Structures of the tert-pentyl cation (C(5)H(11)(+)) and its protonated dication (C(5)H(12)(2+), isopentane dication) were studied using ab initio methods at the MP2/cc-pVTZ level. Both C-C and C-H hyperconjugatively stabilized structures 1 and 2 , respectively, were found to be minima on the potential energy surface (PES) of the tert-pentyl cation. Structure 1 was computed to be about as stable as structure 2 (slightly more stable by 0.5 kcal mol(-1)). Inter-conversion between 1 and 2 through transition state 3 has a kinetic barrier of only 1.5 kcal mol(-1). The C-H protonated form (H(3)C)(2)C(+)CH(2)CH(4)(+)4 was found to be the global minimum for the protonated tert-pentyl dication. Charges and (13)C NMR chemical shifts of the dication 4 were calculated and compared to those of monocation 1 to study the effect of the additional charge in the dication.  相似文献

Mid-infrared photodissociation spectra of mass selected C(3)H(3)(+)-N(2) ionic complexes are obtained in the vicinity of the C-H stretch fundamentals (2970-3370 cm(-1)). The C(3)H(3)(+)-N(2) dimers are produced in an electron impact cluster ion source by supersonically expanding a gas mixture of allene, N(2), and Ar. Rovibrational analysis of the spectra demonstrates that (at least) two C(3)H(3)(+) isomers are produced in the employed ion source, namely the cyclopropenyl (c-C(3)H(3)(+)) and the propargyl (H(2)CCCH(+)) cations. This observation is the first spectroscopic detection of the important c-C(3)H(3)(+) ion in the gas phase. Both C(3)H(3)(+) cations form intermolecular proton bonds to the N(2) ligand with a linear -C-H...N-N configuration, leading to planar C(3)H(3)(+)-N(2) structures with C(2v) symmetry. The strongest absorption of the H(2)CCCH(+)-N(2) dimer in the spectral range investigated corresponds to the acetylenic C-H stretch fundamental (v(1) = 3139 cm(-1)), which experiences a large red shift upon N(2) complexation (Delta(v1) approximately -180 cm(-1)). For c-C(3)H(3)(+)-N(2), the strongly IR active degenerate antisymmetric stretch vibration (v4)) of c-C(3)H(3)(+) is split into two components upon complexation with N(2): v4)(a(1)) = 3094 cm(-1) and v4)(b(2)) = 3129 cm(-1). These values bracket the yet unknown v4) frequency of free c-C(3)H(3)(+) in the gas phase, which is estimated as 3125 +/- 4 cm(-1) by comparison with theoretical data. Analysis of the nuclear spin statistical weights and A rotational constants of H(2)CCCH(+)-N(2) and c-C(3)H(3)(+)-N(2) provide for the first time high-resolution spectroscopic evidence that H(2)CCCH(+) and c-C(3)H(3)(+) are planar ions with C(2v) and D(3h) symmetry, respectively. Ab initio calculations at the MP2(full)/6-311G(2df,2pd) level confirm the given assignments and predict intermolecular separations of R(e) = 2.1772 and 2.0916 A and binding energies of D(e) = 1227 and 1373 cm(-1) for the H-bound c-C(3)H(3)(+)-N(2) and H(2)CCCH(+)-N(2) dimers, respectively.  相似文献

