This paper reports on different physical and optical properties of Nd3+-doped soda-lime silicate glass. The glasses containing Nd3+ in (65−x)SiO2:25Na2O:10CaO:xNd2O3 (where x=0.0-5.0 mol%) have been prepared by the melt-quenching method. In order to understand the role of Nd2O3 in these glasses the density, molar volume, refractive index and optical absorption were investigated. The results show that the density and molar volume of the glasses increase with an increase in Nd2O3 concentration and consequently generate more non-bridging oxygen (NBOs) into glass matrix. The optical absorption spectra were measured in the wavelength range from 300 to 700 nm and the optical band gaps were determined. It was found that the optical band gap decreases with an increase in Nd2O3 concentration. On the basis of the measured values of density and refractive index, the Nd3+ ion concentration in glasses, the polarizability of oxide ions and optical basicity were theoretically determined.  相似文献

The paper deals with optical and electronic properties of the aluminophosphate glasses containing Fe–Mn and Fe–Cr ion pairs in different concentration. The influence of the mixed alkali ions over the electronic properties has been investigated. The optical behavior (optical transmission) of the glass samples has been studied by UV-VIS spectroscopy and the refractive index dependency on wavelength has been discussed. The transmission spectra show features specific for the doping transition ions (TM), revealing different oxidation states of iron (Fe2+/Fe3+), manganese (Mn2+/Mn3+) and chromium (Cr3+/Cr6+) in the vitreous network. Mössbauer spectroscopy offers information regarding the TM oxidation states, redox processes and the iron coordination symmetry in the vitreous network. In the case of Fe–Mn doped glasses, the percentage of Fe2+ is about 40% and a doubled iron content leads to an increasing of Fe2+ percentage up to 53%. The replacing of lithium ions by natrium ions (mixed alkali effect) provides an increasing of the Fe2+ percentage up to 56%. The occurrence of the tetrahedral or octahedral symmetry of Fe2+ ions bonded by O2? ions depends on the transition ion nature and Li+/Na+ ratio. Infrared absorption spectra of the pair transition ions-doped aluminophosphate glasses reveal optical phonons specific for the phosphate glass matrix.  相似文献

Phosphate (P2O5+K2O+BaO+Al2O3+Eu2O3) and fluorophosphate (P2O5+K2O+BaO+BaF2+Al2O3+Eu2O3) glasses with different Eu3+ ion concentrations have been prepared and characterized through optical absorption, photoluminescence and decay times. An intense red luminescence is observed from the 5D0 emitting level of Eu3+ ions in these glasses. The relative luminescence intensity ratio of 5D07F25D07F1 transitions has been evaluated to estimate the local site symmetry around the Eu3+ ions. The emission spectra of these glasses show a complete removal of degeneracy for the 5D07F1 and 5D07F2 transitions. Second and fourth rank crystal-field (CF) parameters have been calculated together with the CF strength parameter by assuming the C2v symmetry for the Eu3+ ions in both the phosphate and fluorophosphate glasses. Judd-Ofelt parameters have been evaluated from the luminescence intensity ratios of 5D07FJ (J=2, 4 and 6) to 5D07F1 transitions. These parameters have been used to derive radiative properties such as transition probabilities, branching ratios, radiative lifetimes and peak stimulated emission cross-sections for the 5D07FJ transitions. Decay curves of the 5D0 level of Eu3+ ions in these two Eu3+:glass systems have been measured by monitoring the 5D07F2 transition (611 nm) at room temperature. The experimental lifetime of the 5D0 level in the title glasses is found to be higher than Eu3+-doped niobium phosphate glasses. The analysis indicates that the lifetime of the 5D0 level is found to be less sensitive to the Eu3+ ion concentration and addition of BaF2 has no significant effect on the optical properties of Eu3+-doped phosphate glasses.  相似文献

The features of the postexposure relaxation of holographic gratings recorded in inhomogeneous polyvinyl acetate latex films with photosensitive agents (photochromic molecules of fulgide dyes and phenanthrenequinone) have been considered. The diffusion coefficients and rms displacements of izomerized probe in polymer latex particles and aqueous environment are determined within the model of two diffusion states. The effective diffusion coefficient of the molecular probe, which is responsible for the relaxation of gratings, increases with an increase in their period in wet films, whereas in dry films, this parameter is independent of the grating period. In the films subjected to high-temperature treatment the effective diffusion coefficient decreases with an increase in the grating period. The successive stages of grating relaxation in latex films with phenanthrenequinone are related to the diffusion of free molecules, radicals, and polymer chains, as well as to the local displacement of macromolecular segments at distances of 5–25 nm.  相似文献

