The paper deals with the analytic theory of the quantum q-deformed Toda chains; the technique used combines the methods of representation theory and the Quantum Inverse Scattering Method. The key phenomenon which is under scrutiny is the role of the modular duality concept (first discovered by L. Faddeev) in the representation theory of noncompact semisimple quantum groups. Explicit formulae for the Whittaker vectors are presented in terms of the double sine functions and the wave functions of the N-particle q-deformed open Toda chain are given as a multiple integral of the Mellin–Barnes type. An infinite class of fermionic flows of the N = (1|1) superconformal Toda lattice hierarchy is constructed and their algebraic structure is studied. We completely solve the semi-infinite N = (1|1) Toda lattice and chain hierarchies and derive their tau functions, which may be relevant for building supersymmetric matrix models. We describe a relation between the periodic one-dimensional Toda lattice and the quantum cohomology of the periodic flag manifold (an infinite-dimensional K?hler manifold). This generalizes a result of Givental and Kim relating the open Toda lattice and the quantum cohomology of the finite-dimensional flag manifold. We derive a simple and explicit “differential operator formula” for the necessary quantum products, which applies both to the finite-dimensional and to the infinite-dimensional situations. An integral representation for the eigenfunctions of a quantum periodic Toda chain is constructed for the N-particle case. The multiple integral is calculated using the Cauchy residue formula. This gives the representation which reproduces the particular results obtained by Gutzwiller for the N=2,3 and 4-particle chain. Our method of solving the problem combines the ideas of Gutzwiller and the R-matrix approach of Sklyanin with the classical results in the theory of Whittaker functions. In particular, we calculate Sklyanin's invariant scalar product from the Plancherel formula for the Whittaker functions derived by Semenov-Tian-Shansky thus obtaining a natural interpretation of the Sklyanin measure in terms of the Harish-Chandra function.  相似文献

We apply the method of angular quantization to the calculation of the wave function renormalization constants in D1(1) affine Toda quantum field theories. A general formula for the wave function renormalization constants in ADE Toda field theories is proposed. A method is introduced for constructing lattice discretizations of large classes of integrable quantum field theories. The method proceeds in two steps: The quantum algebraic structure underlying the integrability of the model is determined from the algebra of the interaction terms in the light-cone representation. The representation theory of the relevant quantum algebra is then used to construct the basic ingredients of the quantum inverse scattering method, the lattice Lax matrices and R-matrices. This method is illustrated with four examples: The sinh-Gordon model, the affine sl(3) Toda model, a model called the fermionic sl(2|1) Toda theory, and the N=2 supersymmetric sine-Gordon model. These models are all related to sigma models in various ways. The N=2 supersymmetric sine-Gordon model, in particular, describes the Pohlmeyer reduction of string theory on AdS2×S2, and is dual to a supersymmetric non-linear sigma model with a sausage-shaped target space.  相似文献

The integral representation of the eigenfunctions of quantum periodic Toda chain constructed by Kharchev and Lebedev is revisited. We prove that Pasquier and Gaudin’s solutions of the Baxter equation provides a complete set of eigenfunctions under this integral representation. This will, in addition, show that the joint spectrum of commuting Hamiltonians of the quantum periodic Toda chain is simple.   相似文献

We study integrable vertex models and quantum spin chains with toroidal boundary conditions. An interesting class of such boundaries is associated with non-diagonal twist matrices. For such models there are no trivial reference states upon which a Bethe ansatz calculation can be constructed, in contrast to the well-known case of periodic boundary conditions. In this paper we show how the transfer matrix eigenvalue expression for the spin-s XXZ chain twisted by the charge-conjugation matrix can in fact be obtained. The technique used is the generalization to spin-s of the functional relation method based on “pair propagation through a vertex”. The Bethe ansatz-type equations obtained reduce, in the case of lattice size N = 1, to those recently found for the Hofstadter problem of Bloch electrons on a square lattice in a magnetic field.  相似文献