The hitherto unknown gas-phase basicity and proton affinity of 1,3,5-cycloheptatriene (CHT) have been determined by Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) mass spectrometry. Several independent techniques were used in order to exclude ambiguities due to proton-induced isomerisation of the conjugate cyclic C(7)H(9)(+) ions, [CHT + H](+). The gas-phase basicity obtained by the thermokinetic method, GB(CHT) = 799 +/- 4 kJ mol(-1), was found to be identical, within the limits of experimental error, with the values measured by the equilibrium method starting with protonated reference bases, and with the values resulting from the measurements of the individual forward and reverse rate constants, when corrections were made for the isomerised fraction of the C(7)H(9)(+) population. The experimentally determined gas-phase basicity leads to the proton affinity of cycloheptatriene, PA(CHT) = 833 +/- 4 kJ mol(-1), and the heat of formation of the cyclo-C(7)H(9)(+) ion, deltaH(f)(0)([CHT + H](+)) = 884 +/- 4 kJ mol(-1). Ab initio calculations are in agreement with these experimental values if the 1,2-dihydrotropylium tautomer, [CHT + H((1))](+), generated by protonation of CHT at C-1, is assumed to be the conjugate acid, resulting in PA(CHT) = 825 +/- 2 kJ mol(-1) and deltaH(f)(0)(300)([CHT + H((1))](+)) = 892 +/- 2 kJ mol(-1). However, the calculations indicate that protonation of cycloheptatriene at C-2 gives rise to transannular C-C bond formation, generating protonated norcaradiene [NCD + H](+), a valence tautomer being 19 kJ mol(-1) more stable than [CHT + H((1))](+). The 1,4-dihydrotropylium ion, [CHT + H((3))](+), generated by protonation of CHT at C-3, is 17 kJ mol(-1) less stable than [CHT + H((1))](+). The bicyclic isomer [NCD + H](+) is separated by relatively high barriers, 70 and 66 kJ mol(-1) from the monocyclic isomers, [CHT + H((1))](+) and [CHT + H((3))](+), respectively. Therefore, the initially formed 1,2-dihydrotropylium ion [CHT + H((1))](+) does not rearrange to the bicyclic isomer [NCD + H](+) under mild protonation conditions.  相似文献

C(7)H(12)(2+) (1), the prototype hexacoordinate carbonium dication was found to be a viable minimum at the MP2/6-31G** and MP2/cc-pVTZ levels. Structure 1 is a propeller shaped molecule resembling a complex involving a C(2+) with three ethylene molecules resulting in the formation of three two-electron, three-center (2e-3c) bonds. Isomeric structure 2 was found to be 21.8 kcal/mol more stable than structure 1. However, conversion of 1 into 2 through transition structure 3 has a barrier of 5.7 kcal/mol. Related structures 4, 5, and 8 were also located as minima for C(7)H(12)(2+). The isoelectronic boron analogue BC(6)H(12)(+) (10) was also computed to be a minimum at the same level of calculations.  相似文献

We study how the degree of fluorine substitution for hydrogen atoms in ethene affects its reactivity in the gas phase. The reactions of a series of small fluorocarbon cations (CF(+), CF(2)(+), CF(3)(+), and C(2)F(4)(+)) with ethene (C(2)H(4)), monofluoroethene (C(2)H(3)F), 1,1-difluoroethene (CH(2)CF(2)), and trifluoroethene (C(2)HF(3)) have been studied in a selected ion flow tube. Rate coefficients and product cations with their branching ratios were determined at 298 K. Because the recombination energy of CF(2)(+) exceeds the ionization energy of all four substituted ethenes, the reactions of this ion produce predominantly the products of nondissociative charge transfer. With their lower recombination energies, charge transfer in the reactions of CF(+), CF(3)(+), and C(2)F(4)(+) is always endothermic, so products can only be produced by reactions in which bonds form and break within a complex. The trends observed in the results of the reactions of CF(+) and CF(3)(+) may partially be explained by the changing value of the dipole moment of the three fluoroethenes, where the cation preferentially attacks the more nucleophilic part of the molecule. Reactions of CF(3)(+) and C(2)F(4)(+) are significantly slower than those of CF(+) and CF(2)(+), with adducts being formed with the former cations. The reactions of C(2)F(4)(+) with the four neutral titled molecules are complex, giving a range of products. All can be characterized by a common first step in the mechanism in which a four-carbon chain intermediate is formed. Thereafter, arrow-pushing mechanisms as used by organic chemists can explain a number of the different products. Using the stationary electron convention, an upper limit for Δ(f)H°(298)(C(3)F(2)H(3)(+), with structure CF(2)═CH-CH(2)(+)) of 628 kJ mol(-1) and a lower limit for Δ(f)H°(298)(C(2)F(2)H(+), with structure CF(2)═CH(+)) of 845 kJ mol(-1) are determined.  相似文献

Fluorenylidenexanthenes 5-7 were synthesized by 2-fold extrusion diazo-thione couplings. 7 exhibited yellow crystals and purple (560 nm) solutions. (1)H NMR of 5 and 7 indicated subtle equilibria twisted (t) right harpoon over left harpoon anti-folded (a) major/minor conformations. (13)C DNMR of 6 gave DeltaG(c)(double dagger)(enantiomerization/inversion) = 26.5 kJ/mol and DeltaG(c)(double dagger)(E,Z-topomerization) = 82.0 kJ/mol. PM3 calculations of 5 revealed minima a, t, ts (twisted/syn-folded), DeltaDeltaH(f) degrees = 0.0, 14.1, 15.6 kJ/mol, and transition states [t-ts], [a-ts], [t( perpendicular)], [a-a], DeltaDeltaH(f) degrees = 16.3, 17.4, 82.2, 99.3 kJ/mol.  相似文献

