A PVC membrane incorporating p-tert-butyl calix[4]crown with imine units as an ionophore was prepared and used in an ion-selective electrode for the determination of mercury(II) ions. An electrode based on this ionophore showed a good potentiometric response for mercury(II) ions over a wide concentration range of 5.0 x 10(-5) - 1.0 x 10(-1) M with a near-Nernstian slope of 27.3 mV per decade. The detection limit of the electrode was 2.24 x 10(-5) M and the electrode worked well in the pH range of 1.3 - 4.0. The electrode showed a short response time of less than 20 s. The electrode also showed better selectivity for mercury(II) ions over many of the alkali (Na+, -1.69; K+, -1.54), alkaline-earth (Ca2+, -3.30; Ba2+, -3.32), and heavy metal ions (Co2+, -3.67; Ni2+, -3.43; Pb2+, -3.31; Fe3+, -1.82). Ag+ ion was found to be the strongest interfering ion. Also, sharp end points were obtained when the sensor was used as an indicator electrode for the potentiometric titration of mercury(II) ions with iodide and dichromate ions.  相似文献

The preparation of a lead-selective electrode based on 5,11,17,23-tetra-tert-butyl-25,26,27,28-tetrakis-(diphenylphosphinoylmethoxy)calix[4]arene (1) as an ionophore is reported. The plasticized PVC membrane containing 30% PVC, 57% ortho-nitrophenyloctylether (NPOE), 4% sodium tetraphenylborate (NaTPB) and 9% ionophore 1 was directly coated on a graphite electrode. It exhibits a nearly Nernstian slope of 28.0 +/- 0.2 mV decade(-1) over a concentration range of 1 x 10(-5) - 1 x 10(-2) mol dm(-3) with a detection limit of 1.4 x 10(-6) mol dm(-3). The response time of the electrode was found to be ca. 17 s. The potential of the sensor was independent of the pH variation in the range 3.5 - 5.0. The selectivity of the electrode performance towards lead ions over Th4+, La3+, Sm3+, Dy3+, Y3+, Ca2+, Sr2+, Cd2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, Ni2+, Co2+, NH4+ Ag+, Li+, Na+ and K+ ions was investigated. The prepared electrode was used successfully as an indicator electrode for a potentiometric titration of a lead solution using a standard solution of EDTA. The applicability of the sensor for Pb2+ measurements in various synthetic water samples spiked with lead nitrate was also checked.  相似文献

The preparation of a lead-selective electrode based on bis(1'-hydroxy-2'-acetonaphthone)-2,2'-diiminodiethylamine (L) as sensing material is reported. The plasticized PVC membrane containing 30% PVC, 67% ortho-nitrophenyloctylether (NPOE) and 3% ionophore L was directly coated on a graphite rod. This electrode exhibits a nearly Nernstian slope of 27.8+/-0.2 mV decade(-1) over a concentration range 10(-6)-10(-2) M with a detection limit of 4.0 x 10(-7) M. The response time of the electrode was found to be <20 s. The potential of the sensor was independent on pH variations in the range 5-7. The selectivity of the electrode towards lead ions over Na+, K+, Ag+, Ca2+, Sr2+, Fe2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, La3+, Sm3+ and Er3+ ions was investigated. The prepared electrode was successfully used as an indicator for titration of a lead solution with a standard solution of EDTA. The applicability of the sensor for Pb2+ measurement in various synthetic and real samples has been also demonstrated.  相似文献

A plasticized Cr3+ ion sensor by incorporating 2,3,8,9-tetraphenyl-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododeca-1,3,7,9-tetraene (TTCT) ionophore exhibits a good potentiometric response for Cr3+ over a wide concentration range (1.0 x 10(-6)-1.0 x 10(-1) M) with a slope of 19.5 mV per decade. The sensor response is stable for at least three months. Good selectivity for Cr3+ in comparison with alkali, alkaline earth, transition and heavy metal ions, and minimal interference are caused by Li+, Na+, K+, Co2+, Hg2+, Ca2+, Pb2+ and Zn2+ ions, which are known to interfere with other chromium membrane sensors. The TTCT-based electrode shows a fast response time (15 s), and can be used in aqueous solutions of pH 3-5.5. The proposed sensor was used for the potentiometric titration of Cr3+ with EDTA and for a direct potentiometric determination of Cr3+ content in environmental samples.  相似文献

