We study the properties of gauge field configurations obtained by freezing the quantum fluctuations of the gauge fields on the lattice. The freezing process is subdivided into three regions: instanton-anti-instanton vacuum, the annihilation of (anti)instantons, and classical solutions. We obtain the distribution of instanton sizes, ϱ, and the distribution of interinstanton distances, R. The average value of the ratio R/ϱ is 2.3. The contribution of the multi-instanton configurations to the value of the string tension is 5%.  相似文献

A method of resumming perturbation theory is used to re-analyze previous Monte Carlo data of Bhanot and Dashen. We find no inconsistency with universality. There appears to be a relatively large region where Monte Carlo studies can reliably be done.  相似文献

We study 3-dimensional SU(2) lattice gauge theory with respect to dimensional reduction. By Monte Carlo calculations we find that this reduction is valid to a good approximation (within ≈10%). The adjoint string tension is found to scale approximately. We also compare the adjoint string tension with a string theory.  相似文献

We discuss SU(2) lattice gauge theories at non-zero temperature and prove several rigorous results including i) the absence of confinement for sufficiently high temperature in the pure gauge theory, and ii) the absence of spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking for sufficiently high temperature in the theory with massless fundamental representation fermions.  相似文献

We report the results of numerical calculations for the probability distribution of the values of the monopole creation operator Фmon in the maximal Abelian projection of SU(2) lattice gluodynamics. It turns out that at low temperature in the confinement phase the maximum of the distribution corresponds to a nonzero value of the field Фmon. This means that the effective potential has the form of a Higgs potential. Above the phase-transition point the minimum of the potential (the maximum of the distribution of the monopole creation operator) corresponds to a zero value of the monopole field Fmon. The results presented are a direct proof of the existence of a condensate of Abelian monopoles in the confinement phase of gluodynamics, and they confirm the hypothesis that the vacuum of gluodynamics is analogous to a dual superconductor. We study the SU(2) gauge theory with the interpolating gauge a la Parrinello-Jona-Lasinio-Zwanziger (PJLZ) with the gauge-fixing functional $F = \sum {_{x\mu } \frac{1}{2}} Tr\left( {U_{x\mu } \sigma _3 U_{x\mu }^\dag \sigma _3 } \right)$ . In this work we explore the performance of CUDA in quenched lattice SU (2) simulations. CUDA, NVIDIA Compute Unified Device Architecture, is a hardware and software architecture developed by NVIDIA for computing on the GPU. We present an analysis and performance comparison between the GPU and CPU in single and double precision. Analyses with multiple GPUs and two different architectures (G200 and Fermi architectures) are also presented. In order to obtain a high performance, the code must be optimized for the GPU architecture, i.e., an implementation that exploits the memory hierarchy of the CUDA programming model.  相似文献

Phase structure of the SU(2) lattice gauge Higgs theory is investigated by the Monte Carlo method and by an approximate calculation of an effective potential. Higgs fields are considered in the fundamental representation, and the radial mode of Higgs fields is not frozen. Two different radial measures for a radially varied Higgs field are used.Phase diagrams of the theory are determined, and a strong dependence on the choice of radial measure of scalar fields is manifested.  相似文献

Color-magnetic thermal monopoles in SU(2) lattice gluodynamics with improved Simanzik action were studied. The density of the monopoles, the monopole chemical potential, the cluster susceptibility, and the cluster magnetization were studied.
