In this paper, the main objective is to compare the abelian subalgebras and ideals of maximal dimension for finite-dimensional supersolvable Lie algebras. We characterise the maximal abelian subalgebras of solvable Lie algebras and study solvable Lie algebras containing an abelian subalgebra of codimension 2. Finally, we prove that nilpotent Lie algebras with an abelian subalgebra of codimension 3 contain an abelian ideal with the same dimension, provided that the characteristic of the underlying field is not 2. Throughout the paper, we also give several examples to clarify some results.  相似文献

We extend results related to maximal subalgebras and ideals from Lie to Leibniz algebras. In particular, we classify minimal non-elementary Leibniz algebras and Leibniz algebras with a unique maximal ideal. In both cases, there are types of these algebras with no Lie algebra analogue. We also give a classification of E-Leibniz algebras which is very similiar to its Lie algebra counterpart. Note that a classification of elementary Leibniz algebras has been shown in Batten Ray et al. (2011).  相似文献

Engel subalgebras of finite-dimensional n-Lie algebras are shown to have similar properties to those of Lie algebras. Using these, it is shown that an n-Lie algebra, all of whose maximal subalgebras are ideals, is nilpotent. A primitive 2-soluble n-Lie algebra is shown to split over its minimal ideal, and all the complements to its minimal ideal are conjugate. A subalgebra is shown to be a Cartan subalgebra if and only if it is minimal Engel, provided that the field has sufficiently many elements. Cartan subalgebras are shown to have a property analogous to intravariance.  相似文献

Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to study Lie algebras L such that if a subalgebra U of L has a maximal subalgebra of dimension one then every maximal subalgebra of U has dimension one. Such an L is called lm(0)-algebra. This class of Lie algebras emerges when it is imposed on the lattice of subalgebras of a Lie algebra the condition that every atom is lower modular. We see that the effect of that condition is highly sensitive to the ground field F. If F is algebraically closed, then every Lie algebra is lm(0). By contrast, for every algebraically non-closed field there exist simple Lie algebras which are not lm(0). For the real field, the semisimple lm(0)-algebras are just the Lie algebras whose Killing form is negative-definite. Also, we study when the simple Lie algebras having a maximal subalgebra of codimension one are lm(0), provided that char(F) ≠ 2. Moreover, lm(0)-algebras lead us to consider certain other classes of Lie algebras and the largest ideal of an arbitrary Lie algebra L on which the action of every element of L is split, which might have some interest by themselves.  相似文献

We use the classification of finite order automorphisms by Kac to characterize all maximal subalgebras, regular, semisimple, reductive or not of a simple complex Lie algebra (up to conjugacy) that we can determine from its Dynkin diagram. Using Barnea et al. [Barnea, Y., Shalev, A., Zelmanov, E. I. (1998). Graded subalgebras of affine Kac–Moody algebras. Israel J. According to classification of the matrix Lie algebras, a type of explicit Lie algebras are constructed which can be decomposed into a few Lie subalgebras. These subalgebras constitute several coupling commutator pairs from which some continuous multi-integrable couplings could be generated if the proper isospectral Lax pairs could be set up. Then the above Lie algebras are again decomposed into a kind of Lie algebras which are also closed under the matrix multiplication. From such the Lie algebras, some discrete multi-integrable couplings could be worked out. Finally, a few examples are given. However, the Hamiltonian structures of the (continuous and discrete) integrable couplings obtained by the above Lie algebras cannot be computed by using the trace identity or the quadratic-form identity, which is a strange and interesting problem. The phenomenon indicates that the importance of the Lie-algebra classification. The problem also needs us to try to find an efficient scheme to deal with.  相似文献

We present some results about Lie algebras, which can be written as the sum of two subalgebras in two cases: where both subalgebras are simple or both are nilpotent. In the first case we suggest new examples of simple Lie algebras admitting decomposition into the sum of simple subalgebras and give explicit realizations where the existence of such decompositions was established earlier. We single out cases where such decomposition is not possible. We also construct examples of solvable Lie algebras, which are the sums of two nilpotent subalgebras, and the derived length of the sum is greater than the sum of the nilpotent indexes of the summands.  相似文献

The main purpose of this paper is to study the finite-dimensional solvable Lie algebras described in its title, which we call minimal non- \({\mathcal N}\). To facilitate this we investigate solvable Lie algebras of nilpotent length k, and of nilpotent length ≤k, and extreme Lie algebras, which have the property that their nilpotent length is equal to the number of conjugacy classes of maximal subalgebras. We characterise the minimal non-\({\mathcal N}\) Lie algebras in which every nilpotent subalgebra is abelian, and those of solvability index ≤3.  相似文献

Leibniz algebras are certain generalization of Lie algebras. Recently, analyzing the structure of subalgebras, David Towers gave some criteria for the solvability and supersolvability of Lie algebras. In this paper we define analogues concepts for Leibniz algebras and extend some of these results on solvability and supersolvability to that of Leibniz algebras.  相似文献

Xu introduced a family of root-tree-diagram nilpotent Lie algebras of differential operators, in connection with evolution partial differential equations. We generalized his notion to more general oriented tree diagrams. These algebras are natural analogues of the maximal nilpotent Lie subalgebras of finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras. In this article, we use Hodge Laplacian to study the cohomology of these Lie algebras. The “total rank conjecture” and “b 2-conjecture” for the algebras are proved. Moreover, we find the generating functions of the Betti numbers by means of Young tableaux for the Lie algebras associated with certain tree diagrams of single branch point. By these functions and Euler–Poincaré principle, we obtain analogues of the denominator identity for finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras. The result is a natural generalization of the Bott's classical result in the case of special linear Lie algebras.  相似文献
