We investigate the one-dimensional cutting-stock problem integrated with the lot-sizing problem in the context of paper industries. The production process in paper mill industries consists of producing raw materials characterized by rolls of paper and cutting them into smaller rolls according to customer requirements. Typically, both problems are dealt with in sequence, but if the decisions concerning the cutting patterns and the production of rolls are made together, it can result in better resource management. We investigate Dantzig–Wolfe decompositions and develop column generation techniques to obtain upper and lower bounds for the integrated problem. First, we analyze the classical column generation method for the cutting-stock problem embedded in the integrated problem. Second, we propose the machine decomposition that is compared with the classical period decomposition for the lot-sizing problem. The machine decomposition model and the period decomposition model provide the same lower bound, which is recognized as being better than the linear relaxation of the classical lot-sizing model. To obtain feasible solutions, a rounding heuristic is applied after the column generation method. In addition, we propose a method that combines an adaptive large neighborhood search and column generation method, which is performed on the machine decomposition model. We carried out computational experiments on instances from the literature and on instances adapted from real-world data. The rounding heuristic applied to the first column generation method and the adaptive large neighborhood search combined with the column generation method are efficient and competitive.  相似文献

In this paper we derive the probability distribution of trial points in the differential evolution (de) algorithm, in particular the probability distribution of points generated by mutation. We propose a point generation scheme that uses an approximation to this distribution. The scheme can dispense with the differential vector used in the mutation of de. We propose a de algorithm that replaces the differential based mutation scheme with a probability distribution based point generation scheme. We also propose a de algorithm that uses a probabilistic combination of the point generation by the probability distribution and the point generation by mutation. A numerical study is carried out using a set of 50 test problems, many of which are inspired by practical applications. Numerical results suggest that the new algorithms are superior to the original version both in terms of the number of function evaluations and cpu times.  相似文献

The routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) problem typically occurs in wavelength division multiplexing optical networks. Given a number of available wavelengths, we consider here the problem of maximising the number of accepted connections with respect to the clash and continuity constraints. We first propose a new strategy which combines two existing models. This leads to an improved column generation scheme. We also present two heuristics to compute feasible solutions: a hybrid heuristic and the integer solution at the root node of the column generation. Our approaches are compared with the best existing results on a set of classic RWA instances.  相似文献

Given an undirected graph with edge costs and both revenues and weights on the vertices, the traveling salesman subtour problem is to find a subtour that includes a depot vertex, satisfies a knapsack constraint on the vertex weights, and that minimizes edge costs minus vertex revenues along the subtour.We propose a decomposition scheme for this problem. It is inspired by the classic side-constrained 1-tree formulation of the traveling salesman problem, and uses stabilized column generation for the solution of the linear programming relaxation. Further, this decomposition procedure is combined with the addition of variable upper bound (VUB) constraints, which improves the linear programming bound. Furthermore, we present a heuristic procedure for finding feasible subtours from solutions to the column generation problems. An extensive experimental analysis of the behavior of the computational scheme is presented.  相似文献

We consider the time slot assignment problem (TSAP) in a cluster of satellite-switched time-division multiple-access (SS/TDMA) satellite system with intersatellite links (ISL). The problem is known to be NP-complete. In this paper, we consider TSAP as a graph coloring problem on a bipartite multigraph which is constructed from the traffic requirements. We give an integer programming (IP) model for TSAP and propose an algorithm based on the column generation technique. Computational results using randomly generated data are reported.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a heuristic method for resource constrained project scheduling problem with fuzzy activity times. This method is based on priority rule for parallel schedule generation scheme. Calculation of critical path in this case requires comparison of fuzzy numbers. Distance based ranking of fuzzy number is used for finding the critical path length and concept of shifting criticality is proposed for some of the special cases. We also propose a measure for finding the non-integer power of a fuzzy number. We discuss some properties of the proposed method. We use an example to illustrate the method.  相似文献

In this paper we propose the integration of column generation in the revised normal boundary intersection (RNBI) approach to compute a representative set of non-dominated points for multi-objective linear programmes (MOLPs). The RNBI approach solves single objective linear programmes, the RNBI subproblems, to project a set of evenly distributed reference points to the non-dominated set of an MOLP. We solve each RNBI subproblem using column generation, which moves the current point in objective space of the MOLP towards the non-dominated set. Since RNBI subproblems may be infeasible, we attempt to detect this infeasibility early. First, a reference point bounding method is proposed to eliminate reference points that lead to infeasible RNBI subproblems. Furthermore, different initialisation approaches for column generation are implemented, including Farkas pricing. We investigate the quality of the representation obtained. To demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed approach, we apply it to an MOLP arising in radiotherapy treatment design. In contrast to conventional optimisation approaches, treatment design using column generation provides deliverable treatment plans, avoiding a segmentation step which deteriorates treatment quality. As a result total monitor units is considerably reduced. We also note that reference point bounding dramatically reduces the number of RNBI subproblems that need to be solved.  相似文献

We propose an exact lexicographic dynamic programming pricing algorithm for solving the Fractional Bin Packing Problem with column generation. The new algorithm is designed for generating maximal columns of minimum reduced cost which maximize, lexicographically, one of the measures of maximality we investigate. Extensive computational experiments reveal that a column generation algorithm based on this pricing technique can achieve a substantial reduction in the number of columns and the computing time, also when combined with a classical smoothing technique from the literature.  相似文献

