Titania composite coatings were prepared on carbon steel by plasma electrolytic oxidation in silicate electrolyte and aluminate electrolyte with titania powers doping in the electrolytes. The microstructure of the coatings was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The properties of the coatings including bond strength, thickness, thermal shock resistance and corrosion resistance varying with the quantities of titania powers in the electrolytes were studied. Investigation results revealed that the coating obtained in silicate electrolyte was composed of anatase-TiO2, rutile-TiO2 crystal phases and some Fe, Si, P elements; coating obtained in aluminate electrolyte consisted of anatase-TiO2, Al2TiO5 and some Fe, P elements. Coatings obtained in two types of electrolytes show porous and rough surface. With increasing the concentration of titania powers in the electrolytes, the coating surface first became more compact and less porous and then became more porous and coarse. The bond strength and thickness were not strongly affected by concentration of titania powers in electrolytes. The valves were 23 MPa and for 66 μm for coatings obtained in aluminate electrolyte, and 21 MPa and 35 μm for coatings obtained in silicate electrolyte. Coatings obtained in silicate electrolyte showed a little better thermal shock resistance than those obtained in aluminate electrolyte and the best coatings were obtained with middle concentration of titania powers in the electrolytes. All coated samples showed better corrosion resistance than the substrate in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution. The best coatings were also obtained with middle concentration of titania powers doping in both electrolytes whose corrosion current density was decreased by 2 orders of magnitude compared with the substrate.  相似文献

Alumina ceramic coatings were fabricated on 304 stainless steel by cathodic plasma electrolytic deposition (CPED). Influence of treating frequency of the power supply on the microstructure and properties of the coatings were studied. The results indicated that coatings obtained at various frequencies on 304 stainless steels were all composed of α-Al2O3 and γ-Al2O3, and α-Al2O3 was the dominant phase. The contents of α-Al2O3 decreased gradually in a very small rate with increasing the frequency and γ-Al2O3 gradually increased. The surface of alumina ceramic coating was porous. With increasing the frequency, the coating surface gradually became less rough and more compact, resulting in low surface roughness. The bonding strength of Al2O3 coating was higher than 22 MPa and was not strongly affected by treating frequency. With increasing the frequency, the alumina coated steels showed better and gradually increasing corrosion resistance than the uncoated one in 3.5% NaCl solution. The coating steel with desirable corrosion resistance was obtained at 800 Hz whose corrosion current potential and corrosion density were −0.237 V and 7.367 × 10−8 A/cm2, respectively.  相似文献

Ni-Al2O3 composite coatings were prepared by using sediment co-deposition (SCD) technique and conventional electroplating (CEP) technique from Watt's type electrolyte without any additives. The microstructure, hardness, and wear resistance of resulting composites were investigated. The results show that the incorporation of nano-Al2O3 particles changes the surface morphology of nickel matrix. The preferential orientation is modified from (2 0 0) plane to (1 1 1) plane. The microhardness of Ni-Al2O3 composite coatings in the SCD technique are higher than that of the CEP technique and pure Ni coating and increase with the increasing of the nano-Al2O3 particles concentration in plating solution. The wear rate of the Ni-Al2O3 composite coating fabricated via SCD technique with 10 g/l nano-Al2O3 particles in plating bath is approximately one order of magnitude lower than that of pure Ni coating. Wear resistance for SCD obtained composite coatings is superior to that obtained by the CEP technique. The wear mechanism of pure Ni and nickel nano-Al2O3 composite coatings are adhesive wear and abrasive wear, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, a new composite coating was fabricated on magnesium alloy by a two-step approach, to improve the corrosion resistance and biocompatibility of Mg-Zn-Y-Nd alloy. First, fluoride conversion layer was synthesized on magnesium alloy surface by immersion treatment in hydrofluoric acid and then, Ti-O film was deposited on the preceding fluoride layer by magnetron sputtering. FE-SEM images revealed a smooth and uniform surface consisting of aggregated nano-particles with average size of 100 nm, and a total coating thickness of ∼1.5 μm, including an outer Ti-O film of ∼250 nm. The surface EDS and XRD data indicated that the composite coating was mainly composed of crystalline magnesium fluoride (MgF2), and non-crystalline Ti-O. Potentiodynamic polarization tests revealed that the composite coated sample have a corrosion potential (Ecorr) of −1.60 V and a corrosion current density (Icorr) of 0.17 μA/cm2, which improved by 100 mV and reduced by two orders of magnitude, compared with the sample only coated by Ti-O. EIS results showed a polarization resistance of 3.98 kΩ cm2 for the Ti-O coated sample and 0.42 kΩ cm2 for the composite coated sample, giving an improvement of about 100 times. After 72 h immersion in SBF, widespread damage and deep corrosion holes were observed on the Ti-O coated sample surface, while the integrity of composite coating remained well after 7 d. In brief, the data suggested that single Ti-O film on degradable magnesium alloys was apt to become failure prematurely in corrosion environment. Ti-O film deposited on fluoride-treated magnesium alloys might potentially meet the requirements for future clinical magnesium alloy stent application.  相似文献

