A subgroup \(H\) of an Abelian group \(G\) is called fully inert if \((\phi H + H)/H\) is finite for every \(\phi \in \mathrm{End}(G)\) . Fully inert subgroups of free Abelian groups are characterized. It is proved that \(H\) is fully inert in the free group \(G\) if and only if it is commensurable with \(n G\) for some \(n \ge 0\) , that is, \((H + nG)/H\) and \((H + nG)/nG\) are both finite. From this fact we derive a more structural characterization of fully inert subgroups \(H\) of free groups \(G\) , in terms of the Ulm–Kaplansky invariants of \(G/H\) and the Hill–Megibben invariants of the exact sequence \(0 \rightarrow H \rightarrow G \rightarrow G/H \rightarrow 0\) .  相似文献

Suppose that \(G\) is a finite group and \(H\) is a subgroup of \(G\) . \(H\) is said to be \(s\) -quasinormally embedded in \(G\) if for each prime \(p\) dividing the order of \(H\) , a Sylow \(p\) -subgroup of \(H\) is also a Sylow \(p\) -subgroup of some \(s\) -quasinormal subgroup of \(G\) . We fix in every non-cyclic Sylow subgroup \(P\) of \(G\) some subgroup \(D\) satisfying \(1<|D|<|P|\) and study the \(p\) -nilpotency of \(G\) under the assumption that every subgroup \(H\) of \(P\) with \(|H|=|D|\) is \(s\) -quasinormally embedded in \(G\) . Some recent results and the Frobenius \(^{\prime }\) theorem are generalized.  相似文献

A circulant weighing matrix \(CW(v,n)\) is a circulant matrix \(M\) of order \(v\) with \(0,\pm 1\) entries such that \(MM^T=nI_v\) . In this paper, we study proper circulant matrices with \(n=p^2\) where \(p\) is an odd prime divisor of \(v\) . For \(p\ge 5\) , it turns out that to search for such circulant matrices leads us to two group ring equations and by studying these two equations, we manage to prove that no proper \(CW(pw,p^2)\) exists when \(p\equiv 3\pmod {4}\) or \(p=5\) .  相似文献

Isothermic surfaces in \(S^n\) are characterised by the existence of a pencil \(\nabla ^t\) of flat connections. Such a surface is special of type \(d\) if there is a family \(p(t)\) of \(\nabla ^t\) -parallel sections whose dependence on the spectral parameter \(t\) is polynomial of degree \(d\) . We prove that any isothermic surface admits a family of \(\nabla ^t\) -parallel sections which is a formal Laurent series in \(t\) . As an application, we give conformally invariant conditions for an isothermic surface in \(S^3\) to be special.  相似文献

Let \(p\) and \(q\) be two odd primes with \(p=Mf+1\) and \(M\) is even. A new construction of \(M\) -ary sequences of period \(pq\) with low periodic autocorrelation is presented in this paper based on interleaving the \(M\) -ary power residue sequence of period \(p\) according to the quadratic residue with respect to \(q\) . This construction can generate the well-known twin-prime sequence and generalized cyclotomy sequence of order two if \(M=2\) . For \(M=4\) , a new class of quaternary sequences of period \(pq\) with maximal nontrivial autocorrelation value being either \(\sqrt{5}\) or \(3\) is obtained. This achieves the best known results for such kind of quaternary sequences.  相似文献

Let \(q\) be a power of a prime integer \(p, m=p^em_0\) and \(|q|_{m_{0}}\) the order of \(q\) modulo \(m_0\) . By use of finite commutative chain ring theory, an algorithm to construct all distinct 1-generator quasi-cyclic codes with a fixed parity check polynomial over a finite field \(F_q\) of length \(mn\) and index \(n\) , under the condition that \(\mathrm {gcd}(|q|_{m_0},n)=1\) , are given.  相似文献

