The geometric properties of the solution set of Lyapunov equation of linear time-invariant discrete system are discussed. Furthermore, the stabitility of piecewise linear discrete systems is studied and some sufficient conditions are obtained for the asymptotical stability of piecewise linear discrete systems in which each sub-system is stable. Small linear interactions affecting the propogation of waves in a linear elastic fluid are investigated. These linear interactions may occur as a result of impurities on the surface of a linear elastic fluid. These interactions are imposed on the linear wave equations which were investigated in Momoniat (Propogation of waves in a linear elastic fluid, submitted for publication) using the non-classical contact symmetry method. The occurrence of a small parameter in the wave equations under consideration in this paper makes the problem ideal for analysis using an approximate non-classical contact symmetry method. Approximate contact symmetries and approximate solutions are determined and discussed for the problems under consideration. Comparisons are made with the case of no interaction.  相似文献

We investigate the linear and non-linear rheological behavior in shear of a concentrated solution of ??dumbbell?? polystyrene with long linear backbone and dense short brushes at both ends and compare it with corresponding linear polymers. This type of dumbbells has never been rheologically characterized before. In linear viscoelasticity, the dumbbell polymers show significant differences with conventional linear polymers. In particular, the reptation relaxation of the dumbbell is strongly slowed down. Furthermore, the addition of the side chains increases the friction so that the dumbbell lies above the ?? 0 vs. number of entanglements relation of linear samples. Transient shear rheology experiments on weakly entangled solutions show a retardation of the chain stretch relaxation of the dumbbell by a factor 2.5 vs. a linear polymer with the same Rouse time. Additionally, a second peak in the transient viscosity is observed at high shear rates.  相似文献

通过对现有某车用液压阻尼器的实验研究和车辆悬架系统动力学仿真研究,发现这种阻尼器的动力学特性存在复杂的非线性行为。为准确描述这类阻尼器的动力学特性和进行汽车悬架系统的动力学仿真研究,本文根据阻尼器的实验数据,提出一种新型四段线性化阻尼器模型,并建立其相应的数学模型。通过汽车悬架系统的动力学仿真研究表明,采用四段线性化阻尼器模型,汽车悬架系统簧载质量在不同路面不平度函数作用下的加速度响应和均方根加速度响应随频率变化不会出现大的波动。与等效线性化阻尼器模型相比,四段线性化阻尼器模型,能较好降低汽车悬架系统簧载质量的加速度响应和均方根加速度响应,有利于提高汽车乘坐舒适性和行驶稳定性,并为新型阻尼器设计提供一个新的思路。  相似文献

 This contribution presents a survey on the influence of long-chain branching on the linear viscoelastic properties zero shear-rate viscosity and steady-state recoverable compliance of polyethylene melts. The materials chosen are linear and slightly long-chain branched metallocene-catalyzed polyethylenes of narrow molecular mass distribution as well as linear and highly long-chain branched polyethylenes of broad molecular mass distribution. The linear viscoelastic flow properties are determined in shear creep and recovery experiments by means of a magnetic bearing torsional creep apparatus. The analysis of the molecular structure of the polyethylenes is performed by a coupled size exclusion chromatography and multi-angle laser light scattering device. Polyethylenes with a slight degree of long-chain branching exhibit a surprisingly high zero shear-rate viscosity in comparison to linear polyethylenes whereas the highly branched polyethylenes have a much lower viscosity compared to linear samples. Slightly branched polyethylenes have got a higher steady-state compliance in comparison to linear products of similar polydispersity, whereas the highly branched polyethylenes of broad molecular mass distribution exhibit a surprisingly low elasticity in comparison to linear polyethylenes of broad molecular mass distribution. In addition sparse levels of long-chain branching cause a different time dependence in comparison to linear polyethylenes. The experimental findings are interpreted by comparison with rheological results from literature on model branched polymers of different molecular topography and chemical composition. A weakly nonlinear approach is utilized here to study the electrohydrodynamic (EHD) instability of an incompressible viscous liquid jet stressed by an axial electric field. The linear motion equations is solved in the light of nonlinear boundary conditions. The viscosity is assumed to be small. The study takes into account both the shear and radial components of the stresses at the interface. In the linear theory, we discuss the breakup phenomena of liquid jets. Also, it is found that, the electrical shearing stresses have no effect at the linear marginal state, while the linear cutoff wavenumber depends on the electrical shearing stresses. A nonlinear perturbation method is introduced. This method can be described our problem precisely. The nonlinear stability is compared with the linear stability condition in the weak viscosity case. It is found that, the weak viscosity has effect on the nonlinear stability condition, in contrast with the linear analysis, whereas the nonlinear cutoff wavenumber doesn't depend on the weak viscosity in both the linear and nonlinear theory.  相似文献

Viscous and elastic properties of a linear polypropylene (PP) and a long-chain branched low-density polyethylene (LDPE) have been investigated by creep and creep–recovery experiments in shear and elongation. The data obtained verify the ratios between the linear values of the viscosities and the steady-state elastic compliances in shear and elongation predicted by the theory of linear viscoelasticity. In the nonlinear range, no simple correlation between the viscous behaviour in shear and elongation exists. The elongational viscosity of the PP decreases with increasing stress analogously to the shear thinning observed; the linear range extends to higher stresses in elongation than in shear, however. The LDPE shows thinning in shear and strain hardening in elongational flow. For the LDPE, a linear steady-state elastic tensile compliance corresponding to one third of the linear steady-state elastic compliance in shear was determined. For the PP, this theoretically predicted value is approximately reached. Analogous to the viscous behaviour, the linear range extends to higher stresses in elongation than in shear. For both materials, the steady-state elastic compliances in the nonlinear range decrease with increasing stress in shear as well as in elongation. However, the decrease in elongation is more pronounced.  相似文献

