The single crystal of [Ni(ina)2(H2O)4]·(sac)2, (NINS), (ina is isonicotinamide and sac is saccharinate) complex has been prepared and its structural, spectroscopic and thermal properties have been determined. The title complex crystallizes in monoclinic system with space group P21/c, Z=2. The octahedral Ni(II) ion, which rides on a crystallographic centre of symmetry, is coordinated by two monodentate ina ligands through the ring nitrogen and four aqua ligands to form discrete [Ni(ina)2(H2O)4] unit, which captures two saccharinate ions in up and down positions, each through intermolecular hydrogen bands. The magnetic environment of copper(II) doped NINS crystal has also been identified by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique. The g and A values of Cu2+ doped NINS single crystal were calculated from the EPR spectra recorded in three mutually perpendicular planes. These values indicated that the paramagnetic centre has a rhombic symmetry with the Cu2+ ion having distorted octahedral environment. The complex exhibits only metal centred electroactivity in the potential range of −2.00, 1.25 V versus Ag/AgCl reference electrode.  相似文献

Using the 2,5-bis(2-pyridyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole (bptd), we recently prepared [Cu2(bptd) (H2O) Cl4] and [Ni2(bptd)2 (H2O)4] Cl4, 3H2O in which the magnetic centres are connected through one diazine+one chloro and two diazine ligand bridges, respectively. These two compounds are the first examples that show null intramolecular magnetic interactions despite M-M distances close to 3.7 Å within perfectly planar edifices:Down to , [Cu2(bptd)Cl4(H2O)] is paramagnetic while, below Tt, half of the Cu2+ions interact, leading to residual paramagnetism of one Cu2+/f.u. Magnetic susceptibility measurements, EPR and pulsed EPR study indicate the original intermolecular nature of AF exchanges.[Ni2(bptd)2(H2O)4]Cl4·3H2O susceptibility obeys a Curie-law involving pure paramagnetism. Moreover, its EPR spectrum can be interpreted on the basis of virtual S=1 monomers. Below 70 K, Zero Field Splitting (D∼275 G) due to dipolar interactions without magnetic exchanges could be responsible for the LT spectra splitting. For both compounds, the thia role is suggested as partially responsible for the null-in-plane magnetic exchanges.  相似文献

The results of EPR and magnetic susceptibility studies on xCuO·(1?x)? [2B2O3·Li2O] glasses with 0?x?30 mol %, are reported. The modification of EPR spectra with the increasing of CuO content are explained supposing that these are the result of the superposition of two EPR signals, one showing the hyperfine structure typical for isolated Cu2+ ions and other consisting from a broad line centered at g ~ 2 typical for the clustered Cu2+ ions. The values of the EPR parameters prove that the coordination of isolated Cu2+ -complexes remains approximately the same and show that Cu2+ ions are situated in axially distorted octahedral vicinities. EPR measurements have shown that the Cu2+ ions are present mostly as the isolated species when x?5 mol %. Beside the dipole-dipole coupling between Cu2+ ions, the magnetic measurements suggest that for x>10 mol % superexchange interactions appear, too. From Curie constant is established that in this glass system the copper ions are in Cu2+ and Cu+ valence states. Also, the amounts of the copper ions in bivalent state are determined.  相似文献

The 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy of mononuclear [Fe(II)(isoxazole)6](ClO4)2 has been studied to reveal the thermal spin crossover of Fe(II) between low-spin (S=0) and high-spin (S=2) states. Temperature-dependent spin transition curves have been constructed with the least-square fitted data obtained from the Mössbauer spectra measured at various temperatures between 84 and 270 K during a cooling and heating cycle. This compound exhibits an unusual temperature-dependent spin transition behaviour with TC(↓)=223 and TC(↑)=213 K occurring in the reverse order in comparison to those observed in SQUID observation and many other spin transition compounds. The compound has three high-spin Fe(II) sites at the highest temperature of study of which two undergo spin transitions. The compound seems to undergo a structural phase transition around the spin transition temperature, which plays a significant role in the spin crossover behaviour as well as the magnetic properties of the compound at temperatures below TC. The present study reveals an increase in high-spin fraction upon heating in the temperature range below TC, and an explanation is provided.  相似文献

