Let M~n(n ≥ 4) be an oriented closed submanifold with parallel mean curvature in an(n + p)-dimensional locally symmetric Riemannian manifold N~(n+p). We prove that if the sectional curvature of N is positively pinched in [δ, 1], and the Ricci curvature of M satisfies a pinching condition, then M is either a totally umbilical submanifold, or δ = 1, and N is of constant curvature. This result generalizes the geometric rigidity theorem due to Xu and Gu[15].  相似文献

In the class of real hypersurfaces M 2n?1 isometrically immersed into a nonflat complex space form \(\widetilde {{M_n}}\left( c \right)\) of constant holomorphic sectional curvature c (≠ 0) which is either a complex projective space ?P n (c) or a complex hyperbolic space ?H n (c) according as c > 0 or c < 0, there are two typical examples. One is the class of all real hypersurfaces of type (A) and the other is the class of all ruled real hypersurfaces. Note that the former example are Hopf manifolds and the latter are non-Hopf manifolds. In this paper, inspired by a simple characterization of all ruled real hypersurfaces in \(\widetilde {{M_n}}\left( c \right)\), we consider a certain real hypersurface of type (A2) in ?P n (c) and give a geometric characterization of this Hopf manifold.  相似文献

Let {X(t), t∈? N } be a fractional Brownian motion in ? d of index H. If L(0,I) is the local time of X at 0 on the interval I?? N , then there exists a positive finite constant c(=c(N,d,H)) such that
$m_\phi\bigl(X^{-1}(0)\cap I\bigr)=cL(0,I),$
where \(\phi(t)=t^{N-dH}(\log\log\frac{1}{t})^{dH/N}\), and m φ (E) is the Hausdorff φ-measure of E. This refines a previous result of Xiao (Probab. Theory Relat. Fields 109: 126–197, 1997) on the relationship between the local time and the Hausdorff measure of zero set for d-dimensional fractional Brownian motion on ? N .

Let \({f(x)=(x-a_1)\cdots (x-a_m)}\), where a 1, . . . , a m are distinct rational integers. In 1908 Schur raised the question whether f(x) ± 1 is irreducible over the rationals. One year later he asked whether \({(f(x))^{2^k}+1}\) is irreducible for every k ≥ 1. In 1919 Pólya proved that if \({P(x)\in\mathbb{Z}[x]}\) is of degree m and there are m rational integer values a for which 0 < |P(a)| < 2?N N! where \({N=\lceil m/2\rceil}\), then P(x) is irreducible. A great number of authors have published results of Schur-type or Pólya-type afterwards. Our paper contains various extensions, generalizations and improvements of results from the literature. To indicate some of them, in Theorem 3.1 a Pólya-type result is established when the ground ring is the ring of integers of an arbitrary imaginary quadratic number field. In Theorem 4.1 we describe the form of the factors of polynomials of the shape h(x) f(x) + c, where h(x) is a polynomial and c is a constant such that |c| is small with respect to the degree of h(x) f(x). We obtain irreducibility results for polynomials of the form g(f(x)) where g(x) is a monic irreducible polynomial of degree ≤ 3 or of CM-type. Besides elementary arguments we apply methods and results from algebraic number theory, interpolation theory and diophantine approximation.  相似文献

The local reconstruction from samples is one of most desirable properties for many applications in signal processing, but it has not been given as much attention. In this paper, we will consider the local reconstruction problem for signals in a shift-invariant space. In particular, we consider finding sampling sets X such that signals in a shift-invariant space can be locally reconstructed from their samples on X. For a locally finite-dimensional shift-invariant space V we show that signals in V can be locally reconstructed from its samples on any sampling set with sufficiently large density. For a shift-invariant space V(? 1, ..., ? N ) generated by finitely many compactly supported functions ? 1, ..., ? N , we characterize all periodic nonuniform sampling sets X such that signals in that shift-invariant space V(? 1, ..., ? N ) can be locally reconstructed from the samples taken from X. For a refinable shift-invariant space V(?) generated by a compactly supported refinable function ?, we prove that for almost all \((x_0, x_1)\in [0,1]^2\), any signal in V(?) can be locally reconstructed from its samples from \(\{x_0, x_1\}+{\mathbb Z}\) with oversampling rate 2. The proofs of our results on the local sampling and reconstruction in the refinable shift-invariant space V(?) depend heavily on the linear independent shifts of a refinable function on measurable sets with positive Lebesgue measure and the almost ripplet property for a refinable function, which are new and interesting by themselves.  相似文献