In this work, an adaptation of the tanh/tan-method that is discussed usually in the nonlinear partial differential equations is presented to solve nonlinear polynomial differential-difference equations. As a concrete example, several solitary wave and periodic wave solutions for the chain which is related to the relativistic Toda lattice are derived. Some systems of the differential-difference equations that can be solved using our approach are listed and a discussion is given in conclusion.  相似文献

We demonstrate the controlled coherent transport and splitting of atomic wave packets in spin-dependent optical lattice potentials. Such experiments open intriguing possibilities for quantum state engineering of many body states. After first preparing localized atomic wave functions in an optical lattice through a Mott insulating phase, we place each atom in a superposition of two internal spin states. Then state selective optical potentials are used to split the wave function of a single atom and transport the corresponding wave packets in two opposite directions. Coherence between the wave packets of an atom delocalized over up to seven lattice sites is demonstrated.  相似文献

We propose a new integrable N = 2 supersymmetric Toda lattice hierarchy which may be relevant for constructing a supersymmetric one-matrix model. We define its first two Hamiltonian structures, the recursion operator and Lax-pair representation. We provide partial evidence for the existence of an infinite-dimensional N = 2 superalgebra of its flows. We study its bosonic limit and introduce new Lax-pair representations for the bosonic Toda lattice hierarchy. Finally we discuss the relevance this approach for constructing N = 2 supersymmetric generalized Toda lattice hierarchies.  相似文献

In this paper, we generalize the extended tanh-function approach, which used to find new exact travelling wave solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations (NPDES) or coupled nonlinear partial differential equations, to nonlinear differential-difference equations (NDDES). As illustration, we discuss some Toda lattice equations, and solitary wave and periodic wave solutions of these Toda lattice equations are obtained by means of the extended tanh-function approach. A one-dimensional tight-binding model on a spatially periodic lattice of lengthN, with quasiperiodic potential strength given by the Fibonacci sequence, is investigated numerically. We elucidate theN-dependence of the resistence and the nature of the wave functions. For energies belonging to the spectrum, the results provide strong evidence for algebraic localization and algebraicN-dependence of the resistance, with a distribution of exponents. A class of Hamiltonian nonlinear wave equations possessing complex solitary waves with exponential decay is studied. It is shown that the interpulse interactions in a train of nearly identical solitary waves with large separations between the individual solitary waves are approximately described by a double Toda lattice system, with two variables at each lattice site. Under certain conditions, which are explicitly identified as Cauchy-Riemann equations, the two dynamical variables are real and imaginary parts of a single complex variable, leading to the complex Toda lattice equations, which is a discrete integrable dynamical system. This analysis generalizes to certain nonintegrable partial differential equations a recent result for the nonlinear Schr?dinger equation, and is important for the study of nonlinear communications channels in optical fibers. An example, the cubic-quintic nonlinear Schr?dinger equation, is worked out in detail to show that the theory can be carried through analytically. The theory is used to determine the stability of an infinite chain of nearly identical pulses separated by large time intervals. The entire theory is nonperturbative in the sense that the nonlinear wave equation need not be a weak perturbation of an integrable one.  相似文献

We provide numerical evidence that a p(x)-ip(y) paired Bonderson-Slingerland (BS) non-Abelian hierarchy state is a strong candidate for the observed ν=12/5 quantum Hall plateau. We confirm the existence of a gapped incompressible ν=12/5 quantum Hall state with shift S=2 on the sphere, matching that of the BS state. The exact ground state of the Coulomb interaction at S=2 is shown to have a large overlap with the BS trial wave function. Larger overlaps are obtained with BS-type wave functions that are hierarchical descendants of general p(x)-ip(y) weakly paired states at ν=5/2. We perform a finite-size scaling analysis of the ground-state energies for ν=12/5 states at shifts corresponding to the BS (S=2) and 3-clustered Read-Rezayi (S=-2) universality classes. This analysis reveals very tight competition between these two non-Abelian topological orders.  相似文献
