A fiber taper can evanescently couple to whispering gallery modes (WGMs) in a planar silica microdisk for observing the optical properties of the microdisk cavity.It is revealed that WGMs have very high quality (Q) factors by controlling the air gap between the taper and the microdisk.The best coupling efficiency from the taper to the microdisk is as high as 98%,and can be continuously adjusted from the under-coupling,critical-coupling to over-coupling regimes.The influence of the laboratory circumstance such as surface contamination on the microdisk is also discussed.It is experimentally shown that the high-Q-factor (10~5) modes can be kept for a long period in a general laboratory circumstance.  相似文献

Embedded fiber retraction was used to investigate the interfacial tension and fiber lifetime of an immiscible polyester/polyamide system, with and without ionic functionality incorporated onto the polyester as compatibilizing groups. The ionic groups reduce the interfacial tension of the system from 7.55 dyne/cm to 1.49 dyne/cm when incorporated at 5.5 mole% into the polyester. In addition, fiber lifetime increased by a factor of 4–5 with the incorporation of ionic functionality. These results correlate extremely well with previously published observations of the ionomer‐compatibilized blends and confirm the influence of interfacial tension on blend morphology. The initial aspect ratio of the fiber should be between three and 12 for consistent and reproducible results.  相似文献

A fiber Bragg grating(FBG)hydrophone with high sensitivity was demonstrated.This hydrophone used a rubber diaphragm and a copper hard core as the sensing element.To compensate the hydrostatic pressure, a capillary tube was fixed at the end of the hydrophone.Theoretical analysis of the acoustic pressure sensitivity was given in this letter.Experiments were carried out to test the frequency response of the hydrophone.The result shows that when the Young's modulus of the diaphragm is higher,a flatter frequency response will be obtained.  相似文献

The transmission spectra of multiply π phase-shifted long-period fiber gratings (LPFG's) are analyzed by a combination of coupled-mode theory and the fundamental matrix method. A diode laser (LD) clad-pumped narrow linewidth all-fiber Tm^3+-doped fiber laser is reported with a maximal output power of 27W at 1.947μm. By successively splicing an LD pigtail fiber, a single-mode Tm^3+-doped fiber, and a multi-mode Tm^3+-doped fiber, the fiber laser has 70pm narrow linewidth output, and a high slope efficiency of nearly 47.5% with respect to the launched pump power. The high reflectivity fiber Bragg gratings, which are directly written into the single-mode Tm^3+-doped fiber core by the 800nm femtosecond pulsed laser, act as the high reflectivity coupler. The output laser has diffraction-limited beam quality with a factor M^2 of 1.29, when the output laser power is nearly 27W.  相似文献