The complexation of five recently synthesized hydroxy-thioxanthone derivatives with Al3+ ion was studied in a methanol solution spectrophotometrically, and the stepwise formation constants of the resulting 1:1 and 2:1 (ligand-to-metal) complexes were evaluated. The suitability of the thioxanthone derivatives as neutral ionophores for the preparation of a new Al3+ ion-selective PVC-membrane electrode was investigated, and 1-hydroxy-3-methyl-thiocanthone was selected as the best compound for this purpose. The prepared electrode exhibits a Nernstian response for Al3+ ions over a wide concentration range (2.0 x 10(-2) to 2.0 x 10(-6) M), with a limit of detection of 1.0 x 10(-6) M. It has a very fast response time of about 5 s and can be used for at least 3 months without any considerable divergence in the potentials. The proposed membrane sensor revealed very good selectivities for Al3+ over a wide variety of other metal ions, and could be used at a working pH range of 3.4 - 5.0. It was used as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of aluminum ions with EDTA, and in the determination of Al3+ in different real samples.  相似文献

The performance of a newly synthesized carbosilane dendrimer bearing four triethylene glycol ether (TEG) units, Si(CH2CH2CH2Si(Me)2CH2CH2CH2(OCH2CH2)3Me)4 (1), as ionophores in ion-selective electrodes has been investigated. Optimization of the plasticized polyvinyl chloride membrane composition has produced electrodes that exhibit a Nernstian response for potassium ions. The best general characteristics exhibited by the electrodes were found when the membrane composition ratio of DPE:1:NaTPB:PVC 60:3:2:35 (wt%) was used. The response of the electrode was linear with a Nernstian slope of 58.3 mV/decade over the K+ ion concentration range of 1.9x10(-7) to 1.0x10(-1) M with a detection limit of 3.1x10(-7) M. The response time to achieve a 95% steady potential for the K+ concentration ranging from 1.0x10(-1) to 1.0x10(-8) M was less than 10 s, and it was found that the electrode is suitable for use within a pH range of 5.5-8.5. The selectivity coefficients (log KPotK+,Mn+)), which were determined by the fixed interference method, showed good selectivity for K+ against most of the interfering cations. The influence of this selective ion-binding behavior using electrospray ionization time-of-flight (ESI-TOF) mass spectrometric studies is discussed.  相似文献

Groups of dioxadicarboxylic diamides, which were developed as potential ionophores for inorganic cations, were found to act as ionophores for a stimulant, phentermine. Especially, N,N-dioctadecyl-N',N'-dipropyl-3,6-dioxaoctanediamide, which was originally developed as a lead ionophore and is commercially available from Fluka as lead ionophore I, was suitable for making a phentermine-selective electrode. The electrode constructed using this ionophore and bis(2-ethylhexyl) sebacate as a solvent mediator in a poly(vinyl chloride) membrane matrix discriminated between phentermine and analogous compounds more effectively than an electrode based on dibenzo-18-crown-6, a representative ionophore for organic ammonium ions. Moreover, the present electrode showed remarkably little interference by inorganic cations, such as Na+ and K+, as well as lipophilic quaternary ammonium ions including (C2H5)4N+ and (C3H7)4N+. The electrode exhibited a near-Nernstian response to phentermine in the concentration range of 2 x 10(-6) to 1 x 10(-2) M with a slope of 54.8 mV per concentration decade in 0.1 M MgCl2. The lower limit of detection was 7 x 10(-7) M. This electrode was applied to determine phentermine in a cationic-exchange resin complex of this stimulant, which is the general dosage form in medical use.  相似文献

A novel poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) membrane electrode based on naphto-9-crown-3 was prepared and tested for the selective detection of beryllium ions. A suitable lipophilicity of the carrier and appropriate coordination ability were found to be essential for designing an electrode with good response characteristics. A PVC membrane with 9% naphtho-9-crown-3 carrier, 58% o-NPOE plasticizer, 3% tetraphenylborate anionic excluder and 30% poly(vinyl chloride) satisfied these requirements. The proposed sensor displayed a linear response to beryllium over a wide concentration range of 1.0 x 10(-1)-8.0 x 10(-6) M with a Nernstian slope of 29.5 mV per decade. The electrode showed very short response time (<15 s) and could be used in the pH range 3.5-9.0. The selectivity coefficient for alkali, alkaline earth, transition and heavy metal ions was smaller than 4.0 x 10(-4). The sensor was successfully used as an indicator electrode in the potentiometric titration of Be2+ with EDTA. The proposed Be(II) sensor was also used for the determination of Be2+ ions in binary mixtures.  相似文献

