The general question, “When is the product of Fréchet spaces Fréchet?” really depends on the questions of when a product of α4 Fréchet spaces (also known as strongly Fréchet or countably bisequential spaces) is α4, and when it is Fréchet. Two subclasses of the class of strongly Fréchet spaces shed much light on these questions. These are the class of α3 Fréchet spaces and its subclass of 0-bisequential spaces. The latter is closed under countable products, the former not even under finite products. A number of fundamental results and open problems are recalled, some further highlighting the difference between being α3 and Fréchet and being 0-bisequential.  相似文献

Let X be a Banach space whose norm is simultaneously LUR and Gateaux (Fréchet) smooth. Under some assumptions, it is shown that the infimal convolution of a fairly general function on X and the square of the norm is generically strongly attained and hence is Gateaux (Fréchet) differentiable. This contains a result of S. Dutta on distance functions.  相似文献

We show that Asplund sets are effective tools to study differentiability of Lipschitz functions, and ε-subdifferentiability of lower semicontinuous functions on general Banach spaces. If a locally Lipschitz function defined on an Asplund generated space has a minimal Clarke subdifferential mapping, then it is TBY-uniformly strictly differentiable on a dense Gδ subset of X. Examples are given of locally Lipschitz functions that are TBY-uniformly strictly differentiable everywhere, but nowhere Fréchet differentiable.  相似文献

The subject of this paper is an analytic approximate method for stochastic functional differential equations whose coefficients are functionals, sufficiently smooth in the sense of Fréchet derivatives. The approximate equations are defined on equidistant partitions of the time interval, and their coefficients are general Taylor expansions of the coefficients of the initial equation. It will be shown that the approximate solutions converge in the Lp-norm and with probability one to the solution of the initial equation, and also that the rate of convergence increases when degrees in Taylor expansions increase, analogously to real analysis.  相似文献

We construct an example of a Banach space which is not lush, but whose dual space is lush. This example shows that lushness is not equivalent to numerical index one. A characterization of lushness for some quotient spaces of L1(μ) spaces and new results on C-rich subspaces of (scalar- or vector-valued) C(K) spaces are also presented.  相似文献

Positive Quaternion Kähler Manifolds are Riemannian manifolds with holonomy contained in Sp(n)Sp(1) and with positive scalar curvature. Conjecturally, they are symmetric spaces. In this article we are mainly concerned with Positive Quaternion Kähler Manifolds M satisfying b4(M)=1. Generalising a result of Galicki and Salamon we prove that M4n in this case is homothetic to a quaternionic projective space if 2≠n?6.  相似文献

Estimates of the characteristic of monotonicity in Köthe-Bochner function spaces E(X) with some consequences are given. Characterizations of strict and uniform monotonicity of the sequence lattice are obtained.  相似文献

If (Σ,X) is a measurable space and X a Banach space we investigate the X-inheritance of copies of ? in certain subspaces Δ(Σ,X) of bvca(Σ,X), the Banach space of all X-valued countable additive measures of bounded variation equipped with the variation norm. Among the consequences of our main theorem we get a theorem of J. Mendoza on the X-inheritance of copies of ? in the Bochner space L1(μ,X) and other of the author on the X-inheritance of copies of ? in bvca(Σ,X).  相似文献

Given a space M, a family of sets A of a space X is ordered by M if A={AK:K is a compact subset of M} and KL implies AKAL. We study the class M of spaces which have compact covers ordered by a second countable space. We prove that a space Cp(X) belongs to M if and only if it is a Lindelöf Σ-space. Under MA(ω1), if X is compact and (X×X)\Δ has a compact cover ordered by a Polish space then X is metrizable; here Δ={(x,x):xX} is the diagonal of the space X. Besides, if X is a compact space of countable tightness and X2\Δ belongs to M then X is metrizable in ZFC.We also consider the class M? of spaces X which have a compact cover F ordered by a second countable space with the additional property that, for every compact set PX there exists FF with PF. It is a ZFC result that if X is a compact space and (X×X)\Δ belongs to M? then X is metrizable. We also establish that, under CH, if X is compact and Cp(X) belongs to M? then X is countable.  相似文献

We establish here some inequalities between distances of pointwise bounded subsets H of RX to the space of real-valued continuous functions C(X) that allow us to examine the quantitative difference between (pointwise) countable compactness and compactness of H relative to C(X). We prove, amongst other things, that if X is a countably K-determined space the worst distance of the pointwise closure of H to C(X) is at most 5 times the worst distance of the sets of cluster points of sequences in H to C(X): here distance refers to the metric of uniform convergence in RX. We study the quantitative behavior of sequences in H approximating points in . As a particular case we obtain the results known about angelicity for these Cp(X) spaces obtained by Orihuela. We indeed prove our results for spaces C(X,Z) (hence for Banach-valued functions) and we give examples that show when our estimates are sharp.  相似文献

We study binormality, a separation property of the norm and weak topologies of a Banach space. We show that every Banach space which belongs to a P-class is binormal. We also show that the asplundness of a Banach space is equivalent to a related separation property of its dual space.  相似文献

Under the assumption that μ is a non-negative Radon measure on Rd which only satisfies some growth condition, the authors obtain the boundedness in some Hardy-type spaces of multilinear commutators generated by Calderón-Zygmund operators or fractional integrals with RBMO(μ) functions, where the Hardy-type spaces are some appropriate subspaces, associated to the considered RBMO(μ) functions, of the Hardy space H1(μ) of Tolsa.  相似文献

