The scattering of acoustic waves by an elastic sphere in a shallow ocean wave guide is investigated taking into account the shear waves which can exist in addition to compressional waves in scatterers of solid material. Expressions for the scattered waves are given. Numerical values for a quantity called the farfield form function for various depth are presented in graphical forms.   相似文献

A group G is trifactorized if GABACBC with three subgroups A, B and C of G. Some structural theorems about trifactorized locally finite groups with minimum condition on p-subgroups for every prime p are proved. For instance, it is shown that G is locally supersoluble (locally nilpotent) if A and B are locally nilpotent and C is locally supersoluble (locally nilpotent). We study existence and possible uniqueness of special semihypergroups of type U on the right. In particular, we prove that there exists a unique proper semihypergroup of this kind having order 6, apart of isomorphisms; the least order for a hypergroup of type U on the right to have a stable part which is not a subhypergroup is 9; and the minimal cardinality of a proper semihypergroup of that kind whose heart and derived semihypergroup are proper and nontrivial is 12. Contextually, we analyze properties of the kernel of homomorphisms g : HG, where H is a finite semihypergroup of type U on the right and G is a group. In this way, we obtain results that are immediately applicable both to the heart and to the derived of such semihypergroups.   相似文献

We prove that the so-called Smoluchowski-Kramers approximation holds for a class of partial differential equations perturbed by a non-Gaussian noisy term. Namely, we show that the solution of the one-dimensional semi-linear stochastic damped wave equations , u(0) = u0, ut (0) = v0, endowed with Dirichlet boundary conditions, converges as the parameter μ goes to zero to the solution of the semi-linear stochastic heat equation , u(0) = u0, endowed with Dirichlet boundary conditions. Using continuation methods and bifurcation theory, we study the exact multiplicity of periodic solutions, and the global solution structure, for a class of periodically forced pendulum-like equations. Our results apply also to the first order equations. We also show that by choosing a forcing term, one can produce periodic solutions with any number of Fourier coefficients arbitrarily prescribed.  相似文献

Starting from the question when all irreducible p-Brauer characters for a symmetric or an alternating group are of p-power degree, we classify the p-modular irreducible representations of p-power dimension in some families of representations for these groups. Summary.  A real-valued function f defined on an open convex set is called (d, t)-convex if it satisfies
for all , where is a given function and t ]0, 1[ is a fixed parameter. The main result of the paper states that if f is locally bounded from above at a point of D and (d, t)-convex then it satisfies the convexity-type inequality (under some assumptions)

The main result of this paper offers a generalization of the celebrated Bernstein and Doetsch theorem and the recent results by Nikodem and Ng, Páles and the author. Champs affines     
The purpose of this work is to introduce a notion of affine stacks, which is a homotopy version of the notion of affine schemes, and to give several applications in the context of algebraic topology and algebraic geometry. As a first application we show how affine stacks can be used in order to give a new point of view (and new proofs) on rational and p-adic homotopy theory. This gives a first solution to A. Grothendieck’s schematization problem described in [18]. We also use affine stacks in order to introduce a notion of schematic homotopy types. We show that schematic homotopy types give a second solution to the schematization problem, which also allows us to go beyond rational and p-adic homotopy theory for spaces with arbitrary fundamental groups. The notion of schematic homotopy types is also used in order to construct various homotopy types of algebraic varieties corresponding to various co-homology theories (Betti, de Rham, l-adic, ...), extending the well known constructions of the various fundamental groups. Finally, just as algebraic stacks are obtained by gluing affine schemes we define $$ \infty $$-geometric stacks as a certain gluing of affine stacks. Examples of $$ \infty $$-geometric stacks in the context of algebraic topology (moduli spaces of dga structures up to quasi-isomorphisms) and Hodge theory (non-abelian periods) are given.  相似文献

If the order of CG(A) is coprime to the number of orbits of A in G, then CG(A) is contained in the autocommutator subgroup [G, A]. The paper is devoted to the presentation of Leray’s approach to the Cauchy problem for strictly hyperbolic operators. In the first section we give the main definitions of strictly hyperbolic operators and separating operators corresponding to them. We present the plan of derivation of the a priori estimates necessary for the proof of solvability of the Cauchy problem. In the second section we generalize the Leray approach to some classes of PDO which are not hyperbolic.  相似文献

In the last case, it is showed that the relation between the quantities p and N/2 plays a crucial role, pointing out a deep difference with respect to the ordinary case. In the proof, the best constants are obtained by using a related variational problem and Lagrange multiplier theorem. Finally, the linear results are combined with Schauder fixed point theorem in the study of resonant nonlinear problems. Let H be a subgroup of a finite group G, and assume that p is a prime that does not divide |G : H|. In favorable circumstances, one can use transfer theory to deduce that the largest abelian p-groups that occur as factor groups of G and of H are isomorphic. When this happens, Tate’s theorem guarantees that the largest not-necessarily-abelian p-groups that occur as factor groups of G and H are isomorphic. Known proofs of Tate’s theorem involve cohomology or character theory, but in this paper, a new elementary proof is given. It is also shown that the largest abelian p-factor group of G is always isomorphic to a direct factor of the largest abelian p-factor group of H. Received: 17 June 2008  相似文献

Math search is a new area of research with many enabling technologies but also many challenges. Some of the enabling technologies include XML, XPath, XQuery, and MathML. Some of the challenges involve enabling search systems to recognize mathematical symbols and structures. Several math search projects have made considerable progress in meeting those challenges. One of the remaining challenges is the creation and implementation of a math query language that enables the general users to express their information needs intuitively yet precisely. This paper will present such a language and detail its features. The new math query language offers an alternative way to describe mathematical expressions that is more consistent and less ambiguous than conventional mathematical notation. In addition, the language goes beyond the Boolean and proximity query syntax found in standard text search systems. It defines a powerful set of wildcards that are deemed important for math search. These wildcards provide for more precise structural search and multi-levels of abstractions. Three new sets of wildcards and their implementation details will also be discussed.   相似文献

Our first basic model is the fully nonlinear dual porous medium equation with source
for which we consider the Cauchy problem with given nonnegative bounded initial data u0. For the semilinear case m=1, the critical exponent was obtained by H. Fujita in 1966. For p ∈(1, p0] any nontrivial solution blows up in finite time, while for p > p0 there exist sufficiently small global solutions. During last thirty years such critical exponents were detected for many semilinear and quasilinear parabolic, hyperbolic and elliptic PDEs and inequalities. Most of efforts were devoted to equations with differential operators in divergent form, where classical techniques associated with weak solutions and integration by parts with a variety of test functions can be applied. Using this fully nonlinear equation, we propose and develop new approaches to calculating critical Fujita exponents in different functional settings.
