It is well-known that on uniform meshes the piecewise linearconforming finite element solution of the Poisson equation approximatesthe interpolant to a higher order than the solution itself.In this paper, this type of superclose property is studied forthe canonical interpolant defined by the nodal functionals ofseveral non-conforming finite elements of lowest order. By givingexplicit examples we show that some non-conforming finite elementsdo not admit the superclose property. In particular, we discusstwo non-conforming finite elements which satisfy the supercloseproperty. Moreover, applying a postprocessing technique, wecan also state a superconvergence property for the discretizationerror of the postprocessed discrete solution to the solutionitself. Finally, we show that an extrapolation technique leadsto a further improvement of the accuracy of the finite elementsolution.  相似文献

Numerical quadrature schemes of a non-conforming finite element method for general second order elliptic problems in two dimensional (2-D) and three dimensional (3-D) space are discussed in this paper. We present and analyze some optimal numerical quadrature schemes. One of the schemes contains only three sampling points, which greatly improves the efficiency of numerical computations. The optimal error estimates are derived by using some traditional approaches and techniques. Lastly, some numerical results are provided to verify our theoretical analysis.  相似文献

In this paper rectangular plates made of functionally graded materials (FGMs) are studied. A two-constituent material distribution through the thickness is considered, varying with a simple power rule of mixture. The equations governing the FGM plates are determined using a variational formulation arising from the Reissner–Mindlin theory. To approximate the problem a simple locking-free Discontinuous Galerkin finite element of non-conforming type is used, choosing a piecewise linear non-conforming approximation for both rotations and transversal displacement. Several numerical simulations are carried out in order to show the capability of the proposed element to capture the properties of plates of various gradings, subjected to thermo-mechanical loads.  相似文献

The methodis stabilized by penalizing the jumps of the solution and thoseof its advective derivative across mesh interfaces. The a priorierror analysis leads to (quasi-)optimal estimates in the meshsize (sub-optimal by order in the L2-norm and optimal in thebroken graph norm for quasi-uniform meshes) keeping the Pécletnumber fixed. Then, we investigate a residual a posteriori errorestimator for the method. The estimator is semi-robust in thesense that it yields lower and upper bounds of the error whichdiffer by a factor equal at most to the square root of the Pécletnumber. Convergence of an approximate method for determining vibrational eigenpairs of an elastic solid containing an incompressible fluid is examined. The field variables are solid displacement and fluid pressure. We show that in suitable Sobolev spaces a variational formulation exists whose solution eigenvalues and eigenfunctions are identified with those of a compact operator. A nonconforming finite element approximation of this variational problem is described and optimal a priori error estimates are obtained for both the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions.

In this article, we analyze the lower bound property of the discrete eigenvalues by the rectangular Morley elements of the biharmonic operators in both two dimension (2D) and three dimension (3D). The analysis relies on an identity for the errors of eigenvalues. We explore a refined property of the canonical interpolation operators and use it to analyze the key term in this identity. In particular, we show that such a term is of higher order for 2D, and is negative and of second order for 3D, which causes a main difficulty. To overcome it, we propose a novel decomposition of the first term in the aforementioned identity. Finally, we establish a saturation condition to show that the discrete eigenvalues are smaller than the exact ones. We introduce a family of scalar non-conforming finite elements of arbitrary order k≥1 with respect to the H1-norm on triangles. Their vector-valued version generates together with a discontinuous pressure approximation of order k−1 an inf-sup stable finite element pair of order k for the Stokes problem in the energy norm. We introduce some ways to compute the lower and upper bounds of the Laplace eigenvalue problem.By using the special nonconforming finite elements,i.e.,enriched Crouzeix-Raviart element and extended Q1ro t,we get the lower bound of the eigenvalue.Additionally,we use conforming finite elements to do the postprocessing to get the upper bound of the eigenvalue,which only needs to solve the corresponding source problems and a small eigenvalue problem if higher order postprocessing method is implemented.Thus,we can obtain the lower and upper bounds of the eigenvalues simultaneously by solving eigenvalue problem only once.Some numerical results are also presented to demonstrate our theoretical analysis.  相似文献

This paper discusses the extrapolation of numerical eigenvalues by finite elements for differential operators and obtains the following new results: (a) By extending a theorem of eigenvalue error estimate, which was established by Osborn, a new expansion of eigenvalue error is obtained. Many achievements, which are about the asymptotic expansions of finite element methods of differential operator eigenvalue problems, are brought into the framework of functional analysis. (b) The Richardson extrapolation of nonconforming finite elements for multiple eigenvalues and splitting extrapolation of finite elements based on domain decomposition of non-selfadjoint differential operators for multiple eigenvalues are achieved. A nonlinear system of two coupled partial differential equations models miscible displacement of one incompressible fluid by another in a porous medium. A sequential implicit time‐stepping procedure is defined, in which the pressure and Darcy velocity of the mixture are approximated by a mixed finite element method and the concentration is approximated by a combination of a modified symmetric finite volume element method and the method of characteristics. This paper proposes and analyzes a new weak Galerkin method for the eigenvalueproblem by using the shifted-inverse power technique. A high order lower bound canbe obtained at a relatively low cost via the proposed method. The error estimates forboth eigenvalue and eigenfunction are provided and asymptotic lower bounds are shown aswell under some conditions.
