This paper is devoted to the negative flows of the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger hierarchy (DNLSH). The main result of this work is the functional representation of the extended DNLSH, composed of both positive (classical) and negative flows. We derive a finite set of functional equations, constructed by means of the Miwa's shifts, which contains all equations of the hierarchy. Using the obtained functional representation we convert the nonlocal equations of the negative subhierarchy into local ones of higher order, derive the generating function of the conservation laws and the N-soliton solutions for the extended DNLSH under non-vanishing boundary conditions.  相似文献

We investigate spontaneous symmetry breaking of a zero mass free Lagrangian within a functional formalism. We find that the boundary conditions of field solutions are responsible for the spontaneous symmetry breaking and this can be incorporated naturally in a functional method.  相似文献

In 1957 Abrikosov published his work on periodic solutions to the linearized Ginzburg-Landau equations. Abrikosov's analysis assumes periodic boundary conditions, which are very different from the natural boundary conditions the minimizer of the Ginzburg-Landau energy functional should satisfy. In the present work we prove that the global minimizer of the fully non-linear functional can be approximated, in every rectangular subset of the domain, by one of the periodic solution to the linearized Ginzburg-Landau equations in the plane. Furthermore, we prove that the energy of this solution is close to the minimum of the energy over all Abrikosov's solutions in that rectangle.  相似文献

We use boundary weights and reflection equations to obtain families of commuting double-row transfer matrices for interaction-round-a-face models with fixed boundary conditions. In particular, we consider the fusion hierarchy of the Andrews-Baxter-Forrester (ABF) models, for which we obtain diagonal, elliptic solutions to the reflection equations, and find that the double-row transfer matrices satisfy functional equations with the same form as in the case of periodic boundary conditions.  相似文献

We present analytic solutions of optical Bloch equations. We found that the solutions exhibit two different types of the behavior: one is oscillatory, and the other is a simple decay. The boundary dividing the two different types of solutions is exactly calculated in a two-dimensional space of the laser detuning and Rabi frequency. We also obtained simple analytic solutions for special conditions.  相似文献

We formulate the functional Bethe ansatz for bosonic (infinite dimensional) representations of the Yang–Baxter algebra. The main deviation from the standard approach consists in a half infinite Sklyanin lattice made of the eigenvalues of the operator zeros of the Bethe annihilation operator. By a separation of variables, functional TQ-equations are obtained for this half infinite lattice. They provide valuable information about the spectrum of a given Hamiltonian model. We apply this procedure to integrable spin–boson models subject to both twisted and open boundary conditions. In the case of general twisted and certain open boundary conditions polynomial solutions to these TQ-equations are found and we compute the spectrum of both the full transfer matrix and its quasi-classical limit. For generic open boundaries we present a two-parameter family of Bethe equations, derived from TQ-equations that are compatible with polynomial solutions for Q. A connection of these parameters to the boundary fields is still missing.  相似文献

One of the main interest in quantum cosmology is to determine boundary conditions for the wave function of the universe which can predict observational data of our universe. For this purpose, we solve the Wheeler–DeWitt equation for a closed universe with a scalar field numerically and evaluate probabilities for boundary conditions of the wave function of the universe. To impose boundary conditions of the wave function, we use exact solutions of the Wheeler–DeWitt equation with a constant scalar field potential. These exact solutions include wave functions with well known boundary condition proposals, the no-boundary proposal and the tunneling proposal. We specify the exact solutions by introducing two real parameters to discriminate boundary conditions, and obtain the probability for these parameters under the requirement of sufficient e-foldings of the inflation. The probability distribution of boundary conditions prefers the tunneling boundary condition to the no-boundary boundary condition. Furthermore, for large values of a model parameter related to the inflaton mass and the cosmological constant, the probability of boundary conditions selects an unique boundary condition different from the tunneling type.  相似文献

We consider N=1 supersymmetric sine-Gordon theory (SSG) with supersymmetric integrable boundary conditions (boundary SSG=BSSG). We find two possible ways to close the boundary bootstrap for this model, corresponding to two different choices for the boundary supercharge. We argue that these two bootstrap solutions should correspond to the two integrable Lagrangian boundary theories considered recently by Nepomechie.  相似文献