Let \(X\) be a smooth variety over an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(p > 0, Z\) a smooth divisor, and \(j: U=X {\setminus } Z \rightarrow X\) the natural inclusion. We introduce in an axiomatic way the notion of a \(V\) -filtration on unit \(F\) -crystals and prove such axioms determine a unique filtration. It is shown that if \(\mathcal M \) is a tame unit \(F\) -crystal on \(U\) , then such a \(V\) -filtration along \(Z\) exists on \(j_*\mathcal M \) . The degree zero component of the associated graded module is proven to be the (unipotent) nearby cycles functor of Grothendieck and Deligne under the Emerton–Kisin Riemann–Hilbert correspondence. A few applications to \(\mathbb A ^1\) and gluing are then discussed.  相似文献

Suppose that \(G\) is a finite group and \(H\) , \(K\) are subgroups of \(G\) . We say that \(H\) is weakly closed in \(K\) with respect to \(G\) if, for any \(g \in G\) such that \(H^{g}\le K\) , we have \(H^{g}=H\) . In particular, when \(H\) is a subgroup of prime-power order and \(K\) is a Sylow subgroup containing it, \(H\) is simply said to be a weakly closed subgroup of \(G\) or weakly closed in \(G\) . In the paper, we investigate the structure of finite groups by means of weakly closed subgroups.  相似文献

We consider the problem of approximating the unknown density \(u\in L^2(\Omega ,\lambda )\) of a measure \(\mu \) on \(\Omega \subset \mathbb {R}^n\) , absolutely continuous with respect to some given reference measure \(\lambda \) , only from the knowledge of finitely many moments of \(\mu \) . Given \(d\in \mathbb {N}\) and moments of order \(d\) , we provide a polynomial \(p_d\) which minimizes the mean square error \(\int (u-p)^2d\lambda \) over all polynomials \(p\) of degree at most \(d\) . If there is no additional requirement, \(p_d\) is obtained as solution of a linear system. In addition, if \(p_d\) is expressed in the basis of polynomials that are orthonormal with respect to \(\lambda \) , its vector of coefficients is just the vector of given moments and no computation is needed. Moreover \(p_d\rightarrow u\) in \(L^2(\Omega ,\lambda )\) as \(d\rightarrow \infty \) . In general nonnegativity of \(p_d\) is not guaranteed even though \(u\) is nonnegative. However, with this additional nonnegativity requirement one obtains analogous results but computing \(p_d\ge 0\) that minimizes \(\int (u-p)^2d\lambda \) now requires solving an appropriate semidefinite program. We have tested the approach on some applications arising from the reconstruction of geometrical objects and the approximation of solutions of nonlinear differential equations. In all cases our results are significantly better than those obtained with the maximum entropy technique for estimating \(u\) .  相似文献

Let \(G\) be a finite group and \(\text {cd}(G)\) be the set of irreducible character degrees of \(G\) . In this paper we prove that if \(p\) is a prime number, then the simple group \(\text {PSL}(2,p)\) is uniquely determined by its order and some information about its character degrees. In fact we prove that if \(G\) is a finite group such that (i) \(|G|=|\text {PSL}(2,p)|\) , (ii) \(p\in \text {cd}(G)\) , (iii) \(\text {cd}(G)\) has an even integer, and (iv) there does not exist any element \(a\in \text {cd}(G)\) such that \(2p\mid a\) , then \(G\cong \text {PSL}(2,p)\) . As a consequence of our result we get that \(\text {PSL}(2,p)\) is uniquely determined by its order and the largest and the second largest character degrees.  相似文献

The prime graph \(\Delta (G)\) of a finite group \(G\) is a graph whose vertices are the primes which divide the degrees of some irreducible complex characters of \(G\) and two distinct primes \(p\) and \(q\) are joined by an edge if the product \(pq\) divides some character degree of \(G\) . In this paper, we determine the upper bounds for the numbers of vertices of the prime graphs of finite groups which possess a small number of triangles. In some cases, we study the structure of such finite groups and their prime graphs in detail.  相似文献

