CaAl2O4:Eu2+ co-doped with varying concentrations of Er3+ was prepared by solid-state reaction method. Prepared materials with 1 mol% Eu2+ and 2-10 mol% of Er3+ were investigated for their photoluminescence properties. Phase, morphology and crystalline structure were investigated by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Broad band UV-excited luminescence was observed for CaAl2O4:Eu2+, Er3+ in the blue region (λmax=440 nm) due to transitions from 4f65d1 to the 4f7 configuration of the Eu2+ ion. The Er3+ ion co-doping generates deep traps, which results in longer decay time for phosphorescence.  相似文献

Optical transitions in normal-spinel Co3O4 have been identified by investigating the variation of its optical absorption spectrum with the replacement of Co by Zn. Three optical-transition structures were located at about 1.65, 2.4, and 2.8 eV from the measured dielectric function of Co3O4 by spectroscopic ellipsometry. The variation of the absorption structures with the Zn substitution (ZnxCo3−xO4) can be explained in terms of charge-transfer transitions involving d states of Co ions. The 1.65 eV structure is assigned to a d-d charge-transfer transition between the t2g states of octahedral Co3+ ion and t2 states of tetrahedral Co2+ ion, t2g(Co3+)→t2(Co2+). The 2.4 and 2.8 eV structures are interpreted as due to charge-transfer transitions involving the p states of O2− ion: p(O2−)→t2(Co2+) for the 2.4 eV absorption and p(O2−)→eg(Co3+) for the 2.8 eV absorption. The observed gradual reduction of the 1.65 and 2.4 eV absorption strength with the increase of the Zn composition for ZnxCo3−xO4 can be explained in terms of the substitution of the tetrahedral Co2+ sites by Zn2+ ions. The crystal-field splitting ΔOh between the eg and the t2g states of the octahedral Co3+ ion is estimated to be 2 eV.  相似文献

The dielectric properties of LiMn2O4, LiMn1.6Ti0.4O4 and LiMn1.5Ni0.5O4 powders, synthesized by sol-gel method, were determined by analyzing the low-loss region of the electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) spectrum in a transmission electron microscope. From these data, the optical joint density of states (OJDS) was obtained by Kramers-Kronig analysis. Since maxima observed in the OJDS spectra are assigned to interband transitions above the Fermi level, these spectra can be interpreted on the basis of calculated density of states (DOS), carried out with the CASTEP code. Experimental and theoretical results are in good agreement.  相似文献

Phosphor material BaAl2O4:Eu2+, Dy3+ with varying compositions of Sr substitution were prepared by the solid-state synthesis method. The phosphor compositions were characterized for their phase and crystallinity by XRD, SEM and TEM. Photoluminescence (PL) properties were investigated measuring PL and decay time for varying Ba/Sr compositions. The PL results show the blue shift in the luminescence properties in Sr substituted BaAl2O4:Eu2+, Dy3+ compared to parent BaAl2O4:Eu2+, Dy3+. It is probably due to the influence of 5d electron states of Eu2+ in the crystal field because of atomic size variation causing crystal defects. Dy3+ ion doping in the phosphor generates deep traps, which results in long afterglow phosphorescence.  相似文献

Green phosphor compositions MgxSr1−xAl2O4:Eu, Nd (with x=0.05-0.25) were prepared by solid state reaction method. The effect of Mg substitution on photoluminescence characteristics was investigated. The photoluminescence show intense green emission for MgSrAl2O4:Eu2+, Nd3+ with long persistence. This green emission corresponds to transitions from 4f65d1 to 4f7 of Eu2+ ion. Comparative analysis of the excitation and emission spectra were used to evaluate the crystal field splitting of the 5d states of Eu2+ and the parameters of electron-vibrational interaction, such as Huang-Rhys factor, effective phonon energy, and zero-phonon line position.  相似文献

