In this article, we describe a series of new complex salts in which electron-donating cis-{Ru(II)(NH3)(4)}(2+) centers are connected to two electron-accepting N-methyl/aryl-pyridinium groups. These V-shaped complexes contain either monodentate 4,4'-bipyridyl-derived ligands or related chelates based on 2,2':4,4":4',4'-quaterpyridyl and have been characterized by using various techniques including electronic absorption spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. Molecular quadratic nonlinear optical (NLO) responses beta have been determined by using hyper-Rayleigh scattering at 800 nm and also via Stark (electroabsorption) spectroscopic studies on the intense, visible d --> pi metal-to-ligand charge-transfer bands. These experiments reveal that these dipolar pseudo-C(2v)chromophores exhibit two substantial components of the beta tensor, beta(zzz)and beta(zyy), with the difference between them being most marked for the nonchelated systems. Time-dependent density-functional theory and finite field calculations serve to further illuminate the electronic structures and associated linear and NLO properties of the new chromophoric salts.  相似文献

In this article, we describe a series of complex salts in which electron-rich {Fe(II)(CN)(5)}(3)(-) centers are coordinated to pyridyl ligands with electron-accepting N-methyl/aryl-pyridinium substituents. These compounds have been characterized by using various techniques including electronic absorption spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. Molecular quadratic nonlinear optical (NLO) responses have been determined by using hyper-Rayleigh scattering (HRS) at 1064 nm, and also via Stark (electroabsorption) spectroscopic studies on the intense, visible d --> pi* metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) bands. The relatively large static first hyperpolarizabilities, beta(0), increase markedly on moving from aqueous to methanol solutions, accompanied by large red-shifts in the MLCT transitions. Acidification of aqueous solutions allows reversible switching of the linear and NLO properties, as shown via both HRS and Stark experiments. Time-dependent density functional theory and finite field calculations using a polarizable continuum model yield relatively good agreement with the experimental results and confirm the large decrease in beta(0) on protonation. The Stark-derived beta(0) values are generally larger for related {Ru(II)(NH(3))(5)}(2+) complexes than for their {Fe(II)(CN)(5)}(3)(-) analogues, consistent with the HRS data in water. However, the HRS data in methanol show that the stronger solvatochromism of the Fe(II) complexes causes their NLO responses to surpass those of their Ru(II) counterparts upon changing the solvent medium.  相似文献

Six new nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophores with pyrazinyl-pyridinium electron acceptors have been synthesized by complexing a known pro-ligand with electron donating {Ru(II)(NH(3))(5)}(2+) or trans-{Ru(II)(NH(3))(4)(py)}(2+) (py = pyridine) centers. These cationic complexes have been characterized as their PF(6)(-) salts by using various techniques including electronic absorption spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The visible d → π* metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) absorptions gain intensity on increasing the number of Ru(II) centers from one to two, but remain at constant energy. One or two Ru(III/II) redox processes are observed which are reversible, quasi-reversible, or irreversible, while all of the ligand-based reductions are irreversible. Molecular first hyperpolarizabilities β have been determined by using hyper-Rayleigh scattering (HRS) at 1064 nm, and depolarization studies show that the NLO responses of the symmetric species are strongly two-dimensional (2D) in character, with dominant "off-diagonal" β(zyy) components. Stark (electroabsorption) spectroscopic measurements on the MLCT bands also allow the indirect determination of estimated static first hyperpolarizabilities β(0). Both the HRS and the Stark-derived β(0) values increase on moving from mono- to bimetallic complexes, and substantial enhancements in NLO response are achieved when compared with one-dimensional (1D) and 2D monometallic Ru(II) ammine complexes reported previously.  相似文献

