Single crystal Electron Paramagnetic Resonance studies on Mn(II) doped zinc sodium sulphate hexahydrate are carried out at room temperature. The angular variation spectra of the crystal in the three orthogonal planes show that the paramagnetic impurity Mn(II) has entered the host lattice interstitially. The spin Hamiltonian parameters calculated are: gxx=1.899, gyy=1.944, gzz=2.024; and The probable location for the interstitial site has been identified from the position of various atoms in the lattice. The variable temperature study for polycrystalline sample has been carried out, which indicates no phase transition. The percentage covalency of Mn-O bond has been estimated to be 8.5%.  相似文献

The electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) of Nd3+ ion in KY(WO4)2 single crystal was investigated at T=4.2 K using an X-band spectrometer. The observed resonance absorption represents the complex superposition of three spectra corresponding to neodymium isotopes with different nuclear momenta. The EPR spectrum is characterized by a strong g-factor anisotropy. The temperature dependences of the g-factor were caused by strong spin-orbit and orbit-lattice coupling. The resonance lines become broader as temperature increases due to the short spin-lattice relaxation time.  相似文献

Single crystal EPR studies of Cu(II) incorporated in magnesium rubidium sulphate hexahydrate are carried out at RT and 77 K. Since the hyperfine lines are not resolved at RT, single crystal rotations have been carried out at 77 K. The spin Hamiltonian parameters calculated from the 77 K spectra are: g11=2.133, g22=2.137, g33=2.327, A11=0.01, A22=1.44 and . The impurity ion occupies an interstitial position in this crystal lattice, which is not very common for copper ion. In addition, the low hyperfine coupling constant is explained by considering an admixture of dx2-y2 ground state with dz2 excited state. Bonding parameters, κ=0.254, , α2=0.706, α=0.8406 have also been calculated. The present study has helped to understand the static nature of JT, for which the present system is an example.  相似文献

We present a magnetic study of vanadium oxide nanotubes (VOx-NTs) with polyaniline (PAni). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) shows the tubular shape and the multi-wall structure of the nanotubes. The static magnetic susceptibility measured at different magnetic fields shows a Curie behavior, while the magnetization versus magnetic field presents a non-linear dependence at low temperatures. Both experiments can be explained by the presence of paramagnetic ions with S = 1/2. Using Electron Paramagnetic Resonance technique, we identified as V4+(3d1) the paramagnetic ions present in the nanostructures. All the experimental results can be explained by a fraction between 14% and 18% of V4+ with respect to the total V atoms in the system.  相似文献

The goal of our studies was to determine the nature of interactions between catalytic active samples, such as polypyrrole (PPy) doped with: chloride anions, heteropolyacids such as H5PMo10V2O40, or H4SiW12O40, and oxygen particles. In order to reveal the mechanism of the linkage between the catalysts and oxygen we provided the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements of synthesized samples in O2 and N2 flow. Moreover, the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements were performed to show the properties of doped heteropolyacids and the state of nitrogen in polypyrrole matrix. The results of EPR studies of PPy(Cl), PPy(H4SiW12O40), PPy(H5PMo10V2O40) samples, show that the polypyrrole doped with chloride anions interacts much easier with oxygen than polypyrrole doped with heteropolyacids (in the above given order, of preference with the most active polypyrrole system first). It correlates with XPS results, which show that a molybdenium-vanadium anion is more reduced than a silicon-tungsten one. The redox reactions of heteropolyacids involve the oxidation-reduction of the conjugated polymer chain, leaving no or little place for interactions with oxygen. Polypyrrole doped with H4SiW12O40 shows some oxygen sensitivity as observed in the EPR studies, as opposed to polypyrrole doped with H5PMo10V2O40, which is in line with the XPS results.  相似文献

Single crystal EPR study of Mn(II) doped in cobalt potassium phosphate hexahydrate has been carried out at room temperature. The impurity shows a 30 line pattern EPR spectra along a particular crystallographic axis suggesting the existence of only one type of impurity in place of Co(II) ion in the host lattice. The spin Hamiltonian parameters have been estimated as: g11=2.011, g22=1.998, g33=1.991, and A11=−8.9, A22=−8.8, A33=−8.4 mT and D11=−15.2, D22=−9.4, D33=24.6 mT, respectively. The sign of A is designated as negative and D as positive. The covalency of metal-oxygen bond has been estimated. The relaxation times, calculated as a function of temperature, indicate spin-lattice relaxation narrowing at room temperature.  相似文献

Electron spin resonance (ESR) of Cu2+ doped cadmium formate dihydrate single crystal was studied at room temperature. Copper enters the lattice substitutionally and is trapped at two magnetically inequivalent sites. The observed spectra are fitted to a spin-Hamiltonian of rhombic symmetry with the following values of the spin-Hamiltonian parameters, Cu2+(I): gx=2.097±0.002, gy=2.1166±0.002, gz=2.2887±0.002 and Ax=(140±2)×10−4 cm−1, Ay=(151±2)×10−4 cm−1, Az=(239±2)×10−4 cm−1, Cu2+(II): gx=2.0843±0.002, gy=2.1045±0.002, gz=2.2742±0.002 and Ax=(141±2)×10−4 cm−1, Ay=(158±2)×10−4 cm−1, Az=(267±2)×10−4 cm−1. The ground state wave function of the Cu2+ ion in this lattice is evaluated. It is found that the ground state is predominantly |x2y2〉. The g-factor anisotropy is also calculated and compared with the experimental value. With the help of the optical absorption study, the nature of bonding in the complex has been discussed.  相似文献

