We investigate the polarization dynamics in a quasi-isotropic CO2 laser emitting on the TEM01* mode subjected to an optical feedback. We observe a complex dynamics in which spatial mode and polarization competition are involved. The observed dynamics is well reproduced by a model that discriminates between the intrinsic asymmetry due to the kinetic coupling of molecules with different angular momenta and the anisotropy induced by the polarization feedback. We observe various dynamical regimes including chaotic dynamics and show that feedback changes these states from regular to chaotic and vice versa. Finally, the possible applications to polarization coding are discussed.  相似文献

利用SU(2)代数动力学方程研究了加速器中带自旋离子的极化对磁场的含时无规扰动的稳定性问题,发现低度极化的系统对磁场无规扰动十分敏感,而高度极化的系统对磁场无规扰动比较稳定;自旋守恒导致自旋纵向分量的无规涨落和横向分量的无规涨落存在着互补性.这一结果表明,在产生离子束极化的实验中,在离子束低度极化的前期阶段,磁场应具有较高的稳定性,而在离子束极化度较高的后期阶段,磁场的稳定性要求可以放松;自旋纵向分量的无规涨落和横向分量的无规涨落的互补性有可能用来做成稳定离子极化的负反馈.  相似文献

基于PLZT波片的相对相位延迟量可变性和其折射率椭球主光轴的可转性,提出后反馈单个PLZT可变可转波片偏振控制器.采用模拟退火算法进行扰动寻优,仿真结果显示这种控制器是有效的:能将任意输入偏振态转换为稳定的线偏振光而其光强达到总光强的98%以上,在控制过程中相移能在限定范围内变化,避免了由复位重置可能引起的波动.  相似文献

We report results on the numerical investigations of the dynamical behavior of a single mode semiconductor laser under the influence of double cavity optical feedback. We find that the system displays, under certain conditions, chaotic behaviors appropriate for chaos based communications. The synchronization of two unidirectional coupled (master-slave) systems is also studied. The influence of some parameters on the resynchronization and autocorrelation times is investigated. We find that the resynchronization time for the proposed scheme can be two orders of magnitude shorter when compared with that of the single-cavity feedback case. Very good conditions for message encoding by using the on/off phase shift keying encryption method are identified and examples of message encoding/decoding are presented.  相似文献

We study an adaptive dynamical feedback system for phasing of segmented mirrors. The system, which combines a Zernike wave front sensor with a feedback loop, is shown to be capable of separating (static) misalignment errors of segmented mirrors from (dynamical) atmospheric turbulence. Our numerical simulations establish that it can retrieve multi-wave segment misalignment error in the presence of large-amplitude atmospheric phase distortion.  相似文献

In vacuum high-intensity lasers can cause photon–photon interaction via the process of virtual vacuum polarization which may be measured by the phase velocity shift of photons across intense fields. In the optical frequency domain, the photon–photon interaction is polarization-mediated described by the Euler–Heisenberg effective action. This theory predicts the vacuum birefringence or polarization dependence of the phase velocity shift arising from nonlinear properties in quantum electrodynamics (QED). We suggest a method to measure the vacuum birefringence under intense optical laser fields based on the absolute phase velocity shift by phase-contrast Fourier imaging. The method may serve for observing effects even beyond the QED vacuum polarization.  相似文献

We investigate the formation of high-order polarization vortex spatial solitons. The high-order polarization vortex solitons have novel polarization states which are different from fundamental polarization vortex solitons and have rotational symmetry only in intensity. It is proved that the polarization vortex solitons cannot carry vortex phase. The existence domain and dynamical characteristic of these high-order polarization vortex solitons in Bessel optical lattices are discussed in detail.  相似文献

The dynamics of a nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) with feedback using a high birefringence fiber in the loop are investigated. The effect of rotating input polarization angle on the output power and polarization angle is numerically examined, illustrating the sensitivity of the NOLM with feedback to the input’s polarization state, as well as the polarization chaos present with sufficient input powers. The inclusion of a polarization-dependant loss in one or both arms of the coupler is also shown to change the output dynamical behaviour of the system.  相似文献

We present a systematic derivation of the dynamical polarizability and the ac Stark shift of the ground and excited states of atoms interacting with a far-off-resonance light field of arbitrary polarization. We calculate the scalar, vector, and tensor polarizabilities of atomic cesium using resonance wavelengths and reduced matrix elements for a large number of transitions. We analyze the properties of the fictitious magnetic field produced by the vector polarizability in conjunction with the ellipticity of the polarization of the light field.  相似文献

建立了偏分复用(PDM)系统中信道串扰的数学模型,并提出了消除该串扰的方案,即用解复用端一路光信号的射频(RF)功率作为反馈信号以监测光信号在链路中偏振态的变化和在接收端的串扰情况,用粒子群优化(PSO)算法作为逻辑控制单元的算法,控制偏振控制器以消除信道间的串扰。数值仿真了RF功率与信道串扰大小之间的关系,并在2×50Gb/s偏分复用-差分正交移相键控(PDM-DQPSK)传输系统平台上仿真验证了消除串扰方案的效果。结果表明该方案能够大幅降低系统误码率,改善系统性能。  相似文献

