We study the existence of traveling wave solutions for reaction-diffusion equations with nonlocal delay, where reaction terms are not necessarily monotone. The existence of traveling wave solutions for reaction-diffusion equations with nonlocal delays is obtained by combining upper and lower solutions for associated integral equations and the Schauder fixed point theorem. The smoothness of upper and lower solutions is not required in this paper.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the traveling waves in a class of non-monotone integral equations. First we establish the existence of traveling waves. The approach is based on the construction of two associated auxiliary monotone integral equations and a profile set in a suitable Banach space. Then we show that the traveling waves are unique up to translations under some reasonable assumptions. The exact asymptotic behavior of the profiles as ξ→−∞ and the existence of minimal wave speed are also obtained. Finally, we apply our results to an epidemic model with non-monotone “force of infection”.  相似文献

In this paper we revisit the existence of traveling waves for delayed reaction-diffusion equations by the monotone iteration method. We show that Perron Theorem on existence of bounded solution provides a rigorous and constructive framework to find traveling wave solutions of reaction-diffusion systems with time delay. The method is tried out on two classical examples with delay: the predator-prey and Belousov-Zhabotinskii models.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the traveling waves in a single species population model which is derived by considering the nonlocal dispersal and age-structure. If the birth function is monotone, then the existence of traveling wavefront is reduced to the existence of a pair of super and subsolutions without the requirement of smoothness. It is proved that the traveling wavefront is strictly increasing and unique up to a translation. The asymptotic behavior of traveling wavefronts is also obtained. If the birth function is not monotone, the existence of traveling wave solution is affirmed by introducing two auxiliary nonlocal dispersal equations with quasi-monotonicity.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the existence and stability of periodic traveling curved fronts for reaction-diffusion equations with time-periodic bistable nonlinearity in two-dimensional space. By constructing supersolution and subsolution, we prove the existence of periodic traveling wave fronts. Furthermore, we show that the front is globally stable.  相似文献

The theory of asymptotic speeds of spread and monotone traveling waves is generalized to a large class of scalar nonlinear integral equations and is applied to some time-delayed reaction and diffusion population models.  相似文献

In order to investigate bounded traveling waves of the Burgers-Huxley equation, bifurcations of codimension 1 and 2 are discussed for its traveling wave system. By reduction to center manifolds and normal forms we give conditions for the appearance of homoclinic solutions, heteroclinic solutions and periodic solutions, which correspondingly give conditions of existence for solitary waves, kink waves and periodic waves, three basic types of bounded traveling waves. Furthermore, their evolutions are discussed to investigate the existence of other types of bounded traveling waves, such as the oscillatory traveling waves corresponding to connections between an equilibrium and a periodic orbit and the oscillatory kink waves corresponding to connections of saddle-focus.  相似文献

The bifurcation methods of differential equations are employed to investigate traveling waves of the oceanic currents motion equations. The sufficient conditions to guarantee the existence of different kinds of bounded traveling wave solutions are rigorously determined. Further, due to the existence of a singular line in the corresponding traveling wave system, the smooth periodic traveling wave solutions gradually lose their smoothness and evolve to periodic cusp waves. The results of numerical simulation accord with theoretical analysis.  相似文献

In the one-dimensional space, traveling wave solutions of parabolic differential equations have been widely studied and well characterized. Recently, the mathematical study on higher-dimensional traveling fronts has attracted a lot of attention and many new types of nonplanar traveling waves have been observed for scalar reaction-diffusion equations with various nonlinearities. In this paper, by using the comparison argument and constructing appropriate super- and subsolutions, we study the existence, uniqueness and stability of threedimensional traveling fronts of pyramidal shape for monotone bistable systems of reaction-diffusion equations in R3. The pyramidal traveling fronts are characterized as either a combination of planar traveling fronts on the lateral surfaces or a combination of two-dimensional V-form waves on the edges of the pyramid. In particular, our results are applicable to some important models in biology, such as Lotka-Volterra competition-diffusion systems with or without spatio-temporal delays, and reaction-diffusion systems of multiple obligate mutualists.  相似文献

The Evans function is a Wronskian type determinant used to detect point spectrum of differential operators obtained by linearizing PDEs about special solutions such as traveling waves, etc. This work is a sequel to the paper “Derivatives of (modified) Fredholm determinants and stability of standing and traveling waves”, published by F. Gesztesy, K. Zumbrun and the second author in J. Math. Pures Appl. 90 , 160–200 (2008), where the Evans and Jost functions for the Schrödinger equations have been considered. In the current work, we study the Evans function for the general case of linear ODE systems, and choose it to agree with the modified Fredholm determinant of the respective Birman‐Schwinger type integral operator. The Evans function is thus the determinant of the matrix composed of the so‐called generalized Jost solutions. These are the solutions of the homogeneous perturbed differential equation which are asymptotic to some reference solutions of the unperturbed equation. One of the main results of the current paper is a formula for the derivative of the Evans function for the first order systems. Its proof uses a matrix composed of the newly introduced modified Jost solutions. These are the solutions of an inhomogeneous perturbed differential equation with the inhomogeneous term constructed by means of the above‐mentioned generalized Jost solutions.  相似文献

