TiO2 thin films were grown by ion beam sputter deposition (IBSD) using oxygen ions, with the ion energy and geometrical parameters (ion incidence angle, polar emission angle, and scattering angle) being varied systematically. Metallic Ti and ceramic TiO2 served as target materials. The thin films were characterized concerning thickness, growth rate, surface topography, structural properties, mass density, and optical properties. It was found that the scattering geometry has the main impact on the film properties. Target material, ion energy, and ion incidence angle have only a marginal influence. Former studies on reactive IBSD of TiO2 using Ar and Xe ions reported equivalent patterns. Nevertheless, the respective ion species distinctively affects the film properties. For instance, mass density and the refractive index of the TiO2 thin films are remarkably lower for sputtering with oxygen ions than for sputtering with Ar or Xe ions. The variations in the thin film properties are tentatively attributed to the angular and the energy distribution of the film-forming particles, especially, to those of the backscattered primary particles.  相似文献

Ion beam sputter deposition (IBSD) is an established physical vapour deposition technique that offers the opportunity to tailor the properties of film-forming particles and, consequently, film properties. This is because of two reasons: (i) ion generation and acceleration (ion source), sputtering (target) and film deposition (substrate) are locally separated. (ii) The angular and energy distribution of sputtered target atoms and scattered primary particles depend on ion incidence angle, ion energy, and ion species. Ion beam sputtering of a Si target in a reactive oxygen atmosphere was used to grow SiO2 films on silicon substrates. The sputtering geometry, ion energy and ion species were varied systematically and their influence on film properties was investigated. The SiO2 films are amorphous. The growth rate increases with increasing ion energy and ion incidence angle. Thickness, index of refraction, stoichiometry, mass density and surface roughness show a strong correlation with the sputtering geometry. A considerable amount of primary inert gas particles is found in the deposited films. The primary ion species also has an impact on the film properties, whereas the influence of the ion energy is rather small.  相似文献

Mn-doped anatase TiO2 (Mn: 1.2, 2.4 at%) thin films were grown on Si(100) via atomic layer deposition (ALD). The synthesis utilized Ti(OCH(CH3)2)4 and H2O as ALD precursors and Mn(DPM)3 as a dopant source. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements indicate that Mn is successfully doped in the TiO2 matrix and reveal information about film composition and elemental chemical states. Microstructure, crystallinity, and density were investigated with scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray reflectivity. All ALD-synthesized films exhibited room-temperature ferromagnetism; the microstructure, density, and magnetic field-dependent magnetization of the TiO2 varied with the concentration of Mn. ALD permits precise composition and thickness control, and much higher process throughput compared to alternative techniques.  相似文献

In this work photocatalytic properties of TiO2 thin films doped with different amount of Tb have been described. Thin films were prepared by high energy reactive magnetron sputtering process. Comparable photocatalytic activity has been found for all doped TiO2 thin films, while different amounts of Tb dopant (0.4 and 2.6 at. %) results in either an anatase or rutile structure. It was found that the terbium dopant incorporated into TiO2 was also responsible for the amount of hydroxyl groups and water particles adsorbed on the thin film surfaces and thus photocatalytic activity was few times higher in comparison with results collected for undoped TiO2 thin films.  相似文献

Focusing on additive-free electrodes, thin films are of typical interest as electrodes for lithium ion battery application. Herein, we report the fabrication of TiO2 thin films by spray pyrolysis deposition technique. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopic analysis confirms the formation of anatase TiO2. Electrochemical evaluation of these sub-micron TiO2 thin films exhibits high-rate performance and long cycling stability. At 1C rate (1C?=?335 mA/g), the electrode delivered discharge capacity of 247 mAh/g allowing about 0.74 lithium into the structure. The electrodes also delivered specific capacities of 122 and 72 mAh/g at 10 and 30C rates, respectively. Without conductive additives, this excellent performance can be attributed to the nanosize effect of TiO2 particles combined with the uniform porous architecture of the electrode. Upon cycling at high rates (10 and 30C), the electrode exhibited excellent cycling stability and retention, specifically only <?0.6% capacity loss per cycle over 2500 cycles.  相似文献

In this research, Cu-doped TiO2 thin films have been successfully deposited onto a glass substrate by Sol–gel technique using dip coating method. The films were annealed at different annealing temperatures (400–500 °C) for 1 h. The structural, optical and electrical properties of the films were investigated and compared using X-ray Diffraction, UV–visible spectrophotometer and 4-point probe method. Optical analysis by mean transmittance T(λ) and absorption A(λ) measurements in the wavelength range between 300 to 800 nm allow us to determine the indirect band gap energy. DRX analysis of our thin films of TiO2:Cu shows that the intensities of the line characteristic of anatase phase increasing in function of the temperature.  相似文献

