The fabrication of flexible, stretchable and rechargeable devices with a high energy density is critical for next‐generation electronics. Herein, fiber‐shaped Zn–air batteries, are realized for the first time by designing aligned, cross‐stacked and porous carbon nanotube sheets simultaneously that behave as a gas diffusion layer, a catalyst layer, and a current collector. The combined remarkable electronic and mechanical properties of the aligned carbon nanotube sheets endow good electrochemical properties. They display excellent discharge and charge performances at a high current density of 2 A g−1. They are also flexible and stretchable, which is particularly promising to power portable and wearable electronic devices.  相似文献

Owing to the high theoretical energy density of metal–air batteries, the aluminum–air battery has been proposed as a promising long‐term power supply for electronics. However, the available energy density from the aluminum–air battery is far from that anticipated and is limited by current electrode materials. Herein we described the creation of a new family of all‐solid‐state fiber‐shaped aluminum–air batteries with a specific capacity of 935 mAh g?1 and an energy density of 1168 Wh kg?1. The synthesis of an electrode composed of cross‐stacked aligned carbon‐nanotube/silver‐nanoparticle sheets contributes to the remarkable electrochemical performance. The fiber shape also provides the aluminum–air batteries with unique advantages; for example, they are flexible and stretchable and can be woven into a variety of textiles for large‐scale applications.  相似文献

Flexible zinc–air batteries (ZAB) are a promising battery candidate for emerging flexible electronic devices, but the catalysis‐based working principle and unique semi‐opened structure pose a severe challenge to their overall performance at cold temperature. Herein, we report the first flexible rechargeable ZAB with excellent low‐temperature adaptability, based on the innovation of an efficient electrocatalyst to offset the electrochemical performance shrinkage caused by decreased temperature and a highly conductive hydrogel with a polarized terminal group to render the anti‐freezing property. The fabricated ZABs show excellent electrochemical performances that outperform those of many aqueous ZABs at room temperature. They also deliver a high capacity of 691 mAh g?1 and an energy density of 798 Wh kg?1 at ?20 °C (92.7 % and 87.2 % retention of the room temperature counterparts, respectively), together with excellent flexibility and reverting capability.  相似文献

Two types of templates, an active metal salt and silica nanoparticles, are used concurrently to achieve the facile synthesis of hierarchical meso/microporous FeCo‐Nx‐carbon nanosheets (meso/micro‐FeCo‐Nx‐CN) with highly dispersed metal sites. The resulting meso/micro‐FeCo‐Nx‐CN shows high and reversible oxygen electrocatalytic performances for both ORR and OER, thus having potential for applications in rechargeable Zn–air battery. Our approach creates a new pathway to fabricate 2D meso/microporous structured carbon architectures for bifunctional oxygen electrodes in rechargeable Zn–air battery as well as opens avenues to the scale‐up production of rationally designed heteroatom‐doped catalytic materials for a broad range of applications.  相似文献

The lack of high‐efficient, low‐cost, and durable bifunctional electrocatalysts that act simultaneously for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is currently one of the major obstacles to commercializing the electrical rechargeability of zinc–air batteries. A nanocomposite CoO‐NiO‐NiCo bifunctional electrocatalyst supported by nitrogen‐doped multiwall carbon nanotubes (NCNT/CoO‐NiO‐NiCo) exhibits excellent activity and stability for the ORR/OER in alkaline media. More importantly, real air cathodes made from the bifunctional NCNT/CoO‐NiO‐NiCo catalysts further demonstrated superior performance to state‐of‐the‐art Pt/C or Pt/C+IrO2 catalysts in primary and rechargeable zinc–air batteries.  相似文献

The construction of lightweight, flexible and stretchable power systems for modern electronic devices without using elastic polymer substrates is critical but remains challenging. We have developed a new and general strategy to produce both freestanding, stretchable, and flexible supercapacitors and lithium‐ion batteries with remarkable electrochemical properties by designing novel carbon nanotube fiber springs as electrodes. These springlike electrodes can be stretched by over 300 %. In addition, the supercapacitors and lithium‐ion batteries have a flexible fiber shape that enables promising applications in electronic textiles.  相似文献

