We present a design study of a free electron laser (FEL) oscillator for high power THz source experiments on the basis of the Shanghai femtosecond accelerator device. A circular groove guide is used as a new interaction structure. Plane metal meshes are used as upstream and downstream mirrors of the resonator. The general design parameters are presented. We analyzed the spontaneous emission and stimulated emission in the oscillator using these parameters.  相似文献

A continuous-wave fiber laser characterization based on a Findlay–Clay analysis is proposed. With this procedure, commonly used for solid-state lasers, information about saturation power and reabsorption loss is obtained. The knowledge of these parameters is commonly sufficient for a number of fiber oscillator design issues, but it also allows estimating values for fabrication dependent parameters, such as absorption and emission cross-sections, doping concentrations and dopant effective diffusion areas. As an application example, a single-mode low-power oscillator employing standard and well-known fiber components has been studied, providing values in good agreement with previously reported spectroscopical measurements.  相似文献

A meminductor is a new type of memory device developed from the memristor.We present a mathematical model of a flux-controlled meminductor and its equivalent circuit model for exploring the properties of the meminductor in a nonlinear circuit.We explore the response characteristics of the meminductor under the exciting signals of sinusoidal,square,and triangular waves by using theoretical analysis and experimental tests,and design a meminductor-based oscillator based on the model.Theoretical analysis and experiments show that the meminductor-based oscillator possesses complex bifurcation behaviors and can generate periodic and chaotic oscillations.A special phenomenon called the co-existent oscillation that can generate multiple oscillations(such as chaotic,periodic oscillations as well as stable equilibrium) with the same parameters and different initial conditions occurs.We also design an analog circuit to realize the meminductor-based oscillator,and the circuit experiment results are in accordance with the theory analysis.  相似文献

In this paper, we have analyzed the design parameters of the axially - extracted virtual cathode oscillator, which is high-power microwave source based on the concept of the virtual cathode associated with the intense relativistic electrons beam oscillations in the electrostatic potential well. The microwave emission by the virtual cathode oscillator results from both the space and time oscillations of virtual cathode and reflexing electrons trapped in the potential well between the virtual and real cathodes. In the X-band frequency spectrum 700 MW microwave peak power has been obtained analytically by the solid electron beam of 300 kV and 20 kA for feasible design parameters. The analysis has been performed by 2-dimensional, relativistic, electromagnetic particle-in-cell simulation code XOOPIC.  相似文献

采用粒子模拟研究了同轴波导虚阴极振荡器二极管参数对微波效率和频率的影响,得到了由二极管参数改变引起的二极管阻抗变化及其对微波效率的影响规律. 借鉴具有慢波结构的高功率微波器件中微波模式特性阻抗的计算方法,给出同轴波导虚阴极振荡器中微波主模式特性阻抗的理论计算公式. 将理论计算结果与由粒子模拟对器件进行优化后得到的二极管阻抗进行比较,发现当反映电子束特性的二极管阻抗与微波主模式特性阻抗匹配时,虚阴极振荡器具有较高的束波功率转换效率. 进一步用特性阻抗对其他几种典型结构的虚阴极振荡器进行分析,验证了该方法的合理性,为设计高效率虚阴极振荡器提供了理论指导. 关键词: 虚阴极振荡器 同轴波导 二极管参数 特性阻抗  相似文献

We describe the design of a waveguide planar Schottky-diode mixer for frequencies of about 200 GHz and a measurement system for testing the mixer performance. A backward-wave oscillator with a frequency doubler was used as the local oscillator. The results of room-temperature measurements of the mixer conversion losses and noise temperature as functions of the frequency and power of the local oscillator are presented.  相似文献

We present an efficient design for direct coupling between a spiral-shaped and a semicircle-shaped microcavity (micro-cavity) as an alternative to traditional evanescent wave coupling for planar integrated photonic technology. We observe the preservation of the high Q-value of the spiral oscillator when coupled to a semicircle under current injection using an AlGaAs single-quantum-well heterostructure. With slight alterations to the directly coupled micro-cavity configuration, such as coupling shape and overlap distance, the number of observed modes and output intensity are changed. AlGaAs and InGaN spiral-shaped microcavities have unidirectional emission normal to the spiral notch.  相似文献

We demonstrate a master-oscillator fiber power-amplifier system consisting of a diode-pumped monolithic nonplanar ring oscillator as the master oscillator and a Nd:glass double-clad fiber as the power amplifier. The system emits up to 5.5 W of single-frequency radiation at a wavelength of 1064 nm with an M(2) value of ~1.1 . The optical emission spectrum is investigated with respect to the background of residual amplified spontaneous emission. Spectrally resolved amplitude-noise behavior is examined. Further power-scaling possibilities are discussed.  相似文献

We present an all-fiber 1150 nm Yb-doped fiber laser oscillator pumped by a 976 nm laser diode. To suppress amplified spontaneous emission and avoid parasitic laser oscillation, we propose a long-length gain fiber and a high-reflectivity output fiber Bragg grating in the fiber laser oscillator. The 1150 nm band single-mode fiber laser with output power of 20.5 W is demonstrated at room temperature. The optical-to-optical conversion efficiency ranges up to 51.6% at the maximum output. The central wavelength of the fiber laser oscillator is 1150.35 nm, and its 3 dB spectral width is 0.72 nm. No evidence of amplified spontaneous emission, residual pump light, or parasitic laser oscillation were observed in the experiments. The high-power 1150 nm fiber laser oscillator can be used as a pump source in the development of a 3 μm Ho-doped fiber laser.  相似文献