Four wave mixing (FWM) is of considerable interest in generation of a phase conjugate beam with photorefractive crystals. The common methods of FWM are parallel polarization FWM and cross polarization FWM. In this paper, we analyze the phase matching property of the latter. First, we consider the phase matching condition, and derive equations representing the angler relationship of interacting beams. Then, we consider the phase mismatching which is caused by shift of the probe beam angle from the phase matching condition, and calculate the effect of the shift of this angle on the amount of phase mismatching. 散射介质对光的随机散射作用是制约其光学聚焦和成像的重要因素,光学相位共轭技术能够通过对散射光场共轭还原实现透过散射介质的光学聚焦和成像,其中散射光场相位的获取是共轭还原的核心。阐述了偏振相移的基本原理,将偏振相移与相位共轭技术相结合,设计了新的基于偏振相移的数字光学相位共轭系统。采用633 nm的HeNe激光器作为系统光源,毛玻璃作为散射介质开展散射光聚焦实验研究。实验结果表明:该装置能够成功实现透过散射介质的光学聚焦,其中聚焦点与背景光强的比值可达约400倍。  相似文献

We investigate a unified chaotic system and its synchronization including feedback synchronization and adaptive synchronization by numerical simulations. We propose a new dynamical quantity denoted by K, which connects adaptive synchronization and feedback synchronization, to analyze synchronization schemes. We find that K can estimate the smallest coupling strength for a unified chaotic system whether it is complete feedback or one-sided feedback. Based on the previous work, we also give a new dynamical method to compute the leading Lyapunov exponent.  相似文献

A novel dual polarization differential quadrature phase shift keying (DP-DQPSK) system is proposed, whose receiver is the same as the single polarization DQPSK system, while it does not need polarization de-multiplexing like the conventional polarization division multiplexing QPSK (PDM-QPSK). Polarization mode dispersion (PMD) is mainly considered and PMD compensation for the DP-DQPSK system is studied. As the feedback signal for PMD compensation, the degree of polarization of the signals is discussed in detail. The results show that PMD tolerance can be improved by 89 ps within 1 dB optical signal noise ratio penalty after PMD compensation for the DP-DQPSK system.  相似文献

Based on the principles of geometric optics, the ray-tracing technique has been extensively used to compute the single-scattering properties of particles whose sizes are much larger than the wavelength of the incident wave. However, the inhomogeneity characteristics of internal waves within an absorbing particle, which stem from a complex index of refraction, have not been fully taken into consideration in the geometric ray-tracing approaches reported in the literature for computing the scattering properties of absorbing particles. In this paper, we first demonstrate that electromagnetic fields associated with an absorbing particle can be decomposed into the TE and TM modes. Subsequently, on the basis of Maxwell's equations and electromagnetic boundary conditions for the TE-mode electric field and the TM-mode magnetic field, we derive generalized Fresnel reflection and refraction coefficients, which differ from conventional formulae and do not involve complex angles. Additionally, a recurrence formulism is developed for the computation of the scattering phase matrix of an absorbing particle within the framework of the conventional geometric ray-tracing method. We further present pertinent numerical examples for the phase function and the degree of linear polarization in conjunction with light scattering by individual absorbing spheres, and discuss the deviation of the geometric optics solutions from the exact Lorenz-Mie results with respect to size parameter and complex refractive index.  相似文献

An ellipsometric method for measuring second-order cascaded phase shift is experimentally demonstrated in a KNbO(3) single crystal. We analyze the polarization state composed of the two orthogonal polarizations of the transmitted fundamental wave, one of which experiences intensity-dependent depletion and phase shift while the other does not. The influence of various lasing-radiation polarization states and types of optical dipole transitions on the nonlinear amplitude-detuning characteristics of quantum-well semiconductor lasers with pump current modulation has been theoretically investigated. It has been established that the narrowest spectral interval, where the response is nonzero, is realized in the case of TM-mode radiation and transitions to the heavy-hole states as well as in the case of TE-mode radiation and transitions to the light-hole states.  相似文献

分析了色度色散(CD)对偏振模色散(PMD)动态补偿中偏振度(DOP)反馈的影响,模拟和实验验证了2.5Gb/s和10Gb/s非归零调制系统中光信号偏振度特性和系统误码率特性。表明有色度色散作用时信号偏振度值比仅受偏振模色散作用时要大.但误码率随色度色散量增加先轻度好转后就逐渐变差.偏振度值将不能如实反映偏振模色散对系统性能的影响。且信号两正交偏振分量间能量差别越小或差分群延迟越大,上述两种情况下信号偏振度值偏离就越远。这种偏离还随系统速率和色度色散量的增加而加剧。进一步探讨了实际偏振模色散补偿中减轻色度色散影响的措施,表明当系统中同时存在偏振模色散和色度色散影响时,必须在基于偏振度反馈的偏振模色散补偿前完成色度色散补偿。  相似文献

The dynamical behavior of a single-mode laser subject to optical feedback is investigated in the limit, when the delay time is much shorter than the period of the relaxation oscillations. Use of an integrated distributed feedback device allows us to control the feedback phase. We observe two kinds of Hopf bifurcations associated with regular self-pulsations of different frequencies.  相似文献