For the past few years, the increase in high bandwidth requiring services forced telecommunication operators like France Telecom - Orange to engage the deployment of optical networks, the Fiber To The Home Gigabit Passive Optical Network (FTTH GPON) technology, leading to new design problems. Such problems have already been studied. However, to the best of our knowledge, without taking into account the future demand uncertainty. In this paper, we propose a model for a two-stage robust optimization FTTH network design problem tackling the demand uncertainty. In this paper, we deal with a vegetable crop supply problem with two main particularities: (i) the production must respect certain ecologically-based constraints and (ii) harvested crops can be stocked but only for a limited period of time, given that they are perishable. To model these characteristics, we develop a linear formulation in which each variable is associated to a crop rotation plan. This model contains a very large number of variables and is therefore solved with the aid of a column generation approach. Moreover, we also propose a two-stage stochastic programming with recourse model which takes into consideration that information on the demands might be uncertain. We provide a discussion of the results obtained via computational tests run on instances adapted from real-world data.  相似文献

Generalized signcryption can adaptively work as an encryption scheme, a signature scheme or a signcryption scheme with only one algorithm. It is very suitable for storage-constrained environments. In this paper, we introduce a formal security model for certificateless generalized signcryption schemes secure against the malicious-but-passive key generation center attacks and propose a novel scheme. Our scheme is proved to be IND-CCA2 secure under the GBDH assumption and CDH assumption and existentially unforgeable under the GDH’ assumption and CDH assumption in random oracle model. Furthermore, performance analysis shows the proposed scheme is efficient and practical.  相似文献

In this paper we use a boundary integral method with single layer potentials to solve a class of Helmholtz transmission problems in the plane. We propose and analyze a novel and very simple quadrature method to solve numerically the equivalent system of integral equations which provides an approximation of the solution of the original problem with linear convergence (quadratic in some special cases). Furthermore, we also investigate a modified quadrature approximation based on the ideas of qualocation methods. This new scheme is again extremely simple to implement and has order three in weak norms.   相似文献

This paper reports on our attempt to design an efficient exact algorithm based on column generation for the cutting stock problem. The main focus of the research is to study the extend to which standard branch-and-bound enhancement features such as variable fixing, the tightening of the formulation with cutting planes, early branching, and rounding heuristics can be usefully incorporated in a branch-and-price algorithm. We review and compare lower bounds for the cutting stock problem. We propose a pseudo-polynomial heuristic. We discuss the implementation of the important features of the integer programming column generation algorithm and, in particular, the implementation of the branching scheme. Our computational results demonstrate the efficiency of the resulting algorithm for various classes of bin packing and cutting stock problems. This paper addresses the Patient Admission Scheduling (PAS) problem. The PAS problem entails assigning elective patients to beds, while satisfying a number of hard constraints and as many soft constraints as is possible, and arises at all planning levels for hospital management. There exist a few, different variants of this problem. In this paper we consider one such variant and propose an optimization-based heuristic building on branch-and-bound, column generation, and dynamic constraint aggregation to solve it. We achieve tighter lower bounds than previously reported in the literature and, in addition, we are able to produce new best known solutions for five out of twelve instances from a publicly available repository.  相似文献

This paper investigates the computational tractability of aircraft sequencing problems over multiple runways under mixed mode operations, contrasting an enhanced mixed-integer programme (MIP) and an accelerated column generation approach. First, we examine the benefit of augmenting a base MIP with valid inequalities, preprocessing routines, and symmetry-defeating hierarchical constraints in order to improve the performance of branch-and-bound (B&B)/cut techniques as implemented in commercial solvers. Second, we alternatively reformulate the problem as a set partitioning model that prompts the development of a specialized column generation approach. The latter is accelerated by incorporating an interior point dual stabilization scheme and a complementary column generation routine. Empirical results using a set of new, computationally challenging instances and classical instances in the OR Library reveal the potential and limitations of the two methodologies.  相似文献

In this paper we propose two time-indexed IP formulations for job-shop scheduling problems with a min-sum objective. The first model has variables associated to job scheduling patterns. The exponential number of variables calls for a column generation scheme which is carried out by a dynamic programming procedure. The second model is of network flow type with side constraints. This model can be strengthened by adding cutting inequalities of clique type. It turns out that the two models are equivalent, since the dual of the second formulation is equivalent to the compact dual of the first model. However, they require significantly different solution approaches and may behave differently in terms of computing time and memory usage. Good upper bounds are found by a heuristic procedure that randomly generates schedules from fractional solutions. These features allow for an effective pruning of the branch-and-bound tree and narrowing the gap between lower and upper bounds. However, the size of both models is critically affected by the time-indexed formulation which may heavily slow down the computation.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a two-echelon capacitated electric vehicle routing problem with battery swapping stations (2E-EVRP-BSS), which aims to determine the delivery strategy under battery driving range limitations for city logistics. The electric vehicles operating in the different echelons have different load capacities, battery driving ranges, power consumption rates, and battery swapping costs. We propose an integer programming formulation and a hybrid algorithm that combines a column generation and an adaptive large neighborhood search (CG-ALNS) to solve the problem. We conducted extensive computational experiments, demonstrate the applicability of the proposed model, and show the efficiency of the CG-ALNS algorithm. In addition, we explore the interplay between battery driving range and the effectiveness of vehicle emission reduction through sensitivity analysis.  相似文献