Let \(p\) be an odd prime and let \(P\) be a \(p\) -group. We examine the order complex of the poset of elementary abelian subgroups of \(P\) having order at least \(p^2\) . Bouc and Thévenaz showed that this complex has the homotopy type of a wedge of spheres. We show that, for each nonnegative integer \(l\) , the number of spheres of dimension \(l\) in this wedge is controlled by the number of extraspecial subgroups \(X\) of \(P\) having order \(p^{2l+3}\) and satisfying \(\Omega _1(C_P(X))=Z(X)\) . We go on to provide a negative answer to a question raised by Bouc and Thévenaz concerning restrictions on the homology groups of the given complex.  相似文献

Consider an abelian variety \(A\) defined over a global field \(K\) and let \(L/K\) be a \({\mathbb {Z}}_p^d\) -extension, unramified outside a finite set of places of \(K\) , with \({{\mathrm{Gal}}}(L/K)=\Gamma \) . Let \(\Lambda (\Gamma ):={\mathbb {Z}}_p[[\Gamma ]]\) denote the Iwasawa algebra. In this paper, we study how the characteristic ideal of the \(\Lambda (\Gamma )\) -module \(X_L\) , the dual \(p\) -primary Selmer group, varies when \(L/K\) is replaced by a strict intermediate \({\mathbb {Z}}_p^e\) -extension.  相似文献

We introduce a notion of \(p\) -orthogonality in a general Banach space for \(1 \le p \le \infty \) . We use this concept to characterize \(\ell _p\) -spaces among Banach spaces and also among complete order smooth \(p\) -normed spaces as (ordered) Banach spaces with a total \(p\) -orthonormal set (in the positive cone). We further introduce a notion of \(p\) -orthogonal decomposition in order smooth \(p\) -normed spaces. We prove that if the \(\infty \) -orthogonal decomposition holds in an order smooth \(\infty \) -normed space, then the \(1\) -orthogonal decomposition holds in the dual space. We also give an example to show that the above said decomposition may not be unique.  相似文献

Let \(F\) be a \(p\) -adic field, \(\mathbf G\) a connected reductive group over \(F\) , and \(\pi \) an irreducible admissible representation of \(\mathbf G(F)\) . A result of Moeglin and Waldspurger states that, if the residual characteristic of \(F\) is different from \(2\) , then the ‘leading’ coefficients in the character expansion of \(\pi \) at the identity element of \(\mathbf G(F)\) give the dimensions of certain spaces of degenerate Whittaker forms. In this paper, we extend their result to residual characteristic 2. The outline of the proof is the same as in the original paper of Moeglin and Waldspurger, but certain constructions are modified to accommodate the case of even residual characteristic.  相似文献

To each non-square integer \(2^{2N+1}\ge 2^5\) there correspond semifields \(D\) of order of \(2^{2N+1}\) that contain \(\text{ GF}(4)\) . Hence there exist affine planes for each non-square order \(2^{2N+1}\ge 2^{5}\) that contain subaffine planes of order \(2^2\) . Moreover, there also exists semifields \(D_1\) and \(D_2\) , with \(|D_1|= |D_2| =|D|\) such that \(D_1\) is commutative and \(D_2\) is non-commutative but neither \(D_1\) nor \(D_2\) contains \(\text{ GF}(4)\) .  相似文献

