With a reflective single-walled carbon nanotube as the saturable absorber, a laser diode-pumped passively mode-locked Nd:YVO4 laser at 1064 nm was realized for the first time. The pulse duration of 12 ps was produced with a repetition rate of 83.7 MHz. The peak power and the single pulse energy of the mode-locking laser were 1.28 kW and 15.4 nJ, respectively.  相似文献

An actively mode-locked fiber ring laser based on cross-gain modulation (XGM) in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is demonstrated to operate stably with a simple configuration. By forward injecting an easily-generated external pulse train, the mode-locked fiber laser can generate an optical-pulse sequence with pulsewidth about 6 ps and average output power about 7.9 mW. The output pulses show an ultra-low RMS jitter about 70.7 fs measured by a RF spectrum analyzer. The use of the proposed forward-injection configuration can realize the repetition-rate tunability from 1 to 15 GHz for the generated optical-pulse sequences. By employing a wavelength-tunable optical band-pass filter in the laser cavity, the operation wavelength of the designed SOA-based actively mode-locked fiber laser can be tuned continuously in a wide span between 1528 and 1565 nm. The parameters of external-injection optical pulses are studied experimentally to optimize the mode-locked fiber laser.  相似文献

A diode-pumped high-power continuous-wave (cw) dual-wavelength Yb:CaNb2O6 lasers at 1003 nm and 1038 nm is reported. By using an end-pumped structure and employing a 978 nm diode-laser as the pump source. As a result, the total output power of 803 mW dual-wavelength lasers at 1003 nm and 1038 nm is obtained at an incident pump power of 17.8 W. Furthermore, intracavity sum-frequency mixing at 1003 and 1038 nm was then realized in a LBO crystal to reach the green range. We obtained a total cw output power of 94 mW at 510 nm.  相似文献

A simultaneous self-Q-switched and mode-locked diode-pumped 946 nm laser by using a Cr,Nd:YAG crystal as gain medium as well as saturable absorber is demonstrated for the first time as we know. The maximum average output power of 751 mW with a slope efficiency of 18.38% is obtained at an intra-cavity average peak power intensity of 4.83 × 106 W/cm2. Under this circumstance, the repetition rate of Q-switched envelopes is 9.63 kHz and the pulse width is about 460 ns. Almost 100% mode-locked modulation depth is obtained at all time in the experiment process whether the incident pump power is low or high. The repetition rate of mode-locked pulses within a Q-switched envelope is 135.13 MHz and the mode-locked pulse width is within 600 ps. The laser produces high-quality pulses in TEM00-mode in the simultaneous self-Q-switched and mode-locked experiment.  相似文献

The techniques of coupled-cavity modelocking and self-modelocking in which intensity-induced nonlinear effects are exploited have been reviewed for broad-band gain media. Particular emphases have been placed upon the archetypical colour-centre and titanium-sapphire laser configurations in which these techniques were first demonstrated and subsequent refinements are set in context. A femtosecond optical parametric oscillator pumped by a self-mode-locked titanium-sapphire laser has also been described as an exemplar of a practical means of extending the source tunability into the mid-infrared spectral region.  相似文献

We have demonstrated the stable mode-locked Nd:GdVO4 laser operating on the 4F3/2-4I9/2 transition at 912 nm. With a four-mirror-folded cavity and a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror for passive mode-locking, we have gained 6.5 ps laser pulses at a repetition rate of 178 MHz. The laser is diode-end-pumped, and the total output power from the out coupler is 128 mw at an incident pump power of 19.7 W.  相似文献

An end pumped Nd:YAP laser at 1341 nm is actively mode locked and passively Q-switched. Pumping was done with a pulsed high power laser diode with maximum power 425 W. V3+:YAG with 61% initial transmission served as saturable absorber, and an acousto-optic modulator is used for active mode locking. The output pulse train with 69 ns duration has a total energy of 3.2 mJ with ±4% shot-to-shot fluctuation. The peak output energy of a single mode locked pulse is 0.25 mJ. The pulse duration of a single mode locked pulse is less than 800 ps. The output laser beam is nearly diffraction limited with 1.6 mm diameter, and beam propagation factor M2 about 1.3.  相似文献

We report an L-shaped symmetrical co-folding-arm plane-plane diode pumped solid-state yellow laser at 589 nm by using intracavity sum-frequency mixing. By carefully designing the cavity and employing various techniques to optimize the laser’s specifications, a quasi-continuous-wave (QCW) free-oscillation yellow laser source, which has an average output power of 8.1 W, a beam quality factor of M2 = 2.3, and a repetition rate of 1.1 kHz, is developed. The generation of yellow laser at 589 nm is achieved by intracavity sum-frequency mixing between the laser lines at 1319 nm and 1064 nm of an Nd:YAG laser in a KTP crystal. To the best of our knowledge, the 8.1 W output at 589 nm is higher than any other diode pumped solid-state yellow laser generated by intracavity sum-frequency generation so far.  相似文献

