ABSTRACT

A posteriori error estimates for semidiscrete finite element methods for a nonlinear parabolic initial-boundary value problem are considered. The error estimates are obtained by solving local parabolic or elliptic equations for corrections to the solution on each element. The convergence results improve previous results where unnecessary assumptions are imposed on the approximate solution and the elliptic projection of the exact solution.  相似文献

We give a new proof for the convergence of the solution of a terminal value problem for the periodic Riccati differential equation towards its strong solution as t → ?∞. The proof is mainly based on well-known comparison results and also on an explicit representation formula for the solution that reflects precisely the dependence on the terminal value. Moreover, we give sufficient conditions for the existence of a periodic solution of the differential equation. Similar results are derived for the discrete-time Riccati equation.  相似文献

This paper considers the solution of a deterministic queueing system. In this system, the single server provides service in bulk with a threshold for the acceptance of customers into service. Analytic results are given for the steady-state probabilities of the number of customers in the system and in the queue for random and pre-arrival epochs. The solution of this system is a prerequisite to a four-point approximation to the model GI/G a,b /1. The paper demonstrates that the solution of such a system is not a trivial problem and can produce interesting results. The graphical solution discussed in the literature requires that the traffic intensity be a rational number. The results so generated may be misleading in practice when a control policy is imposed, even when the probability distributions for the interarrival and service times are both deterministic.  相似文献

In this paper, a novel Adomian decomposition method (ADM) is developed for the solution of Burgers' equation. While high level of this method for differential equations are found in the literature, this work covers most of the necessary details required to apply ADM for partial differential equations. The present ADM has the capability to produce three different types of solutions, namely, explicit exact solution, analytic solution, and semi-analytic solution. In the best cases, when a closed-form solution exists, ADM is able to capture this exact solution, while most of the numerical methods can only provide an approximation solution. The proposed ADM is validated using different test cases dealing with inviscid and viscous Burgers' equations. Satisfactory results are obtained for all test cases, and, particularly, results reported in this paper agree well with those reported by other researchers.  相似文献

本文提出了向量值函数的锥D-s凸,锥D-s拟凸,s右导数及锥D-s伪凸等新概念,探讨了锥D-s凸函数的有关性质,建立了带约束非光滑向量极值问题(VP)的最优性必要条件与涉及锥D-s凸(拟凸,伪凸)函数的约束极值问题(VP)的最优性充分条件,给出了原问题(VP)与其Mond-Weir型对偶问题的弱对偶与强对偶结论,揭示了(VP)的局部锥D-(弱)有效解与整体锥D-(弱)有效解,(VP)的锥D-弱有效解与锥D-有效解的关系,所得结果拓广了凸规划及部分广义凸规划的有关结论.  相似文献

The nonlocal boundary value problem for a hyperbolic–elliptic equation in a Hilbert space is considered. The stability estimate for the solution of the given problem is obtained. The first and second orders of difference schemes approximately solving this boundary value problem are presented. The stability estimates for the solution of these difference schemes are established. Two algorithms are here presented. The first one is for obtaining a Chebyshev solution of an overdetermined system of linear equations subject to bounds on the elements of the solution vector. The second algorithm is for obtaining an L1 solution of an overdetermined system of linear equations subject to the same constraints. Efficient solutions are obtained using linear programming techniques. Numerical results and comments are given.  相似文献

In this paper, a fully analytical solution technique is established for the solution of unidirectional, conduction-dominated, alloy solidification problems. By devising appropriate averaging techniques for temperature and phase-fraction gradients, governing equations inside the mushy region are made inherently homogeneous. The above formulation enables one to obtain complete analytical solutions for solid, liquid and mushy regions, without resorting to any numerical iterative procedure. Due considerations are given to account for variable properties and different microscopic models of alloy solidification (namely, equilibrium and non-equilibrium models) in the two-phase domain. The results are tested for the problem of solidification of a NH4Cl–H2O solution, and compared with those from existing analytical models as well as with the corresponding results from a fully numerical simulation. The effects of different microscopic models on solidification behaviour are illustrated, and transients in temperature and heat flux distribution are also analysed. A good agreement between the present solutions and results from computational simulation is observed.  相似文献