Six new complex salts trans-[Ru(II)Cl(pdma)2L][PF6]n [pdma = 1,2-phenylenebis(dimethylarsine); L = (E,E,E)-1,6-bis(4-pyridyl)hexa-1,3,5-triene (bph), n= 1, 5; L =N-methyl-4-[(E)-2-(4-pyridyl)ethenyl]pyridinium (Mebpe+), n= 2, 7; L =N-methyl-4-[(E,E)-4-(4-pyridyl)buta-1,3-dienyl]pyridinium (Mebpb+), n= 2, 8; L =N-methyl-4-[(E,E,E)-6-(4-pyridyl)hexa-1,3,5-trienyl]pyridinium (Mebph+), n= 2, 9; L = bis(4-pyridyl)acetylene (bpa), n= 1, 10; L =N-methyl-4-[2-(4-pyridyl)ethynyl]pyridinium (Mebpa+), n= 2, 11] have been prepared. The electronic absorption spectra of 5 and 7-11 display intense, visible metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) bands, with lambdamax values in the range 434-492 nm in acetonitrile. Cyclic voltammetric studies reveal reversible Ru(III/II) waves with E(1/2) values in the range 1.06-1.15 V vs. Ag-AgCl, together with irreversible L-based reduction processes. Along with a number of previously reported related compounds (B. J. Coe et al., J. Chem. Soc., Dalton Trans., 1996, 3917; 1997, 591; 2000, 797), salts 5 and 7-11 have been investigated by using Stark (electroabsorption) spectroscopy in butyronitrile glasses at 77 K. These studies have afforded dipole moment changes Deltamu12 for the MLCT transitions which have been used to calculate molecular static first hyperpolarizabilities beta0 according to the two-state equation beta0= 3Deltamu12(mu12)2/(Emax)2 (mu12 = transition dipole moment, Emax = MLCT energy). MLCT absorption and electrochemical data show that a trans-[Ru(II)Cl(pdma)2]+ centre is considerably less electron-rich than a [Ru(II)(NH3)5]2+ unit. Although the beta0 responses of the pdma complexes are only a little smaller than those of their [Ru(II)(NH3)5]2+ analogues, this result is partly attributable to unexpected changes in the relative mu12 values on freezing. Thus, substantial increases in mu12 for the arsine compounds act to partially offset the beta0-decreasing influence of their higher Emax values when compared with the analogous pentaammine species. Single crystal X-ray structures have been obtained for the salts 1(.)2.5MeCN, 4(.)2MeCN, 7 and 11, but only 1(.)2.5MeCN adopts a non-centrosymmetric space group (Fdd2) such as may show bulk NLO effects.  相似文献

Two new N-salicylidene-N'-aroylhydrazines ligands have been prepared: N-4-diethylaminosalicylidene-N'-4-nitrobenzoyl-hydrazine (L(1)) and N-4-diethylaminosalicylidene-N'-4-(4-nitrophenylethylidene)-benzoyl-hydrazine (L(2)). The ligands are properly functionalized with strong electron donor-acceptor groups and are of potential interest in second-order nonlinear optics (NLO). Dimeric copper(II) and palladium(II) complexes with L(1) and L(2) have been prepared, and, starting from these, mononuclear acentric adducts with pyridine as a further ligand have been prepared and characterized. The X-ray structures of three adducts are also reported. The NLO activity of the adducts has been determined by EFISH measurements giving mubeta values up to 1500 x 10(-48) esu for an incident wavelength of 1.907 microm.  相似文献

Six new dicationic 2D nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophores with pyrazinyl-pyridinium electron acceptors have been synthesized by nucleophilic substitutions of 2,6-dichloropyrazine with pyridyl derivatives. These compounds have been characterized as their PF(6)(-) salts by using various techniques including electronic absorption spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. Large red shifts in the intense, π → π* intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT) transitions on replacing -OMe with -NMe(2) substituents arise from the stronger π-electron donor ability of the latter. Each compound shows a number of redox processes which are largely irreversible. Single crystal X-ray structures have been determined for five salts, including two nitrates, all of which adopt centrosymmetric packing arrangements. Molecular first hyperpolarizabilities β have been determined by using femtosecond hyper-Rayleigh scattering at 880 and 800 nm, and depolarization studies show that the NLO responses of the symmetric species are strongly 2D, with dominant "off-diagonal" β(zyy) components. Stark (electroabsorption) spectroscopic measurements on the ICT bands afford estimated static first hyperpolarizabilities β(0). The directly and indirectly derived β values are large, and the Stark-derived β(0) response for one of the new salts is several times greater than that determined for (E)-4'-(dimethylamino)-N-methyl-4-stilbazolium hexafluorophosphate. These Stark spectroscopic studies also permit quantitative comparisons with related 2D, binuclear Ru(II) ammine complex salts.  相似文献