This paper studies the stability of a family of traveling wave solutions to the system proposed by Lane et al. [D.C. Lane, J.D. Murray, V.S. Manoranjan, Analysis of wave phenomena in a morphogenetic mechanochemical model and an application to post-fertilization waves on eggs, IMA J. Math. Appl. Med. Biol. 4 (4) (1987) 309-331], to model a pair of mechanochemical phenomena known as post-fertilization waves on eggs. The waves consist of an elastic deformation pulse on the egg's surface, and a free calcium concentration front. The family is indexed by a coupling parameter measuring contraction stress effects on the calcium concentration. This work establishes the spectral, linear and nonlinear orbital stability of these post-fertilization waves for small values of the coupling parameter. The usual methods for the spectral and evolution equations cannot be applied because of the presence of mixed partial derivatives in the elastic equation. Nonetheless, exponential decay of the directly constructed semigroup on the complement of the zero eigenspace is established. We show that small perturbations of the waves yield solutions to the nonlinear equations decaying exponentially to a phase-modulated traveling wave.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the study of bistable traveling waves for a competitive–cooperative reaction and diffusion system with nonlocal time delays. The existence of bistable waves is established by appealing to the theory of monotone semiflows and the finite-delay approximations. Then the global stability of such traveling waves is obtained via a squeezing technique and a dynamical systems approach.  相似文献

We establish a global existence of traveling waves for diffusive-dispersive conservation laws for locally Lipschitz flux functions. Using Lyapunov stability techniques, we reduce the global problem of finding traveling waves to considering local behaviors of a stable trajectory of the saddle point.  相似文献

Entire solutions for monostable reaction-diffusion equations with nonlocal delay in one-dimensional spatial domain are considered. A comparison argument is employed to prove the existence of entire solutions which behave as two traveling wave solutions coming from both directions. Some new entire solutions are also constructed by mixing traveling wave solutions with heteroclinic orbits of the spatially averaged ordinary differential equations, and the existence of such a heteroclinic orbit is established using the monotone dynamical systems theory. Key techniques include the characterization of the asymptotic behaviors of solutions as t→−∞ in term of appropriate subsolutions and supersolutions. Two models of reaction-diffusion equations with nonlocal delay arising from mathematical biology are given to illustrate main results.  相似文献

A common approach to describing invasions of non-native species into previously unoccupied habitat is to consider the speed of population expansion and the existence of traveling waves. Typical existence theorems for traveling waves require some compactness properties of the next-generation operator. Many realistic modeling assumptions, however, give rise to non-compact operators; for example the occurrence of sessile stages during the life cycle of an individual. Recent results have extended the existence theory of traveling waves to a large class of weakly compact operators, but conditions can be difficult to check and not easily accessible to theoretical ecologists. In this paper, we give a new proof for the existence of traveling waves in a large class of equations where the next generation operator is not compact, but rather the sum of an integral operator and a contraction. We illustrate our proof with a model for the dispersal of a plant species with a seed-bank and a model for dispersal of stream insects with larval stages.  相似文献

In this paper we study the existence and qualitative properties of traveling waves associated with a nonlinear flux limited partial differential equation coupled to a Fisher–Kolmogorov–Petrovskii–Piskunov type reaction term. We prove the existence and uniqueness of finite speed moving fronts of C2C2 classical regularity, but also the existence of discontinuous entropy traveling wave solutions.  相似文献

This paper deals with the Cauchy problem for nonlinear first order partial functional differential equations. The unknown function is the functional variable in the equation and the partial derivatives appear in a classical sense. A theorem on the local existence of a generalized solution is proved. The initial problem is transformed into a system of functional integral equations for an unknown function and for their partial derivatives with respect to spatial variables. The existence of solutions of this system is proved by using a method of successive approximations. A method of bicharacteristics and integral inequalities are applied.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the existence, asymptotic stability and uniqueness of traveling wavefronts in a nonlocal diffusion equation with delay. By constructing proper upper and lower solutions, the existence and asymptotic behavior of traveling wavefronts are established. Then the asymptotic stability with phase shift as well as the uniqueness up to translation of traveling wavefronts are proved by applying the idea of squeezing technique.  相似文献

A diffusive Lotka-Volterra type model with nonlocal delays for two competitive species is considered. The existence of a traveling wavefront analogous to a bistable wavefront for a single species is proved by transforming the system with nonlocal delays to a four-dimensional system without delay. Furthermore, in order to prove the asymptotic stability (up to translation) of bistable wavefronts of the system, the existence, regularity and comparison theorem of solutions of the corresponding Cauchy problem are first established for the systems on R by appealing to the theory of abstract functional differential equations. The asymptotic stability (up to translation) of bistable wavefronts are then proved by spectral methods. In particular, we also prove that the spreading speed is unique by upper and lower solutions technique. From the point of view of ecology, our results indicate that the nonlocal delays appeared in the interaction terms are not sensitive to the invasion of species of spatial isolation.  相似文献

This paper studies the uniqueness and the asymptotic stability of a pyramidal traveling front in the three-dimensional whole space. For a given admissible pyramid we prove that a pyramidal traveling front is uniquely determined and that it is asymptotically stable under the condition that given perturbations decay at infinity. For this purpose we characterize the pyramidal traveling front as a combination of planar fronts on the lateral surfaces. Moreover we characterize the pyramidal traveling front in another way, that is, we write it as a combination of two-dimensional V-form waves on the edges. This characterization also uniquely determines a pyramidal traveling front.  相似文献