The structures and energies of the carbocations C 4H 7 (+) and C 5H 9 (+) were calculated using the ab initio method. The (13)C NMR chemical shifts of the carbocations were calculated using the GIAO-CCSD(T) method. The pisigma-delocalized bisected cyclopropylcarbinyl cation, 1 and nonclassical bicyclobutonium ion, 2 were found to be the minima for C 4H 7 (+) at the MP2/cc-pVTZ level. At the MP4(SDTQ)/cc-pVTZ//MP2/cc-pVTZ + ZPE level the structure 2 is 0.4 kcal/mol more stable than the structure 1. The (13)C NMR chemical shifts of 1 and 2 were calculated by the GIAO-CCSD(T) method. Based on relative energies and (13)C NMR chemical shift calculations, an equilibrium involving the 1 and 2 in superacid solutions is most likely responsible for the experimentally observed (13)C NMR chemical shifts, with the latter as the predominant equilibrating species. The alpha-methylcyclopropylcarbinyl cation, 4, and nonclassical bicyclobutonium ion, 5, were found to be the minima for C 5H 9 (+) at the MP2/cc-pVTZ level. At the MP4(SDTQ)/cc-pVTZ//MP2/cc-pVTZ + ZPE level ion 5 is 5.9 kcal/mol more stable than the structure 4. The calculated (13)C NMR chemical shifts of 5 agree rather well with the experimental values of C 5H 9 (+).  相似文献

This study probes the impact of electronic asymmetry of diiron(I) dithiolato carbonyls. Treatment of Fe2(S2C(n)H(2n))(CO)(6-x)(PMe3)x compounds (n = 2, 3; x = 1, 2, 3) with NOBF4 gave the derivatives [Fe2(S2C(n)H(2n))(CO)(5-x)(PMe3)x(NO)]BF4, which are electronically unsymmetrical because of the presence of a single NO(+) ligand. Whereas the monophosphine derivative is largely undistorted, the bis(PMe3) derivatives are distorted such that the CO ligand on the Fe(CO)(PMe3)(NO)(+) subunit is semibridging. Two isomers of [Fe2(S2C3H6)(CO)3(PMe3)2(NO)]BF4 were characterized spectroscopically and crystallographically. Each isomer features electron-rich Fe(CO)2PMe3 and electrophilic Fe(CO)(PMe3)(NO)(+) subunits. These species are in equilibrium with an unobserved isomer that reversibly binds CO (DeltaH = -35 kJ/mol, DeltaS = -139 J mol(-1) K(-1)) to give the symmetrical adduct [Fe2(S2C3H6)(mu-NO)(CO)4(PMe3)2]BF4. In contrast to Fe2(S2C3H6)(CO)4(PMe3)2, the bis(PMe3) nitrosyl complexes readily undergo CO substitution to give the (PMe3)3 derivatives. The nitrosyl complexes reduce at potentials that are approximately 1 V milder than their carbonyl counterparts. Results of density functional theory calculations, specifically natural bond orbital analysis, reinforce the electronic resemblance of the nitrosyl complexes to the corresponding mixed-valence diiron complexes. Unlike other diiron dithiolato carbonyls, these species undergo reversible reductions at mild potentials. The results show that the novel structural and chemical features associated with mixed-valence diiron dithiolates (the so-called H(ox) models) can be replicated in the absence of mixed-valency by the introduction of electronic asymmetry.  相似文献