Nine nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophores with pyridinium electron acceptors have been synthesized by complexing new proligands with {Ru(II)(NH(3))(5)}(2+) electron-donor centers. The presence of long alkyl/fluoroalkyl chain substituents imparts amphiphilic properties, and these cationic complexes have been characterized as their PF(6)(-) salts by using various techniques including electronic absorption spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. Each complex shows three reversible/quasireversible redox processes; a Ru(III/II) oxidation and two ligand-based reductions. The energies of the intense visible d → π* metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) absorptions correlate to some extent with the ligand reduction potentials. (1)H NMR spectroscopy also provides insights into the relative electron-withdrawing strengths of the new ligands. Single crystal X-ray structures have been determined for two of the proligand salts and one complex salt, [Ru(II)(NH(3))(5)(4-C(16)H(33)PhQ(+))]Cl(3)·3.25H(2)O (PhQ(+) = N-phenyl-4,4'-bipyridinium), showing centrosymmetric packing structures in each case. The PF(6)(-) analogue of the latter complex has been used to deposit reproducibly high-quality, multilayered Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) thin films. These films show a strong second harmonic generation (SHG) response from a 1064 nm laser; their MLCT absorbance increases linearly with the number of layers (N) and I(2ω)/I(ω)(2) (I(2ω) = intensity at 532 nm; I(ω) = intensity at 1064 nm) scales quadratically with N, consistent with homogeneous deposition. LB films on indium tin oxide (ITO)-coated glass show electrochemically induced switching of the SHG response, with a decrease in activity of about 50% on Ru(II) → Ru(III) oxidation. This effect is reversible, but reproducible over only a few cycles before the signal from the Ru(II) species diminishes. This work extrapolates our original solution studies (Coe, B. J. et al. Angew. Chem., Int. Ed.1999, 38, 366) to the first demonstration of redox-switching of NLO activity in a molecular material.  相似文献

A series of RuII or FeII trischelate complex salts containing N-methyl/aryl-2,2':4,4' ':4',4' '-quaterpyridinium ligands that has previously been subjected to quadratic nonlinear optical studies (Coe, B. J. et al. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2005, 127, 13399) has now been investigated for two-photon absorbing behavior. Z-scan measurements using a 750 nm laser afford reasonably large two-photon absorption (2PA) cross-sections sigma2 of ca. 62-180 GM for the RuII complexes, but only very weak 2PA is observed for the FeII compounds. The excited-state and 2PA properties of the representative chromophore [RuII(Me2Qpy2+)3]8+ (Me2Qpy2+=N' ',N' '-dimethyl-2,2':4,4' ':4',4' '-quaterpyridinium) have also been investigated by using semiempirical intermediate neglect of differential overlap/multireference-determinant single and double configuration interaction computations with the optimized geometry obtained via density functional theory. The calculated sigma2 value of ca. 624 GM at 1.70 eV for this metal-to-ligand charge-transfer chromophore is about 10 times larger than that obtained from the Z-scan studies.  相似文献

Copper(II) complexes between three 4-formylantipyrine N(4)-substituted thiosemicarbazones and four copper(II) salts have been prepared and characterized. I.r., electronic and e.s.r. spectra of the complexes, as well as i.r., electronic and 1H and 13C-n.m.r. spectra of the thiosemicarbazones, have been obtained. Both mononuclear and binuclear complexes have been formed with bridging ligands for the latter, being either chloro or acetato. The stoichiometries of the complexes are dependent on both the steric requirements of the thiosemicarbazone ligands and the electronic effects of their N(4)-substituents.  相似文献

Coordination of 4'-(C6H4-p-X)-2,2':6',2'-terpyridines [X = NO2, NBu2, (E)-CH=CH-C6H4-p-NBu2, (E,E)-(CH=CH)2-C6H4-p-NMe2] to Zn(II), Ru(III), and Ir(III) metal centers induces a significant enhancement of the absolute value of the second-order nonlinear optical (NLO) response of the terpyridine, measured by means of both electric field induced second harmonic generation and solvatochromic methods. By varying the nature of the metal center, the enhanced second-order NLO response shifts from positive to negative. Such a shift is controlled by electronic charge-transfer transitions, such as metal-to-ligand or ligand-to-metal transitions, in addition to the intraligand charge transfer. The enhancement generated by coordination is also controlled by the chelation effect and by fine-tuning of the ancillary ligands.  相似文献

