The notion of an electrostatic charge of (±2)-twist disclinations is used to approximate the evaluation of the electrostatic interaction energy among disclinations forming arrays in finite samples of ferroelectric chiral smectic C liquid crystals. Screening effects of free charges in a material surrounding the disclination are taken into account by introducing a phenomenological depolarisation factor.The electrostatic interaction energy is important in chiral smectic C materials with high values of the spontaneous polarisation when screening effects of free charges are small. Then the electrostatic interaction leads to elimination of disclinations from the sample. When there is a high concentration of free charges in the sample (smaller value of depolarisation factor), the electrostatic interaction energy is of the order of the elastic interaction energy of disclinations what influences the equilibrium of disclination arrays in the sample. Two disclination configurations are considered. In the Brunet-Williams configuration the disclinations of opposite topological charge have also the opposite electrostatic charge so their attraction is augmented. This attraction can be balanced by the helical structure in the central part of the sample when the sample thickness is rather high.On the contrary, in the Glogarová-Pavel configuration the disclinations of opposite topological charge have the electrostatic charge of the same sign. The equilibrium in this configuration is either a balance of elastic attraction and electrostatic repulsion if elastic and Coulomb forces are of the same order or it is governed by the value of the anchoring energy when electrostatic interaction prevails over the elastic one. 相似文献

We search for CP violation in Cabibbo-suppressed charged D meson decays by measuring the difference between the CP-violating asymmetries for the Cabibbo-suppressed decays D(±)→K(+)K(-)π(±) and the Cabibbo-favored decays D(s)(±)→K(+)K(-)π(±) in the K(+)K(-) mass region of the ? resonance. Using 955 fb(-1) of data collected with the Belle detector, we obtain A(CP)(D+→?π+)=(+0.51±0.28±0.05)%. The measurement improves the sensitivity of previous searches by more than a factor of 5. We find no evidence for direct CP violation. 相似文献

Topological Aspect and Bifurcation of Disclination Lines in Two—Dimensional Liquid Crystals 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Using φ-mapping method and topological current theory,the topological structure and bifurcation of disclination lines in two-dimensional liquid crystals are studied.By introducing the strength density and the topological current of many disclination lines,the total disclination strength is topologically quantized by the Hopf indices and Brouwer degrees at the singularities of the director field when the Jacobian determinant of director field does not vanish.When the Jacobian determinant vanishes,the origin,annihilation and bifurcation processes of disclination lines are studied in the neighborhoods of the limit points and bifurcation points,respectively.The branch solutions at the limit point and the different directions of all branch curves at the bifurcation point are calculated with the conservation law of the topological quantum numbers.It is pointed out that a disclination line with a higher strength is unstable and it will evolve to the lower strength state through the bifurcation process. 相似文献

Nanosecond photoelectric effect is observed in a ZrO2 single crystal at ambient temperature for the first time. The rise time is 20ns and the full width at half maximum is about 30ns for the photovoltaic pulse when the wafer surface of the ZrO2 single crystal is irradiated by 248 nm KrF laser pulses. The experimental results show that ZrO2 single crystals may be a potential candidate in UV photodetectors. 相似文献

In this article, we investigate the long time behaviour of a correlation function $c_{\mu _{0}}$ which is associated with a nematic liquid crystal system that is undergoing an isotropic-nematic phase transition. Within the setting of Landau–de Gennes theory, we confirm a hypothesis in the condensed matter physics literature on the average self-similar behaviour of this correlation function in the asymptotic regime at time infinity, namely $$\begin{aligned} \left\| c_{\mu _{0}}(r, t)-e^{-\frac{|r|^{2}}{8t}}\right\| _{L^{\infty }(\mathbb {R}^{3}, \,dr)}=\mathcal {O}(t^{-\frac{1}{2}}) \quad \mathrm as \quad t\longrightarrow \infty . \end{aligned}$$ In the final sections, we also pass comment on other scaling regimes of the correlation function. 相似文献

In iron-based superconductors,the(0,π) or(π,0) nematicity,which describes an electronic anisotropy with a fourfold symmetry breaking,is well established and believed to be important for understanding the superconducting mechanism.However,how exactly such a nematic order observed in the normal state can be related to the superconducting pairing is still elusive.Here,by performing angular-dependent in-plane magnetoresistivity using ultra-thin flakes in the steep superconducting transition region,we unveil a nematic superconducting order along the(π,π) direction in electron-doped BaFe_(2-x)Ni_xAs_2 from under-doped to heavily overdoped regimes with x=0.065-0.18.It shows superconducting gap maxima along the(π,π) direction rotated by 45° from the nematicity along(0,π) or(π,0) direction observed in the normal state.A similar(π,π)-type nematicity is also observed in the under-doped and optimally doped hole-type Ba_(1-y)K_yFe_2 As_2,with y=0.2-0.5.These results suggest that the(π,π) nematic superconducting order is a universal feature that needs to be taken into account in the superconducting pairing mechanism in iron-based superconductors. 相似文献

We report on a search for CP violation in τ(±)→K(S)(0)π(±)ν(τ) decays using a data sample of 699 fb(-1) collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB electron-positron asymmetric-energy collider. The CP asymmetry is measured in four bins of the invariant mass of the K(S)(0)π(±) system and found to be compatible with zero with a precision of O(10(-3)) in each mass bin. Limits for the CP violation parameter Im(η(S)) are given at the 90% confidence level. These limits are |Im(η(S))| < 0.026 or better, depending on the parametrization used to describe the hadronic form factors, and improve upon previous limits by 1 order of magnitude. 相似文献

We investigate the frequency, temperature, tetragonality and quenched temperature dependences of the hysteresis loops in Pb[(Zr0.52 Ti0.48)0.95 (Mn1/3Nb2/3)0.05]O3 (PMnN-PZT) ceramics. It has been demonstrated that the polarization-field hysteresis curves show “pinched” shapes when tested at room temperature, higher frequency or using the large-tetragonality specimen. While normal square-like loops are observed at 200℃ and 0.01 Hz or using the small-tetragonality one. Meanwhile, close relations between the P-E loops and the applied frequency,temperature or tetragonality reveal that there exists a typical relaxation time corresponding to the reorientation of the defect dipoles. It can be seen further from the quenched temperature dependences of the loops that the reorientation of the defect dipoles may influence the pinching. Compared to the intrinsic depinning procedure induced by changes of the distribution of defect dipoles, we provide new evidence for extrinsic depinning mechanism of the defect dipoles in the ferroelectric ceramics. 相似文献

利用北京谱仪(BES)在4.03GeV正负电子对撞能量下获取的数据,[研究了,τ+τ-产生过程.借助双标记方法分析了τ±→π+π-π±υτ衰变事例.测定分支比Br(τ±→a1±υτ→ρ0π±υτ,ρ0→π+π-=(7.3±0.5)%,Br(τ±→K*±υτ→Ks0π±υτ,Ks0→π+π-)=(0.6±1.5)×10-3.并由Daliz投影分布的分析,确认a1的主要衰变方式ρπ.同时,也观察到a1衰变中以S波贡献为主的现象.采用Kuhn模型拟合实验数据,得到:ma1=1.24±0.02GeV,Γa1T=0.57±0.07GeV. 相似文献