We investigate the thermodynamics of the slowly rotating Kerr-Newman (K-N) black hole in the grand canonical ensemble with York's formalism. Some thermodynamical properties, such as the thermodynamical action, entropy, thermodynamical energy and heat capacity are studied, and solutions of the slowly rotating K-N black hole with different boundary conditions are analysed. We find stable solutions and instantons under certain boundary conditions.  相似文献

We derive duality relations for the generating functional of correlation-functions for disordered (“frustrated”) lattice Higgs and gauge models with arbitrary locally compact abelian symmetry groups. We examine the effects on duality of nontrivial lattice topology and of configurational boundary conditions. Technically, we employ some elementary concepts borrowed from algebraic topology. Combined with Fourier expansions on groups, they provide tools to handle functions on lattices in a very efficient way. We consider scalar quantum fields with exponential interaction on Euclidean hyperbolic space ${\mathbb{H}^2}$ in two dimensions. Using decoupling inequalities for Neumann boundary conditions on a tessellation of ${\mathbb{H}^2}$ , we are able to show that the infra-red limit for the generating functional of the conformal boundary field becomes trivial.  相似文献

We consider in this article a Cahn-Hilliard model in a bounded domain with non-permeable walls, characterized by dynamic-type boundary conditions. Dynamic boundary conditions for the Cahn-Hilliard system have recently been proposed by physicists in order to account for the interactions with the walls in confined systems and are obtained by writing that the total bulk mass is conserved and that there is a relaxation dynamics on the boundary. However, in the case of non-permeable walls, one should also expect some mass on the boundary. It thus seems more realistic to assume that the total mass, in the bulk and on the boundary, is conserved, which leads to boundary conditions of a different type. For the resulting mathematical model, we prove the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions and study their asymptotic behavior as time goes to infinity.  相似文献

Here we present a system of coupled phase oscillators with nearest neighbors coupling, which we study for different boundary conditions. We concentrate at the transition to the total synchronization. We are able to develop exact solutions for the value of the coupling parameter when the system becomes completely synchronized, for the case of periodic boundary conditions as well as for a chain with fixed ends. We consider natural convection of an incompressible fluid in a porous medium described by the planar Darcy equation. For some boundary conditions, Darcy problem may have non-unique solutions in form of a continuous family of steady states. We are interested in the situation when these boundary conditions are violated. The resulting destruction of the family of steady states is studied via computer experiments based on a mimetic finite-difference approach. Convection in a rectangular enclosure is considered under different perturbations of boundary conditions (heat sources, infiltration). Two scenario of the family of equilibria are found: the transformation to a limit cycle and the formation of isolated convective patterns.  相似文献

For a thermal field theory formulated in the grand canonical ensemble, the distribution of the total momentum is an observable characterizing the thermal state. We show that its cumulants are related to thermodynamic potentials. In a relativistic system, for instance, the thermal variance of the total momentum is a direct measure of the enthalpy. We relate the generating function of the cumulants to the ratio of (a) a partition function expressed as a Matsubara path integral with shifted boundary conditions in the compact direction and (b) the ordinary partition function. In this form the generating function is well suited for Monte Carlo evaluation, and the cumulants can be extracted straightforwardly. We test the method in the SU(3) Yang-Mills theory and obtain the entropy density at three different temperatures.  相似文献

We study boundary conditions in ${\mathcal{N}}=4$ super Yang-Mills theory that preserve one-half the supersymmetry. The obvious Dirichlet boundary conditions can be modified to allow some of the scalar fields to have a “pole” at the boundary. The obvious Neumann boundary conditions can be modified by coupling to additional fields supported at the boundary. The obvious boundary conditions associated with orientifolds can also be generalized. In preparation for a separate study of how electric-magnetic duality acts on these boundary conditions, we explore moduli spaces of solutions of Nahm’s equations that appear in the presence of a boundary. Though our main interest is in boundary conditions that are Lorentz-invariant (to the extent possible in the presence of a boundary), we also explore non-Lorentz-invariant but half-BPS deformations of Neumann boundary conditions. We make preliminary comments on the action of electric-magnetic duality, deferring a more serious study to a later paper.  相似文献

We establish the connection between the generating functional for the first class theories and the generating functional for the second class theories using the finite field dependent BRST (FFBRST) transformation. We show this connection with the help of explicit calculations in two different models. The generating functional of the Proca model is obtained from the generating functional of the Stueckelberg theory for massive spin 1 vector field using FFBRST transformation. In the other example we relate the generating functionals for gauge invariant and gauge variant theories for a self-dual chiral boson.  相似文献