Reactions of 3,4-dimethyl-3',4'-bis(diphenylphosphino)tetrathiafulvalene, o-P2, with [BF(4)](-) salts of Fe(ii), Co(ii), Ni(II), Pd(II), and Pt(II) yield complexes of general formula [M(o-P2)(2)][BF(4)](2). Similar reactions between o-P2 and AgSbF(6) or AgPF(6) produced the salts [Ag(o-P2)(2)][X] where X = [SbF(6)](-) or [PF(6)](-). The resulting compounds were fully characterized by (1)H and (31)P{(1)H} NMR, infrared and electronic absorption spectroscopies, cyclic voltammetry, FAB-MS and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The paramagnetic Co(II) compound exhibits an S = 3/2 state with large spin-orbit coupling contribution at higher temperatures and an effective S' = 1/2 state below 20 K. Electrochemical studies of the compounds indicate that the two functionalized TTF ligands are not in electronic communication and that they essentially behave as isolated redox centers.  相似文献

As an extension of prior studies involving the linear quaterpyridine ligand, 5,5'-dimethyl-2,2':5',5':2',2'-quaterpyridine 1, the synthesis of the related expanded quaterpyridine derivatives 2 and 3 incorporating dimethoxy-substituted 1,4-phenylene and tetramethoxy-substituted 4,4'-biphenylene bridges between pairs of 2,2'-bipyridyl groups has been carried out via double-Suzuki coupling reactions between 5-bromo-5'-methyl-2'-bipyridine and the appropriate di-pinacol-diboronic esters using microwave heating. Reaction of 2 and 3 with selected Fe(II) or Ni(II) salts yields a mixture of both [M(2)L(3)](4+) triple helicates and [M(4)L(6)](8+) tetrahedra, in particular cases the ratio of the products formed was shown to be dependent on the reaction conditions; the respective products are all sufficiently inert to allow their chromatographic separation and isolation. Longer reaction times and higher concentrations were found to favour tetrahedron formation. The X-ray structures of solvated [Ni(2)(2)(3)](PF(6))(4), [(PF(6)) ? Fe(4)(2)(6)](PF(6))(7), [Fe(4)(3)(6)](PF(6))(8) and [Ni(4)(3)(6)](PF(6))(8) have been determined, while the structure of the parent Fe(II) cage in the series, [(PF(6)) ? Fe(4)(1)(6)](PF(6))(7), was reported previously. The internal volumes of the Fe(II) tetrahedral cages have been calculated and increase from 102 ?(3) for [Fe(4)(1)(6)](8+) to 227 ?(3) for [Fe(4)(2)(6)](8+) to 417 ?(3) for [Fe(4)(3)(6)](8+) and to an impressive 839 ?(3) for [Ni(4)(3)(6)](8+). The corresponding void volume in the triple helicate [Ni(2)(2)(3)](4+) is 29 ?(3).  相似文献

Four new complex salts trans[RuIICl(pdma)2LA][PF6]n [pdma = 1,2-phenylenebis(dimethylarsine); LA = 1,4-bis[E-2-(4-pyridyl)ethenyl]benzene (bpvb), n = 1, 1; LA = N-methyl-1,4-bis(E-2-(4-pyridyl)ethenyl)benzene (Mebpvb+), n = 2, 2; LA = N-phenyl-1,4-bis(E-2-(4-pyridyl)ethenyl)benzene (Phbpvb+), n = 2, 3; LA = N-(2-pyrimidyl)-1,4-bis(E-2-(4-pyridyl)ethenyl)benzene (Pymbpvb+), n = 2, 4] have been prepared. The electronic absorption spectra of 1-4 display intense, visible metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) bands, with lambda(max) values in the range 432-474 nm in acetonitrile. Intense intraligand charge-transfer (ILCT) bands due to LA are also observed, with lambda(max) values in the range 350-416 nm. Cyclic voltammetric studies in acetonitrile reveal reversible RuIII/II waves with E(1/2) values of ca. 1.05 V vs Ag/AgCl, together with LA-based reduction processes that are irreversible with the exception of 1. Salts 1-4 have been investigated by using Stark (electroabsorption) spectroscopy in butyronitrile glasses at 77 K. These studies have afforded dipole moment changes, Deltamu12, for the MLCT and ILCT transitions which have been used to calculate molecular static first hyperpolarizabilities, Beta0, according to the two-state equation Beta0 = 3Deltamu12(mu12)2/(Emax)2 (mu12 = transition dipole moment, Emax = MLCT/ILCT energy). In contrast with related RuII ammine complexes, replacement of a central E-ethylene bond with a 1,4-phenylene unit does not appear to be an especially effective strategy for combating the NLO transparency-efficiency tradeoff in these pdma complexes. Single-crystal X-ray studies with the complex salts 2 and 3 and also with the pro-ligand salt [Phbpvb+] PF6.0.5HPF6 show that these materials all adopt centrosymmetric packing structures.  相似文献

