Summary In our previous publication we have introduced a new model of solute retention in RP-HPLC systems with ternary mobile phases of the B+AB1+AB2 type (B: acetonitrile or tetrahydrofuran; AB1: methanol; AB2: water). That model proposed no stoichiometric differentiation between acetonitrile and tetrahydrofuran, alternatively present in the solvent system; moreover, it made some very rough assumptions only as to the intermolecular interactions among the mobile phase constituents.This paper introduces a significant refinement to the already established retention model, which is based on the simple quantitative relationships between acetonitrile and tetrahydrofuran, and the remaining components of the ternary liquid system. The refined model is tested with same experimental data.  相似文献

Summary We apply our new retention model introduced elsewhere to the studies of intermolecular interactions between the solute and the remaining components of a normal-phase HPLC system using a binary mobile phase consisting of an alcohol and a hydrocarbon. This can be achieved through the analysis of the regressional parameters A, B, and C appearing in the relationship of solute retardation (RF) vs. mobile phase composition. Negative values of these parameters indicate a greater affinity of the solute to the stationary phase than to a given mobile phase moiety, whereas positive values have a reverse meaning. According to the absolute values of A, B, and C solute groups can be arranged according to the affinity toward a given mobile phase moiety, which is a detailed and important information regarding their separation, the stationary phase and with each individual constituent of the mobile phase.  相似文献

The Si–AB5 (MmNi3.6Co0.7Al0.3Mn0.4 alloy) composites with a high tap density as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries were synthesized by ball-milling. Si nanoparticles are distributed homogeneously on the surface of the AB5 matrix. The electrochemical performance of the Si–AB5 composites as a function of Si content was investigated. It is demonstrated that the Si–AB5 composite delivers a larger reversible capacity and better cycle ability because the inactive AB5 alloy can accommodate the large volume changes of Si nanoparticles distributed on the surface of the Si–AB5 composite during cycling. In particular, the Si–AB5 composite containing 20 wt% Si with the high tap density of 2.8 g/cm3 obtained after ball-milling for 11 h exhibits an initial and maximum reversible (charge) capacity of 370 and 385 mAh/g. The high capacity retention can be achieved after 50 cycles in the potential range from 0.02 to 1.5 V.  相似文献

Summary The SFC retention behaviour of alkanes, alkylbenzenes and chloroalkane was investigated by studying solute/mobile phase/stationary phase interaction enthalpies. The methylene group and functional group contributions to solute retention were calculated in pure CO2. It was shown that hydrophobic interactions mainly control retention in pure CO2. Interaction between the polar extremity of C10CN ligands and residual OH groups on the silica surface was suggested as an explanation of the retention obtained on such ligands. This was confirmed by experiments carried out with modified CO2.  相似文献

Abstract

Solvents vary in their behavior in high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Water and methanol, among others, are widely used in the mobile phase as well as solvents for the solute. Few reports indicate that the solvent used for the solute can behave as an analyte. Normally, it is generally accepted that the solute solvent, a non-constituent of the mobile phase will be the first eluent. However, a solvent which is a component of the sample can show up as an unexpected peak with its own identity. This solvent may show a similar retention time as some of the unknown components of the sample. This indicates that in some cases the quantitative results may be the sum of the absorptivity of the solute and solvent used for the sample. It is assumed that some solvents show no absorption in the ultraviolet region at which the analysis is being conducted. Depending on the mobile phase composition some solvents can be detected at the wavelengts or wavelengths used for analysis. Water, ethylacetate, and methanol showed absorption at 210 nm when present in the sample being analyzed with a mobile phase of acetonitrile-methanol using a C18 column. These solvents overlapped or showed retention times the same as estriol and testosterone.  相似文献

根据前期得到的梯度液相色谱保留时间计算公式,在不指定溶剂强度模型形式的前提下,探讨了梯形梯度洗脱的一些特点。对于溶质在梯形梯度坡度上流出时的情形,推导得到溶质流出色谱柱所对应的流动相组成(φR)随梯度斜率(B)变化的表达式。该公式表明,在该情形中φR将会随着B值的增加而增加。对于溶质在梯形梯度最后一个等度区间流出时的情形,如果初始和终止流动相组成保持不变而仅有梯度的斜率发生变化时,从理论上证明了溶质保留时间(tR)与梯度斜率的倒数(1/B)之间呈线性关系。实验中以C18色谱柱为固定相,甲醇-水为流动相,联苯为样品,测定了不同流动相组成以及梯形梯度条件下的保留时间,所得到的实验值与理论值吻合,从而验证了理论方法的正确性。  相似文献

