Let T be a compact disjointness preserving linear operator from C0(X) into C0(Y), where X and Y are locally compact Hausdorff spaces. We show that T can be represented as a norm convergent countable sum of disjoint rank one operators. More precisely, T = Σn δ ?hn for a (possibly finite) sequence {xn }n of distinct points in X and a norm null sequence {hn }n of mutually disjoint functions in C0(Y). In this paper, we find sufficient and necessary conditions for a triangularizable closed algebra of polynomially compact operators to be commutative modulo the radical. We also prove that an algebraic algebra of operators of a bounded degree on a Banach space is triangularizable under some mild additional conditions. As a special case we obtain a result stating that every algebraic algebra of operators of bounded degree is triangularizable whenever its commutators are nilpotent operators. 相似文献

A result of Aliprantis and Burkinshaw shows that weakly compact operators from an AL-space into a KB-space have a weakly compact modulus. Groenewegen characterised the largest class of range spaces for which this remains true whenever the domain is an AL-space and Schmidt proved a dual result. Both of these authors used vector-valued integration in their proofs. We give elementary proofs of both results and also characterise the largest class of domains for which the conclusion remains true whenever the range space is a KB-space. We conclude by studying the order structure of spaces of weakly compact operators between Banach lattices to prove results analogous to earlier results of one of the authors for spaces of compact operators.

By using the technique of factoring weakly compact operators through reflexive Banach spaces we prove that a class of ordinary differential equations with Lipschitz continuous perturbations has a strong solution when the problem is governed by a closed linear operator generating a strongly continuous semigroup of compact operators.

We first prove the existence of a dense-range and injective compact operator such that each is a dense subset of , solving a problem of Yahaghi (2004). Our second main result concerns isomorphic and dense-range injective compact mappings between dense sets of linearly independent vectors, extending a result of Grivaux (2003).

Weak compactness of the analytic composition operator f?f○φ is studied on BMOA(X), the space of X-valued analytic functions of bounded mean oscillation, and its subspace VMOA(X), where X is a complex Banach space. It is shown that the composition operator is weakly compact on BMOA(X) if X is reflexive and the corresponding composition operator is compact on the scalar-valued BMOA. A concrete example is given which shows that BMOA(X) differs from the weak vector-valued BMOA for infinite dimensional Banach spaces X. 相似文献

Let B(X) be the algebra of bounded operators on a complex Banach space X. Viewing B(X) as an algebra over R, we study the structure of those irreducible subalgebras which contain nonzero compact operators. In particular, irreducible algebras of trace-class operators with real trace are characterized. This yields an extension of Brauer-type results on matrices to operators in infinite dimensions, answering the question: is an irreducible semigroup of compact operators with real spectra realizable, i.e., simultaneously similar to a semigroup whose matrices are real? 相似文献

This paper gives the concepts of finite dimensional irreducible operators((FDI) operators)and infinite dimensional irreducible operators((IDI) operators). Discusses the relationships of(FDI)operators,(IDI) operators and strongly irreducible operators((SI) operators) and illustrates some properties of the three classes of operators. Some sufficient conditions for the finite-dimensional irreducibility of operators which have the forms of upper triangular operator matrices are given. This paper proves that every operator with a singleton spectrum is a small compact perturbation of an(FDI) operator on separable Banach spaces and shows that every bounded linear operator T can be approximated by operators in(Σ FDI)(X) with respect to the strong-operator topology and every compact operator K can be approximated by operators in(Σ FDI)(X) with respect to the norm topology on a Banach space X with a Schauder basis, where(ΣFDI)(X) := {T∈B(X) : T=Σki=1Ti, Ti ∈(FDI), k ∈ N}. 相似文献