N,N'-(2-Hydroxy-propane-1,3-diyl)-bis(5-nitrosalicylaldiminato-N,O)-copper(II) has been synthesized. The crystal structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction analysis, and linear optical characterization has been determined by UV-vis spectroscopy. It was found that the molecule under investigation has solvatochromic behaviour in the UV region, implying non-zero microscopic first hyperpolarizability. To reveal the microscopic nonlinear optical (NLO) properties, the static first hyperpolarizabilities (beta) and the electric dipole moments (mu) were evaluated by using the ab initio finite field (FF) method. According to the results of the FF calculations, the synthesized compound exhibits non-zero beta values, and it might have microscopic NLO behaviour.  相似文献

The syntheses and electrooptic properties of a new family of nonlinear optical chromophores are reported. These species feature an ethyne-elaborated, highly polarizable porphyrinic component and metal polypyridyl complexes that serve as integral donor and acceptor elements. Examples of this structural motif include ruthenium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridinyl))-10,20-bis(2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phenyl)porphinato]zinc(II)-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridine)(2+) bis-hexafluorophosphate (Ru-PZn); osmium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2'-terpyridinyl))-10,20-bis(2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phenyl)porphinato]zinc(II)-(2,2';6',2'-terpyridine)(2+) bis-hexafluorophosphate (Os-PZn); ruthenium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2'-terpyridinyl))-15-(4'-nitrophenyl)ethynyl-10,20-bis(2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phen-yl)porphinato]zinc(II)-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridine)(2+) bis-hexafluorophosphate (Ru-PZn-A); osmium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridinyl))-15-(4'-nitrophenyl)ethynyl-10,20-bis(2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phenyl)porphinato]zinc(II)-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridine)(2+) bis-hexafluorophosphate (Os-PZn-A); and ruthenium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridinyl))osmium(II)-15-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2'-terpyridinyl))-10,20-bis (2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phenyl)porphinato]zinc(II)-bis(2,2';6',2'-terpyridine)(4+) tetrakis-hexafluorophosphate (Ru-PZn-Os). The frequency dependence of the dynamic hyperpolarizability of these compounds was determined from hyperRayleigh light scattering (HRS) measurements carried out at fundamental incident irradiation wavelengths (lambda(inc)) of 800, 1064, and 1300 nm. These data show that (i) coupled oscillator photophysics and metal-mediated cross-coupling can be exploited to elaborate high beta(0) supermolecules that exhibit significant excited-state electronic communication between their respective pigment building blocks; (ii) high-stability metal polypyridyl compounds constitute an attractive alternative to electron releasing dialkyl- and diarylamino groups, the most commonly used donor moieties in a wide range of established nonlinear optical dyes; (iii) this design strategy enables ready elaboration of chromophores having extraordinarily large dynamic hyperpolarizabilities (beta(lambda) values) at telecommunication relevant wavelengths; and (iv) porphyrin B- and Q-state-derived static hyperpolarizabilities (beta(0) values) can be designed to have the same or opposite sign in these species, thus providing a new means to regulate the magnitude of lambda(inc)-specific dynamic hyperpolarizabilities.  相似文献

