One of the basic inverse problems in an anisotropic media is the determination of coefficients in a bounded domain with a single measurement. We consider the problem of finding the coefficient of the second derivatives in a second-order hyperbolic equation with variable coefficients.

Under a weak regularity assumption and a geometrical condition on the metric, we prove the uniqueness in a multidimensional hyperbolic inverse problem with a single measurement. Moreover we show that our uniqueness results yield the Lipschitz stability estimate in L 2 space for solution to the inverse problem under consideration.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the asymptotic stability of the exact boundary controllability of nodal profile for 1D quasi-linear wave equations. First, for 1D quasi-linear hyperbolic systems with zero eigenvalues, we establish the existence and uniqueness of semiglobal classical solution to the one-sided mixed initial-boundary value problem on a semibounded initial axis and discuss the asymptotic behavior of the corresponding solutions under different hypotheses on the initial data. Based on these results, we obtain the asymptotic stability of the exact boundary controllability of nodal profile for 1D quasi-linear wave equations on a semibounded time interval.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the reconstruction of the conductivity coefficient for a nonautonomous hyperbolic operator an infinite cylindrical domain. Applying a local Carleman estimate, we prove the uniqueness and a Hölder stability in the determination of the conductivity using a single measurement data on the lateral boundary. Our numerical examples show good reconstruction of the location and contrast of the conductivity function in 3 dimensions.  相似文献

A mathematical model of wave propagation in magneto-electro-elastic materials is obtained in the form of a symmetric hyperbolic system of the first-order partial differential equations. This model is a result of the qualitative analysis of the coupled time-dependent Maxwell’s equations and equations of elastodynamics which are considered together with constitutive relations in non-homogeneous anisotropic magneto-electro-elastic materials. Applying the theory and methods of symmetric hyperbolic systems, we have proved that the reported model of wave propagation in magneto-electro-elastic materials satisfies the Hadamards correctness requirements: solvability, uniqueness and stability with respect to perturbation of data.  相似文献

We prove a result of uniqueness of the entropy weak solution to the Cauchy problem for a class of nonlinear hyperbolic systems of conservation laws that includes in particular the p-system of isentropic gas dynamics. Our result concerns weak solutions satisfying the, as we call it, Wave Entropy Condition, or WEC for short, introduced in this paper. The main feature of this condition is that it concerns both shock waves and rarefaction waves present in a solution. For the proof of uniqueness, we derive an existence result (respectively a uniqueness result) for the backward (respectively forward) adjoint problem associated with the nonlinear system. Our method also applies to obtain results of existence or uniqueness for some linear hyperbolic systems with discontinuous coefficients. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

We study the stability of stationary transonic shock fronts under two-dimensional perturbation in gas dynamics. The motion of the gas is described by the full Euler system. The system is hyperbolic ahead of the shock front, and is a hyperbolic-elliptic composed system behind the shock front. The stability of the shock front and the downstream flow under two-dimensional perturbation of the upstream flow can be reduced to a free boundary value problem of the hyperbolic-elliptic composed system. We develop a method to deal with boundary value problems for such systems. The crucial point is to decompose the system to a canonical form, in which the hyperbolic part and the elliptic part are only weakly coupled in their coefficients. By several sophisticated iterative processes we establish the existence and uniqueness of the solution to the described free boundary value problem. Our result indicates the stability of the transonic shock front and the flow field behind the shock.

This paper is a sequel to [2]. A two parameter family of explicit and implicit schemes is constructed for the numerical solution of the degenerate hyperbolic equations of second order. We prove the existence and the uniqueness of the solutions of these schemes. Furthermore, we prove that these schemes are stable for the initial values and that the numerical solution is convergent to the unique generalized solution of the partial differential equation.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the first initial boundary-value problem for an evolutionary system describing nonlinear interactions of electromagnetic and elastic waves. The system under study consists of three coupled differential equations, one of them is a hyperbolic equation (an analogue of the Lamé equations) and the other two equations form a parabolic system (an analogue of the diffusion Maxwell system). We discuss an inverse problem of determining a coefficient matrix and an initial value for a one‐dimensional non‐symmetric hyperbolic system of the first order by means of boundary values over a time interval. Provided that a time interval is sufficiently long and a given initial value satisfies some non‐degeneracy condition, we characterize coefficient matrices and initial values realizing the same boundary values. In the case where the initial value is fixed, we can prove the uniqueness in determining all the components of the coefficient matrices. We study the well-posedness of a system of one-dimensional partial differential equations modeling blood flows in a network of vessels with viscoelastic walls. We prove the existence and uniqueness of maximal strong solution for this type of hyperbolic/parabolic model. In this paper, the mixed initial-boundary value problem for inhomogeneous quasilinear strictly hyperbolic systems with nonlinear boundary conditions in the first quadrant {(t, x): t ? 0, x ? 0} is investigated. Under the assumption that the right-hand side satisfies a matching condition and the system is strictly hyperbolic and weakly linearly degenerate, we obtain the global existence and uniqueness of a C 1 solution and its L 1 stability with certain small initial and boundary data.  相似文献

We study a problem in stochastic functional differential equations which, in addition to a standard one-one-parameter noise term involves a random perturbation of the memory. This problem can also be regarded as a first order hyperbolic system of stochastic partial differential equations with given initial data and nonlocal boundary data. Existence and uniqueness of a solution is established and the generator of the associated Markov process is analyzed. Thereafter, for two model problems arising from first- and second-order integro-differential equations suggested by physical applications we establish asymptotic stability in probability of the associated stochastic processes.  相似文献