A new tetradentate dihydrogen perchlorate macrocyclic ligand (2,4,9,11-tetraphenyl-1,5,8,12-tetraazacyclotetradeca-1,4,8,11-tetraene dihydrogen perchlorate) was prepared and characterised. The macrocycle behaves as a selective chelating ion-exchanger for some metal ions. The polystyrene-based membrane electrode is found to exhibit quite promising selectivity for Cr3+ ions. It can be used to estimate chromium concentrations in the range 3.16x 10(-6)-1.00x10(-1) M with a near-Nernstian slope of 17.5 mV per decade of concentration between pH 3.0 to 6.5. The electrode is found to possess a fast response time of 15 s and was used over a period of three months with good reproducibility (s = +/- 0.3 mV). The selectivity coefficient values for mono-, di- and trivalent cations indicate excellent selectivity for Cr3+ ions over a large number of other cations. Anions such as Cl- and SO4(2-) do not interfere and the electrode also works satisfactorily in a mixed organic-water solution. The sensor has been used as an indicator electrode for the potentiometric titration of Cr3+ with EDTA. The practical utility of the membrane sensor has also been demonstrated in solutions contaminated with detergents (CTAB and SDS). Above all, the membrane sensor has been very successfully used to determine Cr3+ in some foods.  相似文献

A novel ion-selective PVC membrane sensor for Al(III) ions based on 6-(4-nitrophenyl)-2-phenyl-4-(thiophen-2-yl)-3,5-diaza-bicyclo[3.1.0]hex-2-ene (NTDH) as a new ionophore has been prepared and studied. The electrode exhibit a good response for aluminum ion over concentration range of 1.0x10(-6) to 1.0x10(-1) mol L(-1) with a Nernstian slope of 19.6+/-0.4 mV per decade and low detection limit of 6.3x10(-7) mol L(-1). The best performance was obtained with membrane composition 30% poly(vinyl chloride), 62% acetophenone, 5% oleic acid, 3% ionophore and 2 ml tetrahydrofuran. NTDH-based electrode was suitable for aqueous solutions of pH 3. It has relatively fast response time (approximately 10 s) and can be used at least for 3 months without any considerable divergence in potentials. The proposed membrane electrode revealed good selectivity for Al(III) ions over a wide variety of other cations. The standard electrode potentials were determined at different temperatures and used to calculate the isothermal coefficient of the electrode. The formation constant and stoichiometry ratio of ionophore-Al(III) complex were calculated at 25 degrees C by using segmented sandwich membrane method. It was used in non-aqueous solvents and also as indicator electrode in potentiometric determination of Al(III) ions in some real samples.  相似文献

Room-temperature rate coefficients and product distributions are reported for the reactions of ozone with the cations and dications of the alkaline-earth metals Ca, Sr, and Ba. The measurements were performed with a selected-ion flow tube (SIFT) tandem mass spectrometer in conjunction with either an electrospray (ESI) or an inductively coupled plasma (ICP) ionization source. All the singly charged species react with ozone by O-atom transfer and form monoxide cations rapidly, k = 4.8, 6.7, and 8.7 x 10(-10) cm3 molecule(-1) s(-1) for the reactions of Ca+, Sr+, and Ba+, respectively. Further sequential O-atom transfer occurs to form dioxide and trioxide cations. The efficiencies for all O-atom transfer reactions are greater than 10%. The data also signify the catalytic conversion of ozone to oxygen with the alkaline-earth metal and metal oxide cations serving as catalysts. Ca2+ reacts rapidly with O3 by charge separation to form CaO+ and O2+ with a rate coefficient of k = 1.5 x 10(-9) cm3 molecule(-1) s(-1). In contrast, the reactions of Sr2+ and Ba2+ are found to be slow and add O3, (k >/= 1.1 x 10-11 cm3 molecule-1 s-1). The initial additions are followed by the rapid sequential addition of up to five O3 molecules with values of k between 1 and 5 x 10(-10) cm3 molecule(-1) s(-1). Metal/ozone cluster ions as large as Sr2+(O3)5 and Ba2+(O3)4 were observed for the first time.  相似文献

A new PVC membrane potentiometric sensor that is highly selective to Fe(III) ions was prepared by using 2-[(2-hydroxy-1-propenyl-buta-1,3-dienylimino)-methyl]-4-p-tolylazo-phenol [HPDTP] as a suitable carrier. The electrode exhibits a linear response for iron(III) ions over a wide concentration range (3.5 × 10−6 to 4.0 × 10−2) with a super Nernstian slope of 28.5 (±0.5) per decade. The electrode can be used in the pH range from 4.5 to 6.5. The proposed sensor shows fairly a good discriminating ability towards Fe3+ ion in comparison to some hard and soft metals such as Fe2+, Cd2+, Cu2+, Al3+ and Ca2+. It has a response time of <15 s and can be used for at least 2 months without any measurable divergence in response characteristics. The electrode was used in the direct determination of Fe3+ in aqueous samples and as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of Fe(III) ions.  相似文献