The complexes of 3,5-dimethoxybenzoates of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) have been synthesized as hydrated polycrystalline solids and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, FIR and electronic spectroscopy, magnetic studies and X-ray diffraction measurements. They possess colours typical of the M(II) ions: Cu-blue, Ni-green, Co-pink. The carboxylate groups bind as monodentate or a symmetrical, bidentate chelating or bridging ligands. The thermal stabilities were determined in air. When heated they dehydrate to form anhydrous salts which are decomposed to the oxides of respective metals. The magnetic susceptibilities of the complexes were measured over the range 77-300 K and the magnetic moments were calculated. The results reveal the complexes of Ni(II) and Co(II) to be high-spin complexes and that of Cu(II) to form dimer.  相似文献

Thermally stable dipolar and octupolar (D2d, D3) NLO-phores are readily accessible by combining one, two, or three 4,4'-bis(dialkylaminostyryl)-[2,2']-bipyridyl ligands with zinc(II) salts. The off-resonant beta0 values point out the superiority of octupoles versus dipoles in terms of nonlinearity/transparency tradeoff. The octahedral tris(bipyridyl)zinc(II) complex exhibits a very large beta0 value (241 x 10-30 esu), which is the largest ever reported for octupolar molecules.  相似文献

EPR spectroscopy was chosen to investigate the ligand exchange reactions between copper(II) bis(dithiocarbamate), Cu(dtc)2, and copper(II) salts which proceeds with the formation of mixed-ligand complexes of the type Cu(dtc)X, where X = Cl, NO3, ClO4. Large concentrations of 1:1 mixed-ligand complexes of this type are obtained as indicated by the EPR spectra of acetone, CHCl3/EtOH, CHCl3/i-PrOH, CCl4/EtOH and CCl4/i-PrOH, solutions of Cu(dtc)2 and the appropriate copper(II) salt CuCl2, Cu(NO3)2 or Cu(ClO4)2. Double integration of Cu(dtc)2 EPR signals obtained at temperatures between 240 and 310 K affords the calculation of the equilibrium constant (K) of the reaction: Cu(dtc)2 + CuX2 <==> 2 Cu(dtc)X in all solvents as a function of T. From the values of K the stability constant beta of the mixed-ligand complexes has been derived. The error associated with the calculated stability constant is +/- 10%. Thermodynamic parameters (deltaH0, deltaG0 and deltaS0) are determined from the temperature dependence of K as measured by EPR spectroscopy.  相似文献

A comprehensive photophysical study is presented which compares the ground- and excited-state properties of four platinum(II) terpyridyl acetylide compounds of the general formula [Pt(tBu3tpy)(CCR)]+, where tBu3tpy is 4,4',4' '-tri-tert-butyl-2,2':6',2' '-terpyridine and R is an alkyl or aryl group. [Ru(tBu3tpy)3]2+ and the pivotal synthetic precursor [Pt(tBu3tpy)Cl]+ were also investigated in the current work. The latter two complexes possess short excited-state lifetimes and were investigated using ultrafast spectrometry while the other four compounds were evaluated using conventional nanosecond transient-absorption spectroscopy. The original intention of this study was to comprehend the nature of the impressive excited-state absorptions that emanate from this class of transition-metal chromophores. Transient-absorbance-difference spectra across the series contain the same salient features, which are modulated only slightly in wavelength and markedly in intensity as a function of the appended acetylide ligand. More intense absorption transients are observed in the arylacetylide structures relative to those bearing an alkylacetylide, consistent with transitions coupled to the pi system of the ancillary ligand. Reductive spectroelectrochemical measurements successfully generated the electronic spectrum of the tBu3tpy radical anion in all six complexes at room temperature. These measurements confirm that electronic absorptions associated with the tBu3tpy radical anion simply do not account for the intense optical transitions observed in the excited state of the Pt(II) chromophores. Transient-trapping experiments using the spectroscopically silent reductive quencher DABCO clearly demonstrate the loss of most transient-absorption features in the acetylide complexes throughout the UV, visible, and near-IR regions following bimolecular excited-state electron transfer, suggesting that these features are strongly tied to the photogenerated hole which is delocalized across the Pt center and the ancillary acetylide ligand.  相似文献

The synthesis of 4'-(C6H4-p-NBU2)-2,2':6',2" -terpyridine and the strongly enhanced second-order NLO response of its Zn(II), Ru(III) and Ir(III)complexes are reported, evidencing for the first time a shift from positive to negative value of the ligand quadratic hyperpolarizability by varying the nature of the metal centre. .  相似文献
