Fe50Co50 thin films with thickness of 30 and 4 nm have been produced by rf sputtering on glass substrates, and their surface has been observed with atomic force microscopy (AFM) and magnetic force microscopy (MFM); MFM images reveal a non-null component of the magnetization perpendicular to the film plane. Selected samples have been annealed in vacuum at temperatures of 300 and 350 °C for times between 20 and 120 min, under a static magnetic field of 100 Oe. DC hysteresis loops have been measured with an alternating gradient force magnetometer (AGFM) along the direction of the field applied during annealing and orthogonally to it. Samples with a thickness of 4 nm display lower coercive fields with respect to the 30 nm thick ones. Longer annealing times affect the development of a harder magnetic phase more oriented off the film plane. The field applied during annealing induces a moderate magnetic anisotropy only on 30 nm thick films.  相似文献

The low-temperature magnetization of a film was analyzed by the use of exact Bose representation of spin operators that does not suffer from the presence of unphysical states. The magnetization of thin films has exponentially small temperature correctness, so that Dyson’s proof about exponentially small correction coming from two bosons at ideal lattice point cannot be used in film analyses. The main conclusions of this work are that magnetic lattice of a thin film is more rigid than the macroscopic lattice and that the autoreduction process (the three layer film divides into two layer subfilms) takes place in the film.  相似文献

It is demonstrated that perpendicular magnetic anisotropy may be obtained with a room temperature growth process in ordered (FePd) alloys. Indeed, using atomic layer by atomic layer epitaxy, a partial chemical ordering into the L10 structure is obtained, with a corresponding intermediate perpendicular anisotropy (). These samples provide an appropriate template for the study of the magnetic reorientation from in plane to out of plane magnetization upon layer's thickness increase. VSM, transverse Kerr measurements and magnetic force microscopy have been used in order to determine the relevant magnetic parameters and the occurrence of the reorientation transition. The magnetization reversal of the bilayer polycrystalline FeNi(50 Å)/FeMn(50 Å) film sputtered in a magnetic field has been studied by magnetic and magneto-optical techniques. The external magnetic fields were applied along the easy or hard magnetization axis of the ferromagnetic permalloy layer. The asymmetry of hysteresis loop has been found. Appreciable asymmetry and the exchange bias were observed only in the field applied along the easy axis. The specific features of magnetization reversal were explained within the phenomenological model that involves high-order exchange anisotropy and misalignment of the easy axes of the antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic layers. It has been shown that the film can exist in one of three equilibrium magnetic states in the field applied along the easy axis. The transitions between these states occur as first-order phase transitions. The observed hysteresis loop asymmetry is related to the existence of the metastable state.  相似文献

[Co/Gd0.36Co0.64]4/Co multilayers with Co termination layer have been prepared by rf sputtering. They form macroscopic ferrimagnets with a compensation temperature (Tcomp) determined by the thickness ratio of the layers. In low fields the magnetization of Co and Gd–Co layers are along the axis of the applied field. Increasing field makes the moments of both the Co and Gd–Co layers deviate from the axis of the field giving rise to a transition into a twisted state. These magnetic transitions were studied by vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), magneto-optic Kerr effect and magnetoresistance measurements at various temperatures. The nucleation and evolution of surface- and bulk-twisted magnetic states were also observed in these multilayers.  相似文献

The effect of thermal annealing on the magnetic, transport and electronic properties of electron beam evaporated Fe/Al multilayer samples (MLS), with an overall atomic concentration ratio of Fe/Al 1:1, have been investigated. The grazing incidence X-ray diffraction, resistivity and valance band photoemission measurements indicates the formation of sub-stoichiometric B2 FeAl intermetallic phase at the interface for the MLS annealed at higher temperatures. The corresponding magnetization measurements show large increase in coercivity and drastic reduction in magnetization values. The observed magnetization behaviour in each case is interpreted in terms of their structural and electronic properties changes induced due to the annealing treatment.  相似文献