Proton exchange from the bound to the bulk waters on the oxo-centered rhodium(III) trimer, [Rh(3)(micro(3)-O)(micro-O(2)CCH(3))(6)(OH(2))(3)](+)(abbreviated as Rh(3)(+)), was investigated over the temperature range of 219.1-313.9 K using a (1)H NMR line-broadening technique. By solving the modified Bloch equations for a two-site chemical exchange, lifetimes (tau) for proton transfer at pH = 2.7, 3.6, and 7.0 ([Rh(3)(+)]= 26 mM, T= 298 K) were determined to be 0.3 (+/-.08) ms, 2 (+/-0.3) ms, and 0.2 (+/-0.2) ms, respectively. From the temperature dependence of the rate, the activation parameters were determined to be DeltaH(++)= 16.2 (+/-0.5) kJ mol(-1) and DeltaS(++)=- 123 (+/-2) J mol(-1) K(-1), DeltaH(++)= 14.9 (+/-0.5) kJ mol(-1) and DeltaS(++)=- 141 (+/-2) J mol(-1) K(-1), and DeltaH(++)= 45 (+/-2) kJ mol(-1) and DeltaS(++)=- 22 (+/-5) J mol(-1) K(-1) for pH = 2.7, 3.6 and 7.0, respectively. All results are reported for a mixed solvent system [acetone : 250 mM NaClO(4)(aq)(3:1)], which was necessary to depress the freezing point of the solution so that the (1)H NMR signal due to bound water could be observed. The pK(a) of Rh(3)(+) was measured to be 8.9 (+/-0.2) in the mixed solvent, which is near the pK(a) for an aqueous solution (8.3 (+/-0.2)). Surprisingly, the lifetimes for protons on Rh(3)(+) are close to those observed for the Rh(OH(2))(6)(3+) ion, in spite of the considerable difference in structure, Br?nsted acidity of the bound waters and average charge on the metal ion.  相似文献

Vanadyl bond dissociation energies are calculated by density functional theory (DFT). While the hybrid (B3LYP) functional results are close to the available reference data, gradient corrected functionals (BP86, PBE) yield large errors (about 50 to 100 kJ mol(-1)), but reproduce trends correctly. PBE calculations on a V(20)O(62)H(24) cluster model for the (001) surface of V(2)O(5) crystals virtually reproduce periodic slab calculations. The low bond dissociation energy (formation of oxygen surface defect) of 113 kJ mol(-1)(B3LYP) is due to substantial structure relaxations leading to formation of V-O-V bonds between the V(2)O(5) layers of the crystal. This relaxation cannot occur in polyhedral (V(2)O(5))(n) clusters and also not for V(2)O(5) species supported on silica or alumina (represented by cage-type models) for which bond dissociation energies of 250-300 kJ mol(-1) are calculated. The OV(OCH(3))(3) molecule and its dimer are also considered. Radical cations V(2)O(5)(+) and V(4)O(10)(+) have very low bond dissociation energies (22 and 14 kJ mol(-1), respectively), while the corresponding radical anions have higher dissociation energies (about 330 kJ mol(-1)) than the neutral clusters. The bond dissociation energies of the closed shell V(3)O(7)(+) cation (165 kJ mol(-1)) and the closed shell V(3)O(8)(-) anion (283 kJ mol(-1)) are closest to the values of the neutral clusters. This makes them suitable for gas phase studies which aim at comparisons with V(2)O(5) species on supporting oxides.  相似文献

A full-dimensional, ab initio based potential energy surface (PES) for CH(5)(+), which can describe dissociation is reported. The PES is a precise fit to 36173 coupled-cluster [CCSD(T)] calculations of electronic energies done using an aug-cc-pVTZ basis. The fit uses a polynomial basis that is invariant with respect to permutation of the five H atoms, and thus describes all 120 equivalent minima. The rms fitting error is 78.1 cm(-1) for the entire data set of energies up to 30,000 cm(-1) and a normal-mode analysis of CH(5)(+) also verifies the accuracy of the fit. Two saddle points have been located on the surface as well and compared with previous theoretical work. The PES dissociates correctly to the fragments CH(3)(+) + H(2) and the equilibrium geometry and normal-mode analyses of these fragments are also presented. Diffusion Monte Carlo calculations are done for the zero-point energies of CH(5)(+) (and some isotopologs) as well as for the separated fragments of CH(5)(+), CH(3)(+) + H(2) and those of CH(4)D(+), CH(3)(+) + HD and CH(2)D(+) + H(2). Values of D(0) are reported for these dissociations. A molecular dynamics calculation of CH(4)D(+) dissociation at one total energy is also performed to both validate the applicability of the PES for dynamics studies as well as to test a simple classical statistical prediction of the branching ratio of the dissociation products.  相似文献

