Presented is a type-II quantum algorithm for superfluid dynamics, used to numerically predict solutions of the GP equation for a complex scalar field (spinless bosons) in φ4 theory. The GP equation is a long wavelength effective field theory of a microscopic quantum lattice gas with nonlinear state reduction. The quantum lattice gas algorithm for modeling the dynamics of the one-body BEC state in 3+1 dimensions is presented. To demonstrate the method's strength as a computational physics tool, a difficult situation of filamentary singularities is simulated, the dynamics of solitary vortex-antivortex pairs, which are a basic building block of morphologies of quantum turbulence.  相似文献

A spin gas is a natural extension of a classical gas. It consists of a large number of particles whose (random) motion is described classically, but, in addition, have internal (quantum mechanical) degrees of freedom that interact during collisions. For specific types of quantum interactions we determine the entanglement that occurs naturally in such systems. We analyze how the evolution of the quantum state is determined by the underlying classical kinematics of the gas. For the Boltzmann gas, we calculate the rate at which entanglement is produced and characterize the entanglement properties of the equilibrium state.  相似文献

In this paper the quantum heat transport in a Planck gas in the presence of the potential (other than the thermal one) is investigated. The new quantum heat transport equation which generalizes our potential-free QHT is developed. The thermal wave solution of QHT for a Planck gas is obtained and a condition for distortionless propagation of thermal wave is formulated. It is argued that the initial conditions of the Beginning (i.e., at t=0) are smeared in the time scale of the Planck time.  相似文献

A general quantum dispersion equation for electron-positron(hole)-ion quantum plasmas is derived and studied for some interesting cases. In an electron-positron-ion degenerate Fermi gas, with or without the Madelung term, a new type of zero sound waves are found. Whereas in an electron-hole-ion plasmas a new longitudinal quantum waves are revealed, which have no analogies in quantum electron-ion plasmas. The excitation of these quantum waves by a low-density monoenergetic straight electron beam is examined. Furthermore, the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation for novel quantum waves is derived and the contribution of the Madelung term in the formation of the KdV solitons is discussed.  相似文献

We study the reactivity of a metallic quantum dot when exposed to a gas phase CO molecule. First, we perform a Newns-Anderson model calculation in which the valence electrons of the quantum dot are confined by a finite potential well and the molecule is characterized by its lowest unoccupied molecular orbital in the gas phase. A pronounced quantum size effect regarding the charge transfer between the quantum dot and molecule is observed. We then perform a first-principles calculation for a selected size interval. The quantum dot is described within the jellium model and the molecule by pseudopotentials. Our results show that the charge transfer between the quantum dot and the molecule depends critically on the size of the quantum dot, and that this dependence is intimately connected with the electronic structure. The key factor for charge transfer is the presence of states with the symmetry of the chemically active molecular orbital at the Fermi level.  相似文献

The effect of quantum fluctuations on solitons in the easy-plane ferromagnetic chain is considered within the semiclassical approximation. In accordance with the low temperature ideal gas picture we treat the solitons as a Boltzmann gas and impose quantisation on the spin wave spectrum. We present a method which allows to calculate quantum corrections in a systematic perturbation expansion in 1/S, whereS is the spin length. We use this method to obtain the soliton energy to second order at zero temperature. Our results indicate that the semiclassical approach reasonably describes quantum effects on soliton properties.  相似文献

An electron gas in a strongly oblated ellipsoidal quantum dot with impenetrable walls in the presence of external magnetic field is considered. Influence of the walls of the quantum dot is assumed to be so strong in the direction of the minor axis (the OZ axis) that the Coulomb interaction between electrons in this direction can be neglected and considered as two-dimensional. On the basis of geometric adiabaticity we show that in the case of a few-particle gas a powerful repulsive potential of the quantum dot walls has a parabolic form and localizes the gas in the geometric center of the structure. Due to this fact, conditions occur to implement the generalized Kohn theorem for this system. The parabolic confinement potential depends on the geometry of the ellipsoid, which allows, together with the magnetic field to control resonance frequencies of transitions by changing the geometric dimensions of the QD.  相似文献

We observe a localized phase of ultracold bosonic quantum gases in a 3-dimensional optical lattice induced by a small contribution of fermionic atoms acting as impurities in a Fermi-Bose quantum gas mixture. In particular, we study the dependence of this transition on the fermionic (40)K impurity concentration by a comparison to the corresponding superfluid to Mott-insulator transition in a pure bosonic (87)Rb gas and find a significant shift in the transition parameter. The observed shift is larger than expected based on a simple mean-field argument, which indicates that disorder-related effects play a significant role.  相似文献

A mixture of a one-component Bose gas and two-component Fermi gas is considered at temperatures at which the Bose gas is completely condensed. Two fermions in such a mixture can interact with each other exchanging bosons from the condensate or supercondensate. The interaction potential, a change in the effective mass, the decay, and fermion spectrum are calculated in this quantum Fermi-Bose mixture.  相似文献