Thin iron films have been grown on (001) GaAs substrates by low pressure metal organic chemical vapor deposition (LP-MOCVD) at different temperatures with the pressure of 150 Torr. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that all films have only one strong diffraction peak (110). The surface of Fe film became smooth with increasing the growth temperature. Magnetization measurements showed that the Fe films grown at different temperatures were ferromagnetic with easy axis parallel to the film surface and hard axis perpendicular to the substrates. The field dependence of magnetization along two axes showed a remarkable difference, implying that the samples have strong magnetic anisotropy. Furthermore, when the applied magnetic field is perpendicular to the Fe surface, a sharp jump in the hysteresis loop could be observed, followed by a broad shoulder, which is related to the interface effect, the existence of carbon and the formation of 180°/90° magnetic domains.  相似文献

A systematic study of the magnetic properties by ion beam sputter-deposition system, was conducted in conjunction with the structure of FePt/FeMn multilayers fabricated onto MgO(0 0 1) substrates. Both parallel and perpendicular exchange biases were observed in the multilayers and were found to decrease drastically, as the deposition temperature is higher than 350 °C, which is evidently due to the interdiffusion at the interface. The thickness dependence study shows that the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy observed in the multilayers originates from surface anisotropy, being consistent with the decrease of perpendicular magnetic anisotropy as the deposition temperature is increased. The difference between parallel and perpendicular blocking temperatures that was clearly observed, is possibly due to the spin canting out of plane at the interface.  相似文献

Using the effective-field theory we studied the magnetic properties of a random diluted spin-1/2, 1, 3/2 superlattice which consists of three different ferromagnetic materials. The critical temperature of the system is studied as a function of the concentration of magnetic atoms and exchange interactions in each layer. The temperature dependence of magnetization shows that the properties of the diluted system are different from those of the corresponding pure system.  相似文献

We present a detailed magnetic characterization of Cr and Mn doped InN films be means of superconducting quantum interference device magnetometry and X-ray magnetic circular dichroism. The InN:Cr films exhibit ferromagnetic behavior up to 300 K in a doping region from 2% to 8% without detectable phase segregation. The easy axis of magnetization is found to be in the film plane. On the contrary, Mn-doped films show signatures of phase segregation and paramagnetic behavior.  相似文献

Based on both the spin diffusion equation and the Landau-LlTshitz-Gilbert (LLG) equation, we demonstrate the influence of out-of-plane spin torque on magnetization switching and susceptibility in a magnetic multilayer system. The variation of spin accumulation and local magnetization with respect to time are studied in the magnetization reversal induced by spin torque. We also research the susceptibility subject to a microwave magnetic field, which is compared with the results obtained without out-of-plane torque.  相似文献

The interactions in ternary and quaternary Co-based alloy thin films for longitudinal recording media, with different thickness, are studied. The analysis is performed through the measurement of the initial magnetization and ordinary hysteresis curves. The interactions result stronger in quaternary than in ternary alloy films and when the film thickness is smaller. These findings are discussed in relationship with the evolution of the magnetization switching, characterized by a tendency towards a more coherent rotation of the magnetization in single-domain grains of thinnest and quaternary films, owing to the complex structure of these films. The impact of this evolution on the thermal stability of the magnetic properties is also discussed.  相似文献

Recent experiments show that on rather thick Co films deposition of Cu or adsorption of CO or C can switch the magnetization direction along the surface normal. We present semi-empirical self-consistent tight-binding calculations for a semi-infinite hcp Co(0001) crystal. It appears that the contribution of the magnetic anisotropy-energy from the surface layer favors the in-plane alignment of magnetic moments. Various surface perturbations (Cu deposition or CO adsorption, artificial suppression of surface magnetization), however, reduce this contribution considerably or even change the sign of the electronic part of the magnetic anisotropy energy, thus making conditions for perpendicular magnetization more favourable.  相似文献