A guided-ion beam tandem mass spectrometer is used to study the reactions of Pt(+) with methane, PtCH(2)(+) with H(2) and D(2), and collision-induced dissociation of PtCH(4)(+) and PtCH(2)(+) with Xe. These studies experimentally probe the potential energy surface for the activation of methane by Pt(+). For the reaction of Pt(+) with methane, dehydrogenation to form PtCH(2)(+) + H(2) is exothermic, efficient, and the only process observed at low energies. PtH(+), formed in a simple C-H bond cleavage, dominates the product spectrum at high energies. The observation of a PtH(2)(+) product provides evidence that methane activation proceeds via a (H)(2)PtCH(2)(+) intermediate. Modeling of the endothermic reaction cross sections yields the 0 K bond dissociation energies in eV (kJ/mol) of D(0)(Pt(+)-H) = 2.81 +/- 0.05 (271 +/- 5), D(0)(Pt(+)-2H) = 6.00 +/- 0.12 (579 +/- 12), D(0)(Pt(+)-C) = 5.43 +/- 0.05 (524 +/- 5), D(0)(Pt(+)-CH) = 5.56 +/- 0.10 (536 +/- 10), and D(0)(Pt(+)-CH(3)) = 2.67 +/- 0.08 (258 +/- 8). D(0)(Pt(+)-CH(2)) = 4.80 +/- 0.03 eV (463 +/- 3 kJ/mol) is determined by measuring the forward and reverse reaction rates for Pt(+) + CH(4) right harpoon over left harpoon PtCH(2)(+) + H(2) at thermal energy. We find extensive hydrogen scrambling in the reaction of PtCH(2)(+) with D(2). Collision-induced dissociation (CID) of PtCH(4)(+), identified as the H-Pt(+)-CH(3) intermediate, with Xe reveals a bond energy of 1.77 +/- 0.08 eV (171 +/- 8 kJ/mol) relative to Pt(+) + CH(4). The experimental thermochemistry is favorably compared with density functional theory calculations (B3LYP using several basis sets), which also establish the electronic structures of these species and provide insight into the reaction mechanism. Results for the reaction of Pt(+) with methane are compared with those for the analogous palladium system and the differences in reactivity and mechanism are discussed.  相似文献

Alkylamines (RCH(2)NH(2), R = H, CH(3), C(2)H(5), C(3)H(7), i-C(3)H(7)) have been investigated by dissociative photoionization by threshold photoelectron photoion coincidence spectroscopy (TPEPICO). The 0 K dissociation limits (9.754 +/- 0.008, 9.721 +/- 0.008, 9.702 +/- 0.012, and 9.668 +/- 0.012 eV for R = CH(3), C(2)H(5), C(3)H(7), i-C(3)H(7), respectively) have been determined by preparing energy-selected ions and collecting the fractional abundances of parent and daughter ions. All alkylamine cations produce the methylenimmonium ion, CH(2)NH(2)+, and the corresponding alkyl free radical. Two isodesmic reaction networks have also been constructed. The first one consists of the alkylamine parent molecules, and the other of the alkyl radical photofragments. Reaction heats within the isodesmic networks have been calculated at the CBS-APNO and W1U levels of theory. The two networks are connected by the TPEPICO dissociation energies. The heats of formation of the amines and the alkyl free radicals are then obtained by a modified least-squares fit to minimize the discrepancy between the TPEPICO and the ab initio values. The analysis of the fit reveals that the previous experimental heats of formation are largely accurate, but certain revisions are suggested. Thus, Delta(f)Ho(298K)[CH(3)NH(2)(g)] = -21.8 +/- 1.5 kJ mol-1, Delta(f)Ho(298K)[C(2)H(5)NH(2)(g)] = -50.1 +/- 1.5 kJ mol(-1), Delta(f)Ho(298K)[C(3)H(7)NH(2)(g)] = -70.8 +/- 1.5 kJ mol(-1), Delta(f)Ho(298K)[C(3)H(7)*] = 101.3 +/- 1 kJ mol(-1), and Delta(f)Ho(298K)[i-C(3)H(7)*] = 88.5 +/- 1 kJ mol(-1). The TPEPICO and the ab initio results for butylamine do not agree within 1 kJ mol-1; therefore, no new heat of formation is proposed for butylamine. It is nevertheless indicated that the previous experimental heats of formation of methylamine, propylamine, butylamine, and isobutylamine may have been systematically underestimated. On the other hand, the error in the ethyl radical heat of formation is found to be overestimated and can be decreased to +/- 1 kJ mol(-1); thus, Delta(f)Ho(298K)[C(2)H(5).] = 120.7 +/- 1 kJ mol(-1). On the basis of the data analysis, the heat of formation of the methylenimmonium ion is confirmed to be Delta(f)Ho(298K)[CH(2)NH(2)+] = 750.3 +/- 1 kJ mol(-1).  相似文献

