The dynamic response of a micro-resonator driven by electrostatic combs is investigated in this work. The micro-resonator is assumed to consist of eight flexible beams and three rigid bodies. The nonlinear partial differential equations that govern the motions of the flexible beams are obtained, as well as their boundary and matching conditions. The natural matching conditions for the flexible beams are the governing equations for the rigid bodies. The undamped natural frequencies and mode shapes of the linearized model of the micro-resonator are determined, and the orthogonality relation of the undamped global mode shapes is established. The modified Newton iterative method is used to simultaneously solve for the frequency equation and identify repeated natural frequencies that can occur in the micro-resonator and their multiplicities. The Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization method is extended to orthogonalize the mode shapes of the continuous system corresponding to the repeated natural frequencies. The undamped global mode shapes are used to spatially discretize the nonlinear partial differential equations of the micro-resonator. The simulation results show that the geometric nonlinearities of the flexible beams can have a significant effect on the dynamic response of the micro-resonator.  相似文献

The nonlinear modeling and subsequent dynamic analysis of cracked Timoshenko beams with functionally graded material (FGM) properties is investigated for the first time using harmonic balance method followed by an iterative technique. Crack is assumed to be open throughout. During modeling, nonlinear strain–displacement relation is considered. Rotational spring model is adopted in order to model the open cracks. Energy formulations are established using Timoshenko beam theory. Nonlinear governing differential equations of motion are derived using Lagrange's equation. In order to incorporate the influence of higher order harmonics, harmonic balance method is employed. This reduces the governing differential equations into nonlinear set of algebraic equations. These equations are solved using two different iterative techniques. Methodology is computationally easier and efficient as well. This is observed that although assumption of simple harmonic motion (SHM) simplifies the problem, it yields to erroneous results at higher amplitude of motion. However, accuracy of the solution is improved considerably when the contribution of higher order harmonic terms are considered in the analysis. Results are compared with the available results, which confirm the validity of the methodology. Subsequent to that a parametric study on influence of forcing term, material indices and crack parameters on large amplitude vibration of Timoshenko beams is performed for two different boundary conditions.  相似文献

As a first endeavor, a mixed differential quadrature (DQ) and finite element (FE) method for boundary value structural problems in the context of free vibration and buckling analysis of thick beams supported on two-parameter elastic foundations is presented. The formulations are based on the two-dimensional theory of elasticity. The problem domain along axial direction is discretized using finite elements. The resulting system of equations and the related boundary conditions are discretized in the thickness direction and in strong-form using DQM. The method benefits from low computational efforts of the DQ in conjunction with the effectiveness of the FE method in general geometry and systematic boundary treatment resulting in highly accurate and fast convergence behavior solution. The boundary conditions at the top and bottom surface of the beams are implemented accurately. The presented formulations provide an effective analysis tool for beams free of shear locking. Comparisons are made with results from elasticity solutions as well as higher-order beam theory.  相似文献

Nonlinear bending of strain gradient elastic thin beams is studied adopting Bernoulli–Euler principle. Simple nonlinear strain gradient elastic theory with surface energy is employed. In fact linear constitutive relations for strain gradient elastic theory with nonlinear strains are adopted. The governing beam equations with its boundary conditions are derived through a variational method. New terms are considered, already introduced for linear cases, indicating the importance of the cross-section area, in addition to moment of inertia in bending of thin beams. Those terms strongly increase the stiffness of the thin beam. The non-linear theory is applied to buckling problems of thin beams, especially in the study of the postbuckling behaviour.  相似文献

The differential quadrature element method (DQEM) has been proposed. The element weighting coefficient matrices are generated by the differential quadrature (DQ) or generic differential quadrature (GDQ). By using the DQ or GDQ technique and the mapping procedure the governing differential or partial differential equations, the transition conditions of two adjacent elements and the boundary conditions can be discretized. A global algebraic equation system can be obtained by assembling all of the discretized equations. This method can convert a generic engineering or scientific problem having an arbitrary domain configuration into a computer algorithm. The DQEM irregular element torsion analysis model is developed.  相似文献

