Fq-linear codes over Fq-algebras

Huffman (2013) [12] studied ${\mathbb{F}}_q$-linear codes over ${\mathbb{F}}_{q^m}$ and he proved the MacWilliams identity for these codes with respect to ordinary and Hermitian trace inner products. Let S be a finite commutative ${\mathbb{F}}_q$-algebra. An ${\mathbb{F}}_q$-linear code over S of length n is an ${\mathbb{F}}_q$-submodule of $S^n$. In this paper, we study ${\mathbb{F}}_q$-linear codes over S. We obtain some bounds on minimum distance of these codes, and some large classes of MDR codes are introduced. We generalize the ordinary and Hermitian trace products over ${\mathbb{F}}_q$-algebras and we prove the MacWilliams identity with respect to the generalized form. In particular, we obtain Huffman's results on the MacWilliams identity. Among other results, we give a theory to construct a class of quantum codes and the structure of ${\mathbb{F}}_q$-linear codes over finite commutative graded ${\mathbb{F}}_q$-algebras.     

Hyperplane sections of determinantal varieties over finite fields and linear codes

We determine the number of ${\mathbb{F}}_q$-rational points of hyperplane sections of classical determinantal varieties defined by the vanishing of minors of a fixed size of a generic matrix, and identify the hyperplane sections giving the maximum number of ${\mathbb{F}}_q$-rational points. Further we consider similar questions for sections by linear subvarieties of a fixed codimension in the ambient projective space. This is closely related to the study of linear codes associated to determinantal varieties, and the determination of their weight distribution, minimum distance, and generalized Hamming weights. The previously known results about these are generalized and expanded significantly. Connections to eigenvalues of certain association schemes, distance regular graphs, and rank metric codes are also indicated.     

Construction and enumeration of left dihedral codes satisfying certain duality properties

Let ${\mathbb{F}}_q$ be the finite field of q elements and let $D_{2n}=〈x,y|x^n=1,y^2=1,yxy=x^{n?1}〉$ be the dihedral group of 2n elements. Left ideals of the group algebra ${\mathbb{F}}_q[D_{2n}]$ are known as left dihedral codes over ${\mathbb{F}}_q$ of length 2n, and abbreviated as left $D_{2n}$-codes. Let $\gcd (n,q)=1$. In this paper, we give an explicit representation for the Euclidean hull of every left $D_{2n}$-code over ${\mathbb{F}}_q$. On this basis, we determine all distinct Euclidean LCD codes and Euclidean self-orthogonal codes which are left $D_{2n}$-codes over ${\mathbb{F}}_q$. In particular, we provide an explicit representation and a precise enumeration for these two subclasses of left $D_{2n}$-codes and self-dual left $D_{2n}$-codes, respectively. Moreover, we give a direct and simple method for determining the encoder (generator matrix) of any left $D_{2n}$-code over ${\mathbb{F}}_q$, and present several numerical examples to illustrative our applications.     

Weight distributions of generalized quasi-cyclic codes over Fq+uFq

In this paper, by Gauss sums, we determine Hamming weight distributions of generalized quasi-cyclic (GQC) codes over the finite chain ring ${\mathbb{F}}_q+u{\mathbb{F}}_q$, where $u^2=0$. As applications, some new infinite families of minimal linear codes with $\frac{W_{\min }}{W_{\max }}\le \frac{q-1}{q}$ and projective two-weight codes are constructed.     

An altered four circulant construction for self-dual codes from group rings and new extremal binary self-dual codes I

We introduce an altered version of the four circulant construction over group rings for self-dual codes. We consider this construction over the binary field, the rings ${\mathbb{F}}_2+u{\mathbb{F}}_2$ and ${\mathbb{F}}_4+u{\mathbb{F}}_4$; using groups of order 4 and 8. Through these constructions and their extensions, we find binary self-dual codes of lengths 16, 32, 48, 64 and 68, many of which are extremal. In particular, we find forty new extremal binary self-dual codes of length 68, including twelve new codes with $\gamma =5$ in $W_{68,2}$, which is the first instance of such a $\gamma$ value in the literature.