Ni-Co/nano TiO2 (Ni-Co-TiO2) composite coatings were prepared under pulse current and pulse reverse current methods using acetate bath. The microstructure and corrosion resistance of the coatings were characterized by means of XRD, SEM and EIS. Both the Ni-Co alloy and composite coatings exhibited single phase of Ni matrix with face centered cubic (fcc) crystal structure. The crystal orientation of the Ni-Co-TiO2 composite coating was transformed from crystal face (2 0 0) to (1 1 1) compared with Ni-Co alloy coatings. The results showed that the microstructure and performances of the coatings were greatly affected by TiO2 content on the deposits prepared by PC and PRC methods. The microhardness and corrosion resistance were enhanced in the optimum percentage of TiO2 composite coatings. The PRC composite coatings were exhibited from compact surface, higher microhardness and good corrosion resistance compared with that of the PC composite coating.  相似文献

The aim of this work is to study the effects of duty ratio on the growth mechanism of the ceramic coatings on Ti-6Al-4V alloy prepared by pulsed single-polar MPO at 50 Hz in NaAlO2 solution. The phase composition of the coatings was studied by X-ray diffraction, and the morphology and the element distribution in the coating were examined through scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. The thickness of the coatings was measured by eddy current coating thickness gauge. The corrosion resistance of the coated samples was examined by linear sweep voltammetry technique in 3.5% NaCl solution. The changes of the duty ratio (D) of the anode process led to the changes of the mode of the spark discharge during the pulsed single-polar MPO process, which further influenced the structure and the morphology of the ceramic coatings. The coatings prepared at D = 10% were composed of a large amount of Al2TiO5 and a little γ-Al2O3 while the coatings prepared at D = 45% were mainly composed of α-Al2O3 and γ-Al2O3. The coating thickness and the roughness were both increased with the increasing D due to the formation of Al2O3. The formation of Al2TiO5 resulted from the spark discharge due to the breakdown of the oxide film, while the formation of Al2O3 resulted from the spark discharge due to the breakdown of the vapor envelope. The ceramic coatings improved the corrosion resistance of Ti-6Al-4V alloy. And the surface morphology and the coating thickness determined the corrosion resistance of the coated samples prepared at D = 45% was better than that of the coated samples prepared at D = 10%.  相似文献

Ni-Zn-P-TiO2 composite coatings were successfully obtained on low carbon steel by electroless plating technique. Deposits were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive analysis (EDS) studies. The hardness and microstructure of as plated and heat treated Ni-Zn-P and Ni-Zn-P-TiO2 composite coatings were analyzed. The change in microstructure and higher hardness was noticed for heat treated composite. The corrosion resistance behavior of as plated and heat treated Ni-Zn-P and Ni-Zn-P-TiO2 coatings was investigated by anodic polarization, Tafel plots and electrochemical impedance spectroscopic (EIS) studies in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution. The composite coating exhibited enhanced corrosion resistance property over Ni-Zn-P coating.  相似文献

To increase the SiC content in Cr-based coatings, Cr-Al2O3/SiC composite coatings were plated in Cr(VI) baths which contained Al2O3-coated SiC powders. The Al2O3-coated SiC composite particles were synthesized by calcining the precursor prepared by heterogeneous deposition method. The transmission electron microscopy analysis of the particles showed that the nano-SiC particle was packaged by alumina. The zeta potential of the particles collected from the bath was up to +23 mV, a favorable condition for the co-deposition of the particles and chromium. Pulse current was used during the electrodeposition. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) indicated that the coating was compact and combined well with the substrate. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis of Cr-Al2O3/SiC coatings demonstrated that the concentration of SiC in the coating reached about 2.5 wt.%. The corrosion behavior of the composite coating was studied by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques. The data obtained suggested that the Al2O3/SiC particles significantly enhanced the corrosion resistance of the composite coating in 0.05 M HCl solution.  相似文献

