We propose a simple parton model interpretation of large anglep?p elastic scattering in terms of elementaryq?q scattering. We formulate the model and give some numerical estimates which qualitatively explain the most important spin effects. We do not assume any particular quark recombination mechanism but we stress the importance of the proton wave function. Comparisons with other models are made.  相似文献

The spin correlation parameters and the analyzing power have been measured in free np elastic scattering at kinetic energies of 260, 315, 380, 460 and 535 MeV in the c.m. angle range from 60° to 164°. The experiment was performed at the Paul-Scherrer-Institut (PSI) using a polarized neutron beam with continuous energy incident on a polarized proton target. We present a measurement of the longitudinal spin asymmetry A(||) in photoproduction of pairs of hadrons with high transverse momentum p(T). Data were accumulated by the HERMES experiment using a 27.5 GeV polarized positron beam and a polarized hydrogen target internal to the HERA storage ring. For h(+)h(-) pairs with p(h(1))(T)>1.5 GeV/c and p(h(2))(T)>1.0 GeV/c, the measured asymmetry is A(||) = -0. 28+/-0.12(stat)+/-0.02(syst). This negative value is in contrast to the positive asymmetries typically measured in deep inelastic scattering from protons, and is interpreted to arise from a positive gluon polarization.  相似文献

Spin polarizabilities are as-yet experimentally unknown fundamental structure constants that describe the response of the nucleon spin to the action of a changing electromagnetic field. The A2 Collaboration at the Institute for Nuclear Physics in Mainz (Institut für Kernphysik, Mainz) performed the first measurements of the energy and angular dependences of spin asymmetries of the cross section for doubly polarized (polarized-photon beam incident to a polarized proton target) Compton effect in the Δ-resonance region, these asymmetries being sensitive to values of the spin polarizabilities. The preparation of spin-asymmetry measurements at energies below the pion-production threshold with an active (scintillating) polarized target is in progress. These measurements will make it possible to determine individual spin polarizabilities of the proton in a model-independent way.  相似文献

We investigate the thermoelectric effects in a spin field-effect transistor with ferromagnetic leads held at different temperatures. The thermopower S and thermoelectric figure of merit ZT oscillate with the increase of the Rashba spin-orbit coupling strength. The oscillation amplitude of ZT decreases with increasing the spin polarization. S and ZT are strongly influenced by the interfacial barrier strength Z, exhibiting a nonmonotonous change with Z. The thermoelectric effects are also manipulated by the magnetization configuration of the ferromagnetic leads. It is expected that the present study of the thermoelectric effects is helpful in the design of thermoelectric devices.  相似文献

We show that temporal shape modulations (pumping) of a quantum dot in the presence of spin-orbital coupling lead to a finite dc spin current. Depending on the strength of the spin-orbit coupling, the spin current is polarized perpendicular to the plane of the two-dimensional electron gas, or has an arbitrary direction subject to mesoscopic fluctuations. We analyze the statistics of the spin and charge currents in the adiabatic limit for the full crossover from weak to strong spin-orbit coupling.  相似文献

The spin polarizabilities of the nucleon are fundamental structure constants which describe the response of the nucleon spin to an incident polarized photon. The most model-independent way to measure the nucleon spin polarizabilities is the Compton scattering with polarization degrees of freedom. Three Compton scattering asymmetries on the proton were measured in the Δ(1232) region using a polarized incident photon beam and a polarized (or unpolarized) proton target at the Mainz Microtron (MAMI). These asymmetries are sensitive to values of the spin polarizabilities. Fits to asymmetry data were performed using a dispersion model calculation, and a separation of all four proton spin-polarizabilities in the multipole basis was achieved. The values of the proton spin polarizabilities are presented.  相似文献

We consider electron spin qubits in quantum dots and define a measurement efficiency e to characterize reliable measurements via n-shot readouts. We propose various implementations based on a double dot and a quantum point contact (QPC) and show that the associated efficiencies e vary between 50% and 100%, allowing single-shot readout in the latter case. We model the readout microscopically and derive its time dynamics in terms of a generalized master equation, calculate the QPC current, and show that it allows spin readout under realistic conditions.  相似文献

We consider double spin asymmetries for longitudinally polarized leptons and transversely polarized protons in diffractive vector meson and production at high energies within the two-gluon model. The connection of the two-gluon approach with skewed gluon distributions is discussed. The asymmetry predicted for meson production is quite small. The asymmetry for production contains two independent terms which are large and can be used to obtain information on the polarized skewed gluon distributions in the proton. We investigate a squeezed thermal spin state of nonlinear spin waves in Heisenberg ferromagnets. In this state, the magnon system possesses a new kind of quasiparticle, the dressed magnon, whose mass is a monotonically decreasing function of temperature. The noise of one spin component in the squeezed thermal spin state can be below the noise level in the vacuum state. The magnon system undergoes a first-order phase transition from the normal state to the squeezed thermal spin state. The critical temperature is much lower than the Curie temperature. A possible detection scheme based on a polarized neutron-scattering technique is suggested.  相似文献

The static (electric and magnetic) polarizabilities of the proton are known from measurements of low-energy Compton scattering of real photons. However, no experimental data are so far available about its spin polarizabilities, which describe the response of the proton spin to a varying electromagnetic field. These fundamental structure constants can be obtained in the most model-independent way from measurements of double-polarized Compton scattering at energies below the pion threshold using a polarized photon beam and a polarized proton target. An active polarized target based on polystyrene doped with a scintillator allows recoil protons to be detected directly in the target material, background from the coherent Compton effect on heavier nuclei (12C etc.) to be eliminated and precise data on spin polarizabilities to be obtained.  相似文献

We consider intrinsic contributions to the spin Hall and spin Nernst effects in a bilayer graphene. The relevant electronic spectrum is obtained from the tight binding Hamiltonian, which also includes the intrinsic spin-orbit interaction. The corresponding spin Hall and spin Nernst conductivities are compared with those obtained from effective low-energy k ?p and reduced Hamiltonians, which are appropriate for states in the vicinity of the Fermi level of a neutral bilayer graphene. Both conductivities are determined within the linear response theory and Green function formalism. The influence of an external voltage between the two atomic sheets is also considered. The results reveal a transition from the topological spin Hall insulator phase at low voltages to conventional insulator phase at larger voltages.  相似文献
