The purpose of this Letter is to propose a method for controlling electron currents on quantum dots driven by an oscillating electric field. The effects of nonadiabatic transition on time-averaged currents are theoretically studied in dot systems where energy levels exhibit a double crossing within one period of the driving field. The current is enhanced or suppressed as a result of the constructive or destructive interference between different transition paths at a double crossing. The current also depends on the number of dots because of the presence of dot-lead coupling.  相似文献

We consider different configurations of ac driven quantum dots coupled to superconductor leads where Majorana fermions can exist as collective quasiparticles. The main goal is to tune the existence, localization and properties of these zero energy quasiparticles by means of periodically driven external gates. In particular, we analyze the relevance of the system and driving symmetry. We predict the existence of different sweet spots with Floquet Majorana fermions in configurations where they are not present in the undriven system.  相似文献

We developed semiclassical method and show that any smooth potential in graphene describing elongated a quantum dot or wire may behave as a barrier or as a trapping well or as a double barrier potential, Fabry–Perot structure, for 1D Schrödinger equation. The energy spectrum of quantum wires has been found and compared with numerical simulations. We found that there are two types of localized states, stable and metastable, having finite life time. These life times are calculated, as is the form of the localized wave functions which are exponentially decaying away from the wire in the perpendicular direction.  相似文献

We consider a periodically driven bistable system in the presence of fluctuations. In a number of recent papers it has been shown that the amplitude of the response of the noisy system to periodic modulations exhibits stochastic resonance, i.e. a resonance-like behavior as a function of the noise intensity. In this paper, we consider the phase shift between the response and the periodic driving. For weak periodic driving, the phase shift also shows a resonance like behaviour as a function of the noise strength, but this effect is shown to be of different origin than the one responsible for stochastic resonance. Furthermore, the phase shift is demonstrated to exhibit a resonance-like behavior as a function of the driving frequency.  相似文献

Using a dynamical model relevant to cold-atom experiments, we show that long-lasting exponential spreading of wave packets in momentum space is possible. Numerical results are explained via a pseudoclassical map, both qualitatively and quantitatively. Possible applications of our findings are also briefly discussed.  相似文献

The emergence of half-integer filling-factor states, such as upsilon=5/2 and 7/2, is found in quantum dots by using numerical many-electron methods. These states have interesting similarities and differences with their counterstates found in the two-dimensional electron gas. The upsilon=1/2 states in quantum dots are shown to have high overlaps with the composite fermion states. The lower overlap of the Pfaffian state indicates that electrons might not be paired in quantum dot geometry. The predicted upsilon=5/2 state has a high spin polarization, which may have an impact on the spin transport through quantum dot devices.  相似文献

The dynamics of photocreated excitons in a CdZnO/MgZnO quantum well (QW) was studied by comparing the experimental photoluminescence (PL) data with the results of Monte Carlo simulations of the exciton hopping. The temperature-dependent PL linewidth was found to be in reasonable agreement with the model of exciton hopping, with an additional inhomogeneous broadening (Γ) accounted for. The simulation analysis revealed fluctuations of the band potential to be 20 meV with an additional inhomogeneous broadening of , and a crossover from a non-thermalized to thermalized exciton energy distribution at about 100 K. In addition, a Bose–Einstein distribution like temperature dependence of the exciton energy in the wells was extracted using the data on the PL peak position.  相似文献

Photomediated force between quantum dots (QDs) is theoretically studied. An attractive (repulsive) interparticle radiation force (IRF) arises by selectively exciting the lower (higher) split state of coupled polaritons in QDs. Since these states are analogous to bonding and antibonding states of a diatomic molecule, we term this system the "polaritonic molecule (PM)". IRF in PM states is controlled by the photon energy, polarization, and phase at each QD. This mechanism can be used to probe internal quantum properties of nano-objects and to manipulate collective dynamics of QDs.  相似文献

We give a general overview of the high-frequency regime in periodically driven systems and identify three distinct classes of driving protocols in which the infinite-frequency Floquet Hamiltonian is not equal to the time-averaged Hamiltonian. These classes cover systems, such as the Kapitza pendulum, the Harper–Hofstadter model of neutral atoms in a magnetic field, the Haldane Floquet Chern insulator and others. In all setups considered, we discuss both the infinite-frequency limit and the leading finite-frequency corrections to the Floquet Hamiltonian. We provide a short overview of Floquet theory focusing on the gauge structure associated with the choice of stroboscopic frame and the differences between stroboscopic and non-stroboscopic dynamics. In the latter case, one has to work with dressed operators representing observables and a dressed density matrix. We also comment on the application of Floquet Theory to systems described by static Hamiltonians with well-separated energy scales and, in particular, discuss parallels between the inverse-frequency expansion and the Schrieffer–Wolff transformation extending the latter to driven systems.  相似文献

By embedding a layer of self-assembled quantum dots into a field-effect structure, we are able to control the exciton charge in a single dot. We present the results of photoluminescence experiments as a function of both charge and magnetic field. The results demonstrate a hierarchy of energy scales determined by quantization, the direct Coulomb interaction, the electron–electron exchange interaction, and the electron–hole exchange interaction. For excitons up to the triply charged exciton, the behavior can be understood from a model assuming discrete levels within the quantum dot. For the triply charged exciton, this is no longer the case. In a magnetic field, we discover a coherent interaction with the continuum states, the Landau levels associated with the wetting layer.  相似文献

The principle of ergodicity of the quantum theory has been used for elaboration of a new technique for numerical simulation of the Wigner function of open dissipative quantum systems. With this purpose the density matrix of a quantum system is represented via averaging over the ensemble of quantum states in time intervals instead of averaging over the ensemble of stochastic variables. It is shown that this approach leads to new approximate expressions for quantum distributions in the phase space, in particular, Wigner functions for systems localized in the region of classical phase trajectories. As an application, the Wigner functions are calculated for the process of intracavity second harmonic generation in the region of Hopf bifurcations.  相似文献

Photoluminescence and excitation of photoluminescence spectroscopy have been performed for two kinds of single InAs self-assembled quantum dots grown on GaAs. The presence of unintentional impurities (donors and acceptors) offers the possibility to switch from negative to positively charged excitons by selectively exciting impurity related optical transitions.  相似文献

By means of a general method for treating mesoscopic systems with strong internal correlations, transport properties through a set of quasi-degenerate transitions in the interacting region, or active element (AE), are considered. It is shown that the behaviour of the AE drastically changes as the couplings to the contacts are varied from the strong to the weak coupling limit. These changes strongly influence the transport properties of the system, from a single increase of the current to a staircase form with unequally large steps. In the present study, kinematic interactions, non-equilibrium populations numbers and dependence on the bias voltage has been included in the treatment of the local properties of the AE. Analytical results for the equilibrium situation are presented as well as a derivation of the corresponding non-equilibrium quantities. Results from self-consistent numerical calculations of the considered case are presented.  相似文献
