We prove that the e-variety CR(H), of all completely regular semigroups whose subgroups belong to some group variety H, is e-local; that is, every regular, locally completely regular semigroupoid [with subgroups fromH] divides a completely regular semigroup [with subgroups from H], in a ‘regular’ way. In a future paper with P.G. Trotter, this theorem will be applied to semidirect products of e-varieties and to e-free E-solid regular semigroups. A key role in the proof is played by the e-free semigroups in the e-variety CR(H). We provide a solution to the ‘word problem’ in these semigroups, in the style of that for free completely regular semigroups given by Kadourek and Polàk. The solution is derived from the author's work on free products of completely regular semigroups. Communicated by F. D. Happel, I. Reiten and S. Smalø initiated an investigation of quasitilted artin -algebras that are the endomorphism rings of tilting objects in hereditary abelian categories whose Hom and Ext groups are all finitely generated over a commutative artinian ring . Here, employing a notion of -objects, tilting objects in arbitrary abelian categories are defined and are shown to yield a version of the classical tilting theorem between the category and the category of modules over their endomorphism rings. This leads to a module theoretic notion of quasitilted rings and their characterization as endomorphism rings of tilting objects in hereditary cocomplete abelian categories.

Let R be a ring equipped with an automorphism α and an α-derivation δ. We studied on the relationship between the quasi Baerness and (α, δ)-quasi Baerness of a ring R and these of the inverse skew Laurent series ring R((x?1; α, δ)), in case R is an (α, δ)-weakly rigid ring. Also we proved that for a semicommutative (α, δ)-weakly rigid ring R, R is Baer if and only if so is R((x?1; α, δ)). Moreover for an (α, δ)-weakly rigid ring R, it is shown that the inverse skew Laurent series ring R((x?1; α, δ)) is left p.q.-Baer if and only if R is left p.q.-Baer and every countable subset of left semicentral idempotents of R has a generalized countable join in R.  相似文献

In this article we study the existence of range projections in rings with involution, relating it to the existence of the Moore-Penrose inverse. The results are applied to the solution of the equation xbx = x in rings with involution, extending the results of Greville for matrices. Simpler new proofs are given of the Moore-Penrose invertibility of regular elements in rings with involution, and of the Ljance's formula.  相似文献

A ring R is called a right PS-ring if its socle, Soc(R R ), is projective. Nicholson and Watters have shown that if R is a right PS-ring, then so are the polynomial ring R[x] and power series ring R[[x]]. In this paper, it is proved that, under suitable conditions, if R has a (flat) projective socle, then so does the skew inverse power series ring R[[x ?1; α, δ]] and the skew polynomial ring R[x; α, δ], where R is an associative ring equipped with an automorphism α and an α-derivation δ. Our results extend and unify many existing results. Examples to illustrate and delimit the theory are provided.  相似文献

We investigate the distribution of where

Exponential sums provide a natural tool for obtaining upper bounds on this quantity. Here we use results about the distribution of integers with a divisor in a given interval to obtain lower bounds on . We also present some heuristic arguments showing that these lower bounds are probably tight, and thus our technique can be a more appropriate tool to study than a more traditional way using exponential sums.

We present some equivalent conditions of the reverse order law for the Moore-Penrose inverse in rings with involution, extending some well-known results to more general settings. Then we apply this result to obtain a set of equivalent conditions to the reverse order rule for the weighted Moore-Penrose inverse in C-algebras.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative ring with identity. The multiplicatively closed sets U2={fR[X]: c(f)–1=R}, (U2)={fU2: f is regular} and S={fR[X]: c(f)=R} are studied. By considering various equalities between these sets, many characterizations of Noetherian rings are found. In particular, a Noetherian ring R has depth 1 if and only if S=(U2): and each maximal ideal of a Noetherian ring is regular if and only if U2=(U2).The theory of Prüfer v-multiplication rings (PVMR's) is developed for rings with zero divisors. Six equivalent conditions are given to the statement that an additively regular v-ring R is a PVMR.  相似文献

We characterize the exchange property for non-unital rings in terms of their local rings at elements, and we use this characterization to show that the exchange property is Morita invariant for idempotent rings. We also prove that every ring contains a greatest exchange idela(with respect to the inclusion).  相似文献