In this paper, the authors consider the asymptotic behavior of the monic polynomials orthogonal with respect to the weight function w(x) = |x|~(2α)e~(-(x~4+tx~2)),x ∈ R,where α is a constant larger than -1/2 and t is any real number. They consider this problem in three separate cases:(i) c -2,(ii) c =-2,and(iii) c -2,where c := t N~(-1/2) is a constant,N = n + α and n is the degree of the polynomial. In the first two cases, the support of the associated equilibrium measure μ_t is a single interval, whereas in the third case the support of μ_t consists of two intervals. In each case, globally uniform asymptotic expansions are obtained in several regions. These regions together cover the whole complex plane. The approach is based on a modified version of the steepest descent method for Riemann-Hilbert problems introduced by Deift and Zhou(1993).  相似文献

Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring, and let N be a non-zero finitely generated R-module. The purpose of this paper is to show that N is locally unmixed if and only if, for any N-proper ideal I of R generated by ht N I elements, the topology defined by (I N)(n), n ≥ 0, is linearly equivalent to the I-adic topology.  相似文献

Let M be either a simply connected pseudo-Riemannian space of constant curvature or a rank one Riemannian symmetric space, and consider the space L(M) of oriented geodesics of M. The space L(M) is a smooth homogeneous manifold and in this paper we describe all invariant symplectic structures, (para)complex structures, pseudo-Riemannian metrics and (para)Kähler structure on L(M).  相似文献

Assume that (N, ?) and (M, S) are two Riemann surfaces with conformal metrics ? and S. We prove that if there is a harmonic homeomorphism between an annulus A ? N with a conformal modulus Mod(A) and a geodesic annulus A S (p, ρ1, ρ2)?M, then we have ρ21 ≥ Ψ S Mod(A)2+ 1, where Ψ S is a certain positive constant depending on the upper bound of Gaussian curvature of the metric S. An application for the minimal surfaces is given.  相似文献

Let p be an odd prime and c a fixed integer with (c, p) = 1. For each integer a with 1 ≤ ap ? 1, it is clear that there exists one and only one b with 0 ? b ? p ? 1 such that abc (mod p). Let N(c, p) denote the number of all solutions of the congruence equation abc (mod p) for 1 ? a, b ? p?1 in which a and \(\overline b \) are of opposite parity, where \(\overline b \) is defined by the congruence equation b\(\overline b \) ≡ 1 (mod p). The main purpose of this paper is to use the properties of Dedekind sums and the mean value theorem for Dirichlet L-functions to study the hybrid mean value problem involving N(c, p)?½φ(p) and the Dedekind sums S(c, p), and to establish a sharp asymptotic formula for it.  相似文献

We obtain relations that define the equivalence algebra of the family of one-dimensional Boltzmann equations f t + cf x + F(t, x, c)f c = 0 and show that all equations of that form are locally equivalent. We carry out the group classification of the equation with respect to the function F in the special case where the function F and the transformations of the variables t and x are assumed to be independent of c. We show that, under such constraints for the transformation and the family of equations, the maximum possible symmetry algebra is eight-dimensional, which corresponds to an equation with a linear function F.  相似文献

In this note, we prove the following result. There is a positive constant ε(n, Λ) such that if M n is a simply connected compact Kähler manifold with sectional curvature bounded from above by Λ, diameter bounded from above by 1, and with holomorphic bisectional curvature H ≥ ?ε(n, Λ), then M n is diffeomorphic to the product M 1 × ? × M k , where each M i is either a complex projective space or an irreducible Kähler–Hermitian symmetric space of rank ≥ 2. This resolves a conjecture of Fang under the additional upper bound restrictions on sectional curvature and diameter.  相似文献

It is well known that a totally geodesic Lagrangian surface in a Lorentzian complex space form M12(4ε) of constant holomorphic sectional curvature 4s is of constant curvature 6. A natural question is "Besides totally geodesic ones how many Lagrangian surfaces of constant curvature εin M12(46) are there?" In an earlier paper an answer to this question was obtained for the case e = 0 by Chen and Fastenakels. In this paper we provide the answer to this question for the case ε≠0. Our main result states that there exist thirty-five families of Lagrangian surfaces of curvature ε in M12(4ε) with ε ≠ 0. Conversely, every Lagrangian surface of curvature ε≠0 in M12(4ε) is locally congruent to one of the Lagrangian surfaces given by the thirty-five families.  相似文献

