The dipolar and octupolar contributions of the second order nonlinear optical properties of [(4'-(C(6)H(4)-p-D)-2,2':6',2'-terpyridine)-Ru-(4'-(C(6)H(4)-p-A)-2,2':6',2'-terpyridine)]Y(2) heteroleptic complexes (D and A are donor and acceptor groups, respectively), and related free terpyridines and homoleptic complexes, have been obtained by means of a comprehensive combination of Electric Field Induced Second Harmonic generation, Third Harmonic Generation, and Harmonic Light Scattering measurements. These results evidence how a metal can act as a bridge between two π-delocalized terpyridine moieties bearing a D and an A group, respectively, leading to a large quadratic hyperpolarizability hugely dominated by the octupolar contribution.  相似文献

The 5-nitro-2-anthranilates of lanthanum(III), samarium(III), terbium(III), erbium(III) and lutetium(III) were obtained as hydrates having 2.5 mol of water molecules per 1 mol of compound. The compounds are isostructural. The processes of dehydration and rehydration were investigated. The first step of dehydration does not cause the change of crystal structure. The entire dehydration gives anhydrous compounds with different structure than the structure of hydrates. However, the dehydration of La, Sm, Tb and Er is reversible - the rehydration process gives the complexes having the same crystal structure as the initial compounds. Only the anhydrous lutetium complex under the influence of moisture does not give the starting compound. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The equilibrium geometries, electronic structures, one- and two-photon absorption (TPA) properties of a series of octupolar complexes with the Cu(I), Zn(II) and Al(III) as coordinate centers and the bis-cinnamaldimine as ligands have been studied using the B3LYP/6-31G(d) and ZINDO-SOS methods. Compared with the dipolar metal complexes, all the octupolar metal complexes (including tetrahedral and octahedral complexes) have relatively large TPA cross-sections, indicating that building octupolar metal complex is an effective route to design of promising TPA material. Lewis acidity of metal center and molecular symmetry are two important factors for enhancement of TPA cross-section of metal complex. Due to the stronger Lewis acidity of Zn(II) than Cu(I) as well as Al(III) than Zn(II), the tetrahedral Zn(II) complex exhibits a TPA cross-section larger than that of the tetrahedral Cu(I) complex, the maximum TPA position of the octahedral Al(III) complex is red-shifted relative to the octahedral Zn(II) complex, and at the same time, the octahedral Al(III) complex has a large TPA cross-section. Compared with the tetrahedral complexes, the TPA cross-sections of the octahedral complexes are enhanced due to the increased number of ligands.  相似文献

Two-photon absorption (TPA) cross sections of four representative series of octupolar molecules are theoretically investigated. The general structure--TPA-property relationship is described by using the effective four-state valence-bond three-charge-transfer model. As the charge-transfer character of the ground electronic state increases due to the strong donors or acceptors, (i) the transition dipole matrix elements between the ground and 2-fold degenerate excited states increase, (ii) the energy gap decreases, and consequently (iii) the TPA transition amplitude monotonically increases. Thus, the design strategy to maximize the TPA cross section of the octupolar molecule is established. On the basis of the four-state model, the first hyperpolarizability of the octupolar molecule is found to be linearly proportional to the TPA cross section. This theoretical relationship is confirmed by using the ab initio calculation results. The Hammett correlation analysis of the TPA cross section and first hyperpolarizability is also presented.  相似文献

A series of D3 (Fe(II), Ru(II), Zn(II), Hg(II)) and D2d (Cu(I), Ag(I), Zn(II)) octupolar metal complexes featuring different functionalized bipyridyl ligands has been synthesized, and their thermal, linear (absorption and emission), and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties were determined. Their quadratic NLO susceptibilities were determined by harmonic light scattering at 1.91 microm, and the molecular hyperpolarizability (beta0) values are in the range of 200-657 x 10(-30) esu for octahedral complexes and 70-157 x 10(-30) esu for tetrahedral complexes. The octahedral zinc(II) complex 1 e, which contains a 4,4'-oligophenylenevinylene-functionalized 2,2'-bipyridine, exhibits the highest quadratic hyperpolarizability ever reported for an octupolar derivative (lambdamax=482 nm, beta1.91(1 e)=870 x 10(-30) esu, beta0(1 e)=657 x 10(-30) esu). Herein, we demonstrate that the optical and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties are strongly influenced by the symmetry of the complexes, the nature of the ligands (donor endgroups and pi linkers), and the nature of the metallic centers. For example, the length of the pi-conjugated backbone, the Lewis acidity of the metal ion, and the increase of ligand-to-metal ratio result in a substantial enhancement of beta. The contribution of the metal-to-ligand (MLCT) transition to the molecular hyperpolarizability is also discussed with respect to octahedral d6 complexes (M=Fe, Ru).  相似文献

