Based on the many-particle theory, a general approach to the stimulated polarization effects in a strong periodic field is formulated. A relation to the perturbation theory is demonstrated and forms of the effective polarization potentials for isolated atoms and ions and for ions in plasma are presented. The state of the art of the theory of stimulated polarization bremsstrahlung effect is analyzed, and some prospects for further experimental and analytical investigations are outlined.  相似文献

Within the limits of a new approach based on the Mie scattering theory, polarization bremsstrahlung radiation (PBR), arising during electron scattering on a metallic nanosphere with radius from 10 to 100 nm placed in a dielectric medium is theoretically investigated. The spectral range close to the plasmon resonance is considered, where the contribution of the polarized channel to bremsstrahlung radiation dominates. Spectral, velocity, and angular PBR characteristics are calculated. The sensitivity of the PBR spectrum to the dielectric permittivity of the medium surrounding the nanosphere is demonstrated.  相似文献

Gluon bremsstrahlung emitted in electron-positron annihilation at high energies is found to have a remarkably high degree of linear polarization. It is suggested that measurements of the gluon polarization through angular correlations in the decay of isoscalar vector mesons or possibly through gluon jet oblateness could constitute sensitive test of QCD.  相似文献

Within the framework of the first Born approximation and a simple model of the structural factor, the bremsstrahlung of fast charged particles on polyatomic clusters is calculated and analyzed with regard to the polarization mechanism in a wide spectral range including a domain of high frequencies. The role of cooperative phenomena in the static and polarization channels of bremsstrahlung is investigated. It is established that these phenomena, being negligible for static bremsstrahlung, substantially influence the polarization bremsstrahlung. It is shown that the constructive interference between the contributions of the atoms of a cluster to the polarization bremsstrahlung substantially increases its intensity and changes its dependence on the basic parameters of the problem compared with the case of bremsstrahlung on an isolated atom.  相似文献

The radiation spectra from 900 and 400 MeV electrons in thin Ta, Cu, and Sn foils are measured at an angle of 19° with respect to the direction of motion of the beam. The radiation yield and its dependence on the electron energy agree satisfactorily with the theory of polarization bremsstrahlung. This result represents the first direct observation of polarization bremsstrahlung from ultrarelativistic electrons in homogeneous condensed matter. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. The electron-exchange and quantum shielding effects on the polarization bremsstrahlung spectrum due to the electron-shielding sphere encounters are investigated in quantum plasmas. From this work, it is found that the electron-exchange effect strongly suppresses the polarization bremsstrahlung radiation cross section. Additionally, it is found that the polarization bremsstrahlung radiation cross section increases with increasing plasmon energy and, however, decreases with increasing Fermi energy. The variation of the influence of electron-exchange and quantum shielding on the polarization bremsstrahlung spectrum is also discussed.  相似文献

飞秒激光聚焦到LiF晶体内部, 晶体的加工形貌随偏振改变. 实验表明, 偏振方向平行于<110> 晶向时, 加工起点到表面的距离是<100>偏振下的1.08 倍; 而<110>偏振下加工终点到表面的距离是<100> 偏振下的1.01 倍. 为了解释加工形貌的偏振依赖, 建立了逆韧致辐射、雪崩电离和无辐射跃迁的模型, 首先, 价带电子通过强场电离和雪崩电离, 从激光中吸收能量跃迁到导带, 该过程用电子密度演化方程和傍轴非线性薛定谔方程描述, 求解方程得到导带电子密度; 其次, 导带电子通过无辐射跃迁过程释放能量给晶格, 由能量守恒计算出晶格温度沿激光传播方向的分布; 最后, 晶格温度超过熔点以上的区域被加工. 模拟结果显示, <110>偏振下加工起点到表面的距离是<100> 偏振下的1.03倍, 而<110>偏振下加工终点到表面的距离是<100>偏振下的0.981 倍, 与实验结果基本一致. 虽然Z扫描技术测量的非线性折射率随偏振方向变化, 但是非线性折射率的变化趋势与实验结果相反. 模拟和实验证明逆韧致辐射导致加工形貌随偏振变化.  相似文献