The behavior of material constants in ferroelectric Ba0.8Sr0.2TiO3 thin films is studied depending on the misfit strain at room temperature in the context of nonlinear thermodynamic potential of the phenomenological theory. Some constants are found to undergo drastic changes with the alternating strain at the interfaces. The gathered results allow one to evaluate the material constants for a specific film and to outline the direction in searching the ways to synthesize films with the needed properties.  相似文献

Structural properties of amorphous TiO2 spherical nanoparticles have been studied in models with different sizes of 2 nm, 3 nm, 4 nm and 5 nm under non-periodic boundary conditions. We use the pairwise interatomic potentials proposed by Matsui and Akaogi. Models have been obtained by cooling from the melt via molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. Structural properties of an amorphous nanoparticle obtained at 350 K have been analyzed in detail through the partial radial distribution functions (PRDFs), coordination number distributions, bond-angle distributions and interatomic distances. Moreover, we show the radial density profile in a nanoparticle. Calculations show that size effects on structure of a model are significant and that if the size is larger than 3 nm, amorphous TiO2 nanoparticles have a distorted octahedral network structure with the mean coordination number ZTi-O ≈6.0 and ZO-Ti ≈3.0 like those observed in the bulk. Surface structure and surface energy of nanoparticles have been obtained and presented.  相似文献

Polycrystalline (Na0.5Sb0.5)TiO3 was prepared using a high-temperature solid-state reaction method. An XRD analysis indicated the formation of a single-phase monoclinic structure. Complex impedance studies revealed the presence of grain boundary effects from 300 °C onwards. Also, the dielectric relaxation in the system was found to be of a non-Debye type. The ac conductivity data were used to evaluate the density of states at the Fermi level, the minimum hopping length and activation energy of the compound. The dc electrical and thermal conductivities of grain and grain boundary have been assessed. The correlated barrier hopping model was found to successfully explain the mechanism of charge transport in (Na0.5Sb0.5)TiO3. PACS 72.20.Ee; 77.22.Ch; 77.22.Gm; 77.84.Dy; 81.05.Je  相似文献

The rheology of suspensions is critically important for the successful achievement of defect-free TiO2 deposits by electrophoretic deposition (EPD). The rheological behaviour of TiO2 nanoparticle suspensions in acetylacetone with and without iodine was investigated over a broad solid-concentration range (0.3–2.5 wt.%) and at different shear rates ( = 10–250 s−1). The influence of these parameters on the quality of TiO2 films obtained by EPD on stainless steel substrates was assessed. The pure solvent and the 1 wt.% TiO2 nanoparticles suspension without iodine exhibited shear-thickening flow behaviour. For other concentrations, the suspensions showed shear-thinning behaviour followed by an apparent shear-thickening effect at a critical shear rate (100 s−1). For the suspension with 1 wt.% TiO2 containing iodine, a shear-thickening flow behaviour was observed over the whole shear rate range investigated. The maximum solids fraction (ϕm) was experimentally determined from a linear relationship between solid concentration and viscosity. The estimated value was ϕm = 7.94 wt.% for this system. Using a suspension with 1 wt.% concentration, good-quality TiO2 deposits on stainless steel planar substrates were obtained by EPD at constant voltage condition. The influence of pH on suspension stability was determined in the range pH = 1–9, being pH ≈ 5 the optimal value for this system in terms of EPD results.  相似文献

Thermoelectric FeSb2 films were produced by pulsed laser deposition on silica substrates in a low-pressure Ar environment. The growth conditions for near phase-pure FeSb2 films were confirmed to be optimized at a substrate temperature of 425°C, an Ar pressure of 2 Pa, and deposition time of 3 h by ablating specifically prepared compound targets made of Fe and Sb powders in atomic ratio of 1:4. The thermoelectric transport properties of FeSb2 films were investigated. Pulsed laser deposition was demonstrated as a method for production of good-quality FeSb2 films.  相似文献