The cyclodextrin derivative (hexakis (2-O-carboxymethyl-3,6-anhydro)-alpha-cyclodextrin) forms mono- and bimetallic complexes with lutetium(III) in aqueous solution; the X-ray structure of the binuclear complex [Lu2(ACX)(H2O)2] is the first example of a lanthanide-cyclodextrin inclusion complex.  相似文献

The 1,4-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)-1,4-diazacyclononane (dmpdacn) ligand with a N(4)C donor set deprotonates at a CH(2) gamma to an amine under extraordinarily mild conditions (pH 7) and binds as a pentadentate ligand to Co(III) as the [Co(dmpdacn-C)(OH(2))](2+) complex. This complex was characterized by 1D and 2D NMR techniques, and a single-crystal X-ray structure is reported. In an alternative synthesis from Co(II), dmpdacn, and air, the same C-bonded complex is obtained along with a novel hydroxylated Co(III) complex [Co(dmpdacnOH-O)Cl](2+) which has been similarly characterized. Here the carbanion has been oxidized, a C- to O-bonded rearrangement has taken place, and the bound aqua group is replaced by Cl(-). The base hydrolysis kinetics of the hydroxylated Co(III) complex are reported, and mechanisms for this and the unusually facile C-H cleavage and CH(2) oxidation reactions are discussed.  相似文献

Thermally stable dipolar and octupolar (D2d, D3) NLO-phores are readily accessible by combining one, two, or three 4,4'-bis(dialkylaminostyryl)-[2,2']-bipyridyl ligands with zinc(II) salts. The off-resonant beta0 values point out the superiority of octupoles versus dipoles in terms of nonlinearity/transparency tradeoff. The octahedral tris(bipyridyl)zinc(II) complex exhibits a very large beta0 value (241 x 10-30 esu), which is the largest ever reported for octupolar molecules.  相似文献

The preparation and properties of the first strontium-manganese molecular complex are described. The reaction of (NBu(n)4)[Mn4O2(O2CPh)9(H 2O)] (4Mn(III)) with Sr(ClO4)2 in MeCN/MeOH led to the isolation of [SrMn14O11(OMe)3(O2CPh)18(MeCN)2] ( 1; 13Mn(III), Mn(II)). The structure of 1 consists of two [Mn4O3(OMe)] cubane units attached to a central, near-planar, trinuclear [Mn3O4] unit, to which are also attached a Mn and a Sr above the plane and a [Mn2O(OMe)] rhomb below the plane. Peripheral ligation is provided by 18 bridging benzoate and two terminal MeCN groups. Variable-temperature and -field dc magnetization (M) data were collected in the 1.8-10 K and 0.1-4.0 T ranges and fit by matrix diagonalization methods to give S = 9/2, D = -0.50(5) cm(-1), and g = 1.88(10), where S is the ground-state spin and D is the axial zero-field splitting parameter. Magnetization versus dc field sweeps at various temperatures and scan rates exhibited hysteresis loops, confirming 1 to be a new single-molecule magnet. Because complex 1 is the initial molecular example of intimately associated Mn and Sr atoms, Sr EXAFS studies have been performed for the first time on a synthetic Sr-containing molecule. This has also allowed comparisons with the EXAFS data on the Sr-substituted water oxidizing complex (WOC) of Photosystem II (PS II), which contains a SrMn4 complex.  相似文献

1 INTRODUCTION Coordination chemistry has been playing an important role in nonlinear optical (NLO) materi- als [1~3] in recent years. It has been found that tetrahedral or square pyramidal molecular configurations are useful for designing transparent second-harmonic generation (SHG) materials from coordination compounds[4]. It has also been reported that the pyridyl-based metal complexes can exhibit SHG effects[5]. Recently, we have successfully synthesized a new coordination compoun…  相似文献

