In this paper, the Chow groups of projective hypersurfaces are studied. We will prove that if the degree of the hypersurface is sufficiently high, its Chow group is ``small' in the sense that its formal tangent space vanishes. Then, we will give an example in which the formal tangent space is infinite dimensional.

It is shown that a formal mapping between two real-analytic hypersurfaces in complex space is convergent provided that neither hypersurface contains a nontrivial holomorphic variety. For higher codimensional generic submanifolds, convergence is proved e.g. under the assumption that the source is of finite type, the target does not contain a nontrivial holomorphic variety, and the mapping is finite. Finite determination (by jets of a predetermined order) of formal mappings between smooth generic submanifolds is also established.

Generically, the cohomology with coefficients in a local system of rank one on the complement in of the union of a finite number of hypersurfaces vanishes except in the highest dimension. We study the non-generic case, in which the cohomology in other dimensions does not vanish. When the hypersurfaces are hyperplanes, many examples of this kind are known. In this paper, we consider the case in which the hypersurfaces need not be hyperplanes. We prove that the hypersurfaces given by some particular linear systems have non-vanishing local system cohomologies.

Let H:(M,p)→(M ,p ) be a formal mapping between two germs of real-analytic generic submanifolds in ? N with nonvanishing Jacobian. Assuming M to be minimal at p and M holomorphically nondegenerate at p , we prove the convergence of the mapping H. As a consequence, we obtain a new convergence result for arbitrary formal maps between real-analytic hypersurfaces when the target does not contain any holomorphic curve. In the case when both M and M are hypersurfaces, we also prove the convergence of the associated reflection function when M is assumed to be only minimal. This allows us to derive a new Artin type approximation theorem for formal maps of generic full rank.  相似文献

Results on finite determination and convergence of formal mappings between smooth generic submanifolds in ℂ N are established in this article. The finite determination result gibes sufficient conditions to guarantee that a formal map is uniquely determined by its jet, of a preassigned order, at a point. Convergence of formal mappings for real-analytic generic submanifolds under appropriate assumptions is proved, and natural geometric conditions are given to assure that if two germs of such submanifolds are formally equivalent, then, they are necessarily biholomorphically equivalent. It is also shown that if two real-algebraic hypersurfaces in ℂ N are biholomorphically equivalent, then, they are algebraically equivalent. All the results are first proved in the more general context of “reflection ideals” associated to formal mappings between formal as well as real-analytic and real-algebraic manifolds.  相似文献

It is proved that the geometry of lightlike hypersurfaces of the de Sitter space Sn+11 is directly connected with the geometry of hypersurfaces of the conformal space Cn. This connection is applied for a construction of an invariant normalization and an invariant affine connection of lightlike hypersurfaces as well as for studying singularities of lightlike hypersurfaces.  相似文献

We prove that the Cayley hyperbolic plane admits no Einstein hypersurfaces and that the only Einstein hypersurfaces in the Cayley projective plane are geodesic spheres of a certain radius; this completes the classification of Einstein hypersurfaces in rank-one symmetric spaces.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of the lightcone Gauss–Kronecker curvature for a spacelike submanifold of codimension two in Minkowski space, which is a generalization of the ordinary notion of Gauss curvature of hypersurfaces in Euclidean space. In the local sense, this curvature describes the contact of such submanifolds with lightlike hyperplanes. We study geometric properties of such curvatures and show a Gauss–Bonnet type theorem. As examples we have hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space, spacelike hypersurfaces in the lightcone and spacelike hypersurfaces in de Sitter space.  相似文献

We consider closed biharmonic hypersurfaces in a Euclidean sphere and prove a rigidity result under a suitable condition on the scalar curvature. Moreover, we establish an integral formula involving the position vector for biharmonic hypersurfaces in space forms. As an application of this formula, we reobtain a result concerning the closed biharmonic hypersurfaces in Euclidean spheres that lie in a closed hemisphere.  相似文献

In this paper we study which trajectories for Sasakian magnetic fields are circles on certain standard real hypersurfaces which are called hypersurfaces of type A in a nonflat complex space form. A Lie hypersurface in the complex hyperbolic space is a homogeneous real hypersurface without focal submanifolds. The set of all Lie hypersurfaces in the complex hyperbolic space is bijective to a closed interval, which gives a deformation of homogeneous hypersurfaces from the ruled minimal one to the horosphere. The authors study the geometry of lightlike hypersurfaces on manifolds (M, c) endowed with a pseudoconformal structure c = CO(n – 1, 1) of Lorentzian signature. Such hypersurfaces are of interest in general relativity since they can be models of different types of physical horizons. On a lightlike hypersurface, the authors consider the fibration of isotropic geodesics and investigate their singular points and singular submanifolds. They construct a conformally invariant normalization of a lightlike hypersurface intrinsically connected with its geometry and investigate affine connections induced by this normalization. The authors also consider special classes of lightlike hypersurfaces. In particular, they investigate lightlike hypersurfaces for which the elements of the constructed normalization are integrable.  相似文献

In this survey article, we investigate hypersurfaces defined over finite fields. More specifically, we determine for which hypersurfaces one can ensure the existence of a nonsingular point taking the cardinality of our ambient field large if need be. Additionally, for such hypersurfaces we will find a lower bound on the cardinality for which a nonsingular point is guaranteed.  相似文献