The polarization bremsstrahlung of a fast charged particle in a medium is considered for the case where the conditions for two resonances are satisfied simultaneously: the photon frequency is close to the frequency of one of the transitions of the medium atom, and the permittivity of the medium at this frequency meets the conditions of appearance of Cerenkov radiation. As this takes place, the radiation intensity becomes three or four orders of magnitude higher than that associated with the frequency band within which the bremsstrahlung photon energy exceeds the ionization energy of the atom. Estimates are made for an experiment performed on a gas atomic parahelium at frequencies close to that of the 1s-2p transition.  相似文献

The cross section for two-photon bremsstrahlung is integrated over the electron scattering angle and the (common) emission angle of the bremsstrahlung photons. Equations are found for the energetic, angular, and polarization distributions of the cross section. The cross section for two-photon bremsstrahlung for the case in which the momenta of the bremsstrahlung photons are parallel can be larger than the corresponding Bethe-Heitler cross section. We theoretically investigate the bremsstrahlung that appears when nonrelativistic electrons are scattered in a metal target with allowance made for the polarization contribution. We take into account the interference of ordinary and polarization bremsstrahlung, the absorption of radiation in the target material, the energy losses and elastic scattering of an electron by atoms of the medium, and the coherent effects when the radiating electron interacts with the target. We analyze the influence of the target thickness on the process and the contribution of polarization bremsstrahlung to the total yield of bremsstrahlung photons as a function of the problem parameters.  相似文献

Classical and quantum theories of polarization bremsstrahlung in a statistical (Thomas-Fermi) potential of complex atoms and ions are developed. The basic assumptions of the theories correspond to the approximations employed earlier in classical and quantum calculations of ordinary bremsstrahlung in a static potential. This makes it possible to study on a unified basis the contribution of both channels in the radiation taking account of their interference. The classical model makes it possible to obtain simple universal formulas for the spectral characteristics of the radiation. The theory is applied to electrons with moderate energies, which are characteristic for plasma applications, specifically, radiation from electrons on the argon-like ion KII at frequencies close to its ionization potential. The computational results show the importance of taking account of the polarization channel of the radiation for plasma with heavy ions.  相似文献

A mechanism of formation of electromagnetic radiation that accompanies α decay and is associated with the emission of photons by electrons of atomic shells due to the scattering of α particles by these atoms (polarization bremsstrahlung) is proposed. It is shown that, when the photon energy is no higher than the energy of K electrons of an atom, polarization bremsstrahlung makes a significant contribution to the bremsstrahlung in α decay.  相似文献

This paper develops an effective method for calculating the bremsstrahlung cross section with allowance for the polarization mechanism. The polarization dependence of the stimulated bremsstrahlung and inverse bremsstrahlung (SBIB) of quasiclassical electrons on highly charged ions with a core is calculated in the approximation of a specified Coulomb current. Emission frequencies close to an eigenfrequency of the ion core are considered. The contributions of the static and polarization channels are taken into account in the amplitude of the process. When the nondipole nature of the interaction between the incident particle and a resonant transition in the ion core is taken into account, interference between these channels causes the spectral-amplitude characteristics of the process to assume a specific dependence on the angle α between the electric field intensity vector of the electromagnetic wave and the initial velocity vector of the incident particle. This dependence, which persists after integration of the cross section over the scattering angle of the incident particle, causes interference effects, viz., asymmetry of the line shape and dips in the dependence of the SBIB cross section on electric field intensity, to appear for α=π/2 and significantly reduces them for α=0. Universal relations have been derived to describe the spectral-angular dependence of the polarization bremsstrahlung of a fast charged particle, based on a statistical model for the electron skeleton of the target. Analyzing (e, e'p) experimental data involves corrections for radiative effects which change the interaction kinematics and which have to be carefully considered in order to obtain the desired accuracy. Missing momentum and energy due to bremsstrahlung have so far often been incorporated into the simulations and the experimental analyses using the peaking approximation. It assumes that all bremsstrahlung is emitted in the direction of the radiating particle. In this article we introduce a full angular Monte Carlo simulation method which overcomes this approximation. As a test, the angular distribution of the bremsstrahlung photons is reconstructed from H(e, e'p) data. Its width is found to be underestimated by the peaking approximation and described much better by the approach developed in this work. The impact of the soft-photon approximation on the photon angular distribution is found to be minor as compared to the impact of the peaking approximation.  相似文献