Let ρ: G → O(V) be a real finite dimensional orthogonal representation of a compact Lie group, let σ = (σ 1, ?, σn): V → ? n , where σ 1, ?, σn n form a minimal system of homogeneous generators of the G-invariant polynomials on V, and set d = maxi deg σ i . We prove that for each C d?1,1-curve c in σ(V) ?? n there exits a locally Lipschitz lift over σ, i.e., a locally Lipschitz curve \( \overline{c} \) in V so that c = σ ° \( \overline{c} \), and we obtain explicit bounds for the Lipschitz constant of \( \overline{c} \) in terms of c. Moreover, we show that each C d -curve in σ(V) admits a C 1-lift. For finite groups G we deduce a multivariable version and some further results.  相似文献

We obtain a reduction of the vectorial Ribaucour transformation that preserves the class of submanifolds of constant sectional curvature of space forms, which we call the L-transformation. It allows to construct a family of such submanifolds starting with a given one and a vector-valued solution of a system of linear partial differential equations. We prove a decomposition theorem for the L-transformation, which is a far-reaching generalization of the classical permutability formula for the Ribaucour transformation of surfaces of constant curvature in Euclidean three space. As a consequence, we derive a Bianchi-cube theorem, which allows to produce, from k initial scalar L-transforms of a given submanifold of constant curvature, a whole k-dimensional cube all of whose remaining \(2^k-(k+1)\) vertices are submanifolds with the same constant sectional curvature given by explicit algebraic formulae. We also obtain further reductions, as well as corresponding decomposition and Bianchi-cube theorems, for the classes of n-dimensional flat Lagrangian submanifolds of \({\mathbb {C}}^n\) and n-dimensional Lagrangian submanifolds with constant curvature c of the complex projective space \({\mathbb {C}}{\mathbb {P}}^n(4c)\) or the complex hyperbolic space \({\mathbb {C}}{\mathbb {H}}^n(4c)\) of complex dimension n and constant holomorphic curvature 4c.  相似文献

In a two-dimensional local field K containing the pth root of unity, a polynomial formal group F c (X, Y) = X + Y + cXY acting on the maximal ideal M of the ring of integers б K and a constructive Hilbert pairing {·, ·} c : K 2(K) × F c (M) → <ξ> c , where <ξ> c is the module of roots of [p] c (pth degree isogeny of F c ) with respect to formal summation are considered. For the extension of two-dimensional local fields L/K, a norm map of Milnor groups Norm: K 2(L) → K 2(K) is considered. Its images are called norms in K 2(L). The main finding of this study is that the norm property of pairing {·, ·}c: {x,β} c : = 0 ? x is a norm in K 2(K([p] c -1 (β))), where [p] c -1 (β) are the roots of the equation [p] c = β, is checked constructively.  相似文献

We investigate the equiconvergence on TN = [?π, π)N of expansions in multiple trigonometric Fourier series and in the Fourier integrals of functions fLp(TN) and gLp(RN), p > 1, N ≥ 3, g(x) = f(x) on TN, in the case where the “partial sums” of these expansions, i.e., Sn(x; f) and Jα(x; g), respectively, have “numbers” n ∈ ZN and α ∈ RN (nj = [αj], j = 1,..., N, [t] is the integral part of t ∈ R1) containing N ? 1 components which are elements of “lacunary sequences.”  相似文献

For a finite group G denote by N(G) the set of conjugacy class sizes of G. In 1980s, J.G.Thompson posed the following conjecture: If L is a finite nonabelian simple group, G is a finite group with trivial center and N(G) = N(L), then G ? L. We prove this conjecture for an infinite class of simple groups. Let p be an odd prime. We show that every finite group G with the property Z(G) = 1 and N(G) = N(A i ) is necessarily isomorphic to A i , where i ∈ {2p, 2p + 1}.  相似文献

An r-dynamic coloring of a graph G is a proper coloring c of the vertices such that |c(N(v))| ≥ min {r, deg(v)}, for each vV (G). The r-dynamic chromatic number of a graph G is the smallest k such that G admits an r-dynamic coloring with k colors. In this paper, we obtain the r-dynamic chromatic number of the line graph of helm graphs Hn for all r between minimum and maximum degree of Hn. Moreover, our proofs are constructive, what means that we give also polynomial time algorithms for the appropriate coloring. Finally, as the first, we define an equivalent model for edge coloring.  相似文献

Let c be a non-closed and bounded geodesic in a complete Riemannian manifold M. Assume that c is invariant under an isometry A of M and that c is not contained in the set of fixed points of A. We prove that, for some \({k\ge 2}\), the geodesic flow line ? corresponding to c is dense in a k-dimensional torus N embedded in TM. In particular, every geodesic with initial vector in N is A-invariant.  相似文献
