一类非线性抛物方程的初边值问题

本文研究了一类非线性抛物方程的初边值问题,即ut-f(u)xx=0,x∈R+,f'(u)＞0,u(0,t)=u_,t≥0;u(+∞,0)=u+.这里我们考虑一般情形,即u_≠u+.在某种小性条件下,我们证明了以上抛物方程的解存在且当时间充分大时,解趋近该问题的自相似解(-u)(x/√1+t).我们还进-步得到了解的最优衰减速度为(1+t)-1/4.     

Averaged Wave Operators and Complex-symmetric Operators

We study the behaviour of sequences \(U_2^n X U_1^{-n}\), where \(U_1, U_2\) are unitary operators, whose spectral measures are singular with respect to the Lebesgue measure, and the commutator \(XU_1-U_2X\) is small in a sense. The conjecture about the weak averaged convergence of the difference \(U_2^n X U_1^{-n}-U_2^{-n} X U_1^n\) to the zero operator is discussed and its connection with complex-symmetric operators is established in a general situation. For a model case where \(U_1=U_2\) is the unitary operator of multiplication by z on \(L^2(\mu )\), sufficient conditions for the convergence as in the Conjecture are given in terms of kernels of integral operators.     

A Nonhomogeneous Boundary Value Problem for the Boussinesq Equation on a Bounded Domain

In this paper, we study the well-posedness of an initial-boundary-value problem (IBVP) for the Boussinesq equation on a bounded domain,\begin{cases} &u_{tt}-u_{xx}+(u^2)_{xx}+u_{xxxx}=0,\quad x\in (0,1), \;\;t>0,\\ &u(x,0)=\varphi(x),\;\;\; u_t(x,0)=ψ(x),\\ &u(0,t)=h_1(t),\;\;\;u(1,t)=h_2(t),\;\;\;u_{xx}(0,t)=h_3(t),\;\;\;u_{xx}(1,t)=h_4(t).\\ \end{cases} It is shown that the IBVP is locally well-posed in the space $H^s (0,1)$ for any $s\geq 0$ with the initial data $\varphi,$ $\psi$ lie in $H^s(0,1)$ and $ H^{s-2}(0,1)$, respectively, and the naturally compatible boundary data $h_1,$ $h_2$ in the space $H_{loc}^{(s+1)/2}(\mathbb{R}^+)$, and $h_3 $, $h_4$ in the the space of $H_{loc}^{(s-1)/2}(\mathbb{R}^+)$ with optimal regularity.

On a theorem of lovász on covers inr-partite hypergraphs

A theorem of Lovász asserts that (H)/*(H)r/2 for everyr-partite hypergraphH (where and * denote the covering number and fractional covering number respectively). Here it is shown that the same upper bound is valid for a more general class of hypergraphs: those which admit a partition (V ₁, ...,V _k ) of the vertex set and a partitionp ₁+...+p _k ofr such that |eV _i |p _i r/2 for every edgee and every 1ik. Moreover, strict inequality holds whenr>2, and in this form the bound is tight. The investigation of the ratio /* is extended to some other classes of hypergraphs, defined by conditions of similar flavour. Five Kinds of Maximal Monotonicity

We discuss Gossez's type (D) maximal monotone multifunctions and the newer type (ED) subfamily (for which an analog of the Brøndsted-Rockafellar property holds). We then discuss the locally maximal monotone (= type (FP)) and maximal monotone locally (= type (FPV)) multifunctions of Fitzpatrick-Phelps and Fitzpatrick-Phelps-Verona-Verona. Finally, we discuss the strongly maximal monotone multifunctions. We prove that every maximal monotone multifunction of type (D) is locally maximal monotone, and every maximal monotone multifunction of type (ED) is both maximal monotone locally and strongly maximal monotone.

A twistor construction of Kähler submanifolds of a quaternionic Kähler manifold

A class of minimal almost complex submanifolds of a Riemannian manifold with a parallel quaternionic structure Q, in particular of a 4-dimensional oriented Riemannian manifold, is studied. A notion of Kähler submanifold is defined. Any Kähler submanifold is pluriminimal. In the case of a quaternionic Kähler manifold of non zero scalar curvature, in particular, when is an Einstein, non Ricci-flat, anti-self-dual 4-manifold, we give a twistor construction of Kähler submanifolds M²ⁿ of maximal possible dimension 2n. More precisely, we prove that any such Kähler submanifold M²ⁿ of is the projection of a holomorphic Legendrian submanifold of the twistor space of , considered as a complex contact manifold with the natural holomorphic contact structure . Any Legendrian submanifold of the twistor space is defined by a generating holomorphic function. This is a natural generalization of Bryants construction of superminimal surfaces in S⁴=P¹.