Single crystal electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies on Cu(II)-doped magnesium potassium phosphate hexahydrate have been carried out at room temperature. The temperature dependence of g and A values has been obtained for the polycrystalline sample and the ground state is unambiguously identified. These results indicate the existence of a dynamic Jahn-Teller distortion for Cu(II) ion. The g and A tensor direction cosines are evaluated and compared with Mg-O directions, which confirms that Cu(II) enters substitutionally in the lattice.  相似文献

We have studied [N(C2H5)4]2MnCl4 crystal by X-band CW EPR spectra in the temperature range 170-300 K. The angular dependences of linewidth ΔH were measured and described in the light of a double-layer system (2D) with exchange interactions. Two temperature anomalies of linewidth ΔH were found at T1=225 K and T2=192 K on cooling. Different behaviors of ΔH anomalies recorded for an external magnetic field parallel and perpendicular to the ab crystallographic plane indicate ordering/disordering of MnCl4 groups in this plane and their displacement along the c-axis which occurs in the temperature of about 225 K.  相似文献

A single-crystal TlGaSe2 doped by paramagnetic Fe ions has been studied at room temperature by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique. The fine structure of EPR spectra of paramagnetic Fe3+ ions was observed. The spectra were interpreted to correspond to the transitions among spin multiplet (S=5/2, L=0) of Fe3+ ion, which are splitted by the local ligand crystal field (CF) of orthorhombic symmetry. Four equivalent Fe3+ centers have been observed in the EPR spectra and the local symmetry of crystal field at the Fe3+ site and CF parameters were determined. Experimental results indicate that the Fe ions substitute Ga at the center of GaSe4 tetrahedrons, and the rhombic distortion of the CF is caused by the Tl ions located in the trigonal cavities between the tetrahedral complexes.  相似文献

TlGaS2 single crystal doped by paramagnetic Fe3+ ions has been studied by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique. The fine structure of EPR spectra of paramagnetic Fe3+ ions was observed. The spectra reveal a nearly orthorhombic symmetry of the crystal field (CF) on the Fe3+ ions. Two groups each consisting of four equivalent Fe3+ centers were observed in the EPR spectra. The local symmetry of the crystal field on the Fe3+ centers and CF parameters were determined. Experimental results indicate that the Fe ions substitute Ga at the center of the GaS4 tetrahedrons. The rhombic distortion of the sulfur ligand CF is attributed to the effect of Tl ions located in the trigonal cavities between the tetrahedral complexes. The observed twinning of the resonance lines indicates a presence of two non-equivalent positions of Tl ions that confirms their zigzag alignment in the TlGaS2 crystal structure.  相似文献

By analyzing the EPR parameters a, D and F of Cr2+ ion located at tetrahedral site in ZnS, the local structure around Cr2+ in the crystal has been investigated on the basis of the complete energy matrix for a d4 configuration in a tetragonal ligand-field within a strong-field-representation. It is shown that there exists an expansion distortion in the local lattice structure. From EPR calculation, the distortion parameters ΔR=0.13 Å and Δθ=1.417° are determined.  相似文献

The electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies of LiNbO3 single crystal doped with 1 wt% of Yb3+ are reported. To put the EPR results in perspective, a brief discussion of optical absorption spectroscopy investigations of LiNbO3:Yb3+ is provided. The temperature behavior of the EPR lines intensity and linewidth for LiNbO3:Yb3+ reveals antiferromagnetic coupling between Yb3+ ions. The deconvolution of the EPR lines indicates that EPR signals arise from both the isolated Yb3+ ions as well as the Yb3+-Yb3+ ion pairs; the latter signals dominate. Based on this indication, EPR spectra are interpreted using a spin Hamiltonian for the Yb3+ dissimilar ion pairs. The negative sign of the isotropic parameter J confirms the existence of the antiferromagnetic interactions within Yb3+-Yb3+ pairs. The value of J obtained based on the proposed pair model, assuming the dipole-dipole interactions, is used to identify the positions of the Yb3+-Yb3+ pairs in the unit cell. Our results suggest the evenYb3+-evenYb3+ pairs are located at the neighboring Li+ and Nb5+ positions, whereas the pair axis is not parallel to the optical c-axis. Some alternative explanations of the observed EPR spectra are also considered.  相似文献

We show that X-band electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements using a dual-mode resonance cavity can directly probe the levels near the top of the magnetization reversal barrier in the single-molecule magnet (SMM) Mn12-acetate. The observed transitions are much sharper than those reported in high-field EPR studies. The observed temperature dependence of the line positions points to the presence of a spin-diffusional mode. The correlation time for such fluctuations is of the order of 6×10−8 s at 10 K, and follows an Arrhenius activation energy of 35-40 K. These results open a new avenue for understanding the mechanism of tunneling and spin-lattice relaxations in these SMMs.  相似文献