A zinc–iodine flow battery (ZIFB) with long cycle life, high energy, high power density, and self‐healing behavior is prepared. The long cycle life was achieved by employing a low‐cost porous polyolefin membrane and stable electrolytes. The pores in the membrane can be filled with a solution containing I3? that can react with zinc dendrite. Therefore, by consuming zinc dendrite, the battery can self‐recover from micro‐short‐circuiting resulting from overcharging. By using KI, ZnBr2, and KCl as electrolytes and a high ion‐conductivity porous membrane, a very high power density can be achieved. As a result, a ZIFB exhibits an energy efficiency (EE) of 82 % at 80 mA cm?2, which is 8 times higher than the currently reported ZIFBs. Furthermore, a stack with an output of 700 W was assembled and continuously run for more than 300 cycles. We believe this ZIFB can lead the way to development of new‐generation, high‐performance flow batteries.  相似文献

Aqueous zinc (Zn) batteries have been considered as promising candidates for grid‐scale energy storage. However, their cycle stability is generally limited by the structure collapse of cathode materials and dendrite formation coupled with undesired hydrogen evolution on the Zn anode. Herein we propose a zinc–organic battery with a phenanthrenequinone macrocyclic trimer (PQ‐MCT) cathode, a zinc‐foil anode, and a non‐aqueous electrolyte of a N,N‐dimethylformamide (DMF) solution containing Zn2+. The non‐aqueous nature of the system and the formation of a Zn2+–DMF complex can efficiently eliminate undesired hydrogen evolution and dendrite growth on the Zn anode, respectively. Furthermore, the organic cathode can store Zn2+ ions through a reversible coordination reaction with fast kinetics. Therefore, this battery can be cycled 20 000 times with negligible capacity fading. Surprisingly, this battery can even be operated in a wide temperature range from ?70 to 150 °C.  相似文献

A RuO2 shell was uniformly coated on the surface of core CNTs by a simple sol–gel method, and the resulting composite was used as a catalyst in a rechargeable Li–O2 battery. This core–shell structure can effectively prevent direct contact between the CNT and the discharge product Li2O2, thus avoiding or reducing the formation of Li2CO3, which can induce large polarization and lead to charge failure. The battery showed a high round‐trip efficiency (ca. 79 %), with discharge and charge overpotentials of 0.21 and 0.51 V, respectively, at a current of 100 mA gtotal?1. The ever‐increasing consumption of a huge quantity of lithium batteries, for example, Li–MnO2 cells, raises critical concern about their recycling. We demonstrate herein that decayed Li–MnO2 cells can be further utilized as rechargeable lithium–air cells with admitted oxygen. We further investigated the effects of lithiated manganese dioxide on the electrocatalytic properties of oxygen‐reduction and oxygen‐evolution reactions (ORR/OER). The catalytic activity was found to be correlated with the composition of LixMnO2 electrodes (0<x<1) generated in situ in aprotic Li–MnO2 cells owing to tuning of the Mn valence and electronic structure. In particular, modestly lithiated Li0.50MnO2 exhibited superior performance with enhanced round‐trip efficiency (ca. 76 %), high cycling ability (190 cycles), and high discharge capacity (10 823 mA h gcarbon?1). The results indicate that the use of depleted Li–MnO2 batteries can be prolonged by their application as rechargeable lithium–air batteries.  相似文献

A unique sodium sulfide (Na2S) cathode is developed, which will allow the use of sodium‐free anodes for room‐temperature sodium–sulfur (Na–S) batteries. To overcome the “inert” nature of the Na2S, a special cathode structure is developed by spreading the multi‐walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)‐wrapped Na2S particles onto MWCNT fabrics. Spectroscopic and electrochemical analyses reveal a series of polysulfide intermediates involved in the charge/discharge of the cell. The Na–S battery prepared in full discharge state with the Na2S/MWCNT cathode provides a remarkable capacity of 500 A h kg?1 (based on sulfur mass) after 50 cycles.  相似文献

A stretchable wire‐shaped lithium‐ion battery is produced from two aligned multi‐walled carbon nanotube/lithium oxide composite yarns as the anode and cathode without extra current collectors and binders. The two composite yarns can be well paired to obtain a safe battery with superior electrochemical properties, such as energy densities of 27 Wh kg?1 or 17.7 mWh cm?3 and power densities of 880 W kg?1 or 0.56 W cm?3, which are an order of magnitude higher than the densities reported for lithium thin‐film batteries. These wire‐shaped batteries are flexible and light, and 97 % of their capacity was maintained after 1000 bending cycles. They are also very elastic as they are based on a modified spring structure, and 84 % of the capacity was maintained after stretching for 200 cycles at a strain of 100 %. Furthermore, these novel wire‐shaped batteries have been woven into lightweight, flexible, and stretchable battery textiles, which reveals possible large‐scale applications.  相似文献