In this work we present an investigation of the non-linear optical (NLO) properties of two octupolar chromophores: [Zn(4,4'-bis(dibutylaminostyryl)-[2,2']-bipyridine)(3)](2+) and [Zn(4,4'-bis((E)-2-(N-(TEG)pyrrol-2-yl)vinyl)-[2,2']-bipyridine)(3)](2+) with Zn(ii) as the coordination center, using two-photon emission technique (TPE) in fs-pulse temporal regime. Compared to the free ligands, our results do not show a net increase in the two-photon absorption (TPA) cross-section for the octupolar complexes, once normalized to the ligand unit. This is in partial disagreement with a previous theoretical study investigating the first molecule where a significant increase of the TPA cross-section was predicted (X. J. Liu, et al., J. Chem. Phys., 2004, 120, 11 493).  相似文献

Acid base interactions of octaphenyltetrapyrazinoporphyrazine and its complex with lutetium(III) in acetic and trifluoroacetic acid media were studied, and parameters characterizing equilibria between the acid and base forms were determined. Acid-base interactions of octaphenyltetrapyrazinoporphyrazine involve primarily nitrogen atoms in the pyrazine fragments, while its lutetium(III) complex undergoes protonation at the meso-nitrogen atoms.  相似文献

The periodic octupolar vibrational nature of the electron cloud in sandwich‐type bis(phthalocyaninato) yttrium double‐decker compounds has been revealed on the basis of coupled perturbed density functional theory. This in turn results in an intense hyper‐Rayleigh scattering response and renders the double‐decker skeletons excellent second‐order hyperpolarizability with a maximum value as high as 5.55×106 au (≈105×10?30 esu, theoretical prediction) achieved for the molecular conformation with a rotation angle between two phthalocyanine chromophores of approximately 70°.  相似文献

In order to gain an understanding of the role of the sulfenyl group of nitrile hydratase (NHase), a new Co(III) complex with a sulfenyl-type ligand (LC=O:N2(SO)2), Na[CoIII(LC=O:N2(SO)2)(tBuNC)2] (2), was synthesized. The compound includes two amide groups, two sulfenate sulfurs in the equatorial plane, and two tBuNC molecules in the axial positions. Characterization of the compound was performed by UV-vis spectroscopic, IR spectral, thermogravimetric (TG), and X-ray structure analytical methods. The results are discussed in the context of Co(III) complexes containing the corresponding sulfur-type (LC=O:N2S2) (1) and sulfinyl-type ligands (LC=O:N2(SO2)2) (3). Complex 2 crystallized with the formula Na[CoIII(LC=O:N2(SO)2)(tBuNC)2].urea.2H2O.0.5EtOH. The X-ray structure revealed that the Co(III) complex has an octahedral geometry with Co-S=av. 2.221 A, Co-N=av. 1.998 A, and Co-C=av. 1.87 A. The sulfenyl oxygen and amidate carbonyl oxygen are linked to urea, water, EtOH, and Na+ and participate in a hydrogen-bond and an electrostatic interaction. IR and TG measurements demonstrated that the coordination strength of tBuNC to the Co atom increases as follows: 1<2<3. Complex 2 has almost the same stability as 3 in all solutions tested, although 1 exhibits a release of axial ligands in nonaqueous solutions. DFT calculations for 1, 2, and 3 demonstrated that Milliken atomic charges of the Co(III) centers are +1.466, +1.536, and +1.542, respectively, indicating that the extent of oxidation of the sulfur atoms increases the Lewis acidity of the Co(III) centers. Interestingly, the solution-state IR spectrum of 2 exhibits a solvent-dependent S-O stretching frequency. The frequency decreases with an increase in the electrophilicity (acceptor number) of the solvent. This solvent dependence was not observed for 3, which has a sulfinate (SO2) group, suggesting that the sulfenyl oxygen atom has nucleophilic character and promotes strong binding of the tBuNC molecule to lower the reaction barrier. These findings may suggest that the sulfenate oxygen in native NHase acts as a base (proton acceptor) and contributes to the activation of a water molecule and/or nitrile molecule.  相似文献