The gas-phase clustering reactions of OCS+, S2+, H+(OCS), and C2H5+ ions with carbonyl sulfide (OCS) molecules were studied using a pulsed electron-beam high-pressure mass spectrometer and applying density functional theory (DFT) calculations. In the cluster ions OCS+(OCS)(n) and H+(OCS)(OCS)(n), a moderately strong, here referred to as "semi-covalent", bond was formed with n = 1. However, the nature of bonding changed from semi-covalent to electrostatic with n = 1 --> 2. The bond energy of S2(+)(OCS) was determined experimentally to be 12.9 +/- 1 kcal/mol, which is significantly smaller than that of the isovalent S2(+)(CS2) complex (30.9 +/- 1.5 kcal/mol). DFT based calculations predicted the presence of several isomeric structures for H+(OCS)(OCS)(n) complexes. The bond energies in the C2H5+(OCS)(n) clusters showed an irregular decrease for n = 1 --> 2 and 7 --> 8. The nonclassical bridge structure for the free C2H5+ isomerized to form a semi-covalent bond with one OCS ligand, [H3CCH2...SCO]+, i.e., reverted to classical structure. However, the nonclassical bridge structure of C2H5+ was preserved in the cluster ions C2H5+(OCS)(n) below 140 K attributable to the lack of thermal energy for the isomerization. DFT calculations revealed that stability orders of the geometric isomers of H+(OCS)(OCS)(n) and C2H5+(OCS)(n) changed with increasing n values.  相似文献

The energetics of dissociation reactions of S(8)(2+) into stoichiometric mixtures of S(n)(+), n = 2-7, and S(m)(2+), m = 3, 4, 6, 10, were investigated by the B3PW91 method [6-311+G(3df)//6-311+G] in the gas phase and in solution, with solvation energies calculated using the SCIPCM model and in some cases also the COSMO model [B3PW91/6-311+G*, dielectric constants 2-30, 83, 110]. UV-vis spectra of all species were calculated at the CIS/6-311G(2df) level and for S(4)(2+) and S(6)(2+) also at the TD-DFT level (BP86/SV(P)). Standard enthalpies of formation at 298 K were derived for S(3)(2+) (2538 kJ/mol), S(6)(2+) (2238 kJ/mol), and S(10)(2+) (2146 kJ/mol). A comparison of the observed and calculated UV-vis spectra based on our calculated thermochemical data in solution suggests that, in the absence of traces of facilitating agent (such as dibromine Br(2)), S(8)(2+) dissociates in dilute SO(2) solution giving an equilibrium mixture of ca. 0.5S(6)(2+) and S(5)(+) (K approximately 8.0) while in the more polar HSO(3)F some S(8)(2+) remains (K approximately 0.4). According to our calculations, the blue color of this solution is likely due to the pi-pi transition of the previously unknown 10 pi S(6)(2+) dication, and the previously assigned S(5)(+) is a less important contributor. Although not strictly planar, S(6)(2+) may be viewed as a 10 pi electron Hückel-aromatic ring containing a thermodynamically stable 3p(pi)-3p(pi) bond [d(S-S) = 2.028 A; tau(S-S-S-S) = 47.6 degrees ]. The computations imply that the new radical cation S(4)(+) may be present in sulfur dioxide solutions given on reaction of sulfur oxidized by AsF(5) in the presence of a facilitating agent. The standard enthalpy of formation of S(6)(AsF(6))(2)(s) was estimated as -3103 kJ/mol, and the disproportionation enthalpy of 2S(6)(AsF(6))(2)(s) to S(8)(AsF(6))(2)(s) and S(4)(AsF(6))(2)(s) as exothermic by 6-17 kJ/mol. The final preference of the observed disproportionation products is due to the inclusion of solvent molecules, e.g., AsF(3), that additionally favors the disproportionation of 2S(6)(AsF(6))(2)(s) into S(8)(AsF(6))(2)(s) and S(4)(AsF(6))(2)(AsF(3))(s) by 144 kJ/mol.  相似文献

