Propagation of electromagnetic waves in an elliptic waveguide filled with plasma is investigated in elliptic co-ordinates. Dispersion relations for the natural modes of oscillation are obtained. Expressions for power transmitted along the waveguide are obtained as integrals of Mathieu functions. Dispersion relations for circular waveguides are also obtained as limiting cases.One of the authors (S. K. By means of an electrodynamical analysis we reveal the influence of the finite conductivity of the n+ substrate on the dispersion of electromagnetic waves in an active strip transmission line (ASTL) based on the distributed thin film semiconductor structure metal-n-n+. The generation of rf oscillation when an electromagnetic shock runs in synchronism with a backward wave in coupled transmission lines with normal and anomalous dispersions and ferrite-related nonlinearity is considered. The oscillation damping can be significantly reduced if a large portion of the rf energy flux is directed to the anomalous-dispersion line, where rf losses are relatively low. 相似文献

It is shown that the continuity conditions of Lichnerowicz must generally be relaxed in favour of the O'Brien-Synge conditions in the case of shock electromagnetic waves. This is in particular true when two electromagnetic shock waves are in collision. Gravitational impulse waves are produced as a result of the weakened conditions. An exact solution exhibiting this behaviour is derived, and the effect of the impulse waves on a measuring device are compared with experimental results of Weber. 相似文献

A numerical solution is given for the problem of characteristic electromagnetic waves in a circular waveguide with a biisotropic
rod. The dependences of the propagation constants of the different wave modes on the chirality parameter, nonreciprocity,
and permittivity of the rod are obtained. The results presented can be useful when developing devices and measuring the parameters
of biisotropic materials.

This paper reviews our recent experimental and simulation results regarding the electromagnetic wave transmission through
three configurations of sandwiching structures of metamaterials: a metallic mesh sandwiched between two identical layers composed
of split rings, metallic fractals, and fractal slits, respectively. We observed the enhanced transmission of the waves through
these three types of sandwiching composites with respect to the opaque metallic mesh. The locations of the transmission peaks
in the spectrum are associated closely with the band characteristics of the sandwiching layer by appearing either on the left-
or the right-hand side of its band.

Electromagnetic waves in the most general linear reciprocal uniaxial media are considered. The theory is appropriate for novel reciprocal microwave materials which have properties of chiral composites and omega structures (or both) and can be modeled by uniaxial bianisotropic constitutive relations. Field coupling terms in the media equations are assumed to be the most general uniaxial dyadics with symmetric and antisymmetric components. Summary We have modelled gravity waves in shallow water by means of non-linear transmission lines working in the radiofrequency range.
The analogy between a one-dimensional shallow-water medium and a transmission line is demonstrated by the similarities of
both their non-linear and dispersive properties. We discuss the results of our experiments on specially constructed radiofrequency
models, and compare them with the observations of other authors on shallow-water sea swell. The formation of the shallow-water
swell spectrum may be explained, in a whole variety of cases, by the non-linear mixing of the spectral components of waves
approaching the shore. This is accompanied by both up- and down-conversion of the wave energy. 相似文献