In this paper, the linear and nonlinear vibrations of fractional viscoelastic Timoshenko nanobeams are studied based on the Gurtin–Murdoch surface stress theory. Firstly, the constitutive equations of fractional viscoelasticity theory are considered, and based on the Gurtin–Murdoch model, stress components on the surface of the nanobeam are incorporated into the axial stress tensor. Afterward, using Hamilton's principle, equations governing the two-dimensional vibrations of fractional viscoelastic nanobeams are derived. Finally, two solution procedures are utilized to describe the time responses of nanobeams. In the first method, which is fully numerical, the generalized differential quadrature and finite difference methods are used to discretize the linear part of the governing equations in spatial and time domains. In the second method, which is semi-analytical, the Galerkin approach is first used to discretize nonlinear partial differential governing equations in the spatial domain, and the obtained set of fractional-order ordinary differential equations are then solved by the predictor–corrector method. The accuracy of the results for the linear and nonlinear vibrations of fractional viscoelastic nanobeams with different boundary conditions is shown. Also, by comparing obtained results for different values of some parameters such as viscoelasticity coefficient, order of fractional derivative and parameters of surface stress model, their effects on the frequency and damping of vibrations of the fractional viscoelastic nanobeams are investigated.  相似文献

This work is concerned with the existence of monotone positive solutions for a class of beam equations with nonlinear boundary conditions. The results are obtained by using the monotone iteration method and they extend early works on beams with null boundary conditions. Numerical simulations are also presented.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to present efficient and accurate analytical expressions for large amplitude free vibration analysis of single and double tapered beams on elastic foundation. Geometric nonlinearity is considered using the condition of inextensibility of neutral axis. Moreover, the elastic foundation consists of a linear and cubic nonlinear parts together with a shearing layer. The nonlinear governing equation is solved by employing the variational iteration method (VIM). This study shows that the second-order approximation of the VIM leads to highly accurate solutions which are valid for a wide range of vibration amplitudes. The effects of different parameters on the nonlinear natural frequency of the beams are studied under different mode shapes. The results of the present work are also compared with those available in the literature and a good agreement is observed.  相似文献

Nonlinear vibration analysis of circular cylindrical shells has received considerable attention from researchers for many decades. Analytical approaches developed to solve such problem, even not involved simplifying assumptions, are still far from sufficiency, and an efficient numerical scheme capable of solving the problem is worthy of development. The present article aims at devising a novel numerical solution strategy to describe the nonlinear free and forced vibrations of cylindrical shells. For this purpose, the energy functional of the structure is derived based on the first-order shear deformation theory and the von–Kármán geometric nonlinearity. The governing equations are discretized employing the generalized differential quadrature (GDQ) method and periodic differential operators along axial and circumferential directions, respectively. Then, based on Hamilton's principle and by the use of variational differential quadrature (VDQ) method, the discretized nonlinear governing equations are obtained. Finally, a time periodic discretization is performed and the frequency response of the cylindrical shell with different boundary conditions is determined by applying the pseudo-arc length continuation method. After revealing the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed numerical approach, comprehensive results are presented to study the influences of the model parameters such as thickness-to-radius, length-to-radius ratios and boundary conditions on the nonlinear vibration behavior of the cylindrical shells. The results indicate that variation of fundamental vibrational mode shape significantly affects frequency response curves of cylindrical shells.  相似文献

Based on the Von Karman plate theory, considering the effect of transverse shear deformation, and using the method of the dissociated three regions, the postbuckling governing equations for the axisymmetric laminated circular plates with elliptical delamination are derived. By using the orthogonal point collocation method, the governing equations, boundary conditions and continuity conditions are transformed into a group of nonlinear algebraically equation and the equations are solved with the alternative method. In the numerical examples, the effects of various elliptical in shape, delamination depth and different material properties on buckling and postbuckling of the laminated circular plates are discussed and the numerical results are compared with available data.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to investigate the nonlinear behaviors of a V-shaped microcantilever of an atomic force microscope (AFM) operating in its two major modes: amplitude modulation and frequency modulation. The nonlinear behavior of the AFM is due to the nonlinear nature of the AFM tip–sample interaction caused by the Van der Waals attraction/repulsion force. Considering the V-shaped microcantilever as a flexible continuous system, the resonant frequencies, mode shapes, governing nonlinear partial and ordinary differential equations (PDE and ODE) of motion, boundary conditions, frequency and time responses, potential function and phase-plane of the system are obtained analytically. The governing PDE is determined by employing the Hamilton principle. Subsequently, the Galerkin method is utilized to gain the governing nonlinear ODE. Afterward, the resulting ODE is analytically solved by means of some perturbation techniques including the method of multiple scales and the Lindsted–Poincare method. In addition, the effects of different parameters including geometrical one on the frequency response of the system are assessed.  相似文献