Ag-TiO2-Thiol/Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) coating has been prepared via adsorbed-layer nanoreactor technique and self-assembling method. The composite coating shows a superhydrophobic property with reversible switching of adhesion. In the UV-vis spectra, absorption appeared in ultraviolet region of 229-293 nm (UVC region) and 320-370 nm (UVA region). Additionally, the stability of the superhydrophobic surface was tested under the following conditions: (1) in basic solution (pH = 14); (2) in acid solution (pH = 1); (3) in artificial seawater. The coating shows stability since the contact angle of the sample still remained higher than 150° in the above conditions. The corrosion resistance of the superhydrophobic surfaces was investigated by electrochemical measurements and the results revealed that the superhydrophobic coatings are anticorrosive well.  相似文献

Calcium phosphate (CaP)/collagen coatings were prepared on the surface of carbon/carbon (C/C) composites by electrochemically assisted co-deposition technique. The effects of collagen concentration in the electrolyte on morphology, structure and composition of the coatings were systematically investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transformed infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The adhesive strength of the coatings was also evaluated by scratch tests and tensile bond tests. It was demonstrated that the coatings of three-dimensional collagen network structure was formed on the C/C composites from the electrolyte containing collagen. The surface of the collagen network was covered by uniform CaP aggregates. The coatings were actually composites of CaP and collagen. Hydroxyapatite (HA) was a favorable composition in the coatings with the increase of the collagen concentration in the electrolyte. The formed collagen network increased the cohesive and adhesive strength of the coatings. The adhesive strength between the coatings and substrates increased as the collagen concentration in the electrolyte increased. The coatings prepared at the collagen concentration of 500 mg/L in the electrolyte were not scraped off until the applied load reached 32.0 ± 2.2 N and the average tensile adhesive strength of the coatings was 4.83 ± 0.71 MPa. After C/C coated with composite coatings (500 mg/L) being immersed in a 10−3 M Ca (OH)2 solution at 30-33 °C for 96 h, nano-structured HA/collagen coatings similar to the natural human bone were obtained on the C/C.  相似文献

Au nano-particles doped α-Al2O3 composite coatings were successfully prepared on TiAl-based alloy by electrodeposition, using the Al2O3 sols with minor addition of HAuCl4 solution. The even distribution of Au nano-particles (<2.0 wt.%) in the α-Al2O3 matrix has been observed. Isothermal oxidation tests of the samples coated with the as-prepared novel coatings at 900 °C in static air for 200 h shown that the oxygen inward diffusion can be effectively suppressed to a low level. The results of high-temperature cyclic oxidation test at 900 °C in air revealed that the oxidation and spallation resistance of TiAl-based alloy were improved significantly under thermal cycling. In the as-prepared coatings, cracks were shielded by means of crack bridging and the fracture resistance of the formed scales can be improved by toughening effects of the composite structure. Surface scratching tests after the cyclic oxidation exhibited that the adhesion of the formed composite scale on TiAl-based alloy was remarkably improved by the Au nano-particles doped α-Al2O3 composite coating.  相似文献

In current research, low carbon steel plates were coated by Ni-P electroless method. The effect of adding different concentrations (ranging from 0.01 g/l to 0.5 g/l) of TiC nano-sized particles to the plating bath on deposition rate, surface morphology and corrosion behavior of Ni-P-TiC composite coatings were investigated. The surface morphology and the relevant structure were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Corrosion behavior of the coated steel was evaluated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and polarization techniques. The results showed that addition of TiC nano-particles to Ni-P electroless bath not only changes the surface morphology of Ni-P coating, but also improves corrosion resistance of the steel in comparison with TiC free Ni-P electroless coating. In addition, the deposition rate of coating was also affected by incorporation of TiC particles. It was also found that improvement in corrosion resistance largely depends on the phosphorous and TiC concentrations on the coatings.  相似文献