Lead phosphate glasses containing Eu(3+) and Dy(3+) have been studied. Local structure was verified using Fourier transform (FT)-IR spectroscopy. Emission bands of Eu(3+) and Dy(3+) ions in lead phosphate glasses are observed in the visible spectral range, which correspond to 5D0→7F(J) (J=0,1,2,4) and 4F(9/2)→6H(J/2) (J=15,13,11) transitions, respectively. Shorter luminescence decays from excited states of Eu(3+) and Dy(3+0 are due to the presence of PbO in phosphate glass.  相似文献

Praseodymium phosphate and dysprosium phosphate glasses with compositions xLn2O3(1−x)P2O5 have been synthesized and analyzed to be in the x=0.18−0.30 range. A theoretical model of nonstationary self-amplification of weak holographic gratings in birefringent photorefractive crystals with two-and one-frequency readout is presented. The model takes account of the multiwave and vector character of the interactions and the simultaneous occurrence of intra-and intermode recording and diffraction processes with different phase detunings and complex coupling constants, which take account of the local and nonlocal response mechanisms of the medium. Analytical solutions are obtained for the intercoupled recording and diffraction equations. The results of numerical calculations of the kinetics of the spatial amplitude-phase profile and gain of the holographic grating and the selective amplification properties with intra-and intermode interaction geometries are presented. Wavelength combining with a transmitting Volume Bragg Grating recorded in photo-thermo-refractive glasses is present. The combining condition is determined with theoretical simulation. The combining efficiency of 81.4% is obtained in the experiment, and it is influenced by the beam quality of the incident beam. The wavefront characteristics of combining beam are improved.  相似文献

Fiber Bragg gratings were written in thulium-doped and undoped single-mode ZBLAN fibers by focusing femtosecond laser pulses on the fiber core through a phase mask. Maximum index modulation of the order of 1 x 10(-3) was induced in both types of fibers. Measurements of the transverse refractive index changes across the core and cladding regions indicate that the grating formation originates from a negative index change.  相似文献

A large photoinduced refractive-index change (as great as Dn=0.21+/-0.04) is obtained in lead silicate glasses by irradiation with the frequency-quadrupled output of a Q -switched YAG laser (266 nm). An approximately exponential relationship is found between the photoinduced refractive-index change and the lead cation mole fraction over the composition range from 18.7% to 57%. The induced refractive-index change is permanent and shows no decay after heating to 360 degrees C during 1 h. Dispersion of the refractive-index change suggests that the photosensitivity is associated with changes in the intrinsic glass absorption edge.  相似文献

An asymmetric distribution of relaxation times has been inferred from an increase in the Cole-Cole distribution parameter α with increasing values of ωτ in 62% v2O5–38% P2O2 glass. The conventional Debye type relaxation loss peaks in the frequency range 102–105 Hz are observed in this sample above 85°K. The extrapolated values of dielectric constant and relaxation time below 100°K seem unexpectedly large while the high temperature extrapolated values of ?' are close to ? as expected. Probably the conventional dielectric loss peaks are observed only above a critical temperature at which the carriers gain sufficient energy to be excited to the conduction band edge. Below this temperature hopping of carriers within kT of the Fermi level may dominate and conventional Debye type dielectric loss peaks may lose their significance as envisaged in the models of frequency dependent ac conductivity.  相似文献

A novel optical arrangement for heterodyne detection of laser-induced gratings based on the use of a phase mask for both excitation and probe beams provides phase stability and control without the need for an active stabilization scheme. The arrangement greatly simplifies the laser-induced grating experiment. The performance of the technique in both transmission and reflection geometries is illustrated through measurements of bulk and surface acoustic waves generated by picosecond laser pulses.  相似文献

The paper presents some model improvements for the optical simulation of laterally-corrugated ridge-waveguide distributed feedback lasers. Simulation results are discussed and design principles for achieving single-longitudinal-mode operation are outlined. The effects of the laterally-corrugated ridge geometry both on the coupling coefficient and on the Bragg wavelength of different transverse modes are presented. The improved modeling has been used to design 980 nm distributed feedback lasers with laterally-corrugated ridge-waveguide third-order gratings. The lasers fabricated using nanoimprint lithography exhibited single-mode operation with 50 dB side-mode suppression ratio.  相似文献

A propagation of zero diffraction order through a volume phase grating is analysed. It is shown that a phase shift between S and P polarization components arises, thus providing optical anisotrpy of the grating. Experimental verification of theoretical predictions is presented.  相似文献