Superhard materials have many industrial applications, wherever resistance to abrasion and wear are important. The synthesis of new superhard materials is one of the great challenges to scientists. We re-examined the phase diagram of the binary osmium-boron system and confirmed the existence of two hexagonal phases, OsB1.1, Os2B3, and an orthorhombic phase, OsB2. Almost nothing is known about the physical properties of osmium borides. Microhardness measurements show that OsB2 is extremely hard. Ab initio calculations show that this is due to formation of covalent bonds between boron atoms. OsB2 is also a low compressibility material. It can be used as hard coating.  相似文献

Stabled hexagonal phase Sr1−xBaxAl2O4:Eu2+ (x=0.37-0.70) was prepared by solid-state method. Result revealed that the structure behavior of the SrAl2O4:Eu2+ calcined at 1350 °C in a reducing atmosphere for 5 h strongly depended on the Ba2+ concentration. With increasing Ba2+ concentration, a characteristic hexagonal phase can be observed. When 37-70% of the strontium is replaced by barium, the structure of the prepared sample is pure hexagonal. Photoluminescence and excitation spectra of the samples with different x and doped with 2% Eu2+ were investigated. Changes in the emission spectra were observed in the two different phases. The green emission at 505 nm from Eu2+ was found to be quite strong in the hexagonal phase. The intensity and peak position of the green luminescence from Eu2+ changed with increasing content of Ba2+. The strongest green emission was obtained from Sr0.61Ba0.37Al2O4:Eu2+. The decay characteristics of Sr1−xBaxAl2O4:Eu2+ (x=0.37-0.70) showed that the life times also varied with the value of x. Furthermore, the emission colors and decay times varying with x could be ascribed to the variation of crystal lattice.  相似文献

Comparative crystal structure and magnetic properties studies have been conducted on quaternary powder spinel samples LiMn1.82Cr0.18O4 obtained by two different synthesis methods, glycine-nitrate (GN) and ultrasonic spray-pyrolysis (SP). Although both samples possess the same spinel structure of the cubic space group Fd3¯m, their low-temperature magnetic properties display significant differences. While the SP sample undergoes only spin-glass transition at the freezing temperature Tf=20 K, the GN sample possesses more complicated low-temperature magnetic behavior of the reentrant spin-glass type with the Néel temperature TN=42 K and freezing temperature Tf=22 K. High-temperature magnetic susceptibility of both samples is of the Curie–Weiss type with the effective magnetic moments in agreement with the nominal compositions. This fact together with the results of the chemical analysis discards the existence of the diversity in chemical compositions as a possible cause for the observed differences in the low-temperature magnetism. On the other hand, the crystal structure analysis done by the Rietveld refinement of the X-ray powder diffraction data points to the strong influence of the cation distribution on the ground-state magnetism of these systems. An explanation of this influence is proposed within the framework of a collective Jahn–Teller effect.  相似文献

Based on first principles calculations, we show that Mn impurities are magnetic in MgB2 due to exchange-splitting of band. Thus, Mn impurities could act as strong magnetic scattering centres leading to pair-breaking effects in MgB2. In contrast, we find Fe impurities in MgB2 to be nearly non-magnetic.  相似文献

We have performed an ab initio study of structural, electronic, magnetic, vibrational and thermal properties of the cubic spinel LiMn2O4 by employing the density functional theory, the linear-response formalism, and the plane-wave pseudopotential method. An analysis of the electronic structure with the help of electronic density of states shows that the density of states at the Fermi level (N (EF)) is found to be governed by the Mn 3d electrons with some contributions from the 2p states of O atoms. It is important to note that the contribution of Mn 3d states to N(EF)N(EF) is as much as 85%. From our phonon calculations, we have obtained that the main contribution to phonon density of states (below 250 cm−1) comes from the coupled motion of Mn and O atoms while phonon modes between 250 cm−1 and 375 cm−1 are characterized by the vibrations of all the three types of atoms. The contribution from Li increases rapidly at higher frequency (above 375 cm−1) due to the light mass of this atom. Finally, the specific heat and the Debye temperature at 300 K are calculated to be 249.29 J/mol K and 820.80 K respectively.  相似文献