The influence of the SiCp proportion and the matrix concentration of four aluminium metal matrix composites (A360/SiC/10p, A360/SiC/20p, A380/SiC/10p, A380/SiC/20p) modified by lanthanum-based conversion or electrolysis coating was evaluated in neutral salt fog according to ASTM B 117. Lanthanum-based conversion coatings were obtained by immersion in 50 °C solution of La(III) salt and lanthanum electrolysis treatments were performed in ethylene glycol mono-butyl ether solution. These treatments preferentially covered cathodic areas such as intermetallic compounds, Si eutectic and SiCp. The kinetic of the corrosion process was studied on the basis of gravimetric tests. Both coating microstructure and nature of corrosion products were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDS) and low angle X-ray diffraction (XRD) before and after accelerated testing to determine the influence of microstructural changes on corrosion behaviour during exposure to the corrosive environment. The corrosion process was more influenced by the concentration of alloy elements in the matrix than by the proportion of SiCp reinforcement. Both conversion and electrolysis surface treatments improved the behaviour to salt fog corrosion in comparison with original composites without treatment. Additionally, electrolysis provided a higher degree of protection than the conversion treatment because the coating was more extensive.  相似文献

In this study, Al2O3/ZrO2 composite coatings were prepared on Zr substrates by micro-arc oxidation (MAO) in the NaAlO2-containing electrolytes, and the effect of NaAlO2 concentration on the microstructure, bond strength, microhardness and corrosion resistance of coatings was systematically investigated. The study reveals that the adequate NaAlO2 in the electrolyte (>0.2 M) is essential to the formation of needle-like α-Al2O3 in the coatings, and the amount of α-Al2O3 rises with the increase of the NaAlO2 concentration. m-ZrO2 and t-ZrO2 are present in all of the coatings, but their relative amount largely depends on the amount of Al2O3. It is also found that as the NaAlO2 concentration increases from 0.2 to 0.3 M, the coating becomes denser and thicker, and its bond strength, maximum microhardness and corrosion resistance increases as well. The coating formed at 0.3 M NaAlO2 demonstrates the highest bond strength of 52 MPa, the maximum microhardness of 1600 Hv0.2N and the superior corrosion resistance. However, the overhigh concentration of NaAlO2 (0.35 M) is found harmful to the coating's microstructure and properties.  相似文献

The poor corrosion resistance of magnesium alloys is a dominant problem that limits their clinical application. In order to solve this challenge, micro-arc oxidation (MAO) was used to fabricate a porous coating on magnesium alloys and then electrochemical deposition (ED) was done to fabricate rod-like nano-hydroxyapatite (RNHA) on MAO coating. The cross-section morphology of the composite coatings and its corresponding energy dispersion spectroscopy (EDS) surficial scanning map of calcium revealed that HA rods were successfully deposited into the pores. The three dimensional morphology and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) image of the composite coatings showed that the distribution of the HA rods was dense and uniform. Atomic force microscope (AFM) observation of the composite coatings showed that the diameters of HA rods varied from 95 nm to 116 nm and the root mean square roughness (RMS) of the composite coatings was about 42 nm, which were favorable for cellular survival. The bonding strength between the HA film and MAO coating increased to 12.3 MPa, almost two times higher than that of the direct electrochemical deposition coating (6.3 MPa). Compared with that of the substrate, the corrosion potential of Mg-Zn-Ca alloy with composite coatings increased by 161 mV and its corrosion current density decreased from 3.36 × 10−4 A/cm2 to 2.40 × 10−7 A/cm2 which was due to the enhancement of bonding strength and the deposition of RNHA in the MAO pores. Immersion tests were carried out at 36.5 ± 0.5 °C in simulated body fluid (SBF). It was found that RNHA can induce the rapid precipitation of calcium orthophosphates in comparison with conventional HA coatings. Thus magnesium alloy coated with the composite coatings is a promising candidate as biodegradable bone implants.  相似文献

Ni-Co/nano-Al2O3 (Ni-Co/Al2O3) composite coatings were prepared under pulse reversal current (PRC) and direct current (dc) methods respectively. The microstructure of coatings was characterized by means of XRD, SEM and TEM. Both the Ni-Co alloy and composite coatings exhibit single phase of Ni matrix with face-centered cubic (fcc) crystal structure, and the crystal orientation of the Ni-Co/Al2O3 composite coating was transformed from crystal face (2 0 0) to (1 1 1) compared with alloy coatings. The hardness, anti-wear property and macro-residual stress were also investigated. The results showed that the microstructure and performance of the coatings were greatly affected by Al2O3 content and the electrodeposition methods. With the increasing of Al2O3 content, the hardness and wear resistance of the composite coatings enhanced. The PRC composite coatings exhibited compact surface, high hardness, better wear resistance and lower macro-residual stress compared with that of the dc composite coatings.  相似文献

