In the paper new calculated transport coefficients of air in the temperature range 50-100 000 K are presented. The results have been obtained by means of the perturbative Chapman-Enskog method, assuming that the plasma is in local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE). The calculations include viscosity, thermal conductivity, electric conductivity and multicomponent diffusion coefficients. For the calculation, a recent compilation of collision integrals obtained by Capitelli et al. [1] has been utilized. Analytical expression for all transport coefficients and thermodynamic parameters of the air plasma are also reported. Received 17 November 1999  相似文献

We present rigorous results on the exponential convergence to equilibrium for the Swendsen-Wang stochastic dynamics for thed-dimensional Ising ferromagnet with external magnetic fieldh in the thermodynamic limit. We consider various situations, mainly in the low-temperature regime, in which boundary conditions are homogeneous and parallel or opposite to the external field. In the latter case we relate directly the tunneling from the metastable phase to the stable one with the exponential convergence to equilibrium.  相似文献

The optical line intensities from a series of ion-bombarded oxide glasses are fitted to two different equations relating the intensity and the energy of the upper level. The emission of radiation from a plasma volume upsets the Boltzmann equilibrium. A number of authors have proposed criteria for approximate testing of the existence of local thermodynamic equilibrium on the basis of collision and radiation processes. However, those criteria give excessive values, because they do not take into account radiation resorption, which can moderate the test conditions. The present article is concerned with the influence of radiation resorption on the criterion of the existence of local thermodynamic equilibrium in a low-temperature plasma. We discuss the properties of an analytical solution for waves in radiating fluids, with a view towards its implementation as a quantitative test of radiation hydrodynamics codes. A homogeneous radiating fluid in local thermodynamic equilibrium is periodically driven at the boundary of a one-dimensional domain, and the solution describes the propagation of the waves thus excited. Two modes are excited for a given driving frequency, generally referred to as a radiative acoustic wave and a radiative diffusion wave. While the analytical solution is well known, several features are highlighted here that require care during its numerical implementation. We compare the solution in a wide range of parameter space to a numerical integration with a Lagrangian radiation hydrodynamics code. Our most significant observation is that flux-limited diffusion does not preserve causality for waves on a homogeneous background.  相似文献

The locally equilibrium diffusion process is considered in which two mean velocities of the diffusing particles appear: the mean arrival velocity to the point and the mean starting velocity from the point. It is shown that such a diffusion process can be described by generalized Nelson stochastic mechanics. Equations describing the coupling of the diffusion process with the plastic yielding process are formulated. It is shown that the increments of the plastic strains caused by the dislocation motion can be described by a Weyl gauge field.  相似文献

Radiative-hydrodynamics and radiative transfer simulations of astrophysical plasmas require the determination of radiative properties. However, most of the plasma radiative properties are calculated assuming the plasma in coronal equilibrium or local thermodynamic equilibrium regimes that is often not the case for many scenarios. In this work, we present nonlocal thermodynamic equilibrium calculations of radiative opacities of Fe and S and of an astrophysical plasma mixture for temperatures larger than 100 eV. Classification of equilibrium states of condensed media with spontaneously broken symmetry is carried out. Conditions of residual symmetry and spatial symmetry are formulated. The connection between these symmetry conditions and equilibrium states of various media with tensor order parameter is found out. Superfluid 3He, liquid crystals, quadrupolar magnetics are considered in detail. Possible homogeneous and heterogeneous states are found out. Discrete and continuous thermodynamic parameters, which define an equilibrium state, allowable form of order parameter, residual symmetry, and spatial symmetry generators are established. We present a method to estimate the temperature of transient plasmas and their degree of departure from local thermodynamic equilibrium conditions. Our method is based on application of the Saha–Boltzmann equations on the temporal variation of the intensity of the spectral lines of the plasma, under the assumption that the plasmas at the different times when the spectra were obtained are in local thermodynamic equilibrium. The method requires no knowledge of the spectral efficiency of the spectrometer/detector, transition probabilities of the considered lines, or degeneracies of the upper and lower levels. Provided that the conditions of optically thin, homogeneous plasma in local thermodynamic equilibrium are satisfied, the accuracy of the procedure is limited only by the precision with which the line intensities and densities can be determined at two different temperatures. The procedure generates an equation describing the temporal evolution of the electron number density of transient plasmas under local thermodynamic equilibrium conditions. The method is applied to the analysis of two laser-induced breakdown spectra of cadmium at different temperatures.  相似文献

In the standard presentations of the principles of Gibbsian equilibrium thermodynamics one can find several gaps in the logic. For a subject that is as widely used as equilibrium thermodynamics, it is of interest to clear up such questions of mathematical rigor. In this paper it is shown that using convex analysis one can give a mathematically rigorous treatment of several basic aspects of equilibrium thermodynamics. On the basis of a fundamental convexity property implied by the second law, the following topics are discussed: thermodynamic stability, transformed fundamental functions (such as the Gibbs free energy), and the existence and uniqueness of possible final equilibrium states of closed composite thermodynamic systems. It is shown that a standard mathematical characterization of thermodynamic stability (involving a positive definiteness property) is sufficient but in fact not necessary for the physically superior convexity characterization of thermodynamic stability. Furthermore, it is found that functions such as the Gibbs free energy can be rigorously and globally defined using convex conjugation instead of Legendre transformation. Another result desribed in this paper is that equilibrium thermodynamics cannot always uniquely predict possible final equilibrium states of closed composite thermodynamic systems.  相似文献

The lattice model was used to derive equations describing diffusion in a nonuniform medium in the absence of local equilibrium at nonzero temperature gradients. Equations are obtained that extend a diffusion equation with fractional derivative in time and a nonlinear diffusion equation, which was previously obtained within the framework of a generalized thermodynamic approach, to cover diffusion in a medium with a nonuniform temperature field.  相似文献