The quantum theory is constructed for screening of the Coulomb field of a point charge in a magnetized electron gas of a quantum cylinder. The asymptotics of the screened potential are calculated for both degenerate and Boltzmann electron gases. It is demonstrated that, in the degenerate case, apart from the known quasi-classical monotonic part, the result contains the quantum oscillating part, which corresponds to Friedel oscillations. The Aharonov-Bohm oscillations of the screened Coulomb interaction of electrons on a cylindrical surface are described analytically. It is shown that the Friedel oscillations can be represented as a superposition of oscillations with different frequencies which are determined by the macroscopic properties of the nanotube.  相似文献

Based on the state equation of an ideal quantum gas, the regenerative loss of a Stirling engine cycle working with an ideal quantum gas is calculated. Thermal efficiency of the cycle is derived. Furthermore, under the condition of quantum degeneracy, several special thermal efficiencies are discussed. Ratios of thermal efficiencies versus the temperature ratio and volume ratio of the cycle are made. It is found that the thermal efficiency of the cycle not only depends on high and low temperatures but also on maximum and minimum volumes. In a classical gas state the thermal efficiency of the cycle is equal to that of the Carnot cycle. In an ideal quantum gas state the thermal efficiency of the cycle is smaller than that of the Carnot cycle. This will be significant for deeper understanding of the gas Stirling engine cycle.  相似文献

We study the plasma phase of the two-dimensional Coulomb gas in the small density limit. The analysis is done using the correspondence of the Coulomb gas with the 1 + 1 sine-Gordon model, which has been exactly solved by the quantum inverse method. We construct the correct vacuum of the field theory, improving the former results. We obtain exact results for the Coulomb gas, which confirm the previous perturbative calculations.  相似文献

Summary A model which describes the dissipative quantum magnetotransport in a noninteracting two-dimensional electron gas under the quantum Hall conditions is presented. The resulting dissipative conductivity is proportional to a damping factor γ. The assumption of an exponential dependence of γ on the Hall electric field gives a good fit to the available experimental data.  相似文献

We have produced an interacting quantum degenerate Fermi gas of atoms composed of two spin states of magnetically trapped 40K. The relative Fermi energies are adjusted by controlling the population in each spin state. Thermodynamic measurements reveal a resulting imbalance in the mean energy per particle between the two species, which is a factor of 1.4 at our lowest temperature. This imbalance of energy comes from a suppression of collisions between atoms in the gas due to the Pauli exclusion principle. Through measurements of the thermal relaxation rate we have directly observed this Pauli blocking as a factor of 2 reduction in the effective collision cross section in the quantum degenerate regime.  相似文献

A quantum expression is derived for the longitudinal permittivity of a magnetized electron gas in a quantum cylinder. The asymptotics of the dispersion law are calculated for longitudinal plasma waves in a degenerate electron gas. The approximations of the weak and strong spatial dispersions are considered. It is shown that the longitudinal permittivity is an oscillating function of the magnetic flux through the cross section of the nanotube.  相似文献

We have performed RF experiments on a lateral quantum dot defined in the two dimensional electron gas (2DEG) of a GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure. The small capacitance of the quantum dot gives rise to single-electron charging effects, which we employed to realize a quantum dot turnstile device. By modulating the tunnel barriers between the quantum dot and the 2DEG leads with two phase-shifted RF signals, we pass an integer number of electrons through the quantum dot per RF cycle. This is demonstrated by the observation of quantized current plateaus at multiples ofef in current-voltage characteristics, wheref is the frequency of the RF signals. When an asymmetry is induced by applying unequal RF voltages, our quantum dot turnstile operates as a single-electron pump producing a quantized current at zero bias voltage.  相似文献

A method for generating a mesoscopic superposition state of the collective spin variable of a gas of atoms is proposed. The state consists of a superposition of the atomic spins pointing in two slightly different directions. It is obtained by using off resonant light to carry out quantum nondemolition measurements of the spins. The relevant experimental conditions, which require very dense atomic samples, can be realized with presently available techniques. Long-lived atomic superposition states may become useful as an off-line resource for quantum computing with otherwise linear operations.  相似文献

We present an analytic theory of the pair distribution function and the ground-state energy in a two-dimensional (2D) electron gas with an arbitrary degree of spin polarization. Our approach involves the solution of a zero-energy scattering Schrödinger equation with an effective potential which includes a Fermi term from exchange and kinetic energy and a Bose-like term from Jastrow-Feenberg correlations. The form of the latter is assessed from an analysis of data on a 2D gas of charged bosons. We obtain excellent agreement with data from quantum Monte Carlo studies of the 2D electron gas. In particular, our results for the correlation energy show a quantum phase transition occurring at coupling strength rs≈24 from the paramagnetic to the fully spin-polarized fluid.  相似文献