Aqueous electropolymerized polymer coatings on aluminum alloys can replace the carcinogenic chromate coating. In this work, the corrosion protection ability of electropolymerized polyaniline coating on Al2024 T6 alloy has been found out. The polyaniline coatings on aluminum were formed by galvanostatic and potentiostatic methods from a bath of 0.5 M oxalic acid containing 0.1 M aniline. The corrosion protection ability of the coating was found out by Tafel polarization and EIS in 1% NaCl solution. It has been found that polyaniline coated aluminum alloy has exhibited higher corrosion activity due to the presence of pores in the coating. However, the corrosion resistant property of polyaniline coated aluminum has been found to be improved to 90% by post-treatment in cerium containing solution at 60 °C.  相似文献

Evolution of tribological properties of electroless Ni-P and Ni-P-Al2O3 coating on an Al-10Si-0.3Mg casting alloy during heat treatment is investigated in this work. The pre-treated substrate was plated using a bath containing nickel hypophosphite, nickel lactate and lactic acid. For preparation of fiber-reinforced coating Al2O3 Saffil fibers pre-treated in demineralised water were used. The coated samples were heat treated at 400-550 °C/1-8 h. Tribological properties were studied using the pin-on-disc method. It is found that the best coating performance is obtained using optimal heat treatment regime (400 °C/1 h). Annealing at higher temperatures (450 °C and above) leads to the formation of intermetallic compounds that reduce the coating wear resistance. The reason is that the intermetallic phases adversely affect the coating adherence to the substrate. The analysis of wear tracks proves that abrasion is major wear mechanism, however due to the formed intermetallic sub-layers, partial coating delamination may occur during the pin-on-disc test on the samples annealed at 450 °C and above. It was found that fiber reinforcement reduces this scaling and increases wear resistance of coatings as compared to the non-reinforced Ni-P coatings.  相似文献

The Al-Mn alloy coatings were electrodeposited on AZ31B Mg alloy in AlCl3-NaCl-KCl-MnCl2 molten salts at 170 °C aiming to improve the corrosion resistance. However, in order to prevent AZ31B Mg alloy from corrosion during electrodeposition in molten salts and to ensure excellent adhesion of coatings to the substrate, AZ31B Mg alloy should be pre-plated with a thin zinc layer as intermediate layer. Then the microstructure, composition and phase constituents of the coatings were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDX), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). It was indicated that, by adjusting the MnCl2 content in the molten salts from 0.5 wt% to 2 wt%, the Mn content in the alloy coating was increased and the phase constituents were changed from f.c.c Al-Mn solid solution to amorphous phase. The corrosion resistance of the coatings was evaluated by potentiodynamic polarization measurements in 3.5% NaCl solution. It was confirmed that the Al-Mn alloy coatings exhibited good corrosion resistance with a chear passive region and significantly reduced corrosion current density at anodic potentiodynamic polarization. The corrosion resistance of the alloy coatings was also related with the microstructure and Mn content of the coatings.  相似文献

Ceramic coatings were fabricated on AZ91D Mg-alloy substrate by microarc oxidation in Na2SiO3-NaOH-Na2EDTA electrolytes with and without C3H8O3 addition. The effects of different concentrations of C3H8O3 contained in the electrolyte on coatings thickness were investigated. The surface morphologies, RMS roughness, phase compositions and corrosion resistance property of the ceramic coatings were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and electrochemical corrosion test respectively. It is found that the addition of C3H8O3 into silicate electrolyte leads to increase of the unit-area adsorptive capacity of the negative ions at anode-electrolyte interface and thus improves the compactness and corrosion resistance of the MAO coating. The coating thickness decreases gradually with the increase of concentrations of C3H8O3 in the electrolyte. The oxide coating formed in base electrolyte containing 4 mL/L C3H8O3 exhibits the best surface appearance, the lowest surface RMS roughness (174 nm) and highest corrosion resistance. In addition, both ceramic coatings treated in base electrolyte with and without C3H8O3 are mainly composed of periclase MgO and forsterite Mg2SiO4 phase, but no diffraction peak of Mg phase is found in the patterns.  相似文献