Lithium–air batteries are promising devices for electrochemical energy storage because of their ultrahigh energy density. However, it is still challenging to achieve practical Li–air batteries because of their severe capacity fading and poor rate capability. Electrolytes are the prime suspects for cell failure. In this Review, we focus on the opportunities and challenges of electrolytes for rechargeable Li–air batteries. A detailed summary of the reaction mechanisms, internal compositions, instability factors, selection criteria, and design ideas of the considered electrolytes is provided to obtain appropriate strategies to meet the battery requirements. In particular, ionic liquid (IL) electrolytes and solid‐state electrolytes show exciting opportunities to control both the high energy density and safety.  相似文献

Despite the high theoretical capacity of lithium–sulfur batteries, their practical applications are severely hindered by a fast capacity decay, stemming from the dissolution and diffusion of lithium polysulfides in the electrolyte. A novel functional carbon composite (carbon‐nanotube‐interpenetrated mesoporous nitrogen‐doped carbon spheres, MNCS/CNT), which can strongly adsorb lithium polysulfides, is now reported to act as a sulfur host. The nitrogen functional groups of this composite enable the effective trapping of lithium polysulfides on electroactive sites within the cathode, leading to a much improved electrochemical performance (1200 mAh g?1 after 200 cycles). The enhancement in adsorption can be attributed to the chemical bonding of lithium ions by nitrogen functional groups in the MNCS/CNT framework. Furthermore, the micrometer‐sized spherical structure of the material yields a high areal capacity (ca. 6 mAh cm?2) with a high sulfur loading of approximately 5 mg cm?2, which is ideal for practical applications of the lithium–sulfur batteries.  相似文献

Developing rechargeable Na–CO2 batteries is significant for energy conversion and utilization of CO2. However, the reported batteries in pure CO2 atmosphere are non‐rechargeable with limited discharge capacity of 200 mAh g?1. Herein, we realized the rechargeability of a Na–CO2 battery, with the proposed and demonstrated reversible reaction of 3 CO2+4 Na?2 Na2CO3+C. The battery consists of a Na anode, an ether‐based electrolyte, and a designed cathode with electrolyte‐treated multi‐wall carbon nanotubes, and shows reversible capacity of 60000 mAh g?1 at 1 A g?1 (≈1000 Wh kg?1) and runs for 200 cycles with controlled capacity of 2000 mAh g?1 at charge voltage <3.7 V. The porous structure, high electro‐conductivity, and good wettability of electrolyte to cathode lead to reduced electrochemical polarization of the battery and further result in high performance. Our work provides an alternative approach towards clean recycling and utilization of CO2.  相似文献

Core–shell hierarchical porous carbon spheres (HPCs) were synthesized by a facile hydrothermal method and used as host to incorporate sulfur. The microstructure, morphology, and specific surface areas of the resultant samples have been systematically characterized. The results indicate that most of sulfur is well dispersed over the core area of HPCs after the impregnation of sulfur. Meanwhile, the shell of HPCs with void pores is serving as a retard against the dissolution of lithium polysulfides. This structure can enhance the transport of electron and lithium ions as well as alleviate the stress caused by volume change during the charge–discharge process. The as‐prepared HPC‐sulfur (HPC‐S) composite with 65.3 wt % sulfur delivers a high specific capacity of 1397.9 mA h g?1 at a current density of 335 mA g?1 (0.2 C) as a cathode material for lithium–sulfur (Li‐S) batteries, and the discharge capacity of the electrode could still reach 753.2 mA h g?1 at 6700 mA g?1 (4 C). Moreover, the composite electrode exhibited an excellent cycling capacity of 830.5 mA h g?1 after 200 cycles.  相似文献

The utilization of the greenhouse gas CO2 in energy‐storage systems is highly desirable. It is now shown that the introduction of graphene as a cathode material significantly improves the performance of Li–CO2 batteries. Such batteries display a superior discharge capacity and enhanced cycle stability. Therefore, graphene can act as an efficient cathode in Li–CO2 batteries, and it provides a novel approach for simultaneously capturing CO2 and storing energy.  相似文献