The splitting of NMR signal, which is analyzed in terms of the invariant hyperfine coupling between the nuclear spin and the multipolar moments of magnetic ions, gives important information about the multipolar ordering. The NMR splitting of P nuclei is analyzed for the low-temperature phase of PrFe4P12, whose nature has been controversial. Two scenarios are examined: one is a modulation of the hyperfine coupling caused by the antiferro-quadrupole (AFQ) ordering; another is the hyperfine coupling due to a monopole-type ordering.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance on La2/3−xYxCa1/3MnO3 in the paramagnetic (PM) regime is presented for 0≤x≤0.133. The resonance linewidth (ΔHpp) decreases with cooling, reaches the minimum at Tmin, and then anomalously increases with further cooling toward Tc. Our analysis on ΔHpp(T) below Tmin shows that the anomalous PM behavior below Tmin is due to the appearance of a ferromagnetic (FM) phase within the PM matrix caused by the applied magnetic fields. The correlation between the anomalous PM and the colossal magnetoresistance is discussed. We argue that both are caused by the phase segregation in which the compound is phase-separated into a mixture of FM and PM regions.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a combined STM and EPR study on the adsorption and self-organization of monolayers formed from 2-(14-Carboxytetradecyl)-2-ethyl-4,4-dimethyl-3-oxazolidinyloxy (16DS) and 4′,4′-Dimethylspiro(5α-cholestane-3,2′-oxazolidin)-3′-yloxy (CSL) adsorbed on a highly oriented pyrolitic graphite HOPG(0 0 0 1) substrate. Both 16DS and CSL molecules are persistent free radicals containing a paramagnetic doxyl group. The STM measurements of 16DS on HOPG(0 0 0 1) were performed at the liquid-solid interface while the studies of CSL on HOPG(0 0 0 1) were carried out under ultrahigh vacuum conditions. It was found that the 16DS molecules on the HOPG(0 0 0 1) surface form a highly-ordered monolayer with a domain structure. The high-resolution STM images show structural details of 16DS molecules on HOPG(0 0 0 1) revealing the paramagnetic doxyl group. In contrast, CSL molecules on HOPG(0 0 0 1) form a well-ordered monolayer without domain structure. The EPR results indicate that both compounds deposited on HOPG(0 0 0 1) substrate are not reduced and retain their paramagnetic character. We believe that the molecular systems described can be used in single spin detection experiments using an electron spin noise-scanning tunnelling microscopy (ESN-STM) technique. In particular, the possibility of obtaining contrast spin signals from the paramagnetic and diamagnetic parts of molecules increases the significance of our results.  相似文献

A theoretical method for investigating the inter-relation between the molecular structure and electronic structure has been established on the basis of the 252×252 complete energy matrices for a 3d5 configuration ion in a tetragonal ligand field. By means of this method, which is independent of the X-ray diffraction, the local structure of the paramagnetic Mn2+ ion in perovskite fluorides A2MF4 (A=K, Rb; M=Zn, Mg, Cd) are determined directly by analyzing the EPR spectrum of octahedral Mn2+ center in A2MF4 crystals and the optical absorption spectrum of the (MnF6)4− cluster. It is shown that, comparing with the octahedral cubic structure, the local micro-structure in the vicinity of Mn2+ displays an elongated distortion when and a compressed distortion when , and ΔR vs. as well as ΔR vs. in the distortion region is, respectively, approximately linear. Simultaneously, the theoretical zero-field-splitting parameters , and are in good agreement with the experimental values.  相似文献

Magnetic and electronic structure calculations are carried out for hypothetical zinc-blende (zb) phase of FeX (X=P, As, Sb) by using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FLAPW) method. For zb FeSb, the total energy has been calculated as a function of lattice constant in ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AFM) states. We found that the ground state of zb FeSb is very stable with respect to compression and expansion of the unit cell. The magnetic moment of zb FeSb in the AFM state is increasing with the lattice constant. The magnetic and electronic structures calculations of FeAs (FeP) are carried out for the lattice constants of GaAs (GaP), InAs (InP), and Si. Our finding shows that AFM is the ground state for all of our calculated zb FeX compounds and do not belong to the class of zb half metallic ferromagnets.  相似文献

The electronic structure and the ferromagnetism of CrS and CrP in the zinc-blende (ZB) phase are investigated by spin-polarized calculations with first-principles plane-wave pseudopotential method within the generalized gradient approximation for the exchange-correlation potential. From the analysis of the spin-dependent density of states, band structure and magnetic moment, we predict that ZB CrS and CrP at their respective equilibrium lattice constant are half-metallic ferromagnets with a magnetic moment of 4.00 and 3.00μB per formula unit, respectively. We also find that the ZB CrS maintains half-metallic ferromagnetism up to 3% compression of lattice constant while the half-metallic ferromagnetism for ZB CrP exists only near its equilibrium lattice constant.  相似文献