The tripodal hexadentate picolinate ligand dpaa3- (H3dpaa=N,N'-bis[(6-carboxypyridin-2-yl)methyl]glycine) has been synthesised. It can form 1:1 and 1:2 lanthanide/ligand complexes. The crystal structure of the bis(aquo) lutetium complex [Lu(dpaa)(H2O)2] has been determined by X-ray diffraction studies. The number of water molecules was determined by luminescence lifetime studies of the terbium and europium complexes. The tris(aquo) terbium complex shows a fairly high luminescence quantum yield (22 %). The [Gd(dpaa)(H2O)3] complex displays a high water solubility and an increased stability (pGd=12.3) with respect to the analogous bis(aquo) complex [Gd(tpaa)(H2O)2] (pGd=11.2). Potentiometric and relaxometric studies show the formation of a soluble GdIII hydroxo complex at high pH values. A unique aquohydroxo gadolinium complex has been isolated and its crystal structure determined. This complex crystallises as a 1D polymeric chain consisting of square-shaped tetrameric units. In heavy water, the [Gd(dpaa)-(D2O)3] complex shows a quite high HOD proton relaxivity at high field (11.93 s(-1) mM(-1) at 200 MHz and 298 K) because of the three inner-sphere water molecules. The formation of ternary complexes with physiological anions has been monitored by relaxometric studies, which indicate that even under conditions favourable to the formation of adducts with oxyanions, the mean relaxivity remains higher than those of most of the currently used commercial contrast agents except for the citrate. However, the measured relaxivity (r1=7.9 s(-1) mM(-1)) in a solution containing equimolar concentrations of [Gd(dpaa)(D2O)3] and citrate is still high. The interaction with albumin has been investigated by relaxometric and luminescence studies. Finally, a new versatile method to unravel the geometric and dynamic molecular factors that explain the high-field relaxivities has been developed. This approach uses a small, uncharged non-coordinating probe solute, the outer-sphere relaxivity of which mimics that of the water proton. Only a routine NMR spectrometer and simple mathematical analysis are required.  相似文献

Heterogeneous self-assembly of thiacalix[4]arene-p-tetrasulfonate (TCAS), Ag(I), and Ln(III) (= Nd(III), Yb(III)) in aqueous solutions conveniently afforded ternary complexes emitting Ln(III)-centered luminescence in the near-infrared (NIR) region. A solution-state study revealed that the Ag(I)-Nd(III)-TCAS system gave a complex Ag(I)(4)·Nd(III)·TCAS(2) in a wide pH range of 6-12. In contrast, the Ag(I)-Yb(III)-TCAS system gave Ag(I)(2)·Yb(III)(2)·TCAS(2) at a pH of around 6 and Ag(I)(2)·Yb(III)·TCAS(2) at a pH of approximately 9.5. The structures of the Yb(III) complexes were proposed based on comparison with known Ag(I)-Tb(III)-TCAS complexes that show the same self-assembly behavior. In Ag(I)(2)·Yb(III)(2)·TCAS(2), two TCAS ligands sandwiched a cyclic array of a Ag(I)-Ag(I)-Yb(III)-Yb(III) core. In Ag(I)(2)·Yb(III)·TCAS(2), Yb(III) was accommodated in an O(8) cube consisting of eight phenolate O(-) groups from two TCAS ligands linked by two S-Ag-S linkages. Crystallographic analysis of Ag(I)(4)·Nd(III)·TCAS(2) revealed that the structure was similar to Ag(I)(2)·Yb(III)·TCAS(2) but that it had four instead of two S-Ag-S linkages. The number of water molecules coordinating to Ln(III) (q) estimated on the basis of the luminescent lifetimes was as follows: Ag(I)(4)·Nd(III)·TCAS(2), 0; Ag(I)(2)·Yb(III)(2)·TCAS(2), 2.4; and Ag(I)(2)·Yb(III)·TCAS(2), 0. These findings were compatible with the solution-state structures. The luminescent quantum yield (Φ) for Ag(I)(4)·Nd(III)·TCAS(2) was 4.9 × 10(-4), which is the second largest value ever reported in H(2)O. These findings suggest that the O(8) cube is an ideal environment to circumvent deactivation via O-H oscillation of coordinating water. The Φ values for Ag(I)(2)·Yb(III)(2)·TCAS(2) and Ag(I)(2)·Yb(III)·TCAS(2) were found to be 3.8 × 10(-4) and 3.3 × 10(-3), respectively, reflecting the q value. Overall, these results indicate that the ternary systems have the potential for a noncovalent strategy via self-assembly of the multidentate ligand, Ln(III), and an auxiliary metal ion to obtain a highly efficient NIR-emissive Ln(III) complex that usually relies on elaborate covalent linkage of a chromophore and multidentate ligands to expel coordinating water.  相似文献