Threshold photoelectron photoion coincidence (TPEPICO) has been used to study the sequential photodissociation reaction of internal energy selected 1,2-diiodoethane cations: C(2)H(4)I(2)(+) → C(2)H(4)I(+) + I → C(2)H(3)(+) + I + HI. In the first I-loss reaction, the excess energy is partitioned between the internal energy of the fragment ion C(2)H(4)I(+) and the translational energy. The breakdown diagram of C(2)H(4)I(+) to C(2)H(3)(+), i.e., the fractional ion abundances below and above the second dissociation barrier as a function of the photon energy, yields the internal energy distribution of the first daughter, whereas the time-of-flight peak widths yield the released translational energy in the laboratory frame directly. Both methods indicate that the kinetic energy release in the I-loss step is inconsistent with the phase space theory (PST) predicted two translational degrees of freedom, but is well-described assuming only one translational degree of freedom. Reaction path calculations partly confirm this and show that the reaction coordinate changes character in the dissociation, and it is, thus, highly anisotropic. For comparison, data for the dissociative photoionization of 1,3-diiodopropane are also presented and discussed. Here, the reaction coordinate is expected to be more isotropic, and indeed the two degrees of freedom assumption holds. Characterizing kinetic energy release distributions beyond PST is crucial in deriving accurate dissociative photoionization onset energies in sequential reactions. On the basis of both experimental and theoretical grounds, we also suggest a significant revision of the 298 K heat of formation of 1,2-C(2)H(4)I(2)(g) to 64.5 ± 2.5 kJ mol(-1) and that of CH(2)I(2)(g) to 113.5 ± 2 kJ mol(-1) at 298 K.  相似文献

The photoionization of alkylperoxy radicals has been investigated using a newly developed experimental apparatus that combines the tunability of the vacuum ultraviolet radiation of the Advanced Light Source at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory with time-resolved mass spectrometry. Methylperoxy (CH(3)OO) and ethylperoxy (C(2)H(5)OO) radicals are produced by the reaction of pulsed, photolytically produced alkyl radicals with molecular oxygen, and the mass spectrum of the reacting mixture is monitored in time by using synchrotron-photoionization with a double-focusing mass spectrometer. The kinetics of product formation is used to confirm the origins and assignments of ionized species. The photoionization efficiency curve for CH(3)OO has been measured, and an adiabatic ionization energy of (10.33 +/- 0.05) eV was determined with the aid of Franck-Condon spectral simulations, including ionization to the lowest triplet and singlet cation states. Using the appearance energy of CH(3)(+) from CH(3)OO, an enthalpy of formation for CH(3)OO of Delta(f) (CH(3)OO) = (22.4 +/- 5) kJ mol(-1) is derived. The enthalpy of formation of CH(3)OO(+) is derived as Delta(f) = (1019 +/- 7) kJ mol(-1) and the CH(3)(+)-OO bond energy as (CH(3)(+) - O(2)) = (80 +/- 7) kJ mol(-1). The C(2)H(5)OO(+) signal is not detectable; however, the time profile of the ethyl cation signal suggests its formation from dissociative ionization of C(2)H(5)OO. Electronic structure calculations suggest that hyperconjugation reduces the stability of the ethylperoxy cation, making the C(2)H(5)OO(+) ground state only slightly bound with respect to the ground-state products, C(2)H(5)(+) and O(2). The value of the measured appearance energy of C(2)H(5)(+) is consistent with dissociative ionization of C(2)H(5)OO via the Franck-Condon favored ionization to the ? (1)A' state of C(2)H(5)OO(+).  相似文献

Cation-cation interactions between NpO(2)(+) and UO(2)(2+) were studied at different temperatures (283.15 K to 358.15 K) and different ionic strengths (3-4.5 mol dm(-3)) by spectrophotometry and microcalorimetry. The cation-cation complex between NpO(2)(+) and UO(2)(2+) was weak and became stronger as the temperature was increased from 283.15 K to 358.15 K. The molar enthalpy of complexation was directly determined for the first time by microcalorimetry to be (4.2 ± 1.6) kJ mol(-1) at 298.15 K, in good agreement with the trend in the stability constant at different temperatures. The small and positive enthalpy and entropy of complexation support the argument that the cation-cation complex between NpO(2)(+) and UO(2)(2+) is of inner-sphere type. At each temperature, the stability constants of the cation-cation complex were found to increase as the ionic strength was increased. The specific ion interaction theory (SIT) was used to obtain the stability constants at infinite dilution and variable temperatures.  相似文献
