Particular solutions play a critical role in solving inhomogeneous problems using boundary methods such as boundary element methods or boundary meshless methods. In this short article, we derive the closed-form particular solutions for the Laplace and biharmonic operators using the Gaussian radial basis function. The derived particular solutions are implemented numerically to solve boundary value problems using the method of particular solutions and the localized method of approximate particular solutions. Two examples in 2D and 3D are given to show the effectiveness of the derived particular solutions.  相似文献

In this article I examine an as yet unexplored aspect of J.P. Moreland’s defense of so-called bare particularism — the ontological theory according to which ordinary concrete particulars (e.g., Socrates) contain bare particulars as individuating constituents and property ‘hubs.’ I begin with the observation that if there is a constituency relation obtaining between Socrates and his bare particular, it must be an internal relation, in which case the natures of the relata will necessitate the relation. I then distinguish various ways in which a bare particular might be thought to have a nature and show that on none of these is it possible for a bare particular to be a constituent of a complex particular. Thus, Moreland’s attempt to resurrect bare particulars as ontologically indispensable entities is not wholly without difficulties.  相似文献

Quasi-Newton methods in conjunction with the piecewise sequential quadratic programming are investigated for solving mathematical programming with equilibrium constraints, in particular for problems with complementarity constraints. Local convergence as well as superlinear convergence of these quasi-Newton methods can be established under suitable assumptions. In particular, several well-known quasi-Newton methods such as BFGS and DFP are proved to exhibit the local and superlinear convergence.  相似文献

Analytical particular solutions of splines and monomials are obtained for problems of thin plate resting on Pasternak foundation under arbitrary loadings, which are governed by a fourth‐order partial differential equation (PDEs). These analytical particular solutions are valuable when the arbitrary loadings are approximated by augmented polyharmonic splines (APS) constructed by splines and monomials. In our derivations, the real coefficient operator in the governing equation is decomposed into two complex coefficient operators whose particular solutions are known in literature. Then, we use the difference trick to recover the analytical particular solutions of the original operator. In addition, we show that the derived particular solution of spline with its first few directional derivatives are bounded as r → 0. This solution procedure may have the potential in obtaining analytical particular solutions of higher order PDEs constructed by products of Helmholtz‐type operators. Furthermore, we demonstrate the usages of these analytical particular solutions by few numerical cases in which the homogeneous solutions are complementarily solved by the method of fundamental solutions (MFS). © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. These structures include, as a particular case, the poset block structures, which can be naturally regarded as the set on which the generalized wreath product of permutation groups acts as the group of automorphisms. We consider a risk minimization problem in a continuous-time Markovian regime-switching financial model modulated by a continuous-time, observable and finite-state Markov chain whose states represent different market regimes. We adopt a particular form of convex risk measure, which includes the entropic risk measure as a particular case, as a measure of risk. The risk-minimization problem is formulated as a Markovian regime-switching version of a two-player, zero-sum stochastic differential game. One important feature of our model is to allow the flexibility of controlling both the diffusion process representing the financial risk and the Markov chain representing macro-economic risk. This is novel and interesting from both the perspectives of stochastic differential game and stochastic control. A verification theorem for the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) solution of the game is provided and some particular cases are discussed.  相似文献

We propound some convergence theory for quasimetric spaces that includes as a particular case the Gromov-Hausdorff theory for metric spaces. We prove the existence of the tangent cone (with respect to the introduced convergence) to a quasimetric space with dilations and, as a corollary, to a regular quasimetric Carnot-Carathéodory space. We consider special series in the classical Laguerre polynomials coinciding in particular cases with the mixed series associated to Laguerre polynomials, introduced by the author previously, as well as Fourier–Sobolev series in Sobolev orthogonal Laguerre polynomials. We address the questions of uniform convergence of these series on a finite segment of the positive half-axis. We consider the problem of estimating the regression function in functional linear regression models by proposing a new type of projection estimators which combine dimension reduction and thresholding. The introduction of a threshold rule allows us to get consistency under broad assumptions as well as minimax rates of convergence under additional regularity hypotheses. We also consider the particular case of Sobolev spaces generated by the trigonometric basis which permits us to get easily mean squared error of prediction as well as estimators of the derivatives of the regression function. We prove that these estimators are minimax and rates of convergence are given for some particular cases.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to investigation of group properties of a one-dimensional model of two-phase filtration in porous medium. Along with the general model, some of its particular cases widely used in oil-field development are discussed. The Buckley–Leverett model is considered in detail as a particular case of the one-dimensional filtration model. This model is constructed under the assumption that filtration is one-dimensional and horizontally directed, the porous medium is homogeneous and incompressible, the filtering fluids are also incompressible. The model of “chromatic fluid” filtration is also investigated. New conservation laws and particular solutions are constructed using symmetries and nonlinear self-adjointness of the system of equations.  相似文献

Harmonic frames of prime order are investigated. The primary focus is the enumeration of inequivalent harmonic frames, with the exact number given by a recursive formula. The key to this result is a one-to-one correspondence developed between inequivalent harmonic frames and the orbits of a particular set. Secondarily, the symmetry group of prime order harmonic frames is shown to contain a subgroup consisting of a diagonal matrix as well as a permutation matrix, each of which is dependent on the particular harmonic frame in question.  相似文献

We show that infinite locally finite doubly stochastic matrices are particular limits of sequences of finite doubly stochastic matrices and reciprocally. Thereby, we define the parity in the set of infinite locally finite doubly stochastic matrices. In particular, convexity and stability properties of the even matrix of this set are investigated, as well as the differences between the finite case and the infinite case.