The glass systems xCuO . (1- x)TeO2 and xCuO . (1- x)[75TeO2 . 25B2O3] with 0 < x ? 50 mol% were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and a.c. magnetic susceptibility ( ) measurements, the principal aim of the investigation being the study of the structural modifications in the tellurite glasses introduced by the addition of boron oxide. In the case of first glass system, i.e. without B2O3, EPR spectra of Cu2+ ions undergo changes with the increasing concentration of CuO. At very low concentrations, spectra are due to isolated Cu2+ ions in axially distorted octahedral sites. The EPR signal for samples with 3 ? x ? 20 mol% can be explained as being the superposition of two EPR absorptions, one showing the hyperfine structure typical for isolated Cu2+ ions and the other consisting of a symmetric line typical for clustered ions. The broadening of the absorption band is due to dipolar as well exchange interaction. The susceptibility data show that for x > 20 mol%, the Cu2+ ions are predominantly clustered and are coupled through antiferromagnetic exchange interaction. A comparative study of amorphous X-ray diffraction pattern of the glasses indicates a structural modification in the TeO2 network with increasing CuO concentration; the effect is quite visible in the samples with CuO concentrations higher than 20 mole percent. Measurements of density corroborate the conclusions drawn from the X-ray diffraction. Additionally, we show that our data validates a model in which CuO rich regions are surrounded by a buffer boundary which separates them from the tellurite glassy network; effect of introducing B2O3 can be best described as breaking these regions into smaller size regions. The EPR parameters (g factors and hyperfine structure constants A) for the tetragonal Ti3+ center in cubic phase and the rhombic Ti3+ center in tetragonal phase in the neutron-irradiated SrTiO3 crystals are calculated from the third-order perturbation formulas of EPR parameters for d1 ions. These low-symmetry Ti3+ centers in both phases of SrTiO3 are due to the Ti3+ ion at “off center” on the Sr2+ site. From the calculation, the defect models (including the direction and magnitude of the Ti3+ off-center displacement) of the two Ti3+ centers in SrTiO3 are estimated and the EPR parameters of both Ti3+ centers are reasonably explained on the basis of the defect models. The results are discussed.  相似文献

Cu7PSe6 is a mixed conductor that crystallizes in the simple cubic structure at room temperature. Structural transitions above and below room temperature are accompanied by step-like changes in electrical conductivity. The substitution of Ag+ for Cu+ in Cu7PSe6 stabilized the simple cubic structure over a wider range of temperatures than is observed for the pure compound. A disproportionate decrease in electrical conductivity accompanies modest levels of silver substitution. The prominent step in electrical conductivity associated with the low-temperature crystallographic phase transition disappears in (AgxCu1−x)7PSe6 solid solutions for a composition parameter x=0.20, replaced by two distinct changes in the slope of conductivity below room temperature.  相似文献