Hyperbranched aryl polycarbonates were prepared via the polymerizations of A2B and AB2 monomers, which involved the condensation of chloroformate (A) functionalities with tert‐butyldimethylsilyl‐protected phenols (B), facilitated by reactions with silver fluoride. The polymerization of the A2B monomer gave hyperbranched polycarbonates bearing fluoroformate chain ends, which were hydrolyzed to phenolic chain‐end moieties and further elaborated to tert‐butyldimethylsilyl ether groups. The polymerization of the AB2 monomer gave tert‐butyldimethylsilyl ether‐terminated hyperbranched polycarbonates. The polymerizations were conducted at 23–70 °C in 20% acetonitrile/tetrahydrofuran in the presence of a stoichiometric excess of silver fluoride for 20–40 h to afford hyperbranched polycarbonates with weight‐average molecular weights exceeding 100,000 Da and polydispersity indices of typically 2–3. The degrees of branching were determined by a reductive degradation procedure followed by high‐performance liquid chromatography. Alternatively, the degrees of branching were measurable by solution‐state 1H NMR analyses and agreed with the statistical 50% branching expected for the polymerization of A2B and AB2 monomers not experiencing constructive or destructive electronic effects on the reactivity of the multiple functional groups. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The retention behaviour of thiazolylazo derivatives, 4-(2-thiazolylazo) resorcinol (TAR), 4-(2-thiazolylazo)-orcinol (TAO), 2-(2-thiazolylazo)-4-methylphenol (TAC) and 1-(2-thiazolylazo)-2-naphtol (TAN) was studied by reversed phase liquid chromatography. The optimum conditions for the separation of four thiazolylazo derivatives were examined with respect to column, flow rate, mobile phase composition and pH of mobile phase. These derivatives were separated simultaneously on Symmetry C8 column using composition of acetonitrile/water (60/40, v/v) as mobile phase. The capacity factor (k′) has been decreased at higher pH than pKa of solute which may due to the increasing concentration of the ionized species as increase the pH of mobile phase. The dependence of log k′ on the volume faction of water in the binary mobile phase and k′ on the liquid–liquid extraction distribution ratio (Dc) in acetonitrile–water (60/40, v/v)/n-octane extraction system for thiazolylazo derivatives were obtained good linear relationship. The results showed that the retention behaviour of these derivatives was mainly affected by the hydrophobic interaction between thiazolylazo as solute and mobile phase.  相似文献

为了获得既具有较高电化学容量又具有良好循环稳定性的低钴AB5型贮氢合金,研究了Fe部分替代Cu对低钴AB5型贮氢合金相结构和电化学性能的影响.采用真空感应熔炼方法,制备了一系列含Cu和Fe的低钴AB5型贮氢合金LaNi3.55Mn0.35Co0.20Al0.20Cu0.85-xFex(x=0.10,0.20,0.25,0.40,0.60).粉末X射线衍射(XRD)分析表明,合金含有单一CaCu5型六方结构的LaNi5相,Fe部分替代Cu并没有改变合金的本体相结构,但随着Fe含量的增大,晶格参数a,c和晶胞体积V增大.电化学性能测试表明,随着x增加,合金的放电容量和高倍率放电能力降低,但是循环稳定性得到了显著提高.当x从0.10增加到0.60时,合金的200周循环稳定性(S200)从77.6%提高到89.9%.Fe替代Cu有利于提高合金的循环稳定性,这主要是随着Fe替代量增大,晶胞体积增大,晶格体积膨胀率明显减小,合金的抗粉化能力增强.  相似文献

Chiral tetrahedral AB4 molecules or molecular fragments, where A and B are atoms, are common, yet handedness assignment rules for these species, to the best of our knowledge, do not exist. We propose a simple set of rules for such an assignment and apply it to many chiral molecules; to a chiral crystal—quartz—identifying preservation of handedness across its phase transition; and to a large random population of chiral AB4 structures. The concept of handedness-labelling is discussed by presenting a second alternative for labelling.  相似文献