Cu2+ selective PVC membrane electrode based on new Schiff base 2, 2'-[1,9 nonanediyl bis (nitriloethylidyne)]-bis-(1-naphthol) as a selective carrier was constructed. The electrode exhibited a linear potential response within the activity range of 1.0 x 10(-6) - 5.0 x 10(-3) moll(-1) with a Nernstian slope of 29 +/- 1 mV decade(-1) of Cu2+ activity and a limit of detection 8.0 x 10(-7) mol l(-1). The response time of the electrode was fast, 10 s, and stable potentials were obtained within the pH range of 3.5- 6.5. The potentiometric selectivity coefficients were evaluated using two solution method and revealed no important interferences except for Ag+ ion. The proposed electrode was applied as an indicator electrode to potentiometric titration of Cu2+ ions and determination of Cu2+ content in real samples such as black tea leaves and multivitamin capsule.  相似文献

A new heterogeneous precipitate of an organic-inorganic composite cation-exchanger poly-o-toluidine Zr(IV) phosphate was utilized for the preparation of a Hg(II) ion-sensitive membrane electrode for the determination of Hg(II) ions in real aqueous as well as in real samples. The electrode showed good potentiometric response characteristics, and displayed a linear log[Hg(2+)] versus EMF response over a wide concentration range of 1 x 10(-1) - 1 x 10(-6) M with a Nernstian slope of 30 mV per decade change in concentration with a detection limit of 1 x 10(-6). The membrane electrode showed a very fast response time of 5 s and could be operated well in the pH range 2 - 8. The selectivity coefficients were determined by the mixed-solution method, and revealed that the electrode was selective in the presence of interfering cations; however most of these did not show significant interference in the concentration range of 1 x 10(-1) - 1 x 10(-4) M. The lifetime of the membrane electrode was observed to be 120 days. The analytical utility of this electrode was established by employing it as an indicator electrode in the potentiometric titrations of Hg(2+) ions from a synthetic mixture as well as drain water.  相似文献

Abstract

In this study, a new ion-selective electrode for Sm3+ is described, illustrating 2-[(E)-1-(1H-pyrrol-2-yl)methylidene]-1-hydrazinecarbothioamide (PMH) in a poly(vinylchloride) (PVC) membrane with nitrobenzene (NB) as a plasticizer and sodium tetraphenyl borate (NaTPB) as an anionic additive. The proposed sensor exhibited a Nernstian response for Sm3+ ions over a wide concentration range between 1.0 × 10?2 and 1 × 10?6 M, with a detection limit of 5.2 × 10?7 M in the pH range of 4.2–8.5. Moreover, the sensor displayed the Nernstian slope of 19.8 ± 0.3 mV per decade, having a fast response time within 10 s over the entire concentration range. This electrode presented very good selectivity and sensitivity toward the Sm3+ ions over a wide variety of cations, including alkali, alkaline earth, transition-metal, and heavy-metal ions. It was used as an indicator electrode in the potentiometric titration of Sm3+ ions with EDTA. The membrane sensor was also applied to the determination of fluoride ions in mouthwash samples.  相似文献

A copper(II) ion-selective electrode based on a recently synthesized 2-quinolyl-2-phenylglyoxal-2-oxime (phenylglyoxal-alpha-monoxime) has been developed. The PVC-based membrane containing phenylglyoxal-alpha-monoxime, dibutyl phthalate as plasticizer, and sodium tetraphenylborate as anion excluder and membrane modifier, was directly coated on the surface of a platinum-wire electrode. The response of the electrode was linear with a near-Nernstian slope of 28.2 mV decade(-1) within the Cu2+ ion concentration range 1x10(-6)-1x10(-1) mol x L(-1). The response time for the proposed electrode to achieve a 95% steady potential for Cu2+ concentrations ranging from 1x10(-1) to 1x10(-6) mol x L(-1) is between 10 and 50 s, and the electrode is suitable for use within the pH range of 3 to 6.5. The electrode has a detection limit of 5x10(-7) mol x L(-1) Cu2+ and its selectivity relative to several alkali, alkaline earth, transition, and heavy metal ions was good. The coated-wire electrode could be used for at least two months without a considerable alteration of its potential. Applications of the electrode for determination of copper in milk powder samples and as an indicator electrode for potentiometric titration of Cu2+ ion using EDTA are reported.  相似文献

The performance of octahydroxycalix[4]arene derivative used as a neutral carrier for silver polymeric membrane electrode was studied. The sensor gave a good Nernstian response of 58 +/- 1 mV per decade for silver ion in the activity range 3.3 x 10(-6) to 3.3 x 10(-2) M Ag+. The limit of detection reached 2.1 x 10(-6) M Ag+ and exhibited high selectivity for silver ion against the alkali, alkaline earth and transition metal ions. The sensor can be used in wide pH range from 1.5 to 6.5. The response time of the sensor is less than 20 s. The potentiometric sensor was used as the indicator electrode in the titration of Ag+ ions by sodium chloride solution.  相似文献