Using a perturbation method, the applicability limits of a linear theory of internal gravity waves are estimated. It is shown that over a wide range of wavelengths, typical of a real ocean, in studying the dynamics of internal gravity waves it is possible to use a linear approximation, which confirms the validity and adequacy of this approximation for the corresponding spatial and temporal scales of the linear model of wave dynamics.  相似文献

In this work we consider a cylindrical structure composed of a nonlinear core (inhomogeneity) surrounded by a different nonlinear shell (matrix). We elaborate a technique for determining its linear elastic moduli (second order elastic constants) and the nonlinear elastic moduli, which are called Landau coefficients (third order elastic constants). Firstly, we develop a nonlinear perturbation method which is able to turn the initial nonlinear elastic problem into a couple of linear problems. Then, we prove that only the solution of the first linear problem is necessary to calculate the linear and nonlinear effective properties of the heterogeneous structure. The following step consists in the exact solution of such a linear problem by means of the complex elastic potentials. As result we obtain the exact closed forms for the linear and nonlinear effective elastic moduli, which are valid for any volume fraction of the core embedded in the external shell.  相似文献

The stability analysis of linear multistep methods for the numerical solutions of the systems of generalized neutral delay differential equations is discussed. The stability behaviour of linear multistep methods was analysed for the solution of the generalized system of linear neutral test equations. After the establishment of a sufficient condition for asymptotic stability of the solutions of the generalized system, it is shown that a linear multistep method is NGP G -stable if and only if it is A-stable.  相似文献

In this paper the stability of linear stochastic difference equations and a class of weakly non-linear stochastic difference equations is considered. For the linear systems explicit criteria are derived for the stability of the moments of any order. Different from the inverse problem put forward by R.E.Kalman, another kind of inverse problem of linear optimal control is proposed and discussed in [1] as follows: Given an asymptotically stable linear constant system and a nonnegative quadratic performance index, when can a state-feedback be separated from the stable system so that this state-feedback control law is optimal for the given index? In this paper this problem is extended. Similar conclusions are obtained for linear discrete systems and linear time-variable systems. According to these conclusions we can say that the correspondence between the asymptotically stable system and the optimal feedback system is the inherent character of all kinds of linear systems.  相似文献

For a one-dimensional dispersive medium the linear momentum of a phonon is discussed in both the Lagrangian and the Eulerian picture, i.e. with the use of substantial (material) and local coordinates, respectively. As phonons are usually considered as solutions of the linearized equations of motion, in the Eulerian picture the linear momentum of a phonon is only defined up to linear terms in the fields. To obtain results relevant towards higher order in the fields, one has to solve the nonlinear equations of motion. The nonlinear behaviors and vibration reduction of a linear system with a nonlinear energy sink(NES)are investigated.The linear system is excited by a harmonic and random base excitation,consisting of a mass block,a linear spring,and a linear viscous damper.The NES is composed of a mass block,a linear viscous damper,and a spring with ideal cubic nonlinear stiffness.Based on the generalized harmonic function method,the steady-state Fokker-Planck-Kolmogorov equation is presented to reveal the response of the system.The path integral method based on the Gauss-Legendre polynomial is used to achieve the numerical solutions.The performance of vibration reduction is evaluated by the displacement and velocity transition probability densities,the transmissibility transition probability density,and the percentage of the energy absorption transition probability density of the linear oscillator.The sensitivity of the parameters is analyzed for varying the nonlinear stiffness coefficient and the damper ratio.The investigation illustrates that a linear system with NES can also realize great vibration reduction under harmonic and random base excitations and random bifurcation may appear under different parameters,which will affect the stability of the system.  相似文献

We investigate the effectiveness of linear and nonlinear time-delay feedback controls to suppress high amplitude oscillations of an elastically mounted square cylinder undergoing galloping oscillations. A representative model that couples the transverse displacement and the aerodynamic force is used. The quasi-steady approximation is used to model the galloping force. A linear analysis is performed to investigate the effect of linear time-delay controls on the onset speed of galloping and natural frequencies. It is demonstrated that a linear time-delay control can be used to delay the onset speed of galloping. The normal form of the Hopf bifurcation is then derived to characterize the type of the instability (supercritical or subcritical) and to determine the effects of the linear and nonlinear time-delay parameters on their outputs near the bifurcation. The results show that the nonlinear time-delay control can be efficiently implemented to significantly reduce the galloping amplitude and suppress any dangerous behavior by converting any subcritical Hopf bifurcation into a supercritical one.  相似文献

Energy pumping in a two-degrees-of-freedom system with linear and essentially nonlinear oscillators is studied. The kinetic energy envelopes of the linear and nonlinear subsystems are chosen to be the main characteristics of the process under consideration. A criterion that the energy of the linear oscillator excited at time zero is completely pumped over into the nonlinear oscillator is established together with an additional condition whereby the energy does not return to the linear subsystem. Optimal energy pumping mode is established using global optimization.