The heat capacity of the layer compounds tetrachlorobis (n-propylammonium) manganese II and tetrachlorobis (n-propylammonium) cadmium II, (CH3CH2CH2NH3)2MnCl4 and (CH3CH2CH2NH3)2CdCl4 respectively, has been measured over the temperature range 10 K ?T ? 300 K.Two known structural phase transitions were observed for the Mn compound in this temperature region: at T = 112.8 ± 0.1 K (ΔHt= 586 ± 2 J mol?1; ΔSt = 5.47 ± 0.02 J K?1mol?1) and at T =164.3 ± (ΔHt = 496 ± 7 J mol?1; ΔSt =3.29 ± 0.05 J K?1mol?1). The lower transition is known to be from a monoclinic structure to a tetragonal structure, while the upper is from the tetragonal phase to an orthorhombic one. From comparison with the results for the corresponding methyl Mn compound it is deduced that the lower transition primarily involves changes in H-bonding while the upper transition involves motion in the propyl chain.A new structural phase transition was observed in the Cd compound at T= 105.5 ± 0.1 K (ΔHt= 1472.3 ± 0.1 J mol?1; ΔSt = 13.956 ± 0.001 J K?1mol?1), in addition to two transitions that have been observed previously by other techniques. The higher of these transitions(T = 178.7 ± 0.3 K; ΔHt = 982 ± 4 J mol?1 ΔSt = 6.16 ± 0.02 J K? mol?1) is known to be between two orthorhombic structures, while the structural changes at the lower transition (T= 156.8 ± 0.2 K; ΔHt = 598 ± 5 J mol?1, ΔSt = 3.85 ± 0.03 J K?1 mol?1) and at the new transition are not known. It is proposed that these two transitions correspond respectively to the tetragonal to orthorhombic and monoclinic to tetragonal transitions in the propyl Mn compounds. In addition to the structural phase transitions (CH3CH2CH2NH3)2MnCl4 magnetically orders at t? 130 K. The magnetic contribution to the heat capacity is deduced from the heat capacity of the corresponding diamagnetic Cd compound and is of the form expected for a quasi 2-dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnet.  相似文献

EPR and magnetic susceptibility experiments have been performed on x(CuO·MnO)(1?x)[2B2O3·K2O] glasses with x varying in the range 0?x?50 mol.%. For x?3 mol.% both Cu2+ and Mn2+ ions are present mostly as the isolated species. The increase of the g-tensor values and bonding parameters (α2, β2, δ2) for Cu2+ ions together with the increase of TM ions concentration in the 0.2–1 mol.% range was noticed. In the case of 5 ? x ? 30 mol.% the dipole-dipole and superexchange interactions occur between transition metal ions, the first type of interactions prevailing in this range of concentration. For x30 mol.% the superexchange interaction prevail. The strong interaction between Cu2+ and Mn2+ gives rise to the exchange coupled Cu2+Mn2+ pairs in the studied glasses with x 3 mol.%.  相似文献

EPR probed the zincblende (γ) to cubic (α) AgI structural phase transition in AgI at 423 K through two intrinsic paramagnetic centers: an Ag2+-based hole center (signal ‘A’) and an Ag0-based conduction electron center (signal ‘B’) associated with AgI nanocrystallites. Sudden drops in intensity (IPP), <g>, and ΔHPP observed at 423 K for pure AgI nanocrystals. Addition of Cu in AgI increases the thermal stability of the cation sublattice as seen from the increase in the transition temperature from 423 K (undoped AgI) to 453 K. Abrupt jumps in the number of spins (N) and reciprocal susceptibility (1/χ) observed at increased phase transition temperatures in Cu-substituted AgI relative to that in undoped AgI reflects progressively strengthened local bonding configuration of γ-AgI structure induced by Cu.  相似文献

The angular variation of the EPR linewidths in single crystals of (C2H5NH3)2MnBr4 has been measured as a function of temperature. The angular dependence is well characterized by δH(θ) = a + b(3 cos2θ ? 1) + c(3 cos2θ ? 1)2. The temperature dependence of the expansion coefficients is reported, and the effect of critical point fluctuations near the Néel temperature as well as a linear temperature dependence at high temperature are observed. A sharp decrease in linewidths at 160°K is attributed to a structural phase transition. The Néel temperature is determined to be 46°K (± 1°) from linewidth measurements of a powder sample. The linewidths diverge exponentially near the Néel temperature with a critical point exponent of 1.5.  相似文献

