A comparative study of various stopping power tables and codes for heavy ions in gases has been made through comparison of computed values and the corresponding experimental data. Ten gaseous media: five monatomic rare gases (He to Xe), two diatomic gases (H2, N2) and three polyatomic gaseous compounds (CH4, CF4 and CO2) have been chosen to study the stopping power investigations of heavy ions (8 ≤ Z ≤ 92) having energy ranges of ∼0.10–10.00 MeV/n and ∼20.00–57.00 MeV/n. We compare the experimental data of stopping power to values calculated using various tables and computer codes by ICRU-73, Ziegler et al (SRIM2003.26), Grande and Schiwietz (CasP3.1), Paul and Schinner (MSTAR3.12), and Bazin and Tarasov (LISE ++:2-ATIMA1.2). On the basis of statistical analysis, we estimate the reliability of these tables and codes. It has been observed that the MSTAR3.12 code shows the best agreement with the experimental data for projectile ions (8 ≤ Z ≤ 18) in the entire energy range. The SRIM2003.26 code provides good results except for some heavy projectiles (Xe, Pb and U). The values tabulated by CasP3.1 code underestimate especially at low energy region. No significant trend is observed in case of LISE++:2-ATIMA1.2 code and ICRU-73 report.  相似文献

A comparative study of various stopping power tables and codes for heavy ions in polymers has been made by comparing the computed stopping power values with the corresponding experimental values. The energy loss of different heavy ions (3≤Z 1≤29) in the energy domain of ~0.19–3.14 MeV/n has been studied in six different polymers mostly used as particle track detectors viz: Mylar (Polyethylene Terephthalate), PEN (Polyethylene Napthalate), Polycarbonate, CR-39 (Polyallyl Diglycol Carbonate), Kapton (Polypyromellitimide) and LR-115 (Cellulose Nitrate). The merits and demerits of the adopted formulations are highlighted. It has been observed that the calculations based on SRIM2003.26 and tables of ICRU-73 provide best agreement with the experimental data for projectiles (3≤Z 1≤29) and (3≤Z 1≤18), respectively. The MSTAR3.12 code shows good results for projectiles (3≤Z 1≤18), except in case of CR-39 for O, Na, and Al projectiles. The statistical analysis on the basis of combined error reveals that the SRIM2003 and ICRU-73 tables are more reliable as compared to the other programs taken in the present study, whereas CasP3.1 is least reliable program in lower energy domain.  相似文献

通过SRIM软件对铪离子等离子体源离子注入铜进行了模拟。模拟了铪离子注入铜的核阻止本领、电子阻止本领、入射深度随能量的变化,以及在不同注入条件下铪离子的摩尔浓度分布,并对模拟结果进行了分析。结果显示:能量低于6 MeV时核阻止本领占主导地位,高于6 MeV时电子阻止本领成为主要的能量损失,并且离子注入过程中会出现能量沉积的Bragg峰和质量沉积区域较集中的现象,入射深度随能量的增加而增加。  相似文献

The principle of reciprocity, i.e., the invariance of the inelastic excitation in ion-atom collisions against interchange of projectile and target, has been applied to the electronic stopping cross section of low-velocity ions and tested empirically on ion-target combinations supported by a more or less adequate amount of experimental data. Reciprocity is well obeyed (within ~10%) for many systems studied, and deviations exceeding ~20% are exceptional. Systematic deviations such as gas-solid or metal-insulator differences have been looked for but not identified on the present basis. A direct consequence of reciprocity is the equivalence of Z1 with Z2 structure for random slowing down. This feature is reasonably well supported empirically for ion-target combinations involving carbon, nitrogen, aluminium and argon. Reciprocity may be utilized as a criterion to reject questionable experimental data. In cases where a certain stopping cross section has not been or cannot be measured, the stopping cross section for the inverted system may be available and serve as a first estimate. It is suggested to build in reciprocity as a fundamental requirement into empirical interpolation schemes directed at the stopping of low-velocity ions. Examination of the SRIM and MSTAR codes reveals cases where reciprocity is obeyed accurately, but deviations of up to a factor of two are common. In case of heavy ions such as gold, electronic stopping cross sections predicted by SRIM are asserted to be almost an order of magnitude too high.  相似文献