Abstract

Utilizing retention data estimated by HPTLC on silica and activity coefficients in the non-aqueous mobile phase determined on the basis of saturation solubility of solutes, the effect of the mobile phase on retention of a set of structurally different solutes was studied. A quadratic relationship between the logarithm of retention factors or activity coefficients and the volume fraction of ethyl acetate in heptane - ethyl acetate solution was observed, suggesting a common retention machanism in liquid chromatography. The retention and/or relative retention of a solute was affected by both the mobile and the stationary phase. The magnitude of these effects depended merely on the molecular structure of a solute.  相似文献

A series of hyperbranched aromatic polyamide copolymers has been prepared and characterized from direct polycondensation of AB2 and AB monomers. Structure of the monomers and the molar ratio of AB2/AB showed strong influence on the properties of resulting copolymers. A small amount of AB2 branching unit improved markedly the solubility of the resulting copolymer. Mark-Houwink parameters of the copolymers were essentially independent of the mole ratio of the monomers. The physical and mechanical properties of resulting copolymers were influenced not only by the mole ratio of monomers, but also by the structure of the monomers employed.  相似文献

Summary The retention data of isomeric xylenes, ethyltoluenes and diethylbenzenes, and of mesitylene, benzene, toluene and ethylbenzene were obtained on a reversedphase column using methanol-water and ethanol-water mobile phases at four different temperatures. This database was used to relate the dependence of solute retention and resolution on the polarity of the mobile phase, solute dipole moment, and column temperature. The additivity of the free energy of the transfer of solute molecules or solute segments from the stationary phase to the mobile phase, was examined for the isomeric compounds. For this, the logarithm of the net retention volume was substituted for the free energy. Deviations from the additivity of free energies indicate that the separation of isomeric substituted alkylbenzenes is governed by their differential interactions with both the polar mobile phase and nonpolar stationary phase. Among the disubstituted alkylbenzenes,ortho-isomers favor the mobile phase more andpara-isomers tend to prefer the stationary phase more. Themeta-isomers are found to follow the additivity rule closely. These trends are amplified as the polarity of the mobile phase is increased indicating that these isomers are resolved better in water-rich mobile phases. These findings are substantiated by analogous results from gas-liquid chromatographic retention data, estimation of dipole moment effects, and examination of the entropic and enthalpic contributions to the net retention volume.Dedicated to Professor Leslie S. A series of 11 homemade octadecyl bonded phases with different coverage densities were tested to determine the influence of the stationary phase on the retention in highly aqueous mobile phases. The concentrations of the organic modifiers (methanol and ACN) were in the range of 0–20%v/v. The coverage density of bonded ligands and the presence of the end‐capping have strong influence on the solute retention. Amoxicillin (AMO) was chosen as the test compound. Dual properties of AMO, which contain hydrophobic skeleton and polar groups (amino, hydroxyl and carbonyl), cause irregular changes of the retention over the stationary phase hydrophobicity and silanol activity at given mobile phase composition. Presented data show that application of non‐standard low coverage density C18 phases allow to determine AMO in the RPLC condition with high retention.  相似文献

In this study, we investigated further the large increases in retention with pressure that we observed previously in RP-LC especially for ionised solutes. These findings were initially confirmed on a conventional silica C18 column, which gave extremely similar results to the hybrid C18 phase originally used. Large increases in retention factor of ∼50% for a pressure increase of 500 bar were also shown for high MW polar but neutral solutes. However, experiments with the same bases in ionised and non-ionised forms suggest that somewhat greater pressure-induced retention increases are found for ionised solutes. Retention increases with pressure were found to be considerably smaller for a C1 column compared with a C18 column; decreases in retention with increasing pressure were noted for ionised bases when using a bare silica column in the hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC) mode. These observations are consistent with the partial loss of the solvation layer in RP-LC as the solute is forced into the hydrophobic environment of the stationary phase, and consequent reduction in the solute molar volume, while the water layer on the surface of a HILIC packing increases the hydration of a basic analyte. Finally, retention changes with pressure in RP-LC can also be observed at a mobile phase pH close to the solute pKa, due to changes in pKa with pressure. However, this effect has no influence on the results of most of our studies.  相似文献