Al-doped lithium manganese spinels, with starting composition Li1.02AlxMn1.98−xO4 (0.00<x≤0.06), are investigated to determine the influence of the Al3+ doping on the Jahn-Teller (J-T) cooperative transition temperature TJ-T. X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), nuclear magnetic resonance, electron paramagnetic resonance, conductivity and magnetic susceptibility data are put into relation with the tetrahedral and octahedral occupancy fraction of the spinel sites and with the homogeneous distribution of the Al3+ ions in the spinel phase. It is observed that Al3+ may distribute between the two cationic sublattices. The J-T distortion, associated with a drop of conductivity near room temperature in the undoped sample, is shifted towards lower temperature by very low substitution. However, for x>0.04 TJ-T it increases with increasing x, as clearly evidenced in low temperature XRPD observations. A charge distribution model in the cationic sublattice, for Al substitution, is proposed to explain this peculiar behavior.  相似文献

The electronic structure of the highly ordered alloy Cr3Co with the DO3 structure has been studied by FLAPW calculations. It is found that the ferrimagnetic state is stable and that the equilibrium lattice constant of Cr3Co equals 5.77 Å. A large peak in majority spin density of states (DOS) and an energy gap in minority spin DOS are observed at the Fermi level, which results in a high spin polarization of 90% in the ordered alloy Cr3Co. The total magnetic moment of Cr3Co is 3.12μB, which is close to the ideal value of 3μB derived from the Slater-Pauling curve. An antiparallel alignment between the moments on the Cr (A, C) sites and the Cr (B) sites is observed. Finally, the effect of lattice distortion on the electronic structure and on magnetic properties of Cr3Co compound is studied. A spin polarization higher than 80% can be obtained between 5.55 and 5.90 Å. With increasing lattice constant, the magnetic moments on the (A, C) sites increase and the moments on the (B, D) sites decrease. They compensate each other and make the total magnetic moment change only slightly.  相似文献

Nano-structured TiO2/carbon clusters/Cr2O3 composite material has been successfully obtained by the microwave treatment of a TiO(acac)/Cr(acac)3/epoxy resin complex. The compositions of the composite materials were determined using ICP, elemental analysis and surface characterization by SEM-EDX, TEM and XRD. ESR spectral examinations suggest the possibility of an electron transfer in the process of TiO2 → carbon clusters → Cr2O3 with an oxidation site at TiO2 particles and a reduction site at Cr2O3 particles. The preliminary experimental results show that the calcined materials could decompose methylene blue under visible-light irradiation.  相似文献

First principle calculations have been performed with the purpose to understand the peculiarities of the structural, elastic parameters and electronic properties and interatomic bonding for novel hexagonal carbide (W0.5Al0.5)C in comparison with binary phases WC and Al4C3. The geometries of all phases were optimized and their structural, elastic parameters and theoretical density were established. Besides, we have evaluated the formation energies (Eform) of W0.5Al0.5C for different possible preparation routes (namely for the reactions with the participation of simple substances (metallic W, Al and graphite, binary W or Al carbides and metallic Al and W, or binary W and Al carbides). The results show that the synthesis of the ternary carbide from simple substances is more favorable in comparison with the reactions with participation of W and Al carbides. Moreover, band structures, total and partial densities of states were obtained and analyzed systematically for (W0.5Al0.5)C, WC and Al4C3 phases in comparison with available theoretical and experimental data. The bonding picture in W0.5Al0.5C was described as a mixture of metallic, ionic and covalent contributions with the high anisotropy for the covalent W-C and Al-C bonds, where p-p like Al-C bonds become weaker than p-d like W-C bonds.  相似文献

