Directed covers of finite graphs are also known as periodic trees or trees with finitely many cone types. We expand the existing theory of directed covers of finite graphs to those of infinite graphs. While the lower growth rate still equals the branching number, upper and lower growth rates no longer coincide in general. Furthermore, the behavior of random walks on directed covers of infinite graphs is more subtle. We provide a classification in terms of recurrence and transience and point out that the critical random walk may be recurrent or transient. Our proof is based on the observation that recurrence of the random walk is equivalent to the almost sure extinction of an appropriate branching process. Two examples in random environment are provided: homesick random walk on infinite percolation clusters and random walk in random environment on directed covers. Furthermore, we calculate, under reasonable assumptions, the rate of escape with respect to suitable length functions and prove the existence of the asymptotic entropy providing an explicit formula which is also a new result for directed covers of finite graphs. In particular, the asymptotic entropy of random walks on directed covers of finite graphs is positive if and only if the random walk is transient.  相似文献

Critical catalytic branching random walk on an integer lattice ? d is investigated for all d∈?. The branching may occur at the origin only and the start point is arbitrary. The asymptotic behavior, as time grows to infinity, is determined for the mean local particles numbers. The same problem is solved for the probability of the presence of particles at a fixed lattice point. Moreover, the Yaglom type limit theorem is established for the local number of particles. Our analysis involves construction of an auxiliary Bellman–Harris branching process with six types of particles. The proofs employ the asymptotic properties of the (improper) c.d.f. of hitting times with taboo. In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior of the maximal position of a supercritical multiple catalytic branching random walk(Xn) on Z. If Mn is its maximal position at time n, we prove that there is a constant α > 0 such that Mn/n converges to α almost surely on the set of infinite number of visits to the set of catalysts. A time-continuous branching random walk on the lattice ? d , d ≥ 1, is considered when the particles may produce offspring at the origin only. We assume that the underlying Markov random walk is homogeneous and symmetric, the process is initiated at moment t = 0 by a single particle located at the origin, and the average number of offspring produced at the origin is such that the corresponding branching random walk is critical. The asymptotic behavior of the survival probability of such a process at moment t → ∞ and the presence of at least one particle at the origin is studied. In addition, we obtain the asymptotic expansions for the expectation of the number of particles at the origin and prove Yaglom-type conditional limit theorems for the number of particles located at the origin and beyond at moment t.  相似文献

We study branching random walks with continuous time. Particles performing a random walk on ?2, are allowed to be born and die only at the origin. It is assumed that the offspring reproduction law at the branching source is critical and the random walk outside the source is homogeneous and symmetric. Given particles at the origin, we prove a conditional limit theorem for the joint distribution of suitably normalized numbers of particles at the source and outside it as time unboundedly increases. We consider a continuous-time branching random walk on ? d , where the particles are born and die on a periodic set of points (sources of branching). The spectral properties of the evolution operator for the mean number of particles at an arbitrary point of ? d are studied. We investigate tail behavior of the supremum of a random walk in the case that Cramer's condition fails, namely, the intermediate case and the heavy-tailed ease. When the integrated distribution of the increment of the random walk belongs to the intersection of exponential distribution class and O-subexponential distribution class, under some other suitable conditions, we obtain some asymptotic estimates for the tail probability of the supremum and prove that the distribution of the supremum also belongs to the same distribution class. The obtained results generalize some corresponding results of N. Veraverbeke. Finally, these results are applied to renewal risk model, and asymptotic estimates for the ruin probability are presented.  相似文献

We consider a continuous-time symmetric supercritical branching random walk on a multidimensional lattice with a finite set of the particle generation centres, i.e. branching sources. The main object of study is the evolutionary operator for the mean number of particles both at an arbitrary point and on the entire lattice. The existence of positive eigenvalues in the spectrum of an evolutionary operator results in an exponential growth of the number of particles in branching random walks, called supercritical in the such case. For supercritical branching random walks, it is shown that the amount of positive eigenvalues of the evolutionary operator, counting their multiplicity, does not exceed the amount of branching sources on the lattice, while the maximal of these eigenvalues is always simple. We demonstrate that the appearance of multiple lower eigenvalues in the spectrum of the evolutionary operator can be caused by a kind of ‘symmetry’ in the spatial configuration of branching sources. The presented results are based on Green’s function representation of transition probabilities of an underlying random walk and cover not only the case of the finite variance of jumps but also a less studied case of infinite variance of jumps.  相似文献

In the present paper, we characterize the behavior of supercritical branching processes in random environment with linear fractional offspring distributions, conditioned on having small, but positive values at some large generation. As it has been noticed in previous works, there is a phase transition in the behavior of the process. Here, we examine the strongly and intermediately supercritical regimes The main result is a conditional limit theorem for the rescaled associated random walk in the intermediately case.  相似文献

We consider the state-dependent reflecting random walk on a half- strip. We provide explicit criteria for (positive) recurrence, and an explicit expression for the stationary distribution. As a consequence, the light-tailed behavior of the stationary distribution is proved under appropriate conditions. The key idea of the method employed here is the decomposition of the trajectory of the random walk and the main tool is the intrinsic branching structure buried in the random walk on a strip, which is different from the matrix-analytic method.  相似文献

In this Note, we make explicit the limit law of the renormalized supercritical branching random walk, giving credit to a conjecture formulated in Barral et al. (2012) [5] for a continuous analogue of the branching random walk. Also, in the case of a branching random walk on a homogeneous tree, we express the law of the corresponding limiting renormalized Gibbs measures, confirming, in this discrete model, conjectures formulated by physicists (Derrida and Spohn, 1988 [9]) about the Poisson–Dirichlet nature of the jumps in the limit, and precising the conjecture by giving the spatial distribution of these jumps.  相似文献

For a symmetric homogeneous and irreducible random walk on the d-dimensional integer lattice, which have a finite variance of jumps, we study passage times (taking values in [0,??]) determined by a starting point x, a hitting state y, and a taboo state z. We find the probability that these passage times are finite, and study the distribution tail. In particular, it turns out that, for the above-mentioned random walks on ? d except for a simple random walk on ?, the order of the distribution tail decrease is specified by dimension d only. In contrast, for a simple random walk on ?, the asymptotic properties of hitting times with taboo essentially depend on mutual location of the points x, y, and z. The paper discusses two models of a branching random walk on a many-dimensional lattice with birth and death of particles at a single node being the source of branching. The random walk in the first model is assumed to be symmetric. In the second model an additional parameter is introduced which enables “artificial” intensification of the prevalence of branching or walk at the source and, as the result, violating the symmetry of the random walk. The monotonicity of the return probability into the source is proved for the second model, which is a key property in the analysis of branching random walks.  相似文献

Subcritical catalytic branching random walk on the d-dimensional integer lattice is studied. New theorems concerning the asymptotic behavior of distributions of local particle numbers are established. To prove the results, different approaches are used, including the connection between fractional moments of random variables and fractional derivatives of their Laplace transforms. In the previous papers on this subject only supercritical and critical regimes were investigated under the assumptions of finiteness of the first moment of offspring number and finiteness of the variance of offspring number, respectively. In the present paper, for the offspring number in the subcritical regime, the finiteness of the moment of order 1 + δ is required where δ is some positive number.  相似文献
