A polarized proton beam extracted from SATURNE II was scattered on an unpolarized CH2 target. The angular distribution of the beam analyzing power Aoono was measured at large angles from 1.98 to 2.8 GeV and at 0.80 GeV nominal beam kinetic energy. The same observable was determined at the fixed mean laboratory angle of 13.9° in the same energy range. Both measurements are by-products of an experiment measuring the spin correlation parameter Aoon.  相似文献

The analyzing power for proton-carbon elastic scattering in the Coulomb-nuclear interference region of momentum transfer, 9.0x10(-3)<-t<4.1x10(-2) (GeV/c)(2), was measured with a 21.7 GeV/c polarized proton beam at the Alternating Gradient Synchrotron of Brookhaven National Laboratory. The ratio of hadronic spin-flip to nonflip amplitude, r(5), was obtained from the analyzing power to be Rer(5)=0.088+/-0.058 and Imr(5)=-0.161+/-0.226.  相似文献

The polarization parameter in pp elastic scattering at 150 GeV/c, and in the momentum transfer interval 0.4 ? ?t ? 3.0 GeV2, has been measured in an MWPC and scintillation counter experiment at the CERN SPS using a polarized proton target. The polarization is decreasing steadily from zero to ≈ ? 10% in the range 0.4 < ?t < 1.3 GeV2; for higher |t| the data suggests a change of sign. Results are also given for the differential cross section, which exhibits a small dip at ?t = (1.46 ± 0.01) GeV.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze the elastic scattering of the muon neutrino (νμνμ) beam on the polarized proton target (PPT) in a presence of induced couplings, and predict how the existence of relative phases between the complex vector (weak magnetism) and axial (induced pseudoscalar) form factors of the proton with left-chirality νμνμ affects the azimuthal dependence of the differential cross section. The neutrinos are assumed to be Dirac fermions with non-zero mass and CPT symmetry is conserved. We show that the azimuthal asymmetry of recoil protons depends on the neutrino mass, but contributions are very tiny (∼10−5105). Analysis of the differential cross section in the case of pure vector and axial couplings at zero νμνμ mass limit and zero momentum transfer shows that the T-violating phase βVAβVA generates the T-odd, P-even triple correlation and it could be detected by measuring the asymmetry between the (0,π)(0,π) and (π,2π)(π,2π) angles. It should be clearly stressed that the considered T-odd observable is not a genuine CP-violating quantity as it can also be produced by the T-invariant contributions due to the final state interactions (FSI). Their magnitude must be precisely estimated and subtracted from the measured observable to extract information on the possible time reversal violation (TRV). We also indicate the possibility of using the PPT in the neutrino telescope.  相似文献

The polarization parameter in pp elastic scattering was measured at 6 GeV/c with fine t resolution for 0.02 < ?t < 0.5 GeV2 using a polarized proton beam with Effective Mass Spectrometer at the Zero Gradient Synchrotron. We measured elastic and inelastic scattering to the low-lying states of 10C and 11C isotopes on a proton target with respective incident energies 45.3 and 40.6 A MeV. Data are analyzed with a microscopic complex potential. Elastic data are sensitive to the rms matter radius, which has been deduced for both isotopes. The moment of the neutron transition density was deduced for 10C from inelastic scattering.  相似文献

The spin correlation parameter Aookk in pp elastic scattering was measured using the SATURNE II polarized proton beam and the Saclay frozen spin polarized target. The measurements at 0.88 and 1.1 GeV were carried out in the angular region θCM from 28° to ⋍ 50° and complete our previous measurements from 45° to 90°. Above 1.1 GeV the measurements presented here cover both regions, extending from θCM = 28° (at the lower energies) or θCM = 18° (at the higher energies) to θCM > 90°. The shape of the angular distribution Aookk (pp) = f(θCM) changes considerably between in our energy region.  相似文献

The spin correlation parameters Aoosk and Aookk were measured at 0.834 and 0.995 GeV using the SATURNE II polarized proton beam and the Saclay frozen spin polarized target. The measurements were carried out in the angular region φCM from 50° to ≃ 90°. The shape of the angular distribution Aoosk (pp) = f(θCM) changes rapidly from 0.8 to 1.0 GeV. We have measured the difference between the pp total cross-sections for parallel and anti-parallel longitudinal spin states at beam momenta of 3 and 6 GeV/c. These results, combined with our previous measurements, at lower momenta, are useful in clarifying a striking structure appearing at around 1.5 GeV/c. We have also measured for the first time, the spin-spin correlation parameter CLL (t) in pp elastic scattering at 6 GeV/c. We observe evidence for an exchange with A1-like quantum-numbers.  相似文献

The consequences of the quark-glue structure of hadrons for pp elastic scattering are examined in a simple model where the glue is taken to be the active constituent in normal (low pT) hadronic collisions. Earlier work based on the study of pp inelastic diffraction led to the conclusion that the glue-glue elastic amplitude tg is approximately Gaussian in the glue-glue impact parameter bg, with maximum opacity at bg = 0. A slight refinement of this approximation, in which tg is almost maximally opaque over a small bg interval and is Gaussian at larger bg, is now shown to account for the remarkable diffraction structure observed in pp elastic scattering at ISR energies. A very simple form is obtained for the form factor describing the impact parameter distribution of the glue inside a proton relative to the proton itself.  相似文献

An internal polarized gas target in conjunction with a beam of polarized protons stored in the IUCF Cooler storage ring has been used to measure analyzing power and spin correlation parameters between 200 MeV and 450 MeV over a wide range of angles. A consistent absolute beam and target polarization calibration was established by ramping the stored protons up and down in energy. The analyzing power A y and the spin correlations A xx , A yy and A xz were measured with transverse beam polarization, while determination of A zz required the development of a longitudinally polarized beam. First experiments on the spin dependence on π0-production have recently been carried out.  相似文献

Tensor polarization observables ( t(20), t(21), and t(22)) have been measured in elastic electron-deuteron scattering for six values of momentum transfer between 0.66 and 1.7 (GeV/c)(2). The experiment was performed at the Jefferson Laboratory in Hall C using the electron High Momentum Spectrometer, a specially designed deuteron magnetic channel and the recoil deuteron polarimeter POLDER. The new data determine to much larger Q2 the deuteron charge form factors G(C) and G(Q). They are in good agreement with relativistic calculations and disagree with perturbative QCD predictions.  相似文献

We report our first measurements of the polarization in the elastic scattering of negative pions from polarized protons at an incident pion momentum of 40 GeV/c. The momentum-transfer region covered was 0.08 < |t| < 1.3 (GeV/c)2. The angular distribution of the polarization exhibits a first minimum of ~ ? 5% and the well-known zero around t ≈ ? 0.6 (GeV/c)2. The energy variation of the first minimum (at around t = ? 0.2) may be expressed in a simple form, Pavr= ?(0.48±0.06) s ?0.52±0.05.  相似文献

The influence of Coulomb distortion on the polarization transfer in elastic proton and antiproton electron scattering at low energies is calculated in a distorted-wave Born approximation. For antiproton electron scattering Coulomb effects reduce substantially the polarization transfer cross-section compared to the plane-wave Born approximation, whereas for proton electron scattering they lead to a dramatic increase for kinetic proton lab energies below about 20keV.  相似文献