An analytical fitting expression is obtained for the channeled stopping power of B ions in crystalline silicon. Ions incident in the Si 〈100〉 direction at energies from 50 keV/amu to 900 keV/amu are considered. The mean projected ranges of ions have been determined within the framework of the transport theory formalism where the fitting relation obtained for the stopping power was used. For this purpose, a first order ordinary differential equation including second order stopping coefficients is solved numerically by usingFehlberg fourth-fifth order Runge-Kutta method. By using the results for the channeled ion ranges, a transformation relation is proposed for the conversion of channeled/random ion ranges for the ion target system under consideration. The obtained results are compared with widely used standard programs such as Crystal-TRIM, SRIM and PRAL and our program applied to crystalline targets is in good agreement with Crystal-TRIM.  相似文献

The electronic stopping power of molecular oxygen and nitrogen for protons with energies between 1 keV and 30 keV has been measured using a differentially pumped stopping cell. Our results give a surprisingly good confirmation of the Lindhard-Scharff statistical theory which predicts a linear velocity dependence of the electronic stopping power at low projectile energies. Moreover our data are in fair agreement with earlier high energy (E ≧ 20 keV) measurements in other laboratories. The combination of the present measurements with theoretically calculated nuclear stopping powers yields an estimate of the atomic stopping power. This estimate leads to substantially lower atomic stopping powers at low energies compared to values derived from range measurements. This result may have interesting implications on auroral hydrogen emissions.  相似文献

In this study the model suggested by Sugiyama has been developed and applied for the calculation of the stopping powers for nonrelativistic heavy ions in various target materials. Sugiyama's model has been expanded to low and high energy regions in our work. Analytical expressions are obtained in the modified BB stopping power formula for the effective charge and effective mean excitation energies. In the modified LSS formula, a quasi-molecule criterion has been applied to both the projectiles and the target atoms. Electronic excitation contribution, S e0, and quasi-molecule contribution, S ei , to stopping power were found for a wide energy region. It is observed that in intermediate energy region both contributions have maxima. The stopping power due to excitation-ionization in the intermediate and higher energy region is found to be dominant, whereas quasi-molecule contribution is dominant in the lower energy region. The calculated results of stopping power are in good agreement with experimental data for various ions and targets within a few percent in a wide projectile energy range.  相似文献

本文报道了利用兰州重离子加速器国家实验室的ECR离子源引出的高电荷态离子207Pb36 入射到金属Nb表面产生的二次离子的实验测量结果.实验发现,二次离子产额Y随入射初动能Ek的增加有先增加后减小的关系,在初动能为576 keV时二次离子产额达到最大.通过对实验点做高斯拟合发现,曲线峰值对应的入射初动能为602 keV.分析表明,这是势能沉积作用与线性级联碰撞过程协同作用的结果.高电荷态离子本身携带的高势能沉积在靶表面引起势能溅射,促进了二次离子的发射;而主导二次离子溅射的过程是动能溅射,它与靶表面的动量沉积(核能损)过程密切相关.  相似文献

The measurements of partial production cross sections of the multiple helium projectile fragments emitted at 4.5 A GeV/c {}^{16}O-Em interactions are reported. We have studied the production rate of helium projectile fragments due to fragmentation of {}^{16}O ions and compared it with that obtained from different projectiles at various energies. The dependence of on the mass number of the incident beams is formulated. The multiplicity distributions of the helium fragments produced in {}^{16}O-Em interactions at different energies exhibit Koba-Nielson-Olesen (KNO) scaling. The correlation of helium projectile fragments and target fragments is also investigated and it is found that the average of target fragments is increased with the decrease of the number of helium fragments in peripheral interactions.  相似文献