A stable and short pulse train of ∼100 MHz repetition frequency was obtained from an erbium doped fiber laser excited by a “continuous” semiconductor laser and by using a linear cavity defined by a Bragg grating pair. The operation frequency of the fiber laser was greater (∼5-15 times) than the cavity round-trip frequency. Emission properties obtained from the erbium doped fiber laser were correlated with those taken from the pump laser, which presented a particular optical noise (very short pulses) added to the continuous emission. From the temporal and radio-frequency analysis of both systems, we conclude that the pump emission characteristics are the responsible of the fiber laser pulsed behaviour.  相似文献

A laser-diode-pumped widely tunable single-longitude-mode TIn:YAP laser in 2μm eye-safe region is built. Con- tinuous tanable range from 1899nm to 2025nm is achieved with the maximum laser output power of 225mW at 1989 am. In addition, the TIn:YAP laser operating under multimode and slngle-mode conditions is discussed.  相似文献

A liquid nitrogen cooled dual-wavelength Tm,Ho:GdVO4 microchip laser is reported. The output dual wavelengths axe at 2038.9nm and 2050.1 nm. At each wavelength, the laser has a single longitudinal mode. The threshold power is nearly 20mW and the slope efficiency is 18.7%. The single longitudinal mode output power reaches 98mW, and the ratio of power is about 60% (2038.9nm) and 40% (2050.1 nm).  相似文献

Combining the advantages of diode-end-pumped Nd: YVO4 and diode-side-pumped Nd: YAG amplifiers, a high average power and high beam quality picosecond laser is designed. The system delivers a picosecond laser with average power of 43.4 W and good beam quality of M2 < 1.7. By focusing the high power picosecond laser in LBO crystal, 532 nm green laser with maximal power of 20.8 W is generated and the conversion efficiency of second-harmonic generation reaches 56.4% when 17.7 W green laser obtained from the fundamental frequency laser with power of 31.4 W and beam quality of M2 < 1.25.  相似文献

An active Q-switched diode-end-pumped Nd:YAG laser is reported with 2.9 W output power on the 4F3/2 → 4I9/2 transitions at a pump power of 24 W. With intracavity frequency doubling using a 20-mm-long LBO, a maximum blue output power of 2.25 W is achieved at a repetition rate of 23 kHz. The conversion efficiency from the corresponding Q-switched fundamental output to blue output is 96%. The peak power of the Q-switched blue pulse is up to 610 W with 160 ns pulse width. The fluctuation of the blue output power is less than 4.0% at the maximum output power.  相似文献

A novel actively mode-locked multi-wavelength tunable fiber laser with equally increased or decreased wavelength spacing is presented. It is constructed using a double-ring cavity combined with an amplitude modulator and cascaded fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs). The cavity lengths for all FBGs are intrinsically identical due to the double-ring configuration, and simultaneous mode locking of multiple wavelengths is therefore achieved by applying only one mode-locking signal to the modulator. The FBGs are mounted on a organic plate with angles between adjacent gratings such that the forces applied to the FBGs have an equal force increment; thus, stretching or compressing the cascaded FBGs can achieve a wavelength tuning with equally increased or decreased wavelength spacing. This revised version was published online in March 2005. A simple switchable and tunable dual-wavelength passively mode-locked erbium-doped fiber ring laser based on nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) effect is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The NPR effect effectively induces wavelength- and intensity-dependent loss to readily implement stable dual-wavelength passively mode-locked operation. The wavelength switching and tuning of the dual-wavelength ultrashort pulse laser are achieved only by appropriately rotating the polarization controllers. The side-mode suppression ratio of the output pulse is larger than 41 dB over a wavelength-tuning range of 43.4 nm. Moreover, triple-wavelength ultrashort pulse can also be observed.  相似文献

We report on the development of a pulsed diode end-pumped Nd:YAG laser mode-locked by a nonlinear mirror and stabilized by an acousto-optical modulator. With the introduction of appropriate intracavity loss, the laser is able to generate 22.8 ps pulses with the energy of 4.5 μJ. After amplification and frequency doubling stages, the second harmonic radiation is used to non-collinearly synchronously pump a β-barium borate optical parametric oscillator in a walk-off compensated scheme. The system demonstrates a wide-tuning range from 635 nm to 2.55 μm for the signal output, with maximum average conversion efficiency as high as 42%.  相似文献

Operation of a passively mode-locked fiber laser beyond the Ginzburg-Landau Equation (GLE) approximation is numerically investigated. It is found that even in the Maxwell-Bloch formalism stable solitary waves can still be obtained in the laser due to the cavity pulse peak clamping effect. We further show that the gain bandwidth plays a significant role in determining the detailed property of the formed solitary pulses.  相似文献