We study the photon generation in a transmission line oscillator coupled to a driven qubit in the presence of a dissipative electromagnetic environment. It has been demonstrated previously that a population inversion in the qubit can lead to a lasing state of the oscillator. Here we show that the circuit can also exhibit the effect of "lasing without inversion." It arises since the coupling to the dissipative environment enhances photon emission as compared to absorption, similar to the recoil effect predicted for atomic systems. While the recoil effect is very weak, and so far elusive, the effect described here should be observable with realistic circuits. We analyze the requirements for system parameters and environment.  相似文献

The binding energy of an exciton in a wurtzite GaN/GaAlN strained cylindrical quantum dot is investigated theoretically.The strong built-in electric field due to the spontaneous and piezoelectric polarizations of a GaN/GaAlN quantum dot is included.Numerical calculations are performed using a variational procedure within the single band effective mass approximation.Valence-band anisotropy is included in our theoretical model by using different hole masses in different spatial directions.The exciton oscillator strength and the exciton lifetime for radiative recombination each as a function of dot radius have been computed.The result elucidates that the strong built-in electric field influences the oscillator strength and the recombination life time of the exciton.It is observed that the ground state exciton binding energy and the interband emission energy increase when the cylindrical quantum dot height or radius is decreased,and that the exciton binding energy,the oscillator strength and the radiative lifetime each as a function of structural parameters (height and radius) sensitively depend on the strong built-in electric field.The obtained results are useful for the design of some opto-photoelectronic devices.  相似文献

In this work, we propose an efficient method to investigate optical properties as well as their dependence on geometrical parameters in InAs/InAlAs quantum wires. The used method is based on the coordinate transformation and the finite difference method. It provides sufficient accuracy, stability and flexibility with respect to the size and shape of the quantum wire. The electron and hole energy levels as well as their corresponding wave functions are investigated for different shape of quantum wires. The optical transition energies, the emission wavelengths and the oscillator strengths are also studied.  相似文献

An infrared oscillator FEL user facility will be built at the National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory at in Hefei, China. In this paper, the parameter design of the oscillator FEL is discussed, and some original relevant approaches and expressions are presented. Analytic formulae are used to estimate the optical field gain and saturation power for the preliminary design. By considering both physical and technical constraints, the relation of the deflection parameter K to the undulator period is analyzed. This helps us to determine the ranges of the magnetic pole gap,the electron energy and the radiation wavelength. The relations and design of the optical resonator parameters are analyzed. Using dimensionless quantities, the interdependences between the radii of curvature of the resonator mirror and the various parameters of the optical resonator are clearly demonstrated. The effect of the parallel-plate waveguide is analyzed for the far-infrared oscillator FEL. The condition of the necessity of using a waveguide and the modified filling factor in the case of the waveguide are given, respectively.  相似文献

We demonstrate a novel frequency-stabilization scheme for laser diodes that is capable of linewidth reduction by more than 5 orders of magnitude. In this master-slave scheme the diode laser emission is frequency-offset phase locked to the emission of an electro-optic parametric oscillator (EOPO), and the laser diode is simultaneously used as the EOPO pump source. As a result the initial frequency fluctuations of the pump are reduced to the intrinsic noise level of the EOPO, which can be extremely small. We demonstrate that subhertz linewidths of the beat notes of the signals of two of these systems can be readily achieved if acoustic perturbations are suppressed.  相似文献

北京自由电子激光装置(BFEL)是一台工作在中红外区的康普顿型FEL振荡器。由一台30MeV的射频电子直线加速器提供电子束。特点之一是用微波电子枪作为高亮度注入器。本文首先概述了BFEL的一般情形和物理参数.接着用解析公式和模拟的方法论证了电子束的设计目标和激光器的运转特征。最后阐述了BFEL各部分采取的技术路线的特点,内容包括微波枪、加速器和微波系统、调制器、输运系统、摇摆磁铁、光学腔、电子束诊断、准直、自发辐射和激光实验。  相似文献

We use a pair of copper-vapor lasers in the oscillator–amplifier configuration for investigating the small-signal gain and the intensity saturation as the amplifying parameters, versus the pressure of various types of buffer gases. We show that the small-signal gain increases and the intensity saturation decreases with increase in the air pressure. Moreover, the values of these parameters are different for various gases used in the amplifier media. We show that both parameters are greater at the atmosphere of neon as a buffer gas than that of a mixture of helium and neon or air.  相似文献

设计了高电流密度圆柱状电子枪,并分析了枪体参数对电子注品质的影响;运用径向力平衡理论计算了聚焦磁场.三维模拟软件CSTPARTICLESTUDIO模拟显示,在枪体电极和空间电荷形成的静电场,以及聚焦磁场作用下,电子呈角向先变速后匀速螺旋状运动,其旋转半径始终与出射阴极面时的半径相同,从而在枪区和互作用通道内维持了注包络水平.模拟结果与设计理论相符.注平均电流密度达到24·4A/cm2,层流性良好,填充因子76·7%,流通率100%.  相似文献
