In this article, without computing exact gradient and Jacobian, we proposed a derivative-free Polak-Ribière-Polyak (PRP) method for solving nonlinear equations whose Jacobian is symmetric. This method is a generalization of the classical PRP method for unconstrained optimization problems. By utilizing the symmetric structure of the system sufficiently, we prove global convergence of the proposed method with some backtracking type line search under suitable assumptions. Moreover, we extend the proposed method to nonsmooth equations by adopting the smoothing technique. We also report some numerical results to show its efficiency.  相似文献

In this paper, by the use of the project of the PRP (Polak–Ribiére–Polyak) conjugate gradient direction, we develop a PRP-based descent method for solving unconstrained optimization problem. The method provides a sufficient descent direction for the objective function. Moreover, if exact line search is used, the method reduces to the standard PRP method. Under suitable conditions, we show that the method with some backtracking line search or the generalized Wolfe-type line search is globally convergent. We also report some numerical results and compare the performance of the method with some existing conjugate gradient methods. The results show that the proposed method is efficient.  相似文献

基于著名的PRP共轭梯度方法,利用CG_DESCENT共轭梯度方法的结构,本文提出了一种求解大规模无约束最优化问题的修正PRP共轭梯度方法。该方法在每一步迭代中均能够产生一个充分下降的搜索方向,且独立于任何线搜索条件。在标准Wolfe线搜索条件下,证明了修正PRP共轭梯度方法的全局收敛性和线性收敛速度。数值结果展示了修正PRP方法对给定的测试问题是非常有效的。  相似文献

In this paper, a modified formula for βk^PRP is proposed for the conjugate gradient method of solving unconstrained optimization problems. The value of βk^PRP keeps nonnegative independent of the line search. Under mild conditions, the global convergence of modified PRP method with the strong Wolfe-Powell line search is established. 本文对无约束优化问题提出一个自适应信赖域方法,每次迭代都充分利用前迭代点的信息自动产生一个恰当的信赖域半径,在此区域内,二次模型与原目标函数尽可能一致,避免盲目的尝试,提高了计算效率。文中在通常条件下证明了全局收敛性及局部超线性收敛结果,给出了新算法与传统信赖域方法的数值结果,证实了新方法的有效性。  相似文献

In this article, a modified PRP algorithm is presented for unconstrained optimization problems. This method possesses sufficiently descent property and the proposed direction is in a trust region. This paper gives a modified PRP method which possesses the global convergence of nonconvex function and the R-linear convergence rate of uniformly convex function. Furthermore, the presented method has sufficiently descent property and characteristic of automatically being in a trust region without carrying out any line search technique. In this paper, a modified SQP method with nonmonotone line search technique is presented based on the modified quadratic subproblem proposed in Zhou (1997) and the nonmonotone line search technique. This algorithm starts from an arbitrary initial point, adjusts penalty parameter automatically and can overcome the Maratos effect. What is more, the subproblem is feasible at each iterate point. The global and local superlinear convergence properties are obtained under certain conditions.  相似文献

The BFGS method is the most effective of the quasi-Newton methods for solving unconstrained optimization problems. Wei, Li, and Qi [16] have proposed some modified BFGS methods based on the new quasi-Newton equation B k+1 s k = y* k , where y* k is the sum of y k and A k s k, and A k is some matrix. The average performance of Algorithm 4.3 in [16] is better than that of the BFGS method, but its superlinear convergence is still open. In this paper, we study a gradient-based continuous method for large-scale optimization problems. By converting the optimization problem into an ODE, we are able to show that the solution trajectory of this ODE tends to the set of stationary points of the original optimization problem. We test our continuous method on large-scale problems available in the literature.
