We give a direct proof to the classification of all indecomposable torsion modules over a Dedekind ring. As an application, we classify all indecomposable locally-nilpotent modules over the polynomial algebra with one variable over a field.  相似文献

Abstract

In this article, we consider the category of unitary right modules over an (associative) ring and the category of firm right modules over an idempotent ring. We study monomorphisms in these categories and give conditions under which morphisms are monomorphisms in the category of firm modules. We also prove that the lattice of categorically defined subobjects of a firm module is isomorphic to the lattice of unitary submodules of that module.  相似文献

In this paper, we construct indecomposable integrally closed modules of arbitrary rank over a two-dimensional regular local ring. The modules are quite explicitly constructed from a given complete monomial ideal. We also give structural and numerical results on integrally closed modules. These are used in the proof of indecomposability of the modules. As a consequence, we have a large class of indecomposable integrally closed modules of arbitrary rank whose ideal is not necessarily simple. This extends the original result on the existence of indecomposable integrally closed modules and strengthens the non-triviality of the theory developed by Kodiyalam.  相似文献

Let (R, 𝔪) be a Cohen–Macaulay local ring. If R has a canonical module, then there are some interesting results about duality for this situation. In this article, we show that one can indeed obtain similar results in the case R does not have a canonical module. Also, we give some characterizations of complete big Cohen–Macaulay modules of finite injective dimension, and by using them, some characterizations of Gorenstein modules over the 𝔪-adic completion of R are obtained.  相似文献

Before his death, Auslander announced that every finitely generated module over a local Gorenstein ring has a minimal Cohen–Macaulay approximation. Yoshimo extended Auslander's result to local Cohen–Macaulay rings admitting a dualizing module.Over a local Gorenstein ring the finitely generated maximal Cohen–Macaulay modules are the finitely generated Gorenstein projective modules so in fact Auslander's theorem says finitely generated modules over such rings have Gorenstein projective covers. We extend Auslander's theorem by proving that over a local Cohen–Macaulay ring admitting a dualizing module all finitely generated modules of finite G-dimension (in Auslander's sense) have a Gorenstein projective cover. Since all finitely generated modules over a Gorenstein ring have finite G-dimension, we recover Auslander's theorem when R is Gorenstein.  相似文献

For K, a finite extension of ? p with ring of integers R, we show how Breuil–Kisin modules can be used to determine Hopf orders in K-Hopf algebras of p-power dimension. We find all cyclic Breuil–Kisin modules and use them to compute all of the Hopf orders in the group ring KΓ where Γ is cyclic of order p or p 2. We also give a Laurent series interpretation of the Breuil–Kisin modules that give these Hopf orders.  相似文献

We prove that the class of Gorenstein injective modules is both enveloping and covering over a two sided noetherian ring such that the character modules of Gorenstein injective modules are Gorenstein flat. In the second part of the paper we consider the connection between the Gorenstein injective modules and the strongly cotorsion modules. We prove that when the ring R is commutative noetherian of finite Krull dimension, the class of Gorenstein injective modules coincides with that of strongly cotorsion modules if and only if the ring R is in fact Gorenstein.  相似文献

Abstract

In this article, we introduce the notion of M-coidempotent elements of a ring and investigate their connections with fully coidempotent modules, fully copure modules and vn-regular modules where M is a module. We prove that if M is a finitely cogenerated module, then M is fully copure if and only if M is semisimple. We prove that if M is a Noetherian module or M is a finitely cogenerated module, then M is fully coidempotent if and only if M is a vn-regular module. Finally, we give a characterization of semisimple Artinian modules via weak idempotents.  相似文献

Abstract

First, we give a partial solution to the isomorphism problem for uniserial modules of finite length with the help of the morphisms between these modules. Later, under suitable assumptions on the lattice of the submodules, we give a method to partially solve the isomorphism problem for uniserial modules over an arbitrary ring. The local cohomology modules HJ I(M) of a Matlis reflexive module are shown to be I-cofinite when j >= 1 and have finite Bass numbers when j >= 0, where I is an ideal satisfying any one of a list of properties. In addition, we show that the completion of a Matlis reflexive module is finitely generated over the completion of the ring and we classify Matlis reflexive modules over a one dimensional ring.  相似文献

Relative notions of flatness are introduced as a mean to gauge the extent of the flatness of any given module. Every module is thus endowed with a flatness domain and, for every ring, the collection of flatness domains of all of its modules is a lattice with respect to class inclusion. This lattice, the flatness profile of the ring, allows us, in particular, to focus on modules which have a smallest flatness domain (namely, one consisting of all regular modules.) We establish that such modules exist over arbitrary rings and we call them Rugged Modules. Rings all of whose (cyclic) modules are rugged are shown to be precisely the von Neumann regular rings. We consider rings without a flatness middle class (i.e., rings for which modules must be either flat or rugged.) We obtain that, over a right Noetherian ring every left module is rugged or flat if and only if every right module is poor or injective if and only if R = S×T, where S is semisimple Artinian and T is either Morita equivalent to a right PCI-domain, or T is right Artinian whose Jacobson radical properly contains no nonzero ideals. Character modules serve to bridge results about flatness and injectivity profiles; in particular, connections between rugged and poor modules are explored. If R is a ring whose regular left modules are semisimple, then a right module M is rugged if and only if its character left module M+ is poor. Rugged Abelian groups are fully characterized and shown to coincide precisely with injectively poor and projectively poor Abelian groups. Also, in order to get a feel for the class of rugged modules over an arbitrary ring, we consider the homological ubiquity of rugged modules in the category of all modules in terms of the feasibility of rugged precovers and covers for arbitrary modules.  相似文献