The long-standing problem of the lacking signature of a Barkas effect in the stopping of swift heavy ions under channeling conditions has been analyzed theoretically. The stopping model provides explicit dependences on impact parameter and allows for projectile screening and higher-order Z(1) corrections. The analysis differentiates between principal target shells. A distinct Barkas correction is found in accordance with standard theory. It is less pronounced for channeled than for random stopping because of the dominance of outer target shells. Varying contributions from different target shells to the stopping force may give rise to an inversion of the commonly observed variation with ion energy and charge state of the Barkas correction.  相似文献

Abstract

The stopping power and range for Xe ions in high temperature matter (partially ionized plasmas) have been calculated using the dielectric response function method. Calculations have been made for a target matter Al (Z = 13) over a wide range of temperatures and densities considering a finite temperature model. The stopping powers obtained have smaller values in comparison with those of a zero temperature model. The stopping power strongly depends on the density and temperature of the target material, and the projectile ion energy.  相似文献

The energy dependence of the total stopping cross section of 50- to 230-keV nitrogen ions in silicon (σ S (E)) is measured in order to develop the diagnostics of heavy impurities in films of a nanometer thickness by heavy ion backscattering (HIBS) spectroscopy. At ion energies lower than 150 keV, this σ S (E) dependence occupies an intermediate position between the dependences given in the SRIM and MSTAR data-bases; at higher energies, our dependence is closer to the former dependence. The estimation of the effect of inelastic processes on the stopping cross section demonstrates that the effect of these processes for nitrogen ions can be neglected when heavy impurities in such films are studied by HIBS.  相似文献

Direct numerical solution of the Boltzman transport equation for incident ions and knocked-off atoms of the target is applied for range and damage calculations. The influence of physical parameters in a model of ion stopping in matter on the obtained range and damage distribution is investigated in the range of ion energies from 1 KeV to 1 MeV. All the examined interatomic potentials give close values of mean depths and higher moments of range and damage distributions. The influence of differences in electronic stopping is also studied. The obtained results are compared with experimental data and the results of other calculations.  相似文献

Fast helium nuclei emitted in interactions between heavy cosmic ray nuclei (12≦Z≦26) and photoemulsion nuclei at energies >1 GeV/nucleon have been studied. Comparisons with interactions where the incident particles are protons, pions or light nuclei reveal some characteristic features of nucleus-nucleus interactions. The frequency of fast target helium nuclei is much larger and the high energy tail of the energy spectrum of these helium nuclei is more pronounced in nucleus-nucleus interactions than in proton-nucleus and pion-nucleus interactions. The number of helium nuclei emitted depends on the size and disintegration of the interacting nuclei. In order to explain our experimental data several possible production mechanisms have to be considered. Some characteristics of the emission of multiply-charged projectile fragments have-also been studied.  相似文献

A series of Ag-glass samples have been studied. They were irradiated as a function of bombarding ion species, dose, temperature, and energy. The results by RBS indicate that ion beam mixing of Ag-glass takes place not only at higher energy irradiation (I. OMeV Xe+), but also at lower energy irradiation (120KeV Ar+ and Kr+). The effective diffusion lengths squared, Dt, were introduced for comparison. It is found that Dt is dependent on the nuclear stopping power, dose and irradiation temperature.  相似文献

Experimental data on the energy loss of light H, Li, B, and N ions in methane and H and N ions in benzene vapor have been presented for the range of ion energies from 0.01 to 0.6 MeV/nucleon. It has been shown that the energy loss in the compounds does not follow the addition rule for small ion energies, which indicates the necessity of taking into account the chemical bonds of the molecular targets. The deviation from the addition rule has been experimentally found to increase with the nuclear charge of the projectile ion.  相似文献

The triply differential cross section of molecular hydrogen for ionization by 50 eV positrons has been determined, for the first time, for both the ejected electron in coincidence with the remnant ion and for the scattered projectile. Asymmetries in the energy sharing between the two light particles in the final state are observed, with the electron spectrum being shifted to significantly lower (and the scattered positron to correspondingly higher) energies than expected. A similar shape is observed in the case of the ejected electron spectrum from a helium target at the same excess energy.  相似文献