A \(k\times u\lambda \) matrix \(M=[d_{ij}]\) with entries from a group \(U\) of order \(u\) is called a \((u,k,\lambda )\) -difference matrix over \(U\) if the list of quotients \(d_{i\ell }{d_{j\ell }}^{-1}, 1 \le \ell \le u\lambda ,\) contains each element of \(U\) exactly \(\lambda \) times for all \(i\ne j.\) Jungnickel has shown that \(k \le u\lambda \) and it is conjectured that the equality holds only if \(U\) is a \(p\) -group for a prime \(p.\) On the other hand, Winterhof has shown that some known results on the non-existence of \((u,u\lambda ,\lambda )\) -difference matrices are extended to \((u,u\lambda -1,\lambda )\) -difference matrices. This fact suggests us that there is a close connection between these two cases. In this article we show that any \((u,u\lambda -1,\lambda )\) -difference matrix over an abelian \(p\) -group can be extended to a \((u,u\lambda ,\lambda )\) -difference matrix.  相似文献

For a finite group \(G\) , let \(d(G)\) denote the probability that a randomly chosen pair of elements of \(G\) commute. We prove that if \(d(G)>1/s\) for some integer \(s>1\) and \(G\) splits over an abelian normal nontrivial subgroup \(N\) , then \(G\) has a nontrivial conjugacy class inside \(N\) of size at most \(s-1\) . We also extend two results of Barry, MacHale, and Ní Shé on the commuting probability in connection with supersolvability of finite groups. In particular, we prove that if \(d(G)>5/16\) then either \(G\) is supersolvable, or \(G\) isoclinic to \(A_4\) , or \(G/\mathbf{Z}(G)\) is isoclinic to \(A_4\) .  相似文献

Consider a multivalued formal function of the type 1 $$\begin{aligned} \varphi (s) : = \sum _{j=0}^k\,c_j(s).s^{\lambda + m_j}.(\mathrm{Log}\,s)^j, \end{aligned}$$ where \(\lambda \) is a positive rational number, \(c_j\) is in \({{\mathrm{\mathbb {C}}}}[[s]]\) and \(m_j \in \mathbb {N}\) for \(j \in [0,k-1]\) . The theme associated with such a \(\varphi \) is the “minimal filtered integral equation” satisfied by \(\varphi \) , in a sense which is made precise in this article. We study such objects and show that their isomorphism classes may be characterized by a finite set of complex numbers, when we assume the Bernstein polynomial of \(\varphi \) to be fixed. For a given \(\lambda \) , to fix the Bernstein polynomial is equivalent to fix a finite set of integers associated with the logarithm of the monodromy in the geometric situation described below. Our aim is to construct some analytic invariants, for instance in the following situation, let \(f : X \rightarrow D\) be a proper holomorphic function defined on a complex manifold \(X\) with values in a disc \(D\) . We assume that the only critical value is \(0 \in D\) and we consider this situation as a degenerating family of compact complex manifolds to a singular compact complex space \(f^{-1}(0)\) . To a smooth \((p+1)\) -form \(\omega \) on \(X\) such that \(\mathrm{d}\omega = 0 = \mathrm{d}f \wedge \omega \) and to a vanishing \(p\) -cycle \(\gamma \) chosen in the generic fiber \(f^{-1}(s_0), s_0 \in D \setminus \{0\}\) , we associated a “vanishing period” \(F_{\gamma }(s) : = \int _{\gamma _s} \omega \big /\mathrm{d}f \) which has an asymptotic expansion at \(0\) of the form \((1)\) above, when \(\gamma \) is chosen in the spectral subspace of \(H_p(f^{-1}(s_0), {{\mathrm{\mathbb {C}}}})\) for the eigenvalue \(\mathrm{e}^{2i\pi .\lambda }\) of the monodromy of \(f\) . Here \((\gamma _s)_{s \in D^*}\) is the horizontal multivalued family of \(p\) -cycles in the fibers of \(f\) obtained from the choice of \(\gamma \) . The aim of this article was to study the module generated by such a \(\varphi \) over the algebra \(\tilde{\mathcal {A}}\) , which is the \(b\) -completion of the algebra \(\mathcal {A}\) generated by the operators \(\mathrm{a} : = \times s\) and \(\mathrm{b} : = \int _{0}^{s}\) .  相似文献