The author examines the problem of the buckling of a hinger rod of rigid homogeneous polymer material under constant load. The results of an experimental investigation are presented. The theoretical calculations are based on the nonlinear generalized Maxwell equation. A numerical solution has been obtained on a computer. The results of this solution are compared with the experimental data. In this paper, we introduce new classes of functions called d-V-type-I univex by extending the definition of d-V-type-I functions and consider a multiobjective optimization problem involving generalized d-V-type-I univex functions. A number of Karush–Kuhn–Tucker-type sufficient optimality conditions are obtained for a feasible solution to be a weak Pareto efficient solution. The Mond–Weir-type duality results are also presented. The results obtained in this paper generalize and extend the previously known result in this area.  相似文献

If a nonlinear autonomous n-dimensional system of ordinary differential equations has a bounded solution with a certain uniform stability property, this solution approaches an almost periodic solution with the same stability property. (More precisely, the almost periodic solution is in the set of ω-limit points of the given solution.) If the bounded solution has, in addition to the uniform stability property, an asymptotic stability property, then the solution approaches a periodic solution with the same stability properties. Practical (i.e., computable) sufficient conditions for boundedness of solutions are obtained. The results are applied to generalized Volterra equations.  相似文献

We investigate an infinite dimensional optimization problem which constraints are singular integral-pointwise ones. We give some partial results of existence for a solution in some particular cases. However, the lack of compactness, even in L1 prevents to conclude in the general case. We give an existence result for a weak solution (as a measure) that we are able to describe. Burgers' equation often arises in the mathematical modelling used to solve problems in fluid dynamics involving turbulence. Numerical difficulties arise in the solution for the case of large Reynolds number. To obtain high accuracy, finite element methods are important. The aim of this paper is to summarize relevant past work and to use a moving node finite element method to obtain a solution of Burgers' equation under certain prescribed conditions. The results for high Reynolds number are compared with accurate results obtained by other authors.  相似文献

The effectiveness of local search algorithms on discrete optimization problems is influenced by the choice of the neighborhood function. A neighborhood function that results in all local minima being global minima is said to have zero L-locals. A polynomially sized neighborhood function with zero L-locals would ensure that at each iteration, a local search algorithm would be able to find an improving solution or conclude that the current solution is a global minimum. This paper presents a recursive relationship for computing the number of neighborhood functions over a generic solution space that results in zero L-locals. Expressions are also given for the number of tree neighborhood functions with zero L-locals. These results provide a first step towards developing expressions that are applicable to discrete optimization problems, as well as providing results that add to the collection of solved graphical enumeration problems.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the existence and uniqueness of a solution for a class of fourth-order elliptic boundary value problems. The existence of a solution is proven by the method of upper and lower solutions without any monotone nondecreasing or nonincreasing property of the nonlinear function. Sufficient conditions for the uniqueness of a solution and some techniques for the construction of upper and lower solutions are given. All the existence and uniqueness results are directly applicable to fourth-order two-point boundary value problems.

We propose a dual‐ and triple‐mode least squares for matrix approximation. This technique applied to the singular value decomposition produces the classical solution with a new interpretation. Applied to regression modelling, this approach corresponds to a regularized objective and yields a new solution with properties of a ridge regression. The results for regression are robust and suggest a convenient tool for the analysis and interpretation of the model coefficients. Numerical results are given for a marketing research data set. This paper is concerned with Hölder continuity of the solution to a saddle point problem. Some new su?cient conditions for the uniqueness and Hölder continuity of the solution for a perturbed saddle point problem are established. Applications of the result on Hölder continuity of the solution for perturbed constrained optimization problems are presented under mild conditions.