In recent papers (cf. [J.L. Arregui, O. Blasco, (p,q)-Summing sequences, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 274 (2002) 812-827; J.L. Arregui, O. Blasco, (p,q)-Summing sequences of operators, Quaest. Röntgen, Banach space sequences and projective tensor products, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 277 (2) (2003) 629-644]) the concept of (p,q)-summing multiplier was considered in both general and special context. It has been shown that some geometric properties of Banach spaces and some classical theorems can be described using spaces of (p,q)-summing multipliers. The present paper is a continuation of this study, whereby multiplier spaces for some classical Banach spaces are considered. The scope of this research is also broadened, by studying other classes of summing multipliers. Let E(X) and F(Y) be two Banach spaces whose elements are sequences of vectors in X and Y, respectively, and which contain the spaces c00(X) and c00(Y) of all X-valued and Y-valued sequences which are eventually zero, respectively. Generally spoken, a sequence of bounded linear operators (un)⊂L(X,Y) is called a multiplier sequence from E(X) to F(Y) if the linear operator from c00(X) into c00(Y) which maps (xi)∈c00(X) onto (unxn)∈c00(Y) is bounded with respect to the norms on E(X) and F(Y), respectively. Several cases where E(X) and F(Y) are different (classical) spaces of sequences, including, for instance, the spaces Rad(X) of almost unconditionally summable sequences in X, are considered. Several examples, properties and relations among spaces of summing multipliers are discussed. Important concepts like R-bounded, semi-R-bounded and weak-R-bounded from recent papers are also considered in this context.  相似文献

We prove that if the one-point compactification of a locally compact, noncompact Hausdorff space L is the topological space called pseudoarc, then C0(L,C) is almost transitive. We also obtain two necessary conditions on a metrizable locally compact Hausdorff space L for C0(L) being almost transitive.  相似文献

By a ball-covering B of a Banach space X, we mean that B is a collection of open (or closed) balls off the origin whose union contains the unit sphere SX of X; and X is said to have the ball-covering property (BCP) provided it admits a ball-covering by countably many balls. In this note we give a natural example showing that the ball-covering property of a Banach space is not inherited by its subspaces; and we present a sharp quantitative version of the recent Fonf and Zanco renorming result saying that if the dual X of X is w separable, then for every ε>0 there exist a (1+ε)-equivalent norm on X, and an R>0 such that in this new norm SX admits a ball-covering by countably many balls of radius R. Namely, we show that R=R(ε) can be taken arbitrarily close to (1+ε)/ε, and that for X=?1[0,1] the corresponding R cannot be equal to 1/ε. This gives the sharp order of magnitude for R(ε) as ε→0.  相似文献

We adapt recent results of Albrecht and Ricker to obtain conditions under which growth constraints on the left resolvent of a Banach space operator are preserved under suitable perturbations. As an application, we establish Bishop's property (β) for certain generalized Cesàro operators on the classical Hardy spaces Hp, 1<p<∞. Our methods also apply to unilateral weighted shifts whose weight sequence converges sufficiently rapidly as well as to perturbations of restrictions of a class of generalized scalar operators.  相似文献

The main result is to show that the space of nonmonotonic fuzzy measures on a measurable space (X,X) with total variation norm is separable if and only if the σ-algebra X is a finite set. Our result is related to fuzzy analysis, functional spaces and discrete mathematics.  相似文献

Let IP(N) stand for an ideal containing finite sets. We discuss various kinds of statistical convergence and I-convergence for sequences of functions with values in R or in a metric space. For real valued measurable functions defined on a measure space (X,M,μ), we obtain a statistical version of the Egorov theorem (when μ(X)<∞). We show that, in its assertion, equi-statistical convergence on a big set cannot be replaced by uniform statistical convergence. Also, we consider statistical convergence in measure and I-convergence in measure, with some consequences of the Riesz theorem. We prove that outer and inner statistical convergences in measure (for sequences of measurable functions) are equivalent if the measure is finite.  相似文献

In this paper, we will study the isometric extension problem for L1-spaces and prove that every surjective isometry from the unit sphere of L1(μ) onto that of a Banach space E can be extended to a linear surjective isometry from L1(μ) onto E. Moreover, we introduce the approximate isometric extension problem and show that, if E and F are Banach spaces and E satisfies the property (m) (special cases are L(Γ), C0(Ω) and L(μ)), then every bijective ?-isometry between the unit spheres of E and F can be extended to a bijective 5?-isometry between their closed unit balls. At last, we will give an example to show that the surjectivity assumption cannot be omitted. Using this, we solve the non-surjective isometric extension problem in the negative.  相似文献

The duality principle for Gabor frames states that a Gabor sequence obtained by a time-frequency lattice is a frame for L2(Rd) if and only if the associated adjoint Gabor sequence is a Riesz sequence. We prove that this duality principle extends to any dual pairs of projective unitary representations of countable groups. We examine the existence problem of dual pairs and establish some connection with classification problems for II1 factors. While in general such a pair may not exist for some groups, we show that such a dual pair always exists for every subrepresentation of the left regular unitary representation when G is an abelian infinite countable group or an amenable ICC group. For free groups with finitely many generators, the existence problem of such a dual pair is equivalent to the well-known problem about the classification of free group von Neumann algebras.  相似文献