The synthesis of a new sandwich lutetium(III) bisphthalocyanine substituted with hexylthio groups (1), [(C6H1)S)8-Pc]2Lu, is described. The compound is very soluble in most common organic solvents and has been fully characterized (elemental analysis, IR, 1H and 13C NMR, UV-vis spectroscopy, mass spectrometry). The chemically oxidized and reduced forms have been formed and characterized. The crystal structure of the compound (1) has been determined by X-ray diffraction on a single crystal. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with a = 31.558(2) A, b = 32.755(2) A, c = 20.489(1) A, beta = 127.119(1) degrees, and Z = 4. The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility, measured on polycrystalline samples and in the range 6-300 K, is in agreement with one unpaired electron per molecular unit as found for the unsubstituted derivative. The magnetic results can be modeled assuming one-dimensional chain of spin S = 1/2 with g = 2.04 and an antiferromagnetic coupling (J = -11.83 cm(-1), H = -2JSigmaSiSj).  相似文献

A bis-hydroxo-bridged diiron(III) complex and a bis-mu-oxo-bis-mu-hydroxo-bridged tetrairon(III) complex are isolated from the reaction of 2,6-bis((N,N'-bis-(2-picolyl)amino)methyl)-4-tert-butylphenol (Hbpbp) with iron perchlorate in acidic and neutral solutions respectively. The X-ray structure of the dinuclear complex [{(Hbpbp)Fe([mu-OH)}(2)](ClO(4))(4).2C(3)H(6)O (1.2C3H6O) shows that only one of the metal-binding cavities of each ligand is occupied by an iron(III) atom and two [Fe(Hbpbp)]3+ units are linked together by two hydroxo bridging groups to form a [Fe(III)-(mu-OH)](2) rhomb structure with Fe...Fe = 3.109(1)A. The non-coordinated tertiary amine of Hbpbp is protonated. Magnetic susceptibility measurements show a well-behaved weak antiferromagnetic coupling between the two Fe(III) atoms, J= -8 cm(-1). The tetranuclear complex [(bpbp)(2)Fe(4)(mu-O)(2)(mu-OH)(2)](ClO(4))(4)(2) was isolated as two different solvates .4CH(3)OH and .6H(2)O with markedly different crystal morphologies at pH ca. 6. Complex .4CH(3)OH forms red cubic crystals and .6H(2)O forms green crystalline platelets. The Fe(4)O(6) core of shows an adamantane-like structure: The six bridging oxygen atoms are provided by the two phenolato groups of the two bpbp(-) ligands, two bridging oxo groups and two bridging hydroxo groups. The hydroxo and oxo ligands could be distinguished on the basis of Fe-O bond lengths of the two different octahedral iron sites: Fe-mu-OH, 1.953(5), 2.013(5)A and Fe-mu-O, 1.803(5), 1.802(5)A. The difference in ligand environment is too small for allowing Mossbauer spectroscopy to distinguish between the two crystallographically independent Fe sites. The best fit to the magnetic susceptibility of .4CH(3)OH was achieved by using three coupling constants J(Fe-OPh-Fe)= 2.6 cm(-1), J(Fe-OH-Fe)=-0.9 cm(-1), J(Fe-O-Fe)=-101 cm(-1) and iron(III) single ion ZFS (|D|= 0.15 cm(-1)).  相似文献

In this study, electrochemical, electrochromic and spectroelectrochemical properties of a tert-butylcalix[4]arene bridged bis double-decker lutetium(III) phthalocyanine (Lu2Pc4 2) were investigated explicitly as compared with a tert-butylcalix[4]arene bridged dimeric lutetium(III) phthalocyanine [Lu2Pc2(OAc)2 1]. Distinctive differences between electrochemical and electrochromic properties of 1 and 2 were detected. Moreover, the properties of 1 and 2 were compared with previously reported S4(CH2)4 bridged Lu2Pc2(OAc)2 and Lu2Pc4. The calixarene bridged phthalocyanine (Pc) compounds, 1 and 2 showed well-defined electrochromic behaviour with green-blue and blue-purple colour transitions. The enhanced electrochromic properties of 2, as compared to 1, were attributed to its double-decker structure, probably allowing the formation of suitable ion channels for the counter ion movement in the solid film.  相似文献