The structural and magnetic properties of La/Fe multilayers were investigated by X-ray diffraction, RHEED, magnetometry and57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy. Comparison is made with previous results obtained for Ce/Fe multilayers. Remarkably sharp interfaces are found, with roughness between 2 and 2.5 Å. The magnetic interface in the Fe sublayers resulting from the distribution of magnetic hyperfine fields distinctly exceeds the extension of the structural interface and points to a magnetic proximity effect. This is discussed in relation to a strong 3d-5d hybridization recently found in measurements of magnetic circular X-ray dichroism. Both the structural and magnetic La/Fe interface is less extended than the interface in Ce/Fe multilayers. Below a thickness of about 25 Å, the individual Fe layers grow in an amorphous structure on the La layers. In this case, Curie temperatures are below 200 K and the Fe-layer saturation magnetization is reduced up to 50%, and there is evidence of a non-collinear spin structure. It is argued that this mainly reflects the properties of pure amorphous Fe.  相似文献

The element and electronic shell specificities of X-ray resonant magnetic scattering have been used to investigate the magnetization of Ce 5d and Fe 3d states in [CeH2(19.6 ?)/Fe(25.4 ?)]*38 a multilayer. We show that the measurement of the magnetic contribution to the intensities reflected at low angles at the Ce L2 and Fe L2,3 edges allows us to investigate the profile of the Ce 5d and Fe 3d magnetic polarization. The Fe 3d polarization is found to be uniform across the Fe layer and the Ce 5d polarization appears to be restricted close to the interface with Fe. Magnetic hysteresis properties of antiferromagnetically exchange-coupled bilayer structures, in which the two magnetic layers have different magnetic parameters and thicknesses, are studied within the framework of the Stoner-Wohlfarth model. Analytical expressions for the switching fields corresponding to the linear magnetic states are obtained. By adjusting the magnetic parameters or thicknesses of layers, nine different types of easy-axis hysteresis loops may exist. The phase diagram of easy-axis hysteresis loops is mapped in the k1 and k2 plane, where k1 and k2 are the ratios of magnetic anisotropy to the interlayer exchange coupling of the two magnetic layers, respectively.  相似文献

Using the two-point conductivity formula, we numerically evaluate the giant magnetoresistance (GMR) in magnetic superlattices with currents in the plane of the layers (CIP), from which the effect of the interfacial roughness and magnetization configuration on the GMR is studied. With increasing interfacial roughness, the maximal GMR ratio is found to first increase and then decrease, exhibiting a peak at an optimum strength of interfacial roughness. For systems composed of relatively thick layers, the GMR is approximately proportional to ,where is the angle between the magnetizations in two successive ferromagnetic layers, but noticeable departures from this dependence are found when the layers become sufficiently thin. The magnetization dynamics is studied theoretically in the tilted-polarizer magnetic trilayers. Utilizing stability analysis, we obtain the phase diagrams in the plane defined by the current density and the direction of pinned-layer magnetization. With the pinned-layer magnetization oriented in a certain range, one can realize different magnetic states, such as quasi-parallel and quasi-antiparallel stable states, in-plane and out-of-plane precessions, and out-of-plane stable states by varying the current. We find that the free-layer magnetization prefers reversal for small deviation of the fixed-layer magnetization from the film plane, while precession for big deviation.  相似文献

Interlayer exchange coupling in dc-magnetron sputtered Tb29.6Co70.4/FePt bilayers with different annealing temperatures of the FePt film have been investigated. The dependence of ordering degree on perpendicular magnetic properties of the FePt film was studied. The Tb29.6Co70.4/FePt film has high perpendicular coercivity and high saturated magnetization about 7.5 kOe, and 302 emu/cm3, respectively as the substrate temperature is 500 °C and annealing at 500 °C for 30 min. It also shows a strong exchange coupling between this FePt layer and Tb29.6Co70.4 layer. We also examined the interface wall energy in the exchange coupled Tb29.6Co70.4/FePt double layers.  相似文献