Micro-scale piezoelectric unimorph beams with attached proof masses are the most prevalent structures in MEMS-based energy harvesters considering micro fabrication and natural frequency limitations. In doubly clamped beams a nonlinear stiffness is observed as a result of midplane stretching effect which leads to amplitude-stiffened Duffing resonance. In this study, a nonlinear model of a doubly clamped piezoelectric micro power generator, taking into account geometric nonlinearities including stretching and large curvatures, is investigated. The governing nonlinear coupled electromechanical partial differential equations of motion are determined by exploiting Hamilton's principle. A semi-analytical approach implementing the perturbation method of multiple scales is used to solve the nonlinear coupled differential equations and analyze the primary and superharmonic resonances. Results indicate that operational bandwidth of the nonlinear harvester is enhanced considerably with respect to linear models. Moreover considerable amount of power is generated due to occurrence of superharmonic resonances. This yields to extraction of energy at subharmonics of the natural frequency which is crucially important in MEMS-based harvesters.  相似文献

The differential quadrature (DQ) method is employed to solve the nonlinear differential governing equations to obtain the pull-in voltage and vibration frequencies of the clamped poly-SiGe micro-beams. The present analysis is validated through direct comparisons with published experimental results and excellent agreement has been achieved. A parametric study is conducted to investigate the effects of material composition, ground electrode shape, axial residual stress and geometrical nonlinearity on the pull-in voltage and frequency characteristics.  相似文献

A two-dimensional analysis is presented for piezoelectric beam with variable thickness which is simply supported and grounded along its two ends. According to the governing equations of plane stress problems, the displacement solutions, which exactly satisfy the governing differential equations and the simply-supported boundary conditions at two ends of the beam, are derived. The unknown coefficients in the solution are then determined by using the Fourier sinusoidal series expansion to the boundary equations on the upper and lower surfaces of the beams. The present solutions show a good convergence and the numerical results are presented and compared with those available in the literature. The method could be applied to control engineering and other projects with highly accurate demand on stress and displacement analysis such as the design of micro-mechanical apparatuses.  相似文献

An analytical solution is presented for the 3D static response of variable stiffness non-uniform composite beams. Based on Euler-Bernoulli theory, a set of governing differential equations are obtained, in which four degrees of freedom are fully coupled. For the variable stiffness beam, the governing field equations have variable coefficients reflecting the stiffness variation along the beam. Using the direct integration technique, the general analytical solution is derived in the integral form and the closed-form expressions of the obtained solutions are presented employing a series expansion approximation. The series expansion representation enables the proposed approach to be applicable for variable stiffness composite beams with arbitrary span-wise variation of properties. As an alternative solution, the Chebyshev collocation method is applied to the proposed formulation to verify the results obtained from the analytical solution. A number of variable stiffness composite beams made by fibre steering with various boundary conditions and stacking sequences are considered as the test cases. The static response are presented based on the analytical solution and Chebyshev collocation method and excellent agreement is observed for all test cases. The proposed model presents a reliable and efficient approach for capturing the complicated behaviour of variable stiffness non-uniform composite beams.  相似文献

This paper presents a nonlinear free vibration analysis of corrugated circular plates with shallow sinusoidal corrugations under uniformly static ambient temperature. Based on the nonlinear bending theory of thin shallow shells, the governing equations for corrugated plates are established from Hamilton’s principle. These partial differential equations are reduced to corresponding ordinary ones by elimination of the time variable with Kantorovich method following an assumed harmonic time mode. The resulting equations, which form a nonlinear two-point boundary value problem in spatial variable, are then solved numerically by shooting method, and the temperature-dependent characteristic relations of frequency vs. amplitude for nonlinear vibration of heated corrugated plates are obtained successfully. The comparison with available published results shows that the numerical analysis here is of good reliability. A detailed parametric study is conducted involving the dependency of nonlinear frequency on the depth and density of corrugations along with the temperature change. Effects of these variables on the trend of nonlinearity are plotted and discussed.  相似文献