New compounds, [Cu3Ln2(ClCH2COO)12(H2O)8]·2H2O with Ln = Nd3+ (I), Sm3+ (II), Pr3+ (III), built up of pentanuclear clusters were synthesized and studied by means of X-ray analysis and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). X-ray data show that all compounds are isostructural and the pentanuclear clusteres may be considered as a linear system with alternating Cu(II) and Ln(III) ions: Cu(2)-L1-Ln-L2-Cu(1)-L2-Ln-L2-Cu(2) with L1 and L2 being bridging fragments and Cu(1) and Cu(2) being structurally nonequivalent copper complexes. EPR studies demonstrate that in the temperature range of 100–293 K the signals due to only one type of the copper complexes are observed in the spectra of I–III. AtT<100 K the spectral temperature dependence is nontrivial. AtT<30 K new signals are detected in the spectra of I and II. The temperature dependence of the EPR spectra is interpreted under the assumption that the parameter of the exchange interaction Cu(2)-Ln considerably exceeds the parameter of the interaction Cu(1)-Ln. EPR spectra are calculated for the fragments of five paramagnetic centers in the frames of the model taking into account the nonequivalence of two copper complexes, short longitudinal and transverse paramagnetic relaxation times of the rare-earth ions at room temperature and the change of the relaxation rates when the temperature decreases. The results of the calculations show that it is possible to obtain information about the interactions in the system on the basis of the analysis of the temperature dependence of the EPR spectra of the central copper complex. The parameter of the isotropic part of the exchange interaction between copper and neodymium ions (for the interaction Cu(2)-Nd) is estimated as about 15 cm−1. A considerable rearrangement of the spin states when the temperature changes is found for all complexes.  相似文献

Dielectric studies on copper doped derivatives of polycrystalline layered mixed alkali trititanate Na1.8K0.2Ti3O7 ceramics indicate that the losses are of mixed type and decrease on copper doping. However, the temperature dependent permittivity plots are characteristic of the diffuse nature of a possible ferroelectric phase transition and hence give indication of relaxor ferroelectric behaviour. From the EPR spectra, recorded at room temperature, it can be seen that the substitution of copper occurs at Ti4+ as preferred site with a divalent oxidation state (Cu2+) for all compositions. Also, copper doping enhances the transition temperature, which is indicative of the stabilization of the existing ferroelectric phase up higher temperatures. Besides bolstering electron hopping conduction, acceptor doping restrains the interlayer ionic conduction. Moreover, electron hopping (polaron) conduction is dominant over the lower temperature region, while interlayer ionic conduction prevails in the higher temperature region.  相似文献

Cu7PSe6 is a mixed conductor exhibiting structural phase transitions above and below room temperature that are accompanied by step-like changes in electrical conductivity. The substitution of S2− for Se2− in Cu7PSe6 significantly enhances electrical conductivity at room temperature compared to that observed for the pure compound. In the case of Cu7P(Se0.80S0.20)6, a nearly temperature-independent electrical conductivity exceeds 1 S/cm with no evidence of any phase transitions throughout the temperature interval 200-400 K. However, the ionic contribution accounts for just 2% of the total electrical conductivity in this solid solution at room temperature.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), luminescence and infrared spectra of Mn2+ ions doped in zinc gallate (ZnGa2O4) powder phosphor have been studied. The EPR spectra have been recorded for zinc gallate phosphor doped with different concentrations of Mn2+ ions. The EPR spectra exhibit characteristic spectrum of Mn2+ ions (S=I=5/2) with a sextet hyperfine pattern, centered at geff=2.00. At higher concentrations of Mn2+ ions, the intensity of the resonance signals decreases. The number of spins participating in the resonance has been measured as a function of temperature and the activation energy (Ea) is calculated. The EPR spectra of ZnGa2O4: Mn2+ have been recorded at various temperatures. From the EPR data, the paramagnetic susceptibility (χ) at various temperatures, the Curie constant (C) and the Curie temperature (θ) have been evaluated. The emission spectrum of ZnGa2O4: Mn2+ (0.08 mol%) exhibits two bands centered at 468 and 502 nm. The band observed at 502 nm is attributed to 4T16A1 transition of Mn2+ ions. The band observed at 468 nm is attributed to the trap-state transitions. The excitation spectrum exhibits two bands centered at 228 and 280 nm. The strong band at 228 nm is attributed to host-lattice absorption and the weak band at 280 nm is attributed to the charge-transfer absorption or d5→d4s transition band. The observed bands in the FT-IR spectrum are assigned to the stretching vibrations of M-O groups at octahedral and tetrahedral sites.  相似文献

The electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra of Cu2+-doped RbH2 PO4 at elevated temperatures indicate a phase transition at 358 K. The EPR-silent state at this temperature is attributed to a so-called polymeric phase transition. After the transition when the temperature is lowered to 293 K, the EPR signal does not appear; therefore, the transition is irreversible. This result seems to be in agreement with the other observations. The EPR spectra for the sample indicate the presence of two sites for Cu2+, and the values of EPR parameters are in accord with the literature on Cu2+-doped single crystals. Any other phase transitions could not to be observed at low temperatures down to 113 K.  相似文献

Second order structural phase transitions in Alur6(ClO4)3 and Gaur6(ClO4)3 with Tc ~ 300 K are studied by means of ESR on single crystals doped with the analogous Cr(III) compound. The transitions are antiferrodistortive and of the displacive type, the displacements resulting from the condensation of a X2 mode (k = (01212)) of the ClO4 ions. The ESR parameters have the same temperature dependence as the order parameters and can be described by D and E~φ~. The space group describing the structure changes from S62 to S21, and the number of domains is multiplied by three. Above 300 K the crystals already consist of two domains, resulting from a ferrodistortive phase transition D3d6S62. The actual transition temperature of the latter phase transition lies at some temperature above the decomposition temperature of the crystals.  相似文献

The paper presents the EPR evidence for the occurrence of phase transitions in (NH4)4ThF8 and (NH4)3ThF7. In both cases the Cu2+ probe occupies a NH4+ site and predominantly experiences a dynamic coordination, either due to dynamic Jahn-Teller effect, or due to fluxional behaviour of surrounding (ThF8)4- units in (NH4)4ThF8. It is proposed that the structural phase transition in this compound at 214 K is associated with the transition of the dynamic coordination of Cu2- into a static one, probably due to freezing of motion of (ThF8)4- units below this temperature. In (NH4)3ThF7 the dynamic features of the Cu2+ EPR spectrum are absent and characteristics of a local orthorhombic symmetry are seen down to 77 K. However, in the high temperature range a change from orthorhombic to axial symmetry is observed at 524 K, possibly due to a phase transition.  相似文献

In this work, two d-d transition spectra and four EPR parameters g, g, A, A of K2PdCl4/Cu2+ are uniformly interpreted based on Zhao's crystal-field model. The calculation result is in good agreement with the experiment findings. The ligand spin-orbit coupling is neglected on the calculation, which is consistent with the ab initio result by Hillier et al. [J. Am. Chem. Soc. 98 (1976) 95]  相似文献

Results of temperature dependence of EPR spectra of Mn2+ and Cu2+ ions doped calcium cadmium acetate hexahydrate (CaCd(CH3COO)4·6H2O) have been reported. The investigation has been carried out in the temperature range between room temperature (~ 300 K) and liquid nitrogen temperature. A I-order phase transition at 146 ± 0.5 K has been confirmed. In addition a new II-order phase transition at 128 ± 1 K has been detected for the first time. There is evidence of large amplitude hindered rotations of CH3 groups which become frozen at ~ 128 K. The incorporation of Cu2+ and Mn2+ probes at Ca2+ and Cd2+ sites respectively provide evidence that the phase transitions are caused by the molecular rearrangements of the common coordinating acetate groups between Ca2+ and Cd2+ sites. In contradiction to the previous reports of a change of symmetry from tetragonal to orthorhombic below 140 K, the symmetry of the host is concluded to remain tetragonal in all the three observed phases between room temperature and liquid nitrogen temperature.  相似文献