Micron-sized LiMn2O4 particles were easily coated on LiCoO2 cathodes using an amphoteric gelatin surfactant at pH4–5. The coated LiCoO2 material showed a significantly higher thermal stability during charging and capacity retention on cycling at 4.6 V, compared to the bare LiCoO2.  相似文献

Hierarchical MnO2 submicrospheres have been successfully synthesized by a wet chemical method. The as-prepared products were characterized by means of XRD, SEM, FTIR, TG, and TEM. With the as-prepared MnO2 submicrospheres as precursors, LiMn2O4 microspheres were conveniently prepared by a simple solid-state reaction between MnO2 and LiOH at a temperature as low as 600 °C. Electrochemical properties of the as-prepared MnO2 submicrospheres and LiMn2O4 microspheres as cathode materials in lithium ion cells were investigated by galvanostatic charge/discharge tests.  相似文献

Newly synthesized reference MgLaLiSi2O7 and red luminescent Eu3+:MgLaLiSi2O7 powder phosphors have been successfully developed by a solid-state reaction method to analyze their emission and structural properties from the measurement of their XRD, SEM, FTIR and PL spectra. Emission spectra of Eu3+ powder phosphors have shown strong red emissions at 613 nm (5D07F2). These phosphors have also shown bright red emissions under a UV source. Based on the red emission performance, the Eu3+ concentration has been optimized to be at 0.3 mol%.  相似文献

The electronic structures of CaCu3Mn4O12 and CaCu3Ti4O12 are investigated from HF SCF LCAO calculation. In CaCu3Mn4O12, the band and the density of states show a spin asymmetric ferrimagnetic character with a small energy gap. The Mn spin is anti-aligned with the Cu spin, and the total spin moment is 9 μB. Our calculation correctly reproduces the observed antiferromagnetic insulating character of CaCu3Ti4O12. The gap in the band structure, which is 2.15 eV, reasonably agrees with the experimental value 1.5 eV. The electron density populations at different planes show clearly that the electron density has symmetric character. A tilted Mn(Ti) orbital implies a typical tilted three-dimensional network of MnO6 (TiO6) octahedra due to doping of the Jahn–Teller ion Cu. There is no covalency between Ca, Cu and Mn(Ti) atoms. In contrast, there are stronger bonds and somewhat likely covalency between Cu and O atoms, and also between Mn(Ti) and O atoms.  相似文献

Ag–Au bimetallic “nanoalloy” clusters with 38 atoms have been studied using a Gupta many-body potential combined with a genetic algorithm search technique. Clear changes in structure are observed as a function of Ag/Au composition and there is a clear tendency for surface segregation of the Ag atoms. Cluster stability is found to increase with increasing number of Au-Au and Ag-Au bonds and the segregation has been rationalised in terms of bonds strengths and elemental surface energies.  相似文献

We have studied the electron structure and magnetic properties of Heusler phase Co2YBi and half-Heusler phase CoYBi (Y=Mn, Cr) by using the full-potential linearized-augmented plane-wave (FLAPW) method. Co2MnBi and Co2CrBi are predicted to be half-metallic magnetism with a total magnetic moment of 6 and 5 μB, respectively, well consistent with the Slater-Pauling rule. We also predict CoMnBi to be half-metallic magnetism with a slight compression. The gap origin for Co2MnBi and Co2CrBi is due to the 3d electron splitting of Mn (Cr) and Co atoms, and the gap width depends on Co electron splitting. The atom coordination surroundings have a great influence on the electron structure, and consequently the Y site in the X2YZ structure has a more remarkable electron splitting than the X site due to the more symmetric surroundings. The investigation regarding the lattice constant dependence of magnetic moment shows that the Co magnetic moment exhibits an opposite behavior with the change of the lattice constant for Heusler and half-Heusler alloys, consequently leading to the different variation trends for total magnetic moment. The variation of total and atom magnetic moment versus lattice constant can be explained by the extent of 3d electron splitting and localization of Mn (Cr) and Co atoms for both the series of alloys.  相似文献