Complex impedance analysis of a valence-compensated perovskite ceramic oxide Na1/2Sm1/2TiO3, prepared by a mixed oxide (solid-state reaction) method, has been carried out. The formation of single-phase material was confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies, and it was found to be an orthorhombic phase at room temperature. In a scanning electron microscope, grains separated by well-defined boundaries are visible, which is in good agreement with that of impedance analysis. Alternating current impedance measurements were made over a wide temperature range (31–400 °C) in an air atmosphere. Complex impedance and modulus plots helped to separate out the contributions of grain and grain boundaries to the overall polarization or electrical behavior. The physical structure of the samples was visualized most prominently at higher temperatures (275 °C) from the Nyquist plots showing inter- and intragranular impedance present in the material. The frequency dependence of electrical data is also analyzed in the framework of the conductivity and modulus formalisms. The bulk resistance, evaluated from the impedance spectrum, was observed to decrease with rise in temperature, showing a typical negative temperature coefficient of resistance-type behavior like that of semiconductors. The modulus mechanism indicates the non-Debye type of conductivity relaxation in the materials, which is supported by the impedance data. We report the results of an analytical investigation on the bronze alloys of the Porta del Paradiso by Lorenzo Ghiberti using a portable X-ray fluorescence instrument. The study was carried out on five panels of the bronze artwork. It provided information on the artist’s selection of the sculptural alloys and on some manufacturing details of interest for understanding the development of the art foundry during the early Renaissance. The thin-film photocatalysts TiO2/MoO3 and TiO2/MoO3:V2O5 obtained by a combination of sol–gel and sintering techniques were studied using the photooxidation of probing dyes, EPR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, and electron microscopy. It was shown that due to charge accumulation caused by UV irradiation, these photocatalysts retain their oxidative activity and ability for self-sterilization in the dark for a long time after irradiation was terminated (up to 5 h for TiO2/MoO3:V2O5).  相似文献

Titanium oxides are used in a wide variety of technological applications where surface properties play a role. TiO2 surfaces, especially the (110) face of rutile, have become prototypical model systems in the surface science of metal oxides. Reduced TiO2 single crystals are easy to work with experimentally, and their surfaces have been characterized with virtually all surface-science techniques. Recently, TiO2 has also been used to refine computational ab initio approaches and to calculate properties of adsorption systems. Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) studies have shown that the surface structure of TiO2(110) is more complex than originally anticipated. The reduction state of the sample, i.e. the number and type of bulk defects, as well as the surface treatment (annealing in vacuum vs. annealing in oxygen), can give rise to different structures, such as two different (1×2) reconstructions, a ‘rosette’ overlayer, and crystallographic shear planes. Single point defects can be identified with STM and influence the surface chemistry in a variety of ways; the adsorption of water is discussed as one example. The growth of a large number of different metal overlayers has been studied on TiO2(110). Some of these studies have been instrumental in furthering the understanding of the ‘strong metal support interaction’ between group-VIII metals and TiO2, as well as low-temperature oxidation reactions on TiO2-supported nanoscopic gold clusters. The growth morphology, interfacial oxidation/reduction reaction, thermal stability, and geometric structure of ultra-thin metal overlayers follow general trends where the most critical parameter is the reactivity of the overlayer metal towards oxygen. It has been shown recently that the technologically more relevant TiO2 anatase phase can also be made accessible to surface investigations. Thin films of La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 were successfully grown epitaxially on (100) single-crystal SrTiO3 substrates by excimer-laser assisted metal-organic deposition. Initial amorphous LCMO thin films were obtained by metal-organic deposition at 500 °C. Crystallization and epitaxial growth of the films was achieved using a KrF pulsed laser irradiation while the film/substrate samples were kept at 500 °C. High resolution transmission electron microscopy observations on cross-sections demonstrate the formation mechanism of the epitaxial films. The crystallization process starts at the LCMO/STO interface and grows by increasing the number of laser shots. A fully crystallized film was obtained after 5 min of irradiation. The film/substrate interface was found to be sharp and abrupt. The temperature dependence of the resistance R(T) shows various behaviors, starting from insulating to semiconducting and metal–insulator transition material during the formation of the manganite film. The oxygen content was also improved by increasing the irradiation time. Promising values of the temperature coefficient of resistance were obtained from these manganite films for prospect integration in silicon based microbolometric devices. This paper deals with photocatalytic activity of silver treated TiO2 films. The TiO2 films were deposited on glass substrates by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) in a vacuum reactor with radio frequency (RF) low temperature plasma discharge in the mixture of oxygen and titanium isopropoxide vapors (TTIP). The depositions were performed under different deposition conditions. Subsequently, the surface of TiO2 films was modified by deposition of silver nanoparticles. Photocatalytic activity of both silver modified and unmodified TiO2 films was determined by decomposition of the model organic matter (acid orange 7). Selected TiO2 samples were used for tests of antibacterial activity. These tests were performed on Gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli. The results clearly proved that presence of silver clusters resulted in enhancement of the photocatalytic activity, which was up to four times higher than that for pure TiO2 films.  相似文献
